Draft Plan:
[ ] Starfleet Command - Mobilise an Asset (Spock?)
[ ] Federation Emergency Council - Expand Federation Mobilisation Level
[ ] Andorian Ambassadorial Team - Diplomatic Push on Romulans
[ ] Starfleet Engineering Command - Crash Build Machado IV Outpost w/ Extended Sensors (+2 Science for Scanning)
[ ] Andorian Civil Engineering Team - Fortify Indi Beta Outpost
[ ] Starfleet Medical Command - Create Evacuation Hub on Machado IV, Andor Sector
[ ] Starfleet Infectious Disease Institute - Biophage Vaccine Research Rush
[ ] Starfleet Tactical Command - Tiger Team - Biophage Combat Research Rush
[ ] Starfleet Tactical Command - Runabout Recon Squadron - Scout Neutral Zone Area 6
[ ] Commodore T'Faer - RBZ Sector Fleet - Scout Neutral Zone Area 1

I think I grabbed the most useful task for each team, let me know if I missed something. This is mostly just prep for future turns.

Hmm, how about maybe using the Andorian Ambassadorial team to request Betazoid empaths instead? Or see about getting the Klingons involved?

If we can do Mobilize An Asset twice, we should. We've got room for two more teams right now so raising the mobilization level isn't necessary at the moment.

Other than that, pretty much what I was going to post.

Leader: "How'd the hobo get in here?"
Hobo: "I snuck in. Sneaky like."
L: "You infiltrated a closed door meeting, in a military station, past multiple layers of security, while in space? ... Looking like that, no less!"
H: "You say the space bit like it should make things harder" *Drinks booze from brown bag, waves fly away from face, lands on hat that should go in a museum, after it had been run through a cleaner"
L: "...What are you even doing here?"
H: "Saw your wanted add, figured I'd give it a go." *Hic*
L: "...There is an empty bed in Section 31 of this station. Go there, lie down. When you wake up, go home."
H: "Thank you kindly. Never had a bed before, might stick around..."

And that, is why Section 31 doesn't exist.

Given how close we've already come to war with the Romulans, and how important clear lines of communication are in the current crisis, I feel this is slightly more important.

Also, establishing an embassy to prevent something like this ever happening again should rank pretty highly.

Do we need to name the asset, or is it more generic? I didn't have a second asset in mind.

You can try. Last he was seen, he was dressed in an ill-fitting uniform, with a bundle of invitations under one arm, and a "Paperwork for Dummies!" book in the other.

Incidentally, have you seen Section 31 of the station recently? The door seems to have wandered off again...

1741 "Dear Hobo friends, did you know about a thing called 'Replicators?'..."

@OneirosTheWriter: Is it intended that T'Faer can scout Neutral Zone Area 1, but nothing else?
Sorry for the confusion, NZ Area 1 was also supposed to also have the Ops tag, which was missing.

As the scenario develops, tasks for you to hand down to T'Faer will become available.

Hmm. I might need to reassess how I handle T'Faer and her force...

I'm happy with the Above.

However, I'm waffling between setting both fleets to heavy patroling so that we can try to run down what we can now, or to defend outposts so that both sides have a month to organize and marshal before going on the offensive.

Of course I also wonder about setting one to patrol and the other to defence to try to flush the units out. I would set them both to own initiative, except at this point we can't be certain that the actions taken by each side will be done in tandem or if they will start tripping over feet, or just plain not synchronize without direction from on high. T His is very early in, we've only just starting to enter panic mode.

The commander of our fleet would be simultaneously researching how to best cooperate with Romulans, and the Enterprise is part of their fleet, so I don't think not trying to coordinate is much of a risk.

When asked about the appointment of another human officer to the senior postings of Starfleet, Vice Admiral Eriksson refused to comment, saying that it was not her place to comment on the appointments process.
It's not like we're replacing aliens with humans, come on! And besides, she was the best person for the job (unless she wasn't) :> Don't be space racist!

Edit: Actually, more than even the Human thing, don't think I haven't noticed that this thread has yet again maintained their 99.99% selection record of female characters
Shit. Figured it out, did you? Well. That just means you can't leave :}

Biophage Vaccine Research Rush

I know everyone wants to rush to vaccine research, but wouldn't it be better to finish the general biophage research first? If we could stop the infection beam, that would be nearly as good as a vaccine... and probably much easier. I also have to guess that completing the general research would give big bonuses to the vaccine research. This may be a case where trying to go for what we want first (the vaccine) actually makes getting there slower.

I'm with Briefvoice on the biophage research angle.

I have to wonder, what stops the Beast from targeting non-federation populated worlds? Preferably low-tech and helpless. What about worlds that have no sapient life but still plenty of biomass?

Or what if it just leaves? It has a cloaked warbird, doesn't it? Sure, the core regions of the Federation and other local powers are probably more than capable of detecting it if it gets close... but what stops it from just going away and building strength elsewhere?
