What, that tally is messed up. I didn't vote for both 'A 2v2 with any Ships' and 'A Fleet "Battle"'. Looks like the built-in tally system still has bugs to work out, since even ignoring its lack of support for tasks, a line-item vote tally shouldn't have inaccuracies.

NetTally results, which fortunately still result in same votes winning:

[X][ROLES] Update the Combat Escort requirements (+2 Militarisation)
No. of Votes: 1

Task: WG

[X] [WG] A Fleet "Battle". The Thirishar, Gale, Harmony, Astute, and Assist vs the T'Mir and runabouts to simulate civilian traffic. The Svai and Calypso are available as a reserve. The objective is to prevent the "mentat" on the T'Mir from penetrating the patrol area and destructively completing their thesis, which would result in the annihilation of Betazed. A second Oberth [Torbriel] is secretly participating as a decoy. [Please caucus this vote with the similar plan that does not use Thirishar, if it does not win] Cost: 6pp.
No. of Votes: 18

[X][WG] A 2v2 with any Ships, including member world ships - Gaeni Tech-Frigate and Tech-Cruiser versus an Excelsior [Excelsior] and a Miranda [Svai] with the explicit purpose of learning to counter a Tech-Ship doctrine.

The inbuilt tally decided your tally from back here:
And we're back to a tie again. Nearly three-way again too.

was your vote. NetTally knows better then that.

Ah okay, I believe that was the only built-in tally error, as shown by the inserted tally below. Not sure what @UbeOne did to generate something very different.

edit: I "filed" a bug report at https://forums.sufficientvelocity.com/posts/8201035/

So grinding through the votes for:
[][ROLES] Do Nothing [2.0x Weighting on this vote]
UbeOne's tally had AKuz, Godwinson, and AlphaDelta (correctly) voting for it while neither lbmaian's tallies did. lbmaian's NetTally had them (correctly) voting for "Do Nothing" while neither of the inserted tallies did.

The issue with UbeOne's Inserted Tally not having Ibamain voting for [Roles] is already covered by that tally counting Ibamain's old tally as their vote.

Ibamain's NetTally not detecting Akuz's, Godwinson's, and AlphaDelta's votes is because all three changed their [WG] votes later on but didn't include the [Roles] vote in their updated votes. UbeOne's Inserted Tally accurately showed their [Roles] vote because it inaccurately showed their [WG] votes since it showed their old votes not their updated ones.

Ibamain's Inserted Tally didn't detect Akuz's, Godwinson's, and AlphaDelta's [Roles] votes because like the NetTally it picked up that those three had changed their votes. It still had the issue of detecting Ibamain's old tally as their vote. Interestingly it didn't show their NetTally as their vote.

In short the problems are that the Inserted Tally is picked up spoilered votes as votes and there seems to be some abnormal delay in updates to the Inserted Tally. The delay is especially concerning since while there should be some delay as per:
  • When the tally is called, it displays the last tally executed on the thread
  • Only one tally may execute per thread, for all users. That is to say, if someone issues a tally after you (within the approximately five second time window it takes to complete the tally), they will see the same result you do. This is for performance purposes.
this seems far longer then described above.

Spoilered votes being picked up is by design. The issue here is that in this this post, you posted the tally without the header.

If you will note the second line, there is a transparent #####. By convention, Net Tally uses that to denote a vote tally, and my addon explicitly looks for these to exclude. If you do not want a post tallied, the ##### marker must be present.

Additionally, I would say the tally speed varies significantly by server load - the soonest a tally can appear is five seconds, but it can take longer than that.

EDIT: I've taken the liberty of editing your post and doing a tally.

@Firnagzen - UbeOne posted their tally at 8:58 pm GMT+10, Akuz updated her vote at 7:32 am GMT+10, AlphaDelta updated their vote at 8:05 am GMT+10, and Godwinson updated their vote at 1:50pm GMT+10. For the Inserted Tally to have recorded their old votes the last update to it would have had to have taken place before 7:32 am GMT+10 or a full 13 hours and 26 minutes before UbeOne posted their tally.

