Mobile opression platform is a fun name, I say we keep it, its not like its a serious name, just a fun joke
...you have no experience whatsoever with politics or public relations. A "joke" will very quickly be taken out of context by the first person who hears it without knowing the context (or not believing it, or not caring). And then it's not funny at all anymore, because everyone thinks you're some kind of wannabe or insidious tyrant who rides around, enforcing her will from her self-named "Mobile Oppression Fortress".

Like, "hey so the housing question is totally not solved and lets ignore that Hitomi is solving it atm" level of insulting, except *worse*, because it even goes to "hey can I ask you to solve housing and not say anything about the obvious way you could solve housing, and I'm totally kind of implying that that's not an okay way to solve housing, and why the fuck wouldn't it be Sabrina".
I'm opposed to spending our lunch on any kind of financial or corporate discussion when we're talking to people whose job those things are tomorrow evening. That said, could you elaborate on what Hitomi is doing to solve housing? My impression was that she grabbed an apartment when we asked for one, not that she has an ongoing housing program.

I'll leave the fluff and happy friendship stuff to others who are better at it, but during this lunch we should contact Chiyoda and actually confirm a meeting date.

Or, more specifically, we should have Mami contact them and confirm the date, since she's our official group leader.

... Maybe have Sayaka hit us with antimagic afterwards to be safe, in case the memory power works through telepathy.

Once we have a firm date, we can call the Mercenaries and the Pleiades and let them know what's up.

Other than that, not much. We can let everyone know what happened in Fukushima except for the redacted parts, and we should contact Tsubaki Mikoto sometime and ask if a Sunday visit works for her, I suppose.

First off how dare, it is Mobile Oppression Platform not Fortress.

Second we're not going around with "Mobile Oppression Platform" emblazoned on it's side like we're LARPing as Bobba Fett's estranged daughter, it's just something we refer to it as in our head.

[] Lunch:
-[] So, you're stealing from the Yakuza for your current funding, but in the interest of everyone here recognizing it, magical girls being able to expend magic without having to hunt witches for it is going to break every current industrial paradigm.
--[] You literally just visited a girl who could singlehandedly eliminate cargo ships as an institution by driving trucks into a warehouse in Japan and out of one in America.

The problem with that: singlehandedly. She can handle maybe a few trucks' worth of cargo, a handful of tonnes, per minute. A container ship can carry 3700 containers and would take, let's say, fifteen days to go from Japan to the US. If she works 40 hours a week, she replaces something like two or three container ships.

Where she would shine is small amounts of highly time-sensitive cargo to and from fixed points.

I feel like a lot of magic girls' skills would either be extremely niche or unmarketable.

Wrong person. Yuki claims buildings and links them through Weirdspace. She could claim a warehouse across the Pacific and run a superhighway through it.

We don't actually know that - she could theoretically have a max range.

That said, while I'm more iffy about cross-continental transport, having stuff suddenly pop up on an entirely different island of Japan seems almost certainly possible.

Mm, that's kind of questionable?

Okay, so, the current population density of magical girls seems to be around 1 per 100 000 people, so around 70 000 magical girls globally in total.

By way of comparison, there are around 100 000 specialist surgeons globally - so magical girls would be rare specialists.

At bare minimum, magical girls are supernaturally skilled combatants who can literally be paid to eliminate sources of depression in cities, and who given time can heal any mundane wound.

That's an extremely attractive skillset already, to the point that almost all local governments would happily pay to keep some gucas on retainer, and it isn't even getting into specialized magic.

The only reason healing magical girls won't make entirely ludicrous amounts of money (they can reverse aging) is because they're relatively common. I still expect them to make "experienced brain surgeon" amounts of money, easy.

And girls like Inoue Yuki, who have a very rare power with incredible global applications? She can literally write any number she wants on a piece of paper - she's a bigger strategic asset for most countries than a nuclear submarine.

These are some of the reasons for why some countries would want to eliminate the more dangerous Gucas, maybe hiring some of them for that job like some shitty shounen cliche trope by figuring out how to kill them and then shooting their soul gems full of holes
I'm trying to come up with a government that wouldn't do that, if the alternative is being potentially invaded from within its own borders, and I'm drawing a blank
Mmm
Maybe Canada?
Nobody wants to invade them, probably

Mundane humans trying to murder magical girls would go incredibly poorly for them.

