How does one lose hugs? Is it because since Madokami is conceptual and hugs are physcial that the two can't interact with each other well? I just confused myself, what the heck am I saying.

It's a katamari damacy reference. The king of the cosmos loses all the stars (or destroys them by mistake; it's been a while since I've played), so he sends his son to make new ones out of things on Earth.

It's a rather old game for the ps2, so I would expect everyone to recognize it. Don't feel bad! <3

@justinkal Why would you say that. That's got to be one the cruelest things I've ever read.

@mistfist Ah, okay. Although I wasn't talking about the reference, thanks for the clarification for it. I think I'll look it up and see what it's about. Also, I was just confusing myself with my own explanation about why Madokami lost her hugs.

We're still at Doka's house and will probably be eating breakfast. We could do this over telepathy. I also disagree with the presentation -- better to give Sayaka the whole set of ideas.
I'd prefer to at least finish breakfast before we switch to serious topics.
We should telepathy Kyouko; it's a nil-cost action.
Zero cost, but probably still somewhat early in the morning, and we want to schedule her last because she's the most flexible out of Bennouna and the cleansing trip. Talk to Bennouna first, then the cleansing trip, then Kyouko fills in wherever.

[x] A new day!
-[x] Of course you realize, this mean war. :p
-[x] Ask Sayaka what time it is.
-[x] Morning routine. Ask everyone if they slept well, if you get a chance try to help with breakfast, etc.
[x] After morning routine, discuss plans for today with everybody.
-[x] List out what you have to do today: Bennouna, cleansing trip, Kyouko-sorry-Mami-*hugs*, you wanted to do some enchanting done before the cleansing trip.
-[x] Invite Sayaka along for the day. Multiple powers == hax.
--[x] Tell her what powers are available - they have a teleporter, gotta get that Deep Strike. creeeeeeeeeeeeeed!

I'm keeping the teleporter line because of the 40k reference.

What kind of army does Sabrina play?

GAH. This line:
-[] Of course you realize, this mean war. :p
Someone please come up with a way to segue from this into challenging her to a game of 40k. Please, for the love of the memes, someone.

Okay, now that I'm home and have a calculator, I can convert to metric. Seems like a Seed has ~26 m3 of Grief.

A 1cm diameter marble has a volume of ~5.24x10-7m3. That means each Clear Seed holds about fifty million marbles of grief. This is significantly higher than the ~two million marble estimate I've been using up to this point.

"... I need a cleanse," she says, holding up her hand, palm facing you.

"Oh, is that all," you reply, relieved. The corruption is easy to draw off, perhaps about a fifth. You've been in the timestop for a subjective total of maybe four hours, at a guess- while travelling ordinarily doesn't take so long, travelling while going over the path with a fine toothed comb certainly does, and so does searching a house.

You crush the cloud of grief down into the small spheres that's become your tradition, and frown at the number- seven of them. After a moment's thought, you make another group of fifteen to form another vertex on your icosahedron by adding eight more marbles from your pocket.

Seven marbles is a fifth of Homura's soul gem capacity. Thus, thirty five marbles is the entirety of Homura's soul gem capacity. Homura's capacity, however, is below average. Let's say fifty marbles covers the average full cleanse.

That means that each Clear Seed covers almost exactly one million full cleanses.

What I need, to calculate exactly how many Grief Seeds a Clear Seed is worth, is how many full cleanses a regular Grief Seed provides. That said, even if a Grief Seed provides five full cleanses (and I think that's a very generous reading of the source), then a Clear Seed is worth 200,000 Grief Seeds.

Now, you could argue that there is essentially no difference between a value of "ten thousand" and a value of "one hundred thousand" grief seeds - either way the Clear Seeds represent basically unlimited cleansing. However, I feel that we should ensure that we provide accurate information about anything we hand out - we need to gather as much trust as possible if we're going to change the system, and making order-of-magnitude errors about the power of something we create doesn't exactly inspire confidence in ourselves.

Before that, we need to find out if each Grief Seed provides equal amounts of cleansing, and if each Soul Gem has the same grief capacity (higher capacity gem = fewer full cleanses from the same seed).

OOM errors are okay if we also give confidence intervals - "We're almost certain it's more than a thousand Grief Seeds, probably more than ten thousand, and maybe up to a hundred thousand."
We are, and we should. She has all the information she needs to make a far more precise calculation than we can, and having the actual number on tap might come up during the Bennouna discussion.

@Vebyast ?
I don't really see a good spot for it while we're on this vote. Next time we move somewhere and have to take a break to concentrate. We can either fly a ruler out or do some fanciness with cesium ions and frequency division and radio waves and interferometry.

For the Soul Gem grief capacity, we could ask our close magical girl friends--those being Mami, Homura, Sayaka, and ourself--to use their magic until their Gem's are filled up to something like a sixth or fifth of the way filled. Then see how many grief marbles each one makes. That way we can get a possible idea of what a possible average grief capacity is for Soul Gems. Not sure about asking other Megucas though. Kind of awkward to ask someone to willingly fill up their Gem with grief.

Need to think about how to get the Grief Seed cleansing amounts though.

Edit: But yeah, right now, this isn't that important. Better to get through daily morning duties first and wait for the next vote.

We could do the math on the way to or while talking to Bennouna?
Which is very definitely going to be a later vote, since we'll need at least one back-and-forth with Sayaka, plus calls to Kyouko and the Tokyo crew, and then another for Bennouna. I think that it's a good idea and I'll try to remember to add it when we have time, just not in this vote.

Should we decide on a more formalized measurement of grief first? I've got a rough idea already - using the Marble as the base measurement:

1 Millimarble - 1/1000th of a Marble of Grief
1 Centimarble - 1/100th of a Marble of Grief
1 Marble - Grief which, at normal, unwitchy density and formed into a sphere at 1 atm pressure, has a radius of 10mm
1 Basketball - 100 Marbles of Grief
1 Misery - 100 Basketballs of Grief
1 Witch - 100 Miseries of Grief
1 Black Sun - 100 Witches of Grief

Any suggestions? New names, standardification, changed numbers? We won't be able to accurately measure cleanses on the scale of thousands until we have a unit system for Grief.

Using your calculations, you could assign a metric to Grief in order to compare cleanings.

You sort of already have though, you call it a marble of Grief. So you can have a decimarble, centimarble, et. all. It shouldn't matter if you don't get whole numbers from Soul Gems or Grief Seeds.

Next Sabrina could calculate how much A Tiro Finale or other attacks cost in terms of the Marble Metric.

Edit: Is this what they call Ninja'd?
