"Bochs is a mimic," Amy explained, a smile on her face as the creature released Gracia's hand without leaving more than a little saliva. "He mimics various inanimate objects, like picnic baskets, in the hope of someone or something getting close and then eating them."

"And it really likes female elves for some reason..."

"

Ah Frieren, a thousand plus year immortal elf that has killed so many demons during a mere ten-year journey that demons started calling her the slayer...

Also, a mage that likes to collect odd spells and magical junk who has does actually have a mimic detection spell but will open a chest the spell flags as a mimic anyway on the one percent chance it's not a mimic.

I think I understand; Streamlining the form will immensely improve her physicality but this drider's mindset and emotions are an overloaded mess and always will be as the truth of how bitter a disappointment Lolth finds her is quite literally ingrained into her soul. By all means, fix her body, but expect an arachnophobic drider with the inevitable self-loathing that goes alongside it.

Considering her (the drider's) mental state can likely be best described as a lightswitch rave party with 4 different DJs playing simultaneously in the same room?

Amy doing a bit of brain 'descrambling' probably wouldn't even see anyone raise a fuss. Although if she does it over the course of a few weeks, probably for the better.

Since Amy is not a diety of the same tier and power as Lolth, it's kind of doubtful that Amy could do anything to alleviate a drider's disfigurement and constant pain. You know, since that's part of the divine curse. Tia and her siblings might be capable of doing such, but maybe not. Io probably could, but currently isn't in a position to do anything about it. Assuming he would care to anyway.

What might end up happening is Amy being able to change stuff but it just turning her back afterwards. Amy can change her everything, I just think because of the curse it just won't be able to hold the changes for long before changing back.

I don't think Amy would take the risk of doing anything at all. If Lolth took umbrage to having aspects of her curse changed, even if temporarily?
Not a good idea to chance her not paying attention for a while.

I suppose it depends Loth competency levels can vary greatly even when she's not engaging in self-sabotage...

After all she once lost to a group of children and a baby unicorn trapped in her web, children who already had their magical weapons taken away by Venger no less.

I'm not sure if that version was the same Lolth at all. And calling the trinkets those kids possessed "weapons" is a bit much. Only two of them had actual weapons. Technically 3, but the staff was never used as a quarterstaff, just as a pole vaulting pole. The "Cavalier" didn't even have a sword, let alone a horse. What sort of cavalier doesn't have a sword or horse? The "barbarian" of the group only ever used his club to hit the ground. Which admittedly is probably a good thing. Hitting a living being with it might have traumatized the kid for life.

Don't forget the big battle between those pesky kids and Venger with Tiamat chilling in the background and watching the show...

Speaking of Lolth...

A gift for Dinah...and every other unsuspecting mortal on Earth Bet for the wee fee of $25.99 plus tax and shipping...
as for Tiamat...

That partnership with Parian is doing quite well...

*rubs forehead*

I cut off the drider's limbs, and hack away a good chunk of a mishapened area. Then drop off three entire/whole racks of beef & pork ribs.

"Yo, Amy. Got someone needing healing here. Might want to hurry, as they're down a quart or two already."

See the issue with how you're viewing things?

Because what you are inferring, means the drider can't even heal, ever. Or, in the opposite, would never have SCAR TISSUES as they'd always 'heal' perfectly back to their cursed forms without a trace of a wound left.

Scarred driders are a thing.

Or rather, they can't be healed in a way that negates the punishment inflicted upon them. Healing inflicted injuries so they return to the Lolth set base state? Fine. Healing the disfigurements Lolth inflicted to remove the constant pain and other punishments? Probably wont work.

Scarred driders are a thing.
They are, in fact, rather common as they are outcasts from Drow society, loathe each other, and loathe themselves.

Moreover, Lolth quite consciously and deliberately wrote her off, handing her over to Missy/Melissa. As the bint is now Vista's problem, Lolth wouldn't care if Missy had her cosmetically improved, trained to make silk for Parian, or out to work in a very very strange brothel.

I think y'all are ignoring something here.

A Drider might be magically cursed into their form, but there's no backup documentation that says the curse is permanent/ongoing. It's likely they're protected from being changed back by magic, but a healer can still heal them. This lends itself to the possibility that 'The Amy' can probably alter, to some extent, their biology, including their brains.

There's also the fact that since Driders existed when sword & board were common fighting tools, there's not much chance of surgery being used to alter a Drider's form. Technology/Science doesn't yet exist on a level where that's possible, so a permanent "prevent ALL changes from occurring, regardless of the source" spell is pretty unlikely.

Yes, Driders can be healed. However, they can't be changed back to their original form, or any other form other than that of a drider. There are no male or female driders; biologically, they're neuter, though they may appear male and female. Various entries say that the transformation can be undone with a <sarcasm>very common spell - Wish <sarcasm>.

4e's driders were actually a blessing from Lolth.

Faevras, right now, only has her innate abilities, plus those of a drider, to fall back on. Plus, she doesn't know English, has no magic besides her innate abilities, and has to deal with a problem that Dinah doesn't -- Faevras will need blood every four days, or she will die.

But yes, as has been speculated, Lolth has washed her hands of her, so has Eclavdra (who is the matron mother of house Eilservs). She was given some better clothes, and some money, and at some point, she'll show up on Dinah's doorstep. Panacea may have to get involved to keep Faevras from dying, or going out and killing someone and sucking their corpse dry so she can stay alive.

But that's for a future installment.

This discussion has reminded me of a thought that Jarlaxle had about Drizzt. That even though Drizzt has renounced Lolth and was never really a follower of her, he may actually be one of her most favored people simply because of the chaos he caused in Menzoberranzan.

Shards work solely on the physical; Shaper reads the biology of a subject, works out what needs to be done to make the changes that the host wants to make, and then supercharges parts of the organism to generate those changes (or supplies the energy to make those changes; See Family and Onions). So, Panacea could make physical changes that could heal and slightly alter the physical characteristics of a drider, she couldn;t restore the original form (because Lolth's curse is reinforcing the drider shape / biology), much like she can't restore a Case 53.
So, she MIGHT be able to even things out a bit. Make it so the slapdash drider transformation works out a bit more with mismatched parts flowing a bit more smoothly. Even possibly add or switch things around to make them more functional, such as removing spinnerets from the butt and putting them in the forelegs. If it is artistic and functional without going against the theme, Lolth might even notice and go "oh, interesting" and decide this was always part of her plan.

I considered it crap after reading the offensively condescending players handbook. Seriously, the section on humans ditched the discussion on society and views of other races, in favor of "You should know how to play a human, you are one." And that was the least offensive one.
