[X][RD] Pan-Amarkia Goods, Personal Tech, Skill 2

Guys, weren't we going for a cruiser first? Why the heck are we doing explorers which don't solve are current ship shortage issue?

Almost all the Oberth successor designs I've seen so far are just the Centaur but better, so it'd be less a supplement and more of a replacement.
Give me a moment to design something more Oberth-like...

Time for the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-C)? Hell yes.
If a 1.4% Failure rate is OK, then yea the Ambassador Class is doable now.
4 Year project, 50sr less than the front-page design. Done with the latest spreadsheet version as of this post.

Looks like GM just fixed the issue with Structural Integrity Fields not effecting reliability, so a lot of designs that I've seen pushing those levels high will need to be re-assessed.

We need cruisers first. I really don't want the fleet coming online in twenty years after all the borders are on fire

I don't think we have a team for personal tech yet.
Oof. It's great for science, but anything just looks at that thing wrong and it goes poof. Needs a little more hull and shields IMO.

Guys, the Excelsior is still fine and will be for a while. Right now, we need a better Light Cruiser, not a better Explorer.

Picking this for the casualty reducing techs. More manpower!

Ouch, that pretty much invalidates all of my previous designs as it will put hull around 90%~ reliability. :p Any way if we're doing the ambassader class I'd drop a point from hull so we can add one to both presence and Reaction/defence.

When Nash asks Stesk about it, he smiles and tells her that every culture he has ever met has some variant of the phrase, "Too good to be true." The promise the Federation makes of friendship, cooperation, and safety sounds like its too good to be true. It doesn't take much to start people wondering whether they're being sold on a pipe dream.

The Councillor goes on to say, "There is a paradoxical condition among many sentient species, that makes people believe that something that comes with a clear cost is preferable. Life as a Cardassian client is objectively worse than life as a member of the Federation, but I believe that to many it satisfies their need to make 'hard choices."

It's a maladaptive behavior for a post-scarcity society, but it's adaptive for a scarcity-based mindset. Essentially the Cardassians are still reacting like they're stuck in a permanent resource-poor situation when in fact it's perfectly possible for them to thrive with the available resources...

Too bad there is no Starship Construction team available.

The Rigellians will very likely have Personal Tech available, Warp Tech is reasonably likely to be available from many others. The two teams least likely to be available from other affiliates are Explorers and Defensive Doctrine and both are skill 3 too, so we should probably pick between them.

Regardless of that taking the personal tech team is pointless were not remotely so rich with RP we're going to run personal tech over basically any other tech team we currently have available and we could requisition a skill 2 team via PP.

So choosing the 2 skill team is rather a terrible choice.

You're not wrong. And we are doing cruisers first. That doesn't mean we shouldn't start getting to work on a new explorer design soon. The Excelsior is not all that modern anymore.

Hmm, if we pick the Defensive Doctrine, we can run that when Lone Ranger gets finished.

You say the Rigellians will probably have Personal Tech, but how long will it take until they'd join us? I don't think we're currently rushing any affiliates towards membership, with our ship shortage.

I don't think it matters. We need something like 100 RP before we'd burn RP on personal tech.

There are something like 12 tech groups which are more important to us than Personal right now. 108 RP a year we'd spend before personal tech gets the bump, even with computing tech dropping soonish dropping the cost of a tech team to 8RP we'd still be looking at 96.

And yet we're going to burn RP to activate two Explorer Design Teams at the same time?

If we pick the Defensive Doctrine Team, we can just activate it instead of the Combat Doctrine Team that'll finish next year anyway, no real increase in the amount of RP needed.
