The Druchii put their dick into Nordland and it got shredded. Druchii Quest is not having a good time.

Also: Nordland! Fuck yeah! Coming in to save the mother fucking day yeah!

Ostermark is Dynasty of Sanity and Allies.

Bro what is going on in Druchii quest chat, Nortland smashing the army, Ostland is somehow standing, and multiple heros/big units are all dying. WTF is the Empire Rolling????

Looks like they saved so many forces for us they heavily underestimated Nordland and the raiding forces they sent are paying for it. Brutally.

In terms of naval tech stuff, it's possible that the real boost to us will be not from adapting some Dark Elf tech or materials... but rather from being able to study how the enemy makes war and thus be more ready to fight against it.

i.e. Getting a good luck at the way the Druchii wage naval war, the way they repair their ships, how they launch them from Black Arks, what kind of facilities they have on their Arks, etc.

Of course, the Empire -- and the Asur especially -- have had access to Druchii stuff for a long while, over the course of many wars and battles, obviously. But this will be a more recent thing. Also, perhaps one difference this time? Is that this time, there'll be plenty of Elves -- Asur and Eonir (and possibly even Asrai) -- able to help us bring our heads together and learn how to best fight the Druchii. Heck. We'll have the Dwarfs here too. Previously, while the Empire did have the alliance with the Karaz Ankor, they were in a thousand year civil war, and they hadn't brought down any Black Ark.

Also we have Wizards this time. Dunno if that'll make the difference, but. Anyway.

So potentially, we have the possibility of Man, Elf, and Dwarf, all coming together to say "Fuck the Druchii, seriously" all at once.

(With a lot of exceptions and "We don't yet know if we're going to survive this" "We don't know how much loot we'll get if any" "We don't know what condition everyone will be in afterward" and "We don't know if we'll be able to get everyone to work together to form a thinktank targeting the Druchii naval warmaking capabilities" of course.)

i've said this before but honestly the Life Span of Freddy seems to be lining up to create a legitimate a potentially lasting bonds between the Order factions, bonds that are not oaths from generations ago but ones fordged now in friendship and parts of the anti-order factions are taking serious blows.

Its very satisfying to see the Druchii so impressively and comprehensively out-manuvered and defeated. The shipyards of Naggaroth will be occupied for years laboring to replace this fleet of ships. Many a dread captain and crew have also perished here, depriving Malekith of millennia of hard won experience.

I was expecting these escort fleets to be forced to flee Nordland after ineffectual raiding and to come to the aid of their parent Black Arcs at a crucial time in the battle. Now I am assured that no aid will come to our foe and the jaws of our strategic trap are very likely to snap catching both dread vessels in our grasp.

Truly a good day.

The naval forces of Ostland, mercenaries included, didn't go to Nordland, but just stayed out of range of the Black Arks, with the express purpose of attacking the Druchii in the back, once they have overextended themselves. It is an important part of the plan for the Battle of Salkalten, and probably will appear in future updates

Ah yes, I forgot that that was how we went about it lol. Been a while. Hopefully we actually see those ships soon then! Could really use some ship based cannon fire into their back lines for instance (especially that damn artillery of theirs)

And the Druchii of course. They've taken a number of licks recently, a number of gambits of their's failing... but whose factions failed those? Was it Malekith-aligned-ish sub-factions that got their shit punched in? Or were most of these attempts, attempts by independent and ambitious Lords and Heroes to seek glory or territory outside of Malekith's domain? And thus, our achieving victories over them, meant that while we weakened the Dark Elves as a whole, we also helped prune Malekith's competitors or trouble-starters?
IIRC, this is mostly Morathi's big city faction and someone she called in a favor for. As part of payback for the whole Albion mess. So the blowback on Malekith is what's probably classify as "indirect but substantial". Morathi's running the Cult of Khaine as part of Malekith's power base, they rarely openly bicker. So this is Morathi's subordinate losing a prize, going on a bigger expedition to restore lost pride, and losing even harder. Morathi's going to purge a few people, strike out at her competitors smelling blood, but the big boy's role is strictly focused on us:

The problem isn't whether we weaken the Dark Elves or stir up some infighting. It's that we demand attention. Especially if we somehow blow up a Black Arc. If we somehow pull that off, the Beastmen will be the least of our problems.

To be fair, if Aislinn blocks up a Black Ark or two himself, Malekith will be spoiled for choice on whether to go for us or Ulthuan. :V

My bet? He'll go for Eldyra first. Eldyra was the one who played a significant role in both the Ulthuan ousting of the Druchii and in coming to the Empire's aid; plus Eldyra has a personal connection to people on Ulthuan in the form of Tyrion, and to people in the Empire in the form of Freddy. (Also as a three-fer, Eldyra was present at Laurelorn and fought against the Avatar of Anath Raema.) That makes Eldyra the perfect person to target. The first target the Evil Overlord slays (or kidnaps) in order to show he means business and to goad the heroes to action and set them to racing to stop his evil plot as it reaches culmination.

You are missing a feat of prowess for Eldyra. Before all of that, Tyrion had her duel and kill the Dreadlord of the Black Arc that the Everqueen's fleet fought, boarded and sank a decade or two ago.

More than anything to do with the Empire, that alone would have put her on Malekith's shit list.

I don't remember how many black arks the druuchi officially have left , but we know the everqueen sunk one , and there are two in ostland. While unlikely we'll get both we might be able to sink one. I wonder how badly that's gonna affect the druuchi naval capabilities since those arks are unique things that can't be remade iirc . Losing two in a handful of years is gonna be a devastating loss for the druuchi

Nor does anyone else in-thread, it hasn't come up.

Canon itself it vague. There are at least a couple dozen as a bare minimum with 17 explicitly named per the wiki.

GW never wanted to tie themselves down with definitive numbers.

Wait did I misread this or did they have 2 black arks attack Nordland? If I'm being dumb then sorry. Cause Darn, I thought only 2 black arks were coming originally, glad Stephan and friends kicked the asses of their enemies.

Thanks for the great chapter Torroar! How well did Stephan and friends happen to roll in their quest?