~13.5 hours is unacceptably long between updates which says to me there is something broken here.

... the tally does not automatically update. When you do a tally, it is a snapshot of the voter status at the time you tally it. When the overlay is called, it shows the last tally executed, with the time explicitly noted there. As you can see in Ubeone's post, it was tallied some 17 hours ago.

EDIT: See, that's a fresh tally. As of this posting, it says 'Tallied at: 5 minutes ago'. *points at post below*

Captain's Log - 2314.Q4.M1
Starfleet Intelligence Command, Flash Alert

All Command, All Stations.

Ultimatum issued to Arcadian Empire. All take steps to protect commands.

All Arcadian vessels encountered in Federation space to be inspected for mentats.

-

Captain's Log, USS Vigour, Stardate 25633.7

A report of Arcrinax Fever has been reported on the minor United Earth colony world of Thebes II. As the hospital ships are currently en route to the fleet gathering at Clover, we are the closest ships to the distress call. My chief medical officer has already been in touch with the colonial administration and we have adapted the typical Arcrinaxian anti-viral to address the mutation. By time we arrive in twelve hours, we should have enough anti-viral synthesised.

Captain's Log, USS Atuin, Stardate 25634.1 - Captain Vol Chad

While patrolling the Aspis Gulf we have encountered a Ked Paddah explorer with two escorts. I have made contact with them, and they have informed me that they are in pursuit of a ship suspected to be carrying a Mentat. Unfortunately it looks like the Atuin's own subspace wake has demolished the trail of the ship. They are not well pleased, that much is certain. However, I do have an opportunity for diplomacy, as their flag aide is beaming over to conduct face to face diplomacy.

-

Captain's Log, USS Cheron, Stardate 25634.8 - Captain Alryth th'Gannoth

An expedition team from Ferasa has ceased reporting in to Starbase 9. It is only a day's sprint from our current location, so the Cheron will take a detour to check in on the silent expedition.

Federation Broadcast News

The announcement of an ultimatum being issued against the Arcadian Empire of Morshadd to cease mentat operations immediately pending a summit on their future safe management has landed with all the impact of a supernova. Turmoil is gripping the capitals of almost all member worlds at the news, with mass demonstrations in many streets, but especially in Betazed and Vulcan. To many the thought that a diplomatic solution may be unreachable is proving to be an unthinkable shock, and the idea of the great industrial power of the Federation being turned around a single small polity deeply unsettling.

In conjunction with the announcement, the Council of the UFP is putting forth explanations of the danger posed by rogue mentats. Images of the Agamedes nova-like event and the critical damage caused to the USS Courageous is being broadcast widely. President N'Gir gave a press conference calling all the UFP as a whole to gather behind the member worlds and affiliates who are in the firing line of the mentats, and emphasised the threat not just to lives, but to the very structure of spacetime in our quadrant. Councillors of the Pacifist faction are said to be outraged, with one staff aide, speaking under anonymity, saying that after the closed Council session that approved the ultimatum, the pacifists in the Council staged a 36 hour strategy meeting to try to find a blocking mechanism.

-

Captain's Log, USS S'harien, Stardate 25635.3 - Captain T'Rinta

My science officer is reporting unusual sensor ghosts in a nearby system. I have directed the ship closer in the event that this is related to mentat activity. I personally have my own suspicions as to its origins, though.

-

Captain's Log, USS Cheron, Stardate 25635.6

The reason for the communications silence appears to be a massive high-energy storm that has enveloped the planet. To allow for a beam out, we used our deflector emitter to emit multi-phasic particles in a directed beam towards the expedition base. This forced a channel through the storm that we were able to direct our annular confinement beams through. All expedition members are currently in sickbay getting checked out, but all seem well.

In the meantime, my science officer is poring over the recordings of the event taken by the expedition to analyse the cause and look for warning signs in future.

