This seems more like a healthy limpet though. Not ohgoddontleaveme limpet.
Yeah, we seem to be making progress with the confidence boosting praise and such. She'd still snap like a twig if we left, but she seems less worried about it now. One step at a time, PMMM characters are never healthy; they all have something that would break them in seconds flat.

Yay! Finally got the windshield! Previous attempt got outvoted.

I don't remember anything on the acoustic properties of grief, though. Can anyone point out which update that might have been from?

Anyway, time estimate based on open carpet speed was 2 hours. Earlier guesses about how fast we could go on an open carpet were in the 30 mph range, give or take 10 mph. That puts our travel distance at about 60 miles.

With a windshield, we're now mainly only limited by our magic power, though we want to stay under the speed of sound (767 mph). If we can push up to 600 mph, that's a 6 minute ride. I suspect that's a bit much for our first airline experiment, though.

240 mph (prop airplane speed) would get us there in 15 minutes (or 10 minutes if the distance is only 40 miles), and seems like a reasonably achievable target speed. Not that we have a speedometer..

If we don't have to be there NOW now, that's a short enough time that we shouldn't need to pick up Homura.

Also thinking seat backs would be more appropriate than seat belts. Seat belts are for when we crash... >.> Though I suppose they're still useful.

Doing some tweaks on Cannongerbil's vote. Don't think we have a direct way to contact the University group, nor an easy way to locate the fighting, so calling Yuuki (also just to hear her reaction when we tell her we're already there). Also, doubt we have enough grief for building-sized barriers. Plus, we do have a reminder for Akiko..

[X] Sabrina Airlines is now in business!
-[X] Create seats (ie: extrude seats from the carpet floor) for everyone, and fuselage walls for aerodynamics.
--[x] Quietly add Hildegarde's grief to the mix.
-[X] Mami can make seat belts, or maybe just make the seats more cushiony. Whatever she wants.
-[X] Get up to a comfortably zippy speed.
[X] When we reach the Sendai area, check with Yuuki for landmark info to help us locate where things are happening.
[X] Once we have a target location, move in.
[X] Contact Akiko (hopefully before we get in noticeable grief range of the fight): Remind her that we did tell her that we intended to talk with the University group before things got too much more out of hand, and that we'd requested that she hold back on the fighting until we could do so.
[X] Hopefully trump the probable "You're not here now." response with the Presence of Being Here Now.
[X] Inform her that it's time for our chat with University, and that we intend to pick them up right now. Can she please pull her girls back? (saccharine-sweet request)
[X] Drop in on the University girls and load them up on SAF1.

Since Akiko has authority on the Sendai side, I don't expect us to need to go into full battle mode here (which would be very messy, with about 15 girls in the area). If she tells her side to pull back, they will.

If she does not, then we can potentially call in the favor (do we want to do that right now?).

Assuming that the Sendai and University groups are present, I think our line should be "Oh, good, everyone's here. Now we can start negotiations. *make table from grief. The table is large enough to physically separate the sides.*"

[you can't negotiate without a negotiating table, right? Like the saying goes, good tables make good neighbors.]

It's an improvement over total limpet. Closer to okay than we were.

We here at PMAS have very low standards of relative mental health.
...

DEDOLERE

The cacophony witch, with a healing nature. She can't stand the suffering caused by others and must cause futher harm to the ill in order to nurse them back to health.

@Random832 We can even make a awesome wooden table now. Mahogany or something.

It has occurred to me that this will in no way help convince Sakura that we aren't a Witch.
Not sure how to feel about that.

Take her aside and say "Don't worry. Even I'm not 100% sure I'm not a witch anymore. :p"

As I recall, this is the first time anything we've done has pinged on our own senses as "witchy", whereas it's long been doing so for other megucas. At some point people were taking it as evidence that our meguca sixth sense is somehow defective.

Oh man, that's so much better than "fuck you!"

We've always been able to sense straight Grief and magic just fine though. Barriers feel like an overwhelming mass of the stuff. I'm going to have to go back through our Witch fights at some point to review. This is the first time anybody's said it felt like Barrier stuff and not just witchy. Which means we're probably manipulating the physical properties the same way Witches do. So many possibilities there.

I think Sabrina almost passed out for a moment, entering the SB witch's barrier.

It's always made her feel bad. Fair, since Sabrina drives witches crazy by stealing their barriers' grief.

Frankenvote with an addition. I want to pull out some (or all) of Hildegarde's grief. This is long overdue.

