My reasoning: +2pp per year is better than the other options, and Sensor Research is something we're doing every turn. I'm persuaded by the argument that Rosalee's marriage would only suffer from being on a 5YM, so I'll say goodbye to her with good grace. And fuck Captain Revak, I'm not giving that political animal a goddamn 5YM. Not in a million years, and not if he gave +300pp per year.

Oh, and Sulu is Sulu. I don't even care about his special ability, because it's second to "being awesome".

Why do people include the redundant "Captain" in the FYM vote when the format calls for leaving it out, as seen by the pre-filled vote for Nash?

Thuir's ability is a LOT better than it looks - distress calls are high-risk, high reward mission types. Add the political issues with picking Mbeki but not him and he's a very good pick. Ajam, of course, is a gimme. She's got the best ability we've seen since Nash's politically tacky plot shields.

I want to pick Sulu, but I want to have an actual ability more. If Sulu had an ability that will ever come up, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

He's 69. How long do you expect him to stay in that position? We'll probably never see any actual benefit from it (we are far under the cap at the moment). Save him for some other position, there are a few more he's qualified for.

There is a serious argument for Sulu besides "we like him".

One day I want Sulu to be head of Starfleet. In order to make that happen, we need to keep him in Starfleet, and it's "up or out". He survived being passed over for one promotion, but he might not survive being passed over twice. So I consider the promotion an investment to having him one day replace us.
 
+5pp and +5rp are worth more to us than any other ability could be. Because they always apply, while the other ones, besides Ajam's are situational and might not come up even once a year.

This is just a sideways move though, he's qualified for tactics which is an actual vice admiral position.

This isn't a promotion. This is a transfer. Sulu's already a Rear Admiral. This job is a rear admiral job.

Does Kumari get Rachel Ainsworth's bonuses despite not being an Explorer ship? It does have a veteran crew, after all, and taunting us with a double-stat shiny that we can't actually befit from just isn't nice.

Just a note but if you're making a 1 scale ship you can reuse the already designed Constitution secondary hull. The Constitution Secondary hull is scale 1 and comes with 2 levels of built in weight saving which you could port across for no cost in research. I'm not sure if that opens the ship up for a bump in stats any where though.

Nope, only EC ships get those boni, as seen during the battle of Kadesh.

Agreed. Sulu's bonuses at Tactical vice admiral should be sweet.

Now if only we could get Uhura for a Comms research team. She's criminally unappreciated. Seriously, she's the one who figured out how to take out the fire-while-cloaked BoP in The Undiscovered Country.