Captain's Log, USS S'harien, Stardate 25636.2

We have entered the Pitara system and are conducting thorough sensor sweeps to turn up signs of the ghost readings. So far we have-

[Beeping sound, Yellow Alert sound]

Captain here, proceed Bridge. Understood. Continue Yellow Alert, maintain full shield strength, I am on my way. If the Daljerra hails, answer, I will be there shortly.

Federation Broadcast News

Reports are emerging that the growing Starfleet presence near the Arcadian border has a new overall commander. FBN sources indicate that Rear Admiral Victoria Eaton, of Sol III, has been appointed to the role. Rear Admiral Eaton has led a distinguished career thus far, having undertaken a five-year administration at the start of the Kahurangi administration, and later holding a senior role throughout the Anti-Slavery Task Force. Commentators familiar with Starfleet are welcoming the appointment. Despite this, some are complaining that the appointment continues to display a pro-human bias persisting in Starfleet, with the two forces controlling the majority of Starfleet's firepower now both under the command of human admirals.

-

Captain's Log, USS Atuin, Stardate 25636.6

Disaster, absolute disaster. I was unable to persuade the Ked Paddah flotilla to cooperate with us. It was deemed to be too imprudent to cooperate with a faction that is still not officially part of the war yet. Which was then compounded because in their attempt to regain the trail of the mentat, they navigated directly into a trap that temporarily disabled the explorer, causing the trail to grow completely cold. I have forwarded details as to the mentat ship on to Starfleet Command.

-

Captain's Log, USS S'harien, Stardate 25637.1

The Romulan Star Empire, as I suspected, is keeping tabs on the situation on their coreward border. The IRW Stormwind was apparently quite perturbed at being detected, but decided to take the opportunity to inquire as to Federation intentions. As the diplomat on the spot, I have answered to the best of my ability. The logs are, of course, available for perusal by Starfleet Command at the Diplomatic Service. However, my initial feeling is that we have successfully reassured the Romulans as to our intentions and their safety.

[Gain +10pp, avoid rise in tensions with RSE]

Chief of Staff Log, Starfleet Explorer Corps, Stardate 25638.4

I've asked Captain Mbeki and Commodore ka'Sharren to each get in touch with Captain Chad following a string of bad luck. He's not the first maiden voyage of an Explorer Corps ship to go to hell.

I'm confident that the lessons are being taken to heart on the Atuin and that they'll be much stronger for the run of adverse results.

[USS Atuin gain +1 Crew Rating]

Federation Broadcast News

The countdown to the ultimatum's deadline draws near. In two days time, we will know whether the United Federation of Planets will be at war. Despite some commentators early on in the ultimatum suggesting that the Council was bluffing, predicting a humiliating backdown if the Arcadian Emperor calls the bluff, Starfleet has continued to muster forces towards border systems. However, the top political commentators on Earth are suggesting that the Council and the President is deadly serious. If so, then peace hangs on the word of a distant autocrat.

Ok... Is it just me, or did the S'harien's log not complete this month?

Also, +10rp/15pp, and Atuin is Blooded, which is nice.

Poor Chad > : (

Yay Rihannsu! > : D

I'd actually completely stopped worrying about human dominance of Starfleet with the way things have been going lately. It literally didn't occur to me that both major Fleet Commanders are Human.

A shame we didn't get any improved relations with the Ked Paddah as well, but damn, Atuin's leveling fast. I wonder if they can reach Veteran before Vol Chad's tenure ends?

No negative impact on the relationship with Ked Paddah? Because if so I wouldn't call this a compete disaster ^^.

The thing about the human bias thing is that we just promoted the biggest wave of non-human flag officers and in particular, vice admirals, in Federation history. It's a story that opponents of the war are using to make United Earth, who us strongly in favor of the war, look bad. Victoria's commanding officer is an Andorian. Her task forces have mostly non-human commanders. Actually, isn't the only human Thuir? So we assigned Thuir and Harriman and Eaton, and that's literally it.

Politicians and activists making noise in the media.