-[x] Try and see if you can break the sound barrier. Bonus points for doing it with only grief manipulation.
[x] When we reach Sendai, get in contact with both the University group and the Sendai group, and ask them to cease fighting. Little subtlety this time, just let the grief flow.
[x] If we find any fighting in progress, intervene. Get them to step down using words first, then escalate to slamming down large (building sized) grief barriers between the combatants. Save the anti-magic for if we are on the verge of getting overwhelmed.
[x] If combat erupts, be intimidating and flashy, but don't seriously harm anyone if we don't have to. Try using grief bindings and immobilization.
-[x] Stay out of melee combat. Engage them primarily with grief, not with your warhammer. Use large masses of grief to overwhelm them if they get too close.

Guys. I think I've cracked it. What if we were a witch before we made the contract?

Our soul was already "... strange" according to Kyubey.

And then all this stuff we intuitively know how to do is actually witch stuff, and all this stuff that we keep putting off having Mami teach us how to do is the meguca stuff.

Yeah, whether or not we can save Hildegarde we shouldn't leave her shrouded in grief anymore. KInda mean.

Sarcasm doesn't translate well in text form without emoticons, sorry.

Also, hopefully at some point we can get rid of the grief somehow... we can't keep dumping a full barrier back into Hildy every time we get tired of having it around. We'll get the SPCW (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Witches) on our case.

We've been keeping grief around as solid marbles and feeding excess to Kyubey, generally.

In principle, we could just find somewhere to park the carpetplanething instead of dismissing it.

Try and see if you can break the sound barrier.
"Our top story tonight: Officials are baffled as to the cause of a sonic boom that occurred above the city of Mitakihara this afternoon.
At approximately 2pm an unidentified object broke the sound barrier in the skies above suburban Ishinomaki and maintained supersonic speeds as it passed over Mitakihara city en route to Sendai where, upon approaching the Central Business District, it exited supersonic flight and vanished without a trace. The JSDF has issued a statement denying involvement in the incident and has urged the public to remain calm whilst investigation proceeds. Luckily only minor injuries have resulted, but thus far the damages are estimated to exceed twe
-*CLICK*"

"And what do you have to say for yourselves?"
Of the three culprits only one had the decency to look chastised.
"Well, we weren't really sure that it'd work in the first place, but-"
"-IT WAS SO. COOL!" Kirika cheered from where she was wrapped around Oriko's waist, "You gotta try it, it's just so fast and loud and-"

Oriko's disapproving scowl turned to the architect of the afternoon's chaos.
"Kirika dared me to," Sabrina grinned unrepentantly.
"Did not!"
"Did too."

As Kirika lunged at Sabrina, Oriko slumped onto the couch and held her head in her hands, "And now there's two of them; each as bad as the other..."
"A mutual bad influence," Mami said, smiling with one part fondness and one part exasperation.
"They must never be left together unsupervised."
"Agreed."
But on the plus side, when your DYNAMIC ENTRY is supersonic everyone stops what they're doing to pay attention to you. :p

Kirika continues to be that one friend that you just click with - we're gonna cause so many Oriko headaches between the pair of us.

Transparent grief stuff - because the only thing scarier than a girl feeling sorta like a witch surrounded by dark clouds of malevolence is a girl feeling ABSOLUTELY like a witch with no visible reason why she should feel that way.
And it feels like a barrier? If we ever get it to act like a barrier then we absolutely have to invoke it with "Unlimited Grief Works".

Seriously though, we just keep getting more and more terrifying. Witch aura, unexplainable knowledge, unclear motivations, griefbending upgraded to 'I've-got-nigh-invisible-remote-controlled-shapeshifting -corrosive-matter-whenever-and-wherever-the-hell-I-feel-like'. The only thing I can think of that'd be more intimidating to those not in the know about the witchbomb would be hatching a witch from a seed, then casually assuming direct control for our very own personal witch-marionette (do that to a dinosaur named Sue and become legendary).

No, seriously... How much grief you guys think we would need to imitate the barrier of a particulary strong witch, in terms of magical lecture? Or does all witch barriers feels the same regardless of how much powerful the witch is?

Because if there's a proportion, that would be the ultimate (or at least, a very convincing) form of intimidation.
Easy. Just empty half a dozen grief seeds, and you're safely in "strong Witch" territory. And if all barriers feel the same/have the same amount of grief, then it just comes across as even more intimidating.
