Not jumping on the Straak train? He seems fairly popular as an alternate choice.

Also I have to wonder if this vote isn't a little weird. @OneirosTheWriter, are you looking at which Captains have the most overall votes regardless of their placement, or are people's votes strictly counted as Captain + Placement? For example, I'm looking at @aledeth 's vote. He and I clearly both want Michel Thuir as a 5YM Captain, but I'm worried because he's putting Thuir as the Courageous' captain and I'm putting him as the Miracht's our vote is effectively split.

V O T I N G S Y S T E M S

Shoot, miscounted, changed

[X][TLOREL] Director of Operations, Starfleet Explorer Command, +2 pp/year
[X][EATON] Director, Starfleet Data Modelling, Ship Design Bureau, +1 to Sensor Research

[X][FYM] Select Captains
-[X] USS Courageous: Maram Ajam
-[X] USS Sarek: Straak
-[X] USS Miracht: Michel Thuir

[x][COM] Commodore Viraan zh'Dohlen

I want Sulu, but I want him moving up, not sideways. Will wait till it's an actual promotion, not just reassignment.

[X][COM] Rear Admiral Hikaru Sulu

I will say that the mirror universe log killed most of my enthusiasm for actually finishing the Ballad of Captain T'Lorel a.k.a. 'I phasered them and now we're friends: the musical'.

By the way, the Mirror Verse has clearly shown that we are too good. The counterparts are extremly, cartoonishly EVIL because we are that good.
If we went a bit closer to neutral, maybe the counterparts woulld become more pragmatically evil and we would make an entire universe a better place.
Is that not worth sacrificing a bit of our moral highground?

Intentionally going without design techs and pretty reasonable for that. Nice fine-tuning of the energy budget. Whether It would actually make sense for us to do it like that (no design techs) is a separate issue, and I don't think so, but you clearly grasp how to do it.
How about the ships themselves compared to their peers?

What level of design techs would you recommend?

While the fans call them mirror universe, that's only a nickname, not a fact.

What if the actual nature of said multiverse is merely an "eviler than thou" universe. Then becoming less good would be worse.

If they want him somewhere, they can force out the Old Guard Tactical Admiral so we can slide Sulu in

"Reputation is nice and all, and Rear Admiral Sulu certainly deserves his, but I choose my officers based on their skills. I will not deny his talent, but it just so happens that the others have what I need more."

2311 Q1 Fleet
Excelsiors 11 = 66C, 66D, 55S
Constitution 1 = 5C, 5D, 4S
Refitted Constellations 8 = 32C, 32D, 24S
Oberths 4 = 4C, 4D, 20S
Centaurs 4 = 12C, 8D, 8S
Miranda 10 = 30C, 20D, 10S

Assumes all 4 Soyuz and 1 Miranda has been scrapped. I really, really want to scrap those Soyuz. It would be a disaster if one actually responded to a random mission.

Total Fleet:
38 Ships
149 Combat
135 Defense
121 Science

Of course we may build more ships than that if the resources are there once UP comes online, but as a target what does everyone think of the above?

@OneirosTheWriter

There are some bugs with the ship design sheet that I've found for how the warp core jumps to the next level up even though there is still enough power available due to power core rating design fudge factor.

How about the ships themselves compared to their peers?

What level of design techs would you recommend?
It's not very clear what role the ships are supposed to have, and what do you mean by peers? They have a relatively low defense stat so they wouldn't be good for home defense, but otherwise they are fine.

Depends on many factors, the skill level of the design team, whether you need it finished quickly for some external reason, how long the prototype would take, whether you need the savings for something specific you are aiming for, the outlook for berth/resource/crew availability, how adequate the previous ship class of that type still is...
