Do so with SCIENCE. If we're going to be flitting back and forth between clothes shops looking for the perfect item, we'll have more than enough free attention to try to do CDMA by handgrief.

Alternatively, maybe something like

I think that having enough grief to throw up a privacy bubble would be very useful, because I bet you anything that Riona will want to talk about at least one thing that's on the classified list. That or we'll need to fight her and we'll really want to be able to pull out something special.

My thoughts for contacting those potentials are:

1: Learn to make a form of grief that only magical girls and potentials can see.
Selectively-visible grief allows us to have construct out that we can have show potentials and magical girls while Muggles remain unaware. Used for step 3. This is a lot of the reason I've wanted to look into liquid grief, as I suspect it may have these properties inherently.

2: (optional) If we won't be able to give them a full rundown immediately, write a letter for each of the potentials, explaining a few things about magic, and giving them our contact information with instructions to talk to us before doing anything. If necessary, (such as if we ourselves cannot enter a building) we can put these letters in hammerspace and deliver them directly into their hands.
Allows us to deliver a letter to them in or just outside school, so they will be able to contact us at their leisure. Also potentially useful as a reference document even if we do give them a full meeting.

3: Make a chibi or something else very obviously magical out of semi-visible grief and visit the girls at Shirome.
A (heh) object demonstration will help to ensure that, when we talk about magic, or otherwise meet them, they immediately have reason to believe that something supernatural is real, and we don't end up with a similar situation to when we tried to contact Sasa. Where we tried to talk and got nowhere.

4: Greet the girls and make their acquaintance. (and/or deliver the letters)

4a: Direct the potentials to each other so they can talk and reinforce the idea that, yes, this actually happened.
4b: (optional) end the introduction by including some bauble --- Origami soul gem, steel ornament, etc. Something real that we can cheaply and easily fabricate.
Both add extra weight and help sell that the meeting was a real thing that actually happened when they think about it later.

If we're going to do SCIENCE, then there's one thing I want to do first and foremost:

[] Attempt to perform psychometry on The Feather with a device made from enchanted grief. Do not reveal anything, simply perform directly in hammerspace, with control experiments on our gold and Homura's notebook of witches to ensure it works properly.

EDIT: And we should be able to recycle the grief for later, using how it interacts with the edge of our range.

I don't think anything major will go down, but I've included precautions just in case.

Plus it strikes me as fitting that we figure out what feather's deal is one week after our first encounter, almost to the hour. (And really, I like the idea that if you include Oriko's initial warning during the Wednesday night timestop, it can be said that Wednesday is Feathers day.)

Eh, I'm willing to at least pay lip service to the secrecy of magic rather than causing needless memory wipes, at least up until it becomes a personal matter for someone.


EDIT: Dropped a fair bit: so it can be moved a few updates later when the opportunity is a little better.

How would Riona know how to call ahead she's coming? She hasn't met Mami so she can telepathy her and may be difficult to check japanese/different langiage websites to check the Tomoe's home phone number (does Mami even have a landline?).

Yes, a possible answer is 'ask Nadia if she could contact Mami for her' but my point is that it isn't obvious and it may have not ocurred to her.

This is like, far more thought than I had given to this.

I would prefer to do the meetings in person, as if we give them letters and wait, I feel KB will preempt us. Which means we would need to explain KB's evil deal in the letters. Which might not be very convincing.

If we wanted to show magic in a way that's invisible to non Potentials... that's probably easily doable with Witchy Grief: We can will Grief to be invisible, we probably can tack on some conditionals in there.

Having the Potentials in contact with each other could help; I assumed we'd grab them as groups, for example, of all Potentials that go to X school... maybe we should go beyond and have all Potentials and nice-in-the-know meguca in contact with each other?

Also, without the letters thing... I still guess we'll have these meetings alongside Mami. Which is good for our Social rolls! ... I'm just unsure about it.

It's kind of a reversal. KB used Mami to convince Potentials to Contract. It could as well spin this as us using Mami for the opposite.

Considering how Kyubey refused to contact us to that meguca who was good with invisibility in spite of recommending us to meet her I believe he'd refuse Riona to contact Mami or Sabrina if she asked.
 
Have we tried griefhaxing with emotion-enchanted grief yet? I could easily see different emotions having effects, ranging from making new effects possible to improving or tweaking the details of things we can already do. Like, thinking about ito friends might make a communications device easier to manner with griefhax.

IIRC Sendai used Kyubey as an intermediary to arrange passage through Mami's territory when they came to Mitakihara. So it's something Kyubey does do. He just refused to do it for us because he wants to make our lives difficult.

We've done a bit. First indication is that it makes the amount of focus required much, much faster and easier.

Including the application of the enchantment itself, the impression I get is that enchanted griefhax will take about half again as long, but require no trance time during any part of the process.

There has been some speculation about whether it can do things that were just out of reach before, such as gem analysis.

EDIT: oh Emotion-enchanted grief. Whoops.

On Enchanted emotion'd Grief, maybe we could try making a Chibi with Happy Magic, then let it loose amongst friends and see what happens. :p

Pretty good with the vote as it stands, but since we're planning to check the internet anyway, I still say that a quick check to see what we'll be working with for our Nebulous Future Therapist Plans would be good to have. (I'd certainly like to be able to mull over and read into the implications of even the results of a quick search, even if it's not relevant for a few months IRL.) We don't hafta discuss it now, and by no means am I saying we actually write up the vote, since yeah, I too project that our in-universe weekend meeting is awhile out realtime-wise. But things tend to come up in-universe, and I don't really want to get to "night before the conversation" and realize we haven't done a Google in-character and mulled over anything we can find out that way. We'll have more credibility in that conversation if we can honestly say that we've looked into the matter more than just the night before. (I vote for not doing in-character what I end up doing in real-life! Do as I say, Sabrina, not as the voices in your head do! But seriously, there are a lot of vaguely professional conversations that would in retrospect have been better off with even a short Google recap a few days ahead of time, rather than right before. It settles in more, I always feel like, and even thought we're controlling Sabrina's direction in the overall flow of talks, we leave a lot to 'Brinapilot, and 'Brinapilot will probably be more prepared if this was even a tiny bit on our radar ahead of time.)

Alternatively, since it's not nearly as sensitive as the meguca IRCs, we could give Kirika a research project when we see her next. I'd be down with that too, and it would free up some of our action slots, such as they are? And we'd (probably) get a better dossier than just us doing a Google, which feels like all we'd have time or the voter base inclination to get to, at most.

Completely unrelatedly to the various topics at hand, I was reading someone's liveblog of watching Rebellion and was given the lovely knowledge that "Who is dreaming?" was spelled out in Witch Runes in Homura's Labyrinth. I did not know that, before. I had recently been thinking about PMAS invisitext, and so remembered it immediately. I am now 357% more concerned about Sabrina, Homura, Madoka, Mitakihara, Feathers, and whether or not reality is in a dream, or a dream has woken into reality.

Rebellion, the existential crisis that keeps on giving.
 
I guess IRC and googling can be done at the same time... the question is how many tabs will Brina end up with, paying half attention to the search? :V

It probably makes more sense to go shopping with the person the clothes are for, unless you want it to be a surprise.

Normally making sure that it fits would be an issue, but Sabrina can probably create a perfect Mami facsimile out of Grief... but that's also kind of creepy.

(This is your regular reminder that our cash reserves are running low, so buying haute couture clothing and paying Kyouko's exorbitant fees might be difficult.)
