"We're missing something," Mami says thoughtfully as the two of you start to walk away. "I think? It feels like this was... I don't know, it is a lead."
So... what are we missing? We've theorized that she might have entered a Barrier and exited it outside our range. If we'd been willing to take the time to search the surrounding area a bit more, could we have picked up the trail?

One in three chance that we're about to walk in on a game of scrabble.
Is there some reason we wouldn't call ahead before going there?

Also, we should get their phone numbers while we're there so we can start texting instead.

Excellent. And I see we've gotten in touch with Homu too. It's still early for vote planning, but just outlining our objectives as I see them for the next update...

• Don't aggravate Oriko's issues, and indeed push her to make progress on them.

• Ask Oriko about the specifics issues she saw with us going to Asunaro - we can't rely on PMKM info to guide us, since it's inaccurate.

• Don't make Oriko feel like she only matters for her information as we do so - that would set her progress back quite a bit.

• Try to get Mami's support for going to Asunaro and checking in on things. Her information (since she mentored Kazuza for a while) would be invaluable.

• If possible, try and get telepathic contact with Kazuza set up - hearing about the situation from her is a lot better than semi-informed speculation, and having her permission for a meeting should make things go much more smoothly.
All good stuff, but we shouldn't forget to update Masami on where we left off the search for Kuroki so they know where to pick up the trail. (And get a phone number, so we can stop interrupting Scrabble games.)

And then Mami could end up overhearing us.
More to the point we'd be telling Mami that we're going to ask Kyubey. Instant repeat of earlier.

We could do it while she's in school I guess.
I will do my best to never make the mistake of not explicitly saying that we will wait for a time where Mami isn't going to be right next to us when we discuss things we don't want her to hear, she's not in the general vicinity for some reason even after we make sure she's not there to overhear, and that we also wait until it wouldn't distress her to do so.

I feel like you guys aren't being very charitable here.

It's possible Mami is reacting to her lack of knowledge about the witchbomb

Otherwise it's just her being fucking awesome hax Mami.

@Firnagzen

I forgot, but I wanted to ask: Were there only one trail of Kuroki prints going in/out of the warehouse? Because I feel there should've been two, at least. One going in and one going out.

Unless she was in there for a very long time, maybe?

The possibility of Kuroki witching out isn't one that Mami would be aware of, but the possibility of entering a Barrier and exiting somewhere else is one that she would be aware of. That could be what Firn is hinting at.

As promised, you find undisturbed tracks in the sandy dust of the warehouse, shielded from the wind by the walls of the little recess. Almost certainly a girl's shoes, too, just judging from the size, and leading only one way - out.

Kuroki left no tracks (at least, none that our near perfect spectrograph picked up) on her way in. Hmm.

Her power working on trace evidence she leaves behind is becoming increasingly likely - an incredibly annoying possibility, if we want to actually find her.
