I kinda want a truancy officer interlude now. He seems like a good guy.
I do kind of want to know who he thinks we are and what he thinks is going on.

For myself, I can't say I don't have little scenes in my head of us pointing him towards the alley or rooftops where we're going and them letting him watch as we (and usually Mami with us) spread our wings and fly away.

On the subject of Enchantments, some stuff popped into my head the other night regarding the grief cleansing enchantment project. We've got strong hints that we're going about it the wrong way and Sabrina at least thinks there may be an aspect of will needed for the control to work.

I found myself wondering... a lot of things, some of them already said, but the most low level option was wondering whether magic could enchant both an object and grief at the same time. We know our magic can sustain grief when it's enchanted and we know that Gaseous grief can also commingle with objects. Which introduces the question: Could we have an object sustain the grief that permeates it?

--------------------

EDIT: Also, can we all just take a moment, to appreciate this moment?

"You're biased," Sayaka says, propping one fist on her hip. "And everyone knows it."

Hitomi and Madoka nod in agreement. You catch a flicker of motion out of the corner of your eye and whirl just in time to catch Homura nodding.

She catches your eye and shrugs. "Biased."

Sayaka cackles as you shoot Homura a betrayed look.

Homura, actively agreeing with Sayaka.

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention it in the update, but the enchanted crankshaft ran out of juice by the time you hit Mitakihara (you didn't put in much in the first place). I'll probably do a quick editing pass for that tomorrow or so.

Well clearly we need to make a rechargeable magical battery enchantment, a magic distributor enchantment that takes the mana from the battery and puts it in other enchantments and some kind of master control enchantment. Then we can make clockpunk mechs and robots.

Rise of Legends here we come.

"Feels like I haven't seen you in over a week," you tell her, smiling back. "Hi!"
Well, obviously we haven't.

And then we develop a Passive Mana Collector, as well as advance our master control enchantments to be basically brains.

In other words: sapient Automata requiring little to no maintenance, perfect for populating our utopian city or using as cannon fodder as we conquer the Earth, because if Iskandar can do it, so can we!

The neat thing would be if we could make a Grief-powered enchantment of absorbing Grief. >_>

The problem would be making it absorb Grief without having a soul... Put a red wig on it? :thonk:

Cheeky. It would've been just a week if this was posted yesterday? :p

Uh... Wow, Mami's got some ridiculous interest rates. :o

We owe her one?

[Q] Make a chart showing every time you've kissed each other.
-[Q] Argue that you owe Mami two kisses, not one. Your OCD demands a well rounded 4 to 1 ratio.

Truancy officer is now a familiar. Oh no.
We do owe her one, infact we owe her a million!

"But first!" you continue brightly. "I have a present for you, Homura."

The first thing you'd made with your magic is a tiny, palm-sized sculpture of Madoka, as precise as you can make it and carefully concealed from Homura as you formed it out of enchanted steel. Just in casual clothes, neither school uniform nor magical girl costume, posed as if she's looking happily at someone in front of her.

"For you, Homura," you say, beaming and passing the little sculpture to her. "As thanks for bringing me on this trip."

Homura stares at it for a long, long moment before swallowing and tucking it away in her shield, expression carefully blank.

"Thank you, Sabrina," she murmurs, and reaches out hesitantly to clasp your shoulder, the barest touch before she yanks her hand away. "I- thank you."

The smile you direct at her must be blinding.
Homura got Madoka figurine now.

Ye gods. :V

Eh, I'm sure we could push it faster than that. Don't have to worry about space-debris impact; solid grief can probably only be damaged by magic.

Granted, I'm not well versed in orbital mechanics, so I might be missing something.
We can push it higher, but 1G I have a quick and easy figure for already.

Also, correction since I misread the source. 4 days for a round trip.

This. We should try this. This and feeding the seeds happy magic again.

I wonder if we could enchant a sculpture with movement, sound and a LONG LONG LONG LONG series of rules.

Make a little personal aide/AI for Homura.

... with a small sword to stab Kyuubey with.
