I imagine if kyouko and Yuma join us for shopping it would be a way to introduce Yuma and nagisa. Possibly good idea? Alternatively if red and little green don't go it kills two birds with one stone; we're hanging out with Mami & best friend AND we haven't seen nagisa in a full week. A full week! We should change that forthwith!

For some reason I suspect if we do 3v3 training it'll be kyouko, sayaka and Yuma vs Sabrina, Mami and homura.

Whew. This update took forever to get out. Also, minor reminder: The dinner with the Shizukis is scheduled for tomorrow (that's Saturday, 16th April)!

Tomorrow, as in the current turn we are in? Got a bit confused there because the vote was for the next morning, so I wasn't sure if "tomorrow" was from the vote, or from the end of the night.

• We were planning a group training session with Sayaka and Homura in the morning. May need to adjust that to account for Kyouko, one way or another.

I think if we skimp anything it's around here. Maybe do a light training because of the rain? The thing is we definitely need to spend time on making anti-mind control enchantments.

• We need to start working on the enchantments for the Tokyo visit, since that's happening tomorrow.

This is a very high prioirty thing we need to make sure to do and not just try to stick it in "whenever" since we do not want to go to this meeting without protection.

• Evening, Shizuki meeting.

Perhaps we should talk about what exactly are our goals for this meeting?

If we're shopping for clothes to wear for the formal dinner, we could get some proper-fitting clothes for Yuma too while we're out.

Doesn't Yuma have some change of clothes? I thought Kyouko had bought her some? Also, perhaps Kyouko will insist on paying for clothing, so maybe where we go shopping should take that into account? Maybe there is a good low cost clothing store around?

I don't think Kyouko would leave again over a minor slight but the idea of getting Radio Mitakihara calls every morning might just be enough so let's not risk it. :V

Yeah, but the trick is to do Radio Mitakihara over breakfast. There's no way Kyouko would skip a meal, so she'll be awake anyway at that point. :V

That's a completely valid point.

In fact, every time she doesn't like something about living arrangements, let's bribe Kyouko with food.

Guess we have to somehow transport the dining table into the guest bedroom...

Wait. Kyoko and Yuma aren't lichbombed, are they? They aren't on the Lich/Witchbomb Status page of the Day Planner. Is this going to be a problem, given everyone else in our group is?

[x] Wake up bright and cheery.
-[x] Poke Kyouko so she's awake while you make breakfast.
-[x] Radio Mitakihara, then introduce Kyouko and Yuma.
--[x] Discuss plans for today - group training, then mall, then homework and enchantment making?
---[x] Invite Kyouko and Yuma to training and shopping.
---[x] Invite Nagisa to join in the shopping trip
--[x] Confirm the meeting in the evening with Hitomi's parents.

[x] Group Training: 2 vs. 2's again, but up the intensity/magic usage.
-[x] Your own personal reaction times aren't up to scratch, focus on improving those.
-[x] If Kyouko and/or Yuma want to participate, maybe 3 vs. 3's? Either way, make room for them.

Yep, they're not lichbombed. No idea how to raise the topic either.

E:

Also, pro-tip: Absolutely do not witchbomb Kyouko.

She takes it really, really badly in just about every interpretation of her history where she learns it, and no surprise either, given...

Do not Witchbomb Kyouko she will absolutely fucking kill herself REALLY CONSISTENTLY.

Granted Yuma is here, but like. This isn't a dice roll we want to throw right now.

Okay, with all due respects, can we please cut the witchbomb histrionics here? It does not help the discussion.

I'll note that we've told literally everyone other core friend that there's something, even Mami, and we've promised to figure out a safe way to break it to her.

I see no reason why the standard of saying outright "there's dark stuff going on and you have a right to know if you want to but you may not want to" (Or "learning could kill you") should not apply here. Especially with all the talk not so long ago about themes of openness and honesty not too long ago and the trouble that not doing so brings.

Eh... Canon Kyouko took it and dived to self-destruction but I think a lot of that was her weird friend-foe Sayaka being turned into a Witch. Plus, she didn't have Yuma or Mami on her side.
And even then she took down a witch, she didn't just kill herself.

I don't know that we should rush to tell her but I think this version of Kyouko could probably take it eventually. She certainly handled it better than Mami.

She certainly handled it better than Mami.
That's subjective. Mami looked at the possibility of her and all her friends being subjected to eternal torment, came to the not really wrong conclusion that making sure that never happened to her friends was the best thing she could do for them, and that the only way to guarantee that was to kill them. It's basically the same conclusion Madoka came to, just on a smaller scale.

She proceeded to quickly and efficiently neutralize the magical girls she identified as likely to put up the most fight. As we've just witnessed with her ribboning Kyoko and earlier with her binding us during the lichbomb conversation, Mami is ridiculously hypercompetent even when in severe emotional distress.

The only real flaw was that she underestimated Madoka, and basically everyone underestimates Madoka. If it weren't for the chairs, I'd suspect being underestimated was her thing.

Kyouko generally handles the Witchbomb by going "Oh, Dad was right about literally absolutely everything", and she devolves until she kills herself for a cause. In the canon and PSP routes Sayaka becomes her anchor, and when that doesn't pan out, well. Ya know.

If we ever witchbomb Kyouko she might handle it the way Sayaka did, but she's liable to take very stupid unnecessary self-sacrificial risks. She will be prone to seeking a noble, heroic end that spares her from Witchdom/damnation and atones for her sins.

Mami, Sayaka, and Yuma are her anchors to avoiding this, but given Kyouko, she'll think "Sabrina can take care of everybody." We need to be careful.

On the other hand, my impression is that Kyouko generally handles the lichbomb fairly well. Might have something to do with Christianity having a different view of souls than traditional Japanese culture/religion—as I understand it, from a Christian perspective, the body is essentially just a container for the soul anyway, which isn't all that different from a soul gem. Contrast with how Sayaka expresses the view in canon that if her soul isn't in her body, then she's essentially a walking corpse.

So I think it's pretty safe to gently break the news to Kyouko that soul gems are actually souls. And I doubt Yuma would handle it worse than Kyouko.

Yeah Yuma straight up doesn't give a single shit about the bombs. If she can be trusted not to tell Mami or Kyouko she'd be great to have on board.

Something I've been thinking of for a while.

Would it be possible for us to SCIENCE up our own telepathy network?

"Tired of the Kyuubey Telepathy Program dropping your calls at the worst possible times? Just switch to Sabrinapathy! Our Free Lifetime Unlimited Data Plan will ensure that no matter what happens, your calls will always connect."

Hrm.

Y'know, I just don't have anything to add here. We're keeping the day full of interaction with most of the cast and that's exactly what I want, so... Yeah.

[] Follow Mami's lead regarding Morning Kyouko.

Her handling of Kyouko in the last update was pure artistry. I say leave the Koko wrangling to the professional.
