Of the various incarnations of Mr. Goodfellow, Is this one based off of the one from Gargoyles? Puck
If anything, this Puck or more like the one portrayed in Christopher Stasheff's Warlock in Spite of Himself novels.

Unlike the Gargoyles version, he's Oberon's right hand fae, he likes to travel, and has a sense of humor. He is also quite the problem when he gets riled.

Pssst. Look at the date.

I, too, wonder at the comment. Considering this was first posted 4 weeks ago over at the CTC (see the informational posting to answer What is the CTC?), it isn't an April Fool's post. If it had been a April Fools post, it would have been really, really strange. And cracky -- moreso than usual. My poor editors would be whimpering in a corner as well, and one might file a restraining order against me... :)

Also, it would have been posted as an Omake or Apocrypha.

So yes, this is an actual story post.

No idea why it's been brought up but, 4/3/21. 4321. This destroyer leader doesn't get why it's relevant, beyond possibly Hlal being vaguely amused by it.

Oh shit, the faeries are here. Time to evacuate . . . um, the whole universe?

Wouldn't help much. And I wouldn't collectively call them faeries. That would be one type, but collectively they are known as Faerie, Fae, or the Fair Folk. Sometimes the Wee Folk too, but Fair Folk is more common.

Also, even the good (or at least not actively hostile) fae are dangerous. Just ask Honest Tom, he can tell you all about it. And you can trust him, because he can never lie.

I think Alabster not waking up was from him realizing, his ever regenerating body would make for a great diet aid for young dragons.

Or in the old tongue was it Fae, Tree, Du, Juan.
And of course you youngins wouldn't remember when the year was two digits.
Okay to be honest I somehow mis-posted the date comment --was intended to be my own thread but I swapped tabs somewhere along the line.

Sidhe, as well. Seelie and Unseelie. I think Puck was Seelie/Summer, at least in Shakespeare. Or at any rate Titania is usually called the Summer queen these days.

The oldest lore doesn't actually give a name to the Faerie Queen. I've seen both Mab and Titania in reference to the queen of Faerie, and much of the lore I've come across only mentions a single queen of the seelie court, with her husband ruling the unseelie court. I've long thought it might be that the queen is referred to by different names depending on the season, at least by humans.

I often see Titania for Summer and Mab for Winter, but I'm not sure if they're really different entities. Or if it matters. Of course a lot of the time that's more modern stories.

Well there is a reason fairies of various types and folklore elves get referred to as the fair folk... They'll do bad things to you if you offend them and that's the nice ones as opposed to the actively malevolent ones looking for any excuse to curse and inflict suffering someone for their own amusement.
Of course some of the 4 most terrify words are not the Fae are angry but the Fae are helping.
Considering the date should read 4/3/2021, or 432021... I have no idea how that is in any way relevant.
It should read 3/4/2021, so I have even less idea how it's relevant.

The one fae you have to worry about is Danu, the being that something like 2/3rds of the Seelie and Unseelie are descended from.

Considering the typical format is month/day/year... Why would you be saying yesterday was March 4th, 2021 instead of April 3rd, 2021?

In the US, it's month/day/year, unless you're in the military, and then it's day/month/year... which is also the international date format. I've been using dd/mm/yyyy since the 80's, unless a form specifically calls for something else.

Faeries, yes. However, the fae, sidhe, etc. all go back to the dark ages up to the renaissance and beyond.
Myths and legends that might be about the fae predate ancient Greece, however...

It's an interesting subject, and far too involved for my silly tale.

Just a little correction: "Faerie" goes with "aerie" and is where the fae, or fairies, live - their natural plane, so to speak.
It's easy to get it mixed up, and it's an archaism for fairies, but that's the distinction for at least a couple of centuries.

All I will say on the subject of the return of the Fae is that I hope it can be prevented without otherwise endangering the world.

Having various myths and legends return can be good or bad, but having the Fae return would only bring unpleasant results for us Mortals.