Gucas are bullet timers, and hitting a target as small as a soul gem when it's on a target moving as fast as a magical girl is basically impossible.

That leaves assassinations and effects with large amounts of collateral damage.

Trying to assassinate gucas is going to be hellish as soon as they realize what's going on, go to ground blending in perfectly as normal teenage girls, use their untraceable communication methods to coordinate, and use their strange reality-bending abilities to utterly destroy whoever attacked them.

And more large scale attacks that cause collateral damage will only worsen the PR nightmare that is a government deciding to kill its own citizens when the public sees them as pretty teenage girls who literally fight depression demons.

Plus, in this hypothetical scenario, Sabrina would be around. I imagine she'd be extremely unamused with whichever government tried to assassinate Yuuki, for example, and that's not a situation any country wants to be in, since Sabrina is basically a one-person WMD superpower.

A soul gem is a ridiculously small target
A target that is in a different location on each guca

A skilled marksman tends to have battle field acruacies around 20% and that is with a human sized target, not a target the size of a finger

Combined with the fact that magical girls are litterally reality benders fueled by teenage angst (not to mention I don't think the incubator collective would take well to attempts to uproot its investments) And I think that any human effort to get rid of gucas by non empowered groups would end in failure at best and horrfic destruction at best

And the faceless hordes of extras is right, sabrina would make thinga hell for anyone who tried, she's literally a demigod among guca

I mean
Yeah
But also nah
I was thinking in terms of random attacks on the streets in Gucas' civilian identities disguised as armed robberies/acts of terrorism than some kinda sniper shootouts from bordering skyscrapers

And I don't say that the attempts will be necessarily successful
I say they will be made
Which is bad for everyone involved, including, yes, PR scandals and wrathful Griefbending, timestopping, teadrinking demigods paying you a visit afterwards

So much to do at lunch... I miss the days when getting Mami and Homura to be frienfd was the biggest issue.

*sigh* .... of course I never got to vote for that stuff....

Also does anyone have a list of the groups- I'm bad with names when I don't use them regularly so I'm losing track og whonis who.

Makes it hard to contribute to the political planning.

On the subject of setting off UFO enthusiasts, how visible and alien do we want to make Yuki's moon base?
Set on the Lunar terminator, so as to be purposely hard to see from Earth. The large, perfectly geometric roof will have English signage pointed up at any orbiting instruments. A polite message that "This property is owned by Earth residents. Move along, ask nothing."

--it occurs to me that we really ought to make sure that Mami knows the issue isn't Sabrina being nervous about coming out of the closet. :V
Given the depth of enmeshment and exchange of understanding, I could hardly expect her to follow what we would be talking about? Our relationship is such that I imagine she doesn't care to classify what is happening in any such terms. Sabrina is Sabrina, Sabrina is with Mami, and that is making everything right in the world. We are pretty much 'air' to her ATM? One doesn't ordinarily apply social construct analysis to the foundations of one's world. And she knows we are not full of nervous tension regarding her.

It's even technically correct.
bingo?
Maybe table-chan is gender-fluid, and you are hurting it with your thoughtless remarks. :V
Glass is a fluid. :: rimshot::

We got Mami and Homu to be friends. Tokyo politics (etc) are nothing.
Pretty much. Our trouble so far is in "not engaging." I see that we have got some confidence in our preparations now, so we need to preform actions. Meet Chiyoda, AND go off-menu to meet the groups of girls with complaints. We have at least three political trumps to win with, once we deduce the consequences of our intended actions.

In the best outcome, we can keep almost all of them in place, but safer and happier than before. They almost had it right, but no Sabrina was available. A few may want to move away from Tokyo after the lie is revealed due to personal feelings, but the new capital is going to welcome them. If there are villains, we will give them a different place too. Overall, survival and peace is maximized by limiting the disruption. As long as we can get them to move somewhat, cease harming others, and continue to evolve, the larger unit of Tokyo has value. It was not easy to assemble, and we might be able to realize huge gains with them later.
