SF Fleet Yards already is a skill 3 Explorer team though. A 2nd one seems a little redundant to me.

My preference is either Lathriss or the Personal Tech team, leaning towards Personal Tech.

@OneirosTheWriter Am I imagining things, or do I remember correctly that you were planning to split up research into multiple subsections?

Because in that case, having duplicate teams is not at all redundant.

Amarki is now a full Member of the Federation.

Resources provided by the Amarkians increases to 50br, 25sr, 5rp, 10pp
The +0.05 affiliate level intakes are improved to O-1, E-1, T-1, with an additional .25 each as Explorer Corps.
Cha-ching!

As for the vote:

[X][RD] Admiral Lathriss, Defensive Doctrine, Skill 3

Very tempted by the explorer team. That gives us the ability to begin work on a new explorer design immediately.
On the other hand, I don't believe we currently have any researchers who specialize in defensive fleet doctrines; do we want to start pursuing that research in the near future?

With Lone Ranger finishing next year, we can just replace it with one of the Defensive Doctrines.

Personal tech is probably the worst choice long term, it's the only tech team I can see Risa offering, and Batazed would probably either be Personal Tech or Xenopsychology (which is well covered unless it's also being split up?). Orions seem likely too, as well as the already mentioned Rigellians.

Warp tech seems among the most important to have double coverage for, seeing that it's going to be split up into two projects that are probably both still going to be very important.

@OneirosTheWriter the Tiger Team is currently listed with preference "Doctrine", does that encompass Defensive Doctrine as well, or are they going to be limited to one type and if so which?

[X][RD] Amarkian Arsenal - Riala Team, Ship Design (Explorer), Skill 3

Correct, soon research will split so that multiple teams in the same field makes more sense. And given that Starfleet is all about the Explorers....

No, not worth the decrease in reliability.
Frankly, IMHO not-quite-perfect reliability isn't such a problem. As long the hull and the warp core are reliable, the occasional system malfunction really isn't such a big deal. It's only the aforementioned two that we really need to watch out for.

Of course the Ambassador design above actually has pretty bad Hull reliability. Hmm... let me try and fix that.

There. 10 sr cheaper and much better hull reliability. Alternatively...

Same as above, but saves an additional 10 sr in exchange for lower nacelle reliability.

EDIT/ Sadly, after recent changes to the ship designer, these designs appear to be illegal now.

I'd really like a more balanced development. Way too much obsession with explorers going on here.

[X][RD] Pan-Amarkia Goods, Personal Tech, Skill 2

@OneirosTheWriter will we get access to the Riala ship design and if so, will we be able to build it? If so, please put the stats on the front page.

We've got a shipbuilding turn coming up, and I'd be seriously willing to consider building a Riala instead of an Excelsior.

You can request it from Council, but there is some definite reluctance on the part of the Council to approve a member world ship design for Starfleet use.

Could we please delay this vote until we know what the specializations of our current teams actually are and what techs the specializations of the teams on offer even apply to?

Kuznetsova's Group is Fleet Design Doctrine specialisation.

Okay, the Research Megapost is partly updated, and Warp Technology and each Ship Design have three categories each. In light of this, I'll probably change my vote.
