I thought their purpose was to maintain coverage of our interior? As for durability, I honestly don't think it would matter much if our science ships used TP for a hull, because they aren't meant for front line combat. They are meant as surveyors, telling us what we have within the federation, which is something that we desperately need right now.Four, with one more on the way. The only real purpose our Oberths serve is to provide a Science roll in sectors where we can't afford to put an Excelsior. We don't want to spam out science ships until we've designed a newer one that's slightly more durable.
This Is probably a joke, but I kinda hope it doesn't go like this :/I'd be content with three 5YMs. I'll rest after fifteen years. (Then we can directly chuck her directly into the Admiralty like Kirk > : P)
Agreed. It's a different set of skills saving the Federation with one ship, maybe two, compared to wrangling a whole stack of hulls across a sector. This Is probably a joke, but I kinda hope it doesn't go like this :/
Probably Syndicate TF commander, EC Ops director, Academy Commandant, SF Intel, EC Commander, then Tactical. This Is probably a joke, but I kinda hope it doesn't go like this :/
This somehow makes me think of Seruk picking out Job Description Forms and taunting Nash with them.Probably Syndicate TF commander, EC Ops director, Academy Commandant, SF Intel, EC Commander, then Tactical.
Those are the jobs I can see Nash doing, approximately in order.
It already won't be. None of the existing Constellations is named Stargazer. But the spirit of the Stargazer (an old ship, a clunky ship in ways, but a well-loved one) is preserved if we make her a Constitution-B.
Given that Vulcans are much longer-lived than humans, Andorians, or Tellarites, I suspect they have different rules for seniority. Otherwise, all senior command slots would be occupied by Vulcans, because a Vulcan can keep working up through the age of 100 or 150 before retirement. So it may well be that Saavik has to accrue considerably more seniority in grade before she's eligible for flag rank.Interesting that Saavik is going for a 10 year captaincy. I suppose it's too early to promote her to Commodore, as it's her first command.
Just out of curiosity, where did you see that? I seem to have missed some important source of information that everyone else but me possesses.

Btw, where is the personnelI've found that the way of determining relative age for Vulcanoids seems to be AGE/2 + (Whatever number is made by cutting of the 1s column)
ie 54= (54/2) +5 for 32 total
100 equals 60
64 equals 38

Half the age, plus about one tenth of the age...
So... three fifths of the age, then.
7 are under construction and we're voting for an eighth now. After that probably no more as we'll be building Renaissances.
It this vote goes like it has been going, we will have eight under construction.
As for next year, well, if this year's vote has been a bit boring I expect a lot of lively debate next year. We will have tons of options on how many Miranda refits we want to do versus starting some Centaur-As versus some Oberths or even possibly another Constitution-B (though I would recommend against).
So at least 8, maybe 9 if people really push for it.
EDIT: I kind of like the symbolism of 8. Weren't there 8 Constitutions in the original flight? Now 8 in the very last flight. Symbolic!
After tweaking the spreadsheet a bit to take into account bonuses from expected research and Indorian membership (and assuming no additional mining colonies, affiliates, etc. other than what's already in the spreadsheet), we can fit in 2 more Connie-Bs in 2312, and delay the Constellation-A refit project to 2313. Still refits all 11 Mirandas and same Excelsior construction schedule. Might delay 2 Renaissances to make room for Constellation-A refits, or mothball a Constellation or so.
The advantages of that would be:
1) It shortens the "no cruiser commissioned" gap from 2315-2316 to just 2316, with 2 more Connie-Bs being completed by 2315, increasing our defense more rapidly.
2) If the ship design spreadsheet revamp goes through or an alternative ship refit spreadsheet is available by 2313, we could design a better refit (expected to be more expensive, but not in crew costs). Or there's the chance we could get a better refit design from Oneiros anyway by 2313, since the 2304 refit design would be nearly a decade old by then.
I can totally get behind this.
The problem is that we bandwagon'd, and now we are stuck with these two.[X][CREW] Explorer Corps

Let's save the Kirk for one of the Ambassadors.
I could, but I want a clunker for Picard more.
Picard doesn't need a clunker though. One denies Picard a clunker, and the other denies a good Ambassador name.
I want to give him one though, and that's reason enough for a tactical vote against.
I doubt an Excelsior would be considered a clunkerI want to give him one though, and that's reason enough for a tactical vote against.
