I'm imagining some Cardassian Legate sitting in the middle of Central Command, finger hovering over the dispatch button, nervously eyeing the little "95% Chance of Success" Icon.

He's played "C-COM: Enemy Ka'Sharren" enough to know that those are terrible odds, but he clicks anyway.
A normal Excelsior would have had a 4.4% chance, or in other words, the Lorgat and the Karnack would actually have had a 95.6% chance against the Enterprise according to their scans.

Since I've started dabbling in NCC registries, should member world ships...

Considering a) The weirdness of the registry number inflation in canon and b)the aforementioned bonus...

That's X-Com baby! *Thin man thumbs up*

So let's compare combat stats:

Cardassian Battlecruiser - C7, H3, L5; Crew 6-6-3
Cardassian Cruiser (Jaldun class) - C4 S3 H4 L4 P3 D4; Crew 3-4-3

Excelsior - C6 S5 H4 L5 P5 D6; Crew 6-5-5
Constitution Refit B [Cruiser] - C5 S3 H3 L4 P3 D5; Crew 3-4-4

Not too terrible I guess, but a battlecruiser is a little tougher than a basic Excelsior.

That was seriously bullshit. I was expecting the Enterprise to squeak by but to come out unscathed and destroying the battlecruiser? Holy shit.

I hope the Enterprise got really good scans of the battle and picked up some samples. Minefield Goldmine for intelligence.

A while ago @lbmaian mentioned adding a grid to the map, and I have been thinking about it on and off and finally tried it out. I'm not sure it would help all that much with showing things in 3d if that becomes necessary, but it would probably make it easier for @OneirosTheWriter to decribe distances when choosing to do so. The lines would be about 10 lightyears appart. What do you think?

I like it.

I have two suggestions you can try separately to make those z-axis lines have perspective:
a) draw a tiny faded oval around the point where the z-axis line intersects the map plane, and also make the z-axis line faded
b) replace the z-axis line with a really thin faded isosceles triangle with the triangle base on the map plane, so that it looks like a thin cone stand

BTW, could you compute the odds of that battle with that fancy combat calculator you have? Wondering exactly how bullshit that victory was. :D

Yes, there are currently member world fleets. Once they've joined they'll start transitioning from their own designs to Starfleet designs. The four founding members are already using it.

At present:
-Okay, the table looks fine in preview but then blows up, will have to figure out later-

Actually, one petty vote I've been meaning to ask.

honestly it would be more realistic if overtime the Starfleet designs changed as well to incorporate elements from the new races as i refuse to believe anyone who joins would be fine with or even have their crew able to adapt to radically different ship layouts.

Seems like it would lead to less confusion, and I like having the member worlds with their own flair. Plus CAS Riala just sounds better than NCC Riala to me.

I just realized how badly the upper levels of Cardassian politics are reeling.

The Central command just lost a BattleCruiser and and a Cruiser for literally no gain.

And the Obsidian Order just burned contacts and lost a Cruiser in an attempt to scare off Federation allies and less than a year later we're gaining a new full member.

There must be full scale panic going on in the upper levels of the Cardassian government. Their entire policy towards us in the last three years has been a total and unmitigated disaster at this point. (I don't know what the likely response is. @anon_user is the Cardassian expert. Not me)

But wow, shit must be going down, the knives must furiously stabbing into political backsides and careers going up in flames.

I know we've been talking off and on about a refit for the Excelsior, do we want to start work on it now that we know how our explorer stacks up against their Battlecruiser?

Mmmmaybe? The problem with an Excelsior refit is that we'd need to put them in drydock.

As far as new explorers go, I'd rather prioritize the Ambassador over an Excelsior refit. However, I don't think either will be doable in time for the Cardassian War. Unless the Cardies are too scared of us to fight now.

I'm not quite sure what you mean with faded in this context, I moved the z-lines below everything else on the symbols layer, is that it?

I already did, as you may have seen by now.

I wonder if we can make an Explorer that can go up against two of its peers, and win more than half the time...
