While I am aware that the Federation Council regard the Ihrloth as an intelligent species, they may very well pose an inimical threat in their present form. If it comes to it, I am willing to accept such consequences as are necessary. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

T'Lorel be like "yeah I'ma genocide these people if need be."

I just hope someone can make a breakthrough on this. The things sensors showed in that quarantined area...

Yeah at this point this is pretty clearly a bioweapon of some sort-multiple outbreaks in different star systems during such a short period of time. I'm not saying it's the Romulans but it's probably the Romulans. Though I'm not discounting the idea that this thing is sentient and somehow escaped Ulith III on its own...

[Gained 5 Research Points, Gained 50 Special Resources, a mixed SR/RP colony is available at Biroth]

Eeeexcellent. A permanent increase to RP would be very useful.

Hey @Iron Wolf, @Amorous Intent did we ever settle on an Orion homeworld? Or are we still operating on, "Please dear space jebus don't bring it up"
My head canon is still that the various colonies of the old Orion Empire all claim to be their homeworld as a measure of protection against invaders, forcing them to go after every last world instead of trying for a decapitation strike. I think I just decided to create the actual homeworld whole cloth, naming it Alukk*.

*I've been using a mix of Malayalam and a bit of Portuguese to represent the Orion language. Alukk means dirt, which is an appropriately unoriginal name for a homeworld.

is the front page updated with the latest totals from this log? Asking so we can plan next year

Edit:looks like not. So, if my math is correct, we have 60rp (30+30) and 67pp(42+25) so far. That means we can activate a total of 6!!! research teams!

Sounds like a Romulan bioweapon, unless some third party is behind it all along. Some sort of terrorist group?

Meanwhile, nuking the sites is indeed the only way to be sure. :V

OK, with 67pp(and counting) and 60 rp in play, I'd say we get the Academy expanded, set up that sr/rp colony, and request a medical team. The last is important because with 6 teams, we can continue ALL the tech previously started(including sensors), as well as get started on warp tech to take advantage of our commander bonus.

As for bulding, well we only have a couple free slips at most, so I say we get a Centaur and begin scrapping the Soyuz's

Oh yeah those gains were awesome, +15 RP and +10 PP. Plus a mixed mining site which may be very profitable. Our research this coming phase will be amazing.

My bad, the Excelsior berth we requested should be finished and free, so we can start building another one right away. Still want to grab a centaur as well rather than a Constellation so we can start scrapping the Soyuz class

The berth finishes Q2 and we put build orders in Q1 so next year it will be open. Still I don't want to scrap ships until we either need their crew or resources or are bumping against the command limit. Also with our PP we may want to see about retiring one of the Admirals, ideally I would like to nudge one out every year or every other year.

Fellow members of the Nebulous Association of Like-Minded Thinkers for the Betterment of Starfleet:

We need a Medical research team.

This is, of course, not surprising to anyone who has been following the events in the Border Zone, but it is, I feel, imperative that we handle this with alacrity. Someone out there is using one of the vilest forms of warfare. Such carnophagic infections do not grow on their own, not to such resilience, not ex nihilo.

The efforts of our Explorers and fast-response captains are laudable, and, indeed, heroic, but they are all limited by the conditions of what ship-borne medical suites can provide, without the resources of a full, dedicated research complex.

The current carnophagic plague is still unresolved. There might be others to follow it.

But it is not, can not, be fear alone that motivates us to dedicate the resources of the United Federation of Planets to the advancement of the biomedical sciences. We should do this for our Explorers, braving unknown worlds, we should do this for our Security teams, always ready to take the hits that others couldn't, we should do this for every ensign and every able spacer.

We should do it for everyone in the UFP.

...I dunno, that still sounds pretty much like fear alone motivating us. Which is fine. Fear is a vastly underrated motive.

Oh hey, we actually will have 65 rp and 70pp!

Ok, so teams to activate:

  • Vulcan Science Academy(sensors)
  • Starfleet Science Acedemy(Comms)
  • Daystrom Institute(Computers)
  • Spock to continue Xeno
  • Yoyodyne Propulsion Systems(Warptech)
The last team should be either a requested medical team, or the highest skill team left to do med research. That plague is starting to get rather annoying

Shipyard Ops 2303.Q1
Starfleet Commander's Log, Stardate 21122.5

My second year in the office, and Starfleet is moving along nicely. The campaign to expand our explorer operations continues apace. The new large berth at 40 Eridani A is on schedule for opening in a couple months, and it looks like Vice Admiral Valentina Sousa is settling in nicely.

That said, we have had not one but two of our Explorers dry-docked during the last year, the worst of it the old USS Cheron, who has had to be repaired at considerable cost, with an entire new warp core constructed and fitted. Still, although we have lost good people, our ships have returned to space anew. We will never step back from the gauntlet that space throws at us every day. We will always answer the challenge.

Computer, End Log

Candidates for Shipyards Ops:

[ ][SYO] Vice Admiral Valentina Sousa
Human Female, 52
Current posting: Returning from sabbatical
Vice Admiral Sousa was one the handful of candidates you beat out to become the commander of Starfleet. She has been politicking heavily to lay claim to Shipyard Ops, as if she doesn't get the assignment, she will most likely be forced into retirement. If selected, gain +20 Political Will and +5/year while she is in the job.

==========================

A small, petite woman moves to the front of the conference room and clears her throat. Every last person who hails from Shipyard Operations sharpens immediately at the sound. You have to grin at that. Vice Admiral Valentina Sousa may not have the most intimidating stature, but her eyes burn with vigour. Her will could flatten mountains that dare get in her way. Thunn sa'Asharr was a solid hand on the tiller, but Sousa will brook no slack in her department. You see her new Chief of Staff, a newly minted flag officer, and someone you had considered for a role commanding a Five Year Mission, Trinnarv Xursh. Rinias ch'Vohlet, the San Francisco Fleet Yards boss, his counterpart Sivrk from 40 Eridani A, and a host of others, including members from Sanik's Ship Design Bureau and Chen's Explorer Corps.

These are all steadily becoming familiar faces to you, people you are comfortable working with. You suspect there will be another new face sometime soon, however. Rumour has reached you that the head of Starfleet Operations, Vice Admiral Donald Hamsfeld, is thinking of retiring back to Earth and his home town of Chicago. He has been a faithful servant of Starfleet, but you can't say that you will be upset to see him leave, as he guarded his portfolio's prerogatives zealously.

"Good morning, officers," says Sousa, and you have no idea how that solid a noise comes out of that small a person. "We have a few things on our plate for today. A new berth will open shortly, and the berth used to repair the Cheron is clear. Do we wish to lay down new shipping this year, or leave it clear. And we need to arrange for the crews for the half-finished Oberths."

"Very well, officers, you have your plan, now let's put this into action!"

Hrm, you didn't qactually list which berths were free, otherwise we'll assume all of them ar eand that's wrong because I KNOW we used the large and most of the small berths last year

We can also save up some RP sow e can run the same 4-x tech teams *next* year, too.
