Grief opposable toes?Do hand holding, but with our feet instead of our hands. Our feet are out of sight, right?
But I want people to call me Tim. That's who I present myself as to other people, so why be rude and insist on calling me something else?
I'm nearly positive that we have called it Incubator in the past, either in conversation or over telepathy. I don't have time right now to go digging through canon, so that's where I'll leave it.Does it know that we know that it's real title is Incubator? We don't want to give away how much we know to it.
Aren't Courtesy and Social Snub opposites of one another?I'm nearly positive that we have called it Incubator in the past, either in conversation or over telepathy. I don't have time right now to go digging through canon, so that's where I'll leave it.
And even if we haven't, I'm not sure how much that could reveal. We don't even have to make up a lie, we could just say that we put it together from context clues: the soul gem looks like an egg, "Kyubey" is some sort of corruption of another word even if it works as a pun in Japanese, etc.
Or...
Why did you call me Incubator?
"I don't know, just came to me. Seemed appropriate."
We have retrograde amnesia and automatically knew what it was on sight. It's already suspicious as fuck.
Alternatively, we could call it "Number Nine," which also works as an obvious social snub, which is the goal. It won't care, but Bennouna will notice that we are professionally courteous and distinctly nothing more to the thing.
Pretty much just implying that we should keep holding her hand in a comforting way. Maybe stroke soothingly it with our thumb. Don't wanna micromanage the affection.Huh, no need to specify that in the vote I guess.
Pretty sure that's an automatic action at this point.
I'm not sure that playing footsie is going to be very soothing.Do hand holding, but with our feet instead of our hands. Our feet are out of sight, right?
I tried searching the story-only thread, but Firn uses "Incubator" in the narration a lot, so it was mostly false positives. Seems like the only times we said it out loud were in timestop or a privacy field.I'm nearly positive that we have called it Incubator in the past, either in conversation or over telepathy. Only in SV folks. :lol
...what's the image from?
A manga called Acaria, if I recall correctly.
Wow, it's obscure. Doesn't even have a TV Tropes page.
Or maybe it's like someone calling you "Human". Or by a job title.
It's been protocol that we don't offload all our free floating grief on QB, only enough that what we have is no longer unwieldy. And the votes so far doesn't say giving all the grief, only some of it.I'm reluctant to offload all our Grief, since we're supposed to use that to make a vehicle to travel with today, but we're probably going to get more Grief off Nadia anyway.
Not Mura, but this is probably relevant to your question:Hey @Muramasa? Can I prevail upon you for a full explanation of why you want to get rid of some of our grief? I'm pretty sure you've pointed to it being described very negatively by Firn's narration, but I'm not entirely certain I actually understand your case, and that can't be the full extent of it because of course it's going to be described negatively -- when has it not been?
This was last night, when we gave Homu a clear seed so she can sleep in timestop. You spare her attention and a smile as Grief starts billowing forth in great, swirling clouds. You crush it down as fast as you can, sending Grief spheres soaring away to join your main mass - it's starting to become unwieldly now, more than enough to fill up one of those big shipping containers. Probably two.

From now on we shall only refer to Kyubey as Timothy.
We are the ones in control of how long it takes to feed him that two Seeds' worth of Grief. We can just make sure it takes the entire length of the conversation to finish.Telling QB to go suck Grief should probably be reserved for whenever a sensitive topic is raised, since it'll probably come back afterwards.
We're the ones in control of the Grief. We can stop feeding him when we feel it's appropriate. We may only intend to let Kyuubey have some of our grief, but the way the vote informs Kyuubey of the grief he could legitimately assume we want him to vaccuum it all up.
It wouldn't even be a Kyuubeyism, it would be Sabrina's own fault this time!
Is now really the time to have this conversation? You're also giving away the fact that we know Kyubey is an alien and pretty much ensuring that we'll have to now explain that fact to everyone here except Homura. In a public place where we can't use the privacy field. In front of an MG we just met. This would be somewhat awkward.[x] Tell Kyubey that we have some Grief to deliver to him. It's waiting up on the roof. He should head up there so we can give it to him. And after he does so, he should contact whatever his species considers an expert on the subject of grief and ask if there's a way to make our grief into a form that's more efficient for their conversion rates.
He can almost certainly eavesdrop on us whether one of his bodies is visibly there or not. The point isn't to keep this conversation private, it's to get him to leave because his presence makes Mami uncomfortable.Would offloading Grief on QB actually make him go away? I mean if the stuff is on the roof, won't he just send a duplicate body up there so he can still keep eavesdropping on us in the cafe?
