PRITHEE, hail and well met all!
Tis I, torroar, friendly author and master of games! Once again, in the interest of my long-term health, I have absconded to the gymnasium. This very moment I am, just as before, upon a cardio machine. In the interests of maintaining a high heart rate, so that more calories are burned and cardiovascular health maintained and hopefully improved in the long-term, I cannot help but admit that my authorial abilities will be vastly reduced. For you see, I will be typing the following, and this itself, with one hand, while rapidly moving my body, with but one hand to hold on to the machine so that I do not tip, trip, or fly off of it and cause great injury to myself.
This decision placed 'pon your votes, is a hard one. It was purposefully made to be so! There are grave consequences one way or another, especially with regards to what seems a main contested point: as to the location and directives given to Magnus von Hohenzollern, son and heir to Frederick!
As to other worries for provinces providing aid, worry not! Middenland shall be more than happy to safeguard the refugees and broken remnants of Ostland and Nordland's soldiery as they retreat from the coast, all the better to prove once more that it is Middenland that rules and should be commanding the North of the Empire once more! Within the encompassing arms of the Wolves, the pack will once more by righted! And when they fall in line, Middenheim will no doubt rally its troops from elsewhere in the Empire where they will be deployed - all the better to aid those who are sending all their strength to Karaz-a-Karak, temporarily to swiftly and surely reclaim the lost territories if any.
Additionally! Oh, the irony that must be suffered, for though they would never admit it, the Sons of Adolf Fuerbach did and do indeed believe Frederick's warnings from some years past about the dangers of the beastmen! They are of Taal's province, the deep forests, the wild places, and so are deeply concerned about the mysterious absence of the beastmen for so many years! Unlike proud Middenland, sure in their ability to deal with any issue that might threaten mighty Middenheim, the Fuerbachs are greatly concerned enough to desire to keep their forces at the ready! Furthermore, they shall aid the provinces which are dedicating the whole of their armies to the fighting at Karaz-a-Karak, and in doing so, hopefully may safeguard them from the threat of beastmen and forest goblins alike! These forest-borne sons will never admit it to Frederick or Ostland's face, but their pragmaticism is not yet overwhelmed by bitter hatred as in their ancient father! So yes! Much of the southern Empire must be protected from this! Yet, it so too must be acknowledged that, while not as poisoned as their father, both have drunk the bitter draught of loss, of men and their sister, and so intend to watch and wait to see if the oh-so-mighty Trident is victorious or not.
Luckily, or perhaps not, by the reckoning of some or others, Ostermark is hardly coastal as a province. What threat do the Druchii pose to them? Why, to many, it is hardly a consideration that they would require any military aid at all, for they are comfortable enough sending half of their troops to aid their fellow Trident members.
Of course, another issue be that Frederick's political position and history is strong. His prestige, both in terms of numbers and quality, is quite significant! Surely, the Unkillable, the Steel Bull, can handle this situation? To be fair, no time in the history of the Empire has a Black Ark been destroyed, but success has been found in retreats, in evacuations, in ensuring the lowest amount possible of deaths and enslavements. Salkalten may be lost - a tragedy - but would the Druchii truly try to strike inward into the very depths of the province? Likely not, so goes the thinking of some. They shall raid the coasts, and take what they will, for it is what they have done in the past. If the Trident has offended them greatly, they may stay longer, but the forces of the Trident are strong, have proven themselves time and again! Is it possible, then, to have too much faith in someone's abilities, if they succeed again and again? Toppenheimer, for instance, in all her zealotry, is sure that one touched and remade by Sigmar cannot fail in such a task, regardless of the sheer threat that a single Black Ark poses, let alone two. At the same time, it cannot be ignored that Ava von Krieglitz, of Stirland, would actually have preferred to send her forces to aid the Trident, who have been building better relations with Stirland, for in her eyes it is the Black Arks that are the more dangerous fight for the Empire. Alas! She cannot, for prior agreements made force her hand, and strange, tis it not, how swiftly the Grand Theogonist leapt to the fore? Idle zealotry, true faithfulness? Or how is it that the two provinces he was meeting with prior to the Meet beginning early are so swift to dedicate the totality of their military strength? The Emperor found this suspicious, might you as well? How did the Grand Theogonist prepare this position so swiftly, promise so many Sigmarite Knightly Orders, and more?
Mayhaps there is a zealot, a poor, mind-broken thing with only sparse bursts of independence, that battles in the Deeps of Karaz-a-Karak, and in the deeps of her own soul and mind.
Who sent a message which arrived before the Emperor's did by way of Sigmarite courier rather than dwarf ambassador.
For instance, on such matters of assumption and faith. I myself injured my elbow when imagining that I could handle the highest cable weight for triceps exercise at the gymnasium, to the point of lifting the entire stack. I did so before! Except, shock, pain, confusion! Despite prior successes at similar deeds and acts, the momentary conditions (level of sleep, nutrition the prior day, grip, prior exercises differing with a changing routine) were different! Different enough, despite my ignorance of the issues potential caused, that an injury was sustained despite prior success multiple times.
Furthermore, I believe I espied a question about the size of the Black Arks. Hark! They are massive edifices. How massive? Why, they are cities! Elven cities, to be sure, but cities all the same. Floating cities, pieces of Ulthuan - specifically that dread land known as Nagarythe - that were forcibly broken off with ludicrously powerful and intricate spellcraft. These are heavily fortified cities of the elden days of yore, when the elven peoples were at their height. While some Black Arks, yes, are smaller than others, the difference is somewhat negligible when a large actual entire city-sized island comes crashing down onto one's coast. Such cities carry with them slaves aplenty, for pleasure and punishment, cruel druchii in significant number, monstrous beasts, and even ??? on occasion. They come complete, every one, with attendant fleets of raider vessels eager to plunder and destroy, swift and deadly ships that are afeared across the Old World and beyond! Do not be tricked by certain names, like
Tower of Suffering, for an individual Black Ark has many towers, buildings, streets and walkways, bridges and dungeons, gladiatorial arenas, palatial manors, barracks, foundries, assembly areas, towers of respite and training for certain beasts gifted with flight, and places of dread ritual, all within their walls.
Hark!
They are big.
