On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Nah, that's undwarfish. Orcs don't do anything with warpstone, so they'd leave it running around. And I don't think Orcs die from warpstone exposure.
But they do like explosions if 40k has taught me anything but I agree such work needs the steady hands of a a dwarf not some accursed greenskin mucking things up

But warpstone doesn't naturally explode.
I must be missing something, cos you can't possibly be saying we should give runework meant to purify warpstone to orcs...

I'm assuming it purifies the energy into a purer version and if that energy isn't discharged in some safe way it get's released in an uncontrolled manner (and possibly in a short span of time) if it overwhelms the Rune's capacitance making it go boom

another omake idea, snorri gets odd idea for fast travel

make a giant siege ballista that looks like a rubber band shooter with rune of valaya, flight, and accuracy

in the future people speak of the flying dwarves that go 'yeeeeetttt' across the mountains of the world as they travel from one hold to another.

So we need to use tiny chunks of warpstone and build protections made of adamant :).

Actually, we'd just have to have enough knowledge of the waystones to funnel the excess energy into the waystone network.

I'm a bit confused. I thought Gromril and warpstone were related, in the sense that under the right conditions warpstone decays into Gromril. In a sort of "Order out of Chaos" process.

Shouldn't we be looking for a way to catalyze that process?

Ye, a Master Rune of Currents, Rune of Parrying, Rune of Striking axe would be *chefkiss.jpg* in my mind.

Makes sense to me. Why bother with a parrying dagger when you can get a weapon with the same utility that can also cleave a dude in half from head to groin?

My next question, then, is how long of a lead-up is necessary to actually make a new weapon like that. When Snorri's making stuff for a client the crafting process is spread out over two turns, so does that mean he needs to get started at least two turns in advance of the boys heading out? I kinda figure the two-step process is at least partly because he needs to draft a detailed proposal for the item and work on it iteratively with the client before he can get to work, so maybe the crafting process can be compressed to take place over the course of a single turn when he's making things for himself. It may still be advisable to get started sooner rather than later if we want a new axe in time for party season tho.

we are still unsure, so far it looks like warpstone and gromil were one material, but then seperated into pure order and pure chaos, gromil and warpstone

How would they survive the landing?

Nah that's just how we've been doing things. You can overflow on the first part to complete the second part in a single turn.

So for an axe like that the write in action amount would be one action for part 1, and one more action for actually making it. We could do it in one turn with two actions put onto the "Better Axe" part 1, with a single action of overflow on part 2. Obviously as an upgrade on our current axe it can also stand to have a bit more put into it if we want.

another omake idea

Snorri notices something is wrong when he spends 10 years forging and runeing a single pick axe with simple runes (ie everyone voted to use all actions for one small simple item crafting for max overflow)

oh yeah @soulcake do we need to do an action to upgrade our workshop again for future gromil research? since ya know the last one almost melted our protections?

The "upgrade" is getting the Rune Metal research done.
It just seems like a logical thing to do when you notice that all your planned protections were on the verge of failing, seemed like the dwarfish thing to do to remake it all to a higher standard to make sure that does not happen again. Imagine if the protections failed and his apprentices were outside the room? Snoori is IC really protective of his family and apprentices and children in general. doubt he would continue research without making sure he would not harm them with his work.

I'm not sure how to make one at the moment so I've put that on a shelf in my head to dust off later.
We can always try for a hammer instead of an axe.

Master Rune of Breaking, Rune of Spellbreaking, Rune of Daemon Slaying

It might not be likely to perma-kill daemons, but I think it stands a good chance at an anti-daemon combo that would share a set bonus with our Daemonward.

Worth investing at least 1 Action in to see if there's a combo there in my opinion.

I'm interested in what the Master Rune of X might do as a weapon Rune. Depending on what it does it could be very good at driving out daemons.
