so, to be clear, the last two possible actions (that mathy can think up) for AV is:

morbs

and building a fence for the pocket realm.

Yes.

So what you're saying is, we need to find a way to make reality more sturdy. :V

I suppose Runesmithing isn't quite up to the task?

The problem with artificially strengthening this reality is if the strengthening fails abruptly, you could punch a hole right through the liminal and straight into the Warp.

Now I'm wondering, does Algard have his own way to make a liminal realm, or would he be intensely interested in AV for his own projects?

rise hands for wanting to talk to the grey lords: 'how do I ward my new crib, I don't want to go through the trial and error if I don't have to.'
Already asked. Not that I'm really sure what Mathilde would even do with a Liminal realm other than as a proof of concept. Maybe we could attach it to a portable object and use it as a bag of holding or something? Or if the entrance is portable, a place for Mathilde to hide in if she needs to suddenly not exist for a bit.

That was a great update. Really tense and I love how Boney manages to turn unexpected dice rolls into really cool scenes with serious consequences without feeling unfair.

I am not willing to abandon what we learned about making liminal realms and the nature of the winds of magic because an annoying bird turned up. We will just have to be careful about the trait in the future. We also need to find some way to warn people about the coming Everchosen without getting burned at the stake.

Use it for more rooms.

From discussions on this before, and the fact that they're called "The Towers of Screaming Death," it seems to be that stabilization into a proper liminal realm is the main thing Algard is lacking.

I suspect it will turn out that he has all the skill Mathilde did and more, but what he lacked was the raw materials.

Algard: Mathilde I need some Vitae.

Mathilde: What... are you going to use it for?

Algard: I need it to expand my bookshelf to hold more books.

Mathilde: Understood here are five gallons.

I'll just consider the basic actionable factors here:
Do we tell the College?

1) Tell

College takes testimony seriously, adds additional checks and balances on Mathilde. College is not stupid enough to censure her for performing legal experiments with all possible precautions and then reporting honestly and completely on the topic when it goes bad. College is strongly encouraged to explicitly rule out attempting to create powerstones with the material.

2) Hide it

...what are the odds that the Daemon 'leaks' the information to the College anyway just to see how Mathilde reacts to increased scrutiny from the College?

Remember when we got the class on Daemonic temptation?
Mathilde has reached the level of influence where Chaos temptation is practically a given. Provided she doesn't give in to it, its normal, and her continued self reporting is just part of the new normal.

Also knowing that the Everchosen Bowl is starting up is useful, actionable information to ease off on saber rattling and generally increase unity.

What do we do about the trait?
I think we probably want to up our proficiency on swording, because Fated sounds a whole lot like Tzeentch will use it to force a critfail at some ill-fated time. We need more non spellcasting solutions.

Now I have to wonder if that was his goal all along.
Tzeentchian planning is maneuvering yourself into a place where any outcome is beneficial for you.

Lord of Change: "How many ways can I win with one monologue? Let's find out"
The dice really want Big Bad Mathilde, huh? This is the third time.

So, who's next? Will Mathilde accidentally mug Eshin-Friend for ninja lore and thereby pass the secret assassin test so she's now an honorary member, or will Malekith discover his desire for short, smug women with swords?

It kind of feels like a someone is trying to break a video game by stacking flags to trigger every single bad end path at the same time.
Don't worry, I saw this work for John Constantine: just engage all our Bad Ends at once and they'll cancel each other out

You know what we should do?

Keep researching vitae-generated realms. Because this is arguably the most ridiculously impressive bit of spellcasting we ever did. In terms of results, this is some of the most impressive spellcasting any human has ever done.

Algard, who spent his entire life studying dimensional magic, barely has a half-hearted shadow of a guess as to how the Grey College dimension was made. The entire rest of the College has not a single freaking clue.

And we just replicated it while we were taking a potty break.

Like, holy shit.

We could certainly get that, but it's sort of a... I want to call it a reverse prisoners dilemma, even if that's not actually how it's shaped? It's the same flavor of thought process: We wouldn't be telling anybody because birds just say stuff to mess with people, and that's what they do.

Anybody in the college who could examine us more closely would be exposed to the same stimulus and the same chain of logic; birds just say things to mess with people, including the part where they claim to have talked to other people and to have messed with them.

If you act on the bird words, you're giving the bird credence. But, if you don't act on the bird words, why would anybody else have acted on them? If everyone dismisses them as a figment of the imagination, in so many words, then that's all the power they have.

The first person to go around checking out other people on the advice of a bird is the one that is vulnerable to being messed with by birds.

Absolutely loved to see Mathilde getting sassed while having her resolve tested by a demon, one of my favorite bits of the quest so far. I was expecting something more explodey so this really caught me off guard and creeped me out.

Is the part that you don't like that Mathilde got a phone call from a smug bird
We need better call screening.
A good thing to remember in these trying times. Tzeentch is an unfathomably massive deity who can think In a billion and one directions without even trying. Boney, however, is an entirely limited mortal who can only be so clever, and he's the one who wrote this. (Not to say Boney can't be really clever at times, but there is a limit)

Since, you know, you're thinking on the meta level anyways.
Boney being able to predict the thread turning itself inside-out with paranoia isn't exactly a stretch.

*raises hand*

I love how the thread settled on that, of all the things the demon said, the compliment about our hat is an absolute truth.

But it is objectively nice hat, no point in lying about it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

AV, in general, is just the most impressive thing Mathilde has ever done. And none of it is even really spellcasting, directly. But yeah, if we can make it portable somehow, I really want to make it part of our AV presentation. Like, roll up on Algard's office and pull the Orbs and book out of a liminal realm. Just to see his face.

Well, assuming that taking an LR into another LR doesn't have the whole Bag of Holding/Portable Hole problem.

We'll yes, but there's only so many hidden meanings they could have actually meant other than a general "watch them chase their tails".

Awesome update.

Personally not too concerned about ramifications though. I'd like to pick up Gazul soul lore and do some mark control. But I've wanted to do that for a long time anyway.
