Tentative vote, for now. We really need to multitask some telepathy. :S

"I'm not giving up!" Hijiri snarls back at you. "I'm taking what I want!"
GOD DAMMIT.

Everything we just did was worse than useless. Utterly off-base. Pointed in the wrong direction. We have no idea what Hijiri is doing and we just encouraged her to try harder, because we totally and completely misinterpreted what she was saying in the micro-update. And then Brinapilot just waltzed ahead with exactly what we'd written even though it no longer followed. Clumsy recovery and everything. We should have broken back to voting here, and failing to do so meant we failed Hijiri totally. We have nothing left. She's gone, communications are closed, we have no idea what she's doing. Good job, everyone, we're done.

And Brinapilot? I'm blaming you for this. See if I ever trust you again. Your ability to follow orders just when they hurt the most and not follow orders just when you can fuck up hardest is astounding, appalling, and casting doubt on the integrity and feasibility of the quest.

IIRC, we can make a 'selective gravity' effect with Witch Grief. Think we can vacuum away all the gas?

EDIT: We didn't actually try to make Witch Grief selectively attract anything. Only tried 'magnetism 'and 'gravity'. I think there was some conversation about making Grief attract anything we wanted in particular, but I can't find it right now.

Mami confirmed as Solar Exalt.

I would read the crap out of that.

Hmm. If I were to run PMMM in exalted, I'd probably have it so that Magical Girls get large mote pools that don't refill naturally at all. Grief Seeds would have a number of motes that could be drawn from before the witch respawns. Emotional turmoil would also drain motes, although I'm not sure how to model that.

The magical girls would probably have a few charms each, related to their specific powers.

Mami would have the solar archery tree. Or possibly the firearm tree from Exalted Modern if we're using 2e.

Okay, maybe instead of spreading salt in the thread, you could take a few hours (maybe even a day) with your mind off the quest and cool off? And if you have complaints on how the votes are being interpreted, then maybe actually open a conversation with Firn in the thread, and ask what's not being communicated properly?

Any likelihood the gas (or something else) is rather flammable and everything is about to explode?

[Q] Yell at Mirai for kill stealing, and claim her portion of the loot drops as repayment.
[Q] Hijiri
-[Q] Tell her that when she's calmed down she's welcome to visit Mitakihara for cleansing, hugs, tea and cake. Unless she's been acting like an edgy cartoon villain, in which case she does not get cake.

Anyway, I don't know whether we should press Hijiri right now, or wait. We did tell her to grill KB; that would require some time passes before we telepathy her again.

When we do call her back, now or later, what should we say?

[ ] Hijiri:
-[ ] Now that she's not being held, maybe she can actually talk honestly for once? What does she want?
--[ ] If she wanted to live her own, peaceful life, she would've wished for it.
--[ ] So what, revenge? Does she want to make Niko cry again? Break more of her things?
--[ ] She's already tried to 'take what she wanted'. She knows how it goes. If she really wants a chance at making things work for herself, just come back. Talk things through.

[Q] Yell at Mirai for kill stealing, and claim her portion of the loot drops as repayment.
Well, if they get the Clear Seed, we get what? The Gem? :V

Well, Firn gave two chances to do this right and not fuck up, so can't really complain too much, galling as it is. He's not exactly obligated to rescue players from mishaps.

You guys could try directly asking Hijiri what she wants and plans to do. Perhaps later, perhaps now. Maybe tell her that Sabrina would have let her go at the end of all this or even help her skip town. Her answer could be enlightening. If she answers.

Niko is going to be really upset when she finds out about Hijiri easily escaping. They all are. She trusted Sabrina and Mami to watch over her and... that didn't turn out so well. This is going to be incredibly unpleasant.

Vebyast, you're the one who suggested we tell her that we can put her goal in reach if she would only take it for herself. It was in your vote; what exactly are you mad about, again?

Ah, perhaps share everything about our conversations with Hijiri, with everyone? Rather than deciding to keep talking at her on our own.

Also, should we ask Mami to reform the ribbon grid while we're seeing the civilians' safety?

Ventilating the building more should be first priority. Mirai deserves praise for her actions as much as Mami.

Anri is most assuredly secured, very likely unconscious, and might need medical attention herself.

Checking for survivors and checking the former hostages condition take next priority. Followed immediately by making sure Anri will recover.

Then we can ask Mami if she would help us blanket a large zone centered around our position with Grief Fog, to see if we can relocate Hijiri.

Hijiri is a "good" test for Sabrina's resolve. NOT certain it is an optimal, elegant test, but we need to get on task.

'Fess up about the Great Escape, right now.

We have not yet deflected her thinking sufficiently. But we can engage her. We have not shared honesty yet, but we have some grudging respect from her, for our ability if nothing else. Is she in a hotheaded rush ATM?

Pursue the sempai path farther?
We know she is executing goal-directed behavior. But we don't know if her goals suck, or her worldview, just that we don't like the behavior. She has a limited set of objectives she could have teleported to. Anri may, or may not have left something for her to pick up, but I think Anri is now out of her expectation, and is abandoned. What is not in Hijiri's plan is how fast we did that. Don't drag our feet. Break her tempo.

