BOTH the Risan colony worlds are full of deathworld predators? Talk about bad luck.

Still, killer bunnies are an order of magnitude less awful than fluffy puffies, and several orders less than the giant psionic death starfish.

Bring the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch!

Got to admit though, they've adopted a downright clever and competent SOP in regards to their explorations:
" As is apparently standard procedure for the Risan teams, upon encountering things that would like to eat them, the Risans beamed out of the area and requested Starfleet aid."

Just imagine if most people in sci-fi behaved like that. 90% of horror sci-fi movie plots would be averted real quick. Hell, some of Star Trek episode shenanigangs would be averted if away teams went "Nope, not poking that one. I may be Starfleet, but I am not an astrophysicist/chemist/geologist/xenobiologist/xenoarcheologist, I'll better beam out and tell the XO there's something iffy down here."

Risan people, you may originate from a paradise planet, grew up believing the universe is all daisies and sunshine, and often come across as too chill pacifist with more than a touch of naivete, but damn if you don't learn fast and damn if you don't learn well!

@OneirosTheWriter, filling in my preliminary EOY template...

With only the Q4 GBZ update to go (which shouldn't result in any immediate resource pickup given lack of prospector finds in Q3 GBZ), I have a preliminary 2316 EOY audit:

Assumptions
- Starting off with EOY 2315 (where there are inconsistencies there, using the more detailed info as official source)
- As discussed in private conv, Sol's 105br contribution should be fixed to be 95br to correspond with the actual 2310 budget increase and the computed annual incomes since 2310

Notes
- Should aux ship builds be included here? I went ahead and listed the ones commenced and commissioned in Lasieth shipyard.
- Despite the starting annual income being listed as 130pp here, last year's EOY actually had 140pp annual income, because we forgot to remove Viraan zh'Dohlen's 10pp bonus upon promotion that year (oops...well it helps compensates for earlier discrepancies)

Captain's Log, USS Endurance, Stardate 26209.1

The Risan colony of Third Risa has added yet another spectacular and potentially lethal predator to its mix. The southern continent contains deep valleys, which contain a variety of incompletely catalogued lifeforms. One of these valleys, near the polar regions, is apparently home to small, long-eared creatures that make their homes along untapped seams of Nythenium Phosphate, using the nutrients in some form of hibernation process. The unassuming little creatures stick to their burrows unless startled, at which point they become a very high speed engine of gnawing and destruction. As is apparently standard procedure for the Risan teams, upon encountering things that would like to eat them, the Risans beamed out of the area and requested Starfleet aid.

Didn't mention it before, but I am genuinely amused that the Risans apparently intend to simply call all their colony worlds "Risa" with a number attached. Second Risa, Third Risa, Fourth Risa, etc. They love their home so much, they think every world should be a Risa.

Now, one hopes that this does not lead to booking errors down the line for vacations.

"Honey, the queue for a trip to Risa is amazingly short! We can get a trip out there next year. All I had to do was apply to the Second Risa Waiting List... guess they need to juggle two waiting lists for some reason?"

Wait, Straak is designing the Kepler?

If ex-EC characters still gave bonuses we could probably get a freebie bonus to mineral events on the Kepler class for that.

Captain Alexandra Kuznetsova - Assigned to Mission Control Director, Operations, Starfleet Explorer Corps
*raised eyebrows*

Robert Kenichi - Assigned to Captain, USS Lion
Assigned to ka'Sharren's old command? I don't recall him serving in the Lion before (that was Mrr'shan IIRC), but interesting coincidence.

Goddamnit. So much for Mrr'shan's second FYM.
Technically, she isn't listed as leaving the EC panel of captains :V

But yeah, I guess she did want to move up rather than take a 2nd FYM.

Is Straak taking a sabbatical? Not seeing his new post, and there's no retirement notice.
He's basically in charge of the Kepler project.

Second Risa is only very, very superficially similar to Risa.

Well, maybe he could finagle survey sensors into the final design, even though that would normally be impossible because they only become available a year before the end of the design process.

To be fair, Risans are actually very good at terraforming, so if we give them time, they'll probably be able to turn Additional Risas into worlds as pleasant to live on as Risa. Once the megafauna are under control, and they'll probably get the hang of that within a few decades... Soon we'll be looking at just another instance of Risa! :)

OH MY GOD THAT IS HOW IT WORKS IN STAR TREK ONLINE.

EDIT:

They will hire that one crazed Amarki xenobiologist as their consultant, and he will succeed. Everyone's happy except the evil psychic starfish-monsters. The end.

They have an incredible knack for weather control and geoforming. Bioremission, not so much.

Dalen Quaice - Assigned to Junior Doctor, USS Grace

This is Dr. Crusher's mentor for those not in the know

Robert Kenichi - Assigned to Captain, USS Lion
Arthur Acheson - Assigned to Captain, USS Svai
Stol - Assigned to Captain, USS Agile

I like that pretty much as soon as Enterprise goes up, like her entire senior staff is finally forced to move to other commands.

Enterprise-B Officers Currently with ship commands:
Dremora Sulu (Helm): Voshev
Maryam Ajam (XO): Stargazer
Leaniss Larai (Diplomatic Officer): Renaissance
Douglas Zardmani (Science Officer): Torbiel
Jennifer Zhang (Tactical Officer): Challorn
Arthur Acheson (Security): Svai
Stol (Helm): Agile
Robert Kenchi (Engineering): Lion

That's some goddamn special Officer Juice that Enterprise has.

Captain Alexandra Kuznetsova - Assigned to Mission Control Director, Operations, Starfleet Explorer Corps

Alexandria has a sort of office assignment version of wanderlust. She wants to put all the data in her eyes, and try all the tasks.

(You misspelled her name BTW Oneiros. On the other hand I HER PARENTS sort of invited it by giving her such a weird and finicky name)

It would still be nice if they had an agency of their own that could handle this sort of thing, instead of relying entirely on Starfleet.

This is probably going to be the norm with less-established spacegoing species, honestly. I'm surprised the Tauni don't have us speeddial too, and I suspect the Ataami will as well. They know they don't have the organizational experience and resources we do.