Thank you, @Onmur,! Best thinking is combo move, Kirika and Oriko keeping Anri suppressed, and letting Mirai have her uh, moment, will delegate well, and let Sabrina bolt away. Once we scry Anri, to see if she's KO for now. We need a portable antimagic restraint for Sabrina to use, ASAP, as well, in case our options get wasted further. Telepathy, get insight from Niko! What is she doing, anyway? Delegate someone to Niko, either to sideline her or break up the scene if Hijiri sought her out. We need to understand Hijiri's move right now, She's being obstructive, so is Niko, but I think we can keep up the conversation. No conversation is possible while N&H are interacting, neither has got the poise for that today. DON'T talk about defeating Anri with her. No putting Hijiri "in control" of us, if she has control issues, that is a "put it above the table" topic. We need to verify. Do say " I don't know what you really mean by that - but you sound like you are in trouble right now, and not leaving you in that condition." Would it be possibly a strong move to say "you can show me this wish, I'll be there for you, at least to witness this. Can you let us respect each other?" Fix my thinking here, feel free, but I think we need to get more traction with her now.

So... I think we need to let everyone know Hijiri's lashing out, so they can be on guard. Check that everyone's OK, then collectively decide what to do, rather than making the decision for everyone?

[X] Multitask urgent conversations.
[X] Grief cleansing.

[X] Vote lines not necessarily in chronological order:

[X] Mirai: Warn her of the gas.

-[X] Keep bracelet.

[X] All alies: Status report, check everyone's OK.
-[X] Inform everyone about Hijiri: Escaped, still lashing out.
--[X] Apologize and explain your dilemma: stopping her would've required excessive force.
--[X] Explain everything about your conversations with Hijiri, suspicions included.
--[X] Collectively decide whether to pursue right now or not.

[X] Assure the safety and health of all the civillians.
-[X] Apply magic healing if necessary.
-[X] Clear the building of the harmful gas.

[X] O&K:
-[X] Ask them to guard Anri.

Fess up to what? That she escaped with a power that we hadn't anticipated her using and we could only have stopped if we used lethal force, or at the most charitable kept her soul from escaping as her body rotted in an unknown location?

Seriously stop fighting battles over past votes, especially when you are placing the blame for failure on the majority not voting the way you wanted.

[X] Onmur

Forgot to comment earlier, I was surprised that our utility fog wasn't already filtering out weird not-oxygen (I guess we don't usually bother?) , but also that we went for "Liches don't care" rather than "become a walking HEPA filter" even once we noticed the gas issue. I mean, we can move around photons at nano-scale, can we not snatch away anything that doesn't match the oxygen-nitrogen mix we desire? (Pure o2 is noooot what we want, except maybe for dates with Mami. and even thats just 20% more o2 or so)

Seems like the lichbomb also immunizes you (if it worked in this case) from a whooole loooooot of meguca combat powers , anything like a tazer or poison gas or inner-ear sound-attack or whatnot. All the more reason to Wish Gud i guess?

I remember that mechanically Fair Folk don't naturally regenerate motes in Creation, and have to consume (usually) permanent dots of Willpower and Virtues in order to regain essence. At least until they learn Banquet of Crumbs.

So Fair Folk is probably a decent fascimile for Witches.

As for Magical Girls? I think you need to involve the Limit track on them, actually. Think about it as less that they do not regenerate motes, it's that all of them have a natural "increase temporary Limit by 1 to regain 10 motes" ability. Grief Seeds, in this mechanic, would be consumable items that lower Limit of magical girls, and emotional turmoil will naturally increase Limit as well, as a form of the usual Limit track increase mechanic.

Limit Break transforms a Magical Girl into a Witch. Or, if you want to be less stringent, adds a dot of Permanent Limit to the Limit track.

You are overreacting.

I suggest you take a break from this thread at this point. This is becoming a Thing.

[Q] Hijiri is slowly driving Sabrina insane. She's taking SAN damage. It has to stop now.
-[Q] Combine forces with Mami to create an Orbital Mobile Oppression Fortress, complete with Ribbon cannons and all.
--[Q] Find Hijiri and Befriend her at minimum range. Anyone caught in the crossfire just wanted to be friends with us, too.
---[Q] Now all your and Mami's problems are solved.

Accepting suggestions for improvement.

The fact that it wasn't instant butterflies and rainbows forever doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't better than the alternative. Unless Firn writes an official Omake of the other option we'll never know just how badly she might have reacted.
I'm sorry, but literally bending over backwards and putting our allies in danger just to continue to appease someone who has already attacked and stolen from our allies is not fucking okay.

Now she's loose, her location is unknown, and she can strike at any time.

If she feels like she's lost control? Good. She needs to learn that there are consequences for her actions. And maybe when she's felt what it feels like to actually lose control over her life, she'll start to appreciate it when she's given a little freedom.
