I'd forgotten that we'd already told them our plans to do this. I guess there's no need to discuss it again, so I'll cut that line.

EDIT: Line has been cut by editing previous post. Best I can do from my phone.

The fluff is fine. I take issue with this:

We've already discussed the Orikobomb with them, using those very points, and they agreed to do it after the picnic. Rehashing this is in no way worth ditching Sayaka to do a hush-hush privacy huddle with Mami and Homura out of earshot.
Huh, forgot about that. Editting.

EDIT: Done

DOWN WITH HITOMI TANAKA!

Ugolino said:
Inviting Hitomi is courting disaster given Sayaka's issues with owing her and what kirika did.

We should leave that info for later. Much later.

Frankly I believe Ugo is 500% accurate about this. Sayaka's "debt" issues are not something we want involved here, dammit, and we fixed the damage Kirika did.

[X] "Jeez... you can't end a picnic without ice cream."
-[X] Don't move for a few seconds
-[X] "I'm too fat to get the ice cream." Sadface.
-[X] Consider making Chibi-Brina get the ice cream; remember you can't do that right now. File away the 'Chibi-Brina as food server / maid' idea for later.
[X] Offer everyone Ice Cream and their pick of the leftovers.
-[X] Make sure that Homura takes some. They can stay fresh in her shield forever, and she should have something to eat besides instant noodles.
[X] Play with Nagisa until Shin comes to pick her up.

[X] Ask Sayaka if we can talk with her after she's done taking Kyousuke back.
-[X] Call Homura and Mami over and lay out what we intend once Sayaka and Hitomi are out of earshot. Are they okay with this?

---[X] After that's done, telepathy O&K that we're about to talk to Sayaka. We'll tell them how it ends. Wish us luck.

[X] Find a private setting to talk to Sayaka.
-[X] Follow the vote below if there wasn't any major modifications to our plans, otherwise, do what Mami and Homura suggested.

[X] There's two magical girls Sayaka should meet. Mikuni Oriko is, was a precognitive; she was the one who warned us about Sayaka getting Witch Kissed; and Oriko's girlfriend, Kure Kirika.
-[X] Remember when we said some Magical Girls are misguided? They're like that.
-[X] Oriko's a fatalistic girl who was firm on the 'ends justify the means' mindset, and used her visions to try and achieve good things... Even if that meant hurting people.
-[X] We fought them, beat them, put them under house arrest, and have been working on convincing them they can do better, that they can do good and help people without going to the extreme lengths they did. We've made some progress, but, well, there's a reason why we haven't let them out.
-[X] The truth is, Oriko was the one who burned down Sayaka's home.

Okay, look. Hitomi was hurt much less than Sayaka by O&K, and is a very level-headed person in general. I expect involving her to get Sayaka to calm the fuck down. And with her being informed, it means that she can pursue Oriko for restitution herself - through financial recompensation, for example. In other words, Hitomi knowing about the incident makes Sayaka less likely to try and stab Oriko in the name of justice, not more.

Beyond that, having someone to talk to about this is still going to help Sayaka a lot.

We all remember Oriko telling us this was the best day to tell Sayaka.

She never said a damn thing about Hitomi.

Oriko also liked the "plan blind date" that Mami and Homura soundly rejected, and that we're not doing. We're not changing our approach here based on Oriko's desires. And her precog was on the fritz at that point anyway - she explicitly told us that her plan was just based on her own judgement at that point.

We're not going to tell her to not talk about this with Madoka, and we should encourage her to do so! Why are you people still raising this as a point!?

The rest, K, whatever, I disagree with you and clearly that's not going to change. But that? Wtf?

Okay, you want her to discuss it with a friend. Why Madoka instead of Hitomi? They're both Sayaka's longtime friends, but Hitomi has the pro of also being affected by Oriko's actions, so she can relate better, while Madoka has the con of potentially pissing off Homura by involving her with Oriko.

So... 'wtf' right back at you. o_O

Isn't Madoka explicitly Sayaka's best friend, whereas Hitomi is... Kind of a bitch in some cases?

I don't have a problem with Sayaka discussing this with Hitomi.

I do have a problem with her not discussing it with Madoka.

This is a "looking beyond this month" issue. Madoka needs to be kept in the loop. To have her best friend keeping something like this secret from her is tantamount to the exact opposite.

Just... Just think about that, please.

No. All three have been friends for years.

In the canon notes for Madoka, her best friends are "Hitomi and Sayaka." Hitomi is given just as much credit as Sayaka is.

The division that grows between them over the course of the series, as she's kept uninformed of the situation, is one of the small tragedies of the series.

Remember, Hitomi gave Sayaka first rights to confess to Kyousuke, despite having a crush on him herself. That's not 'bitchy' behaviour in the least - it's being unusually considerate.

Okay. Put that way, makes a tad more sense to me.

Still: Madoka should be kept in the loop. The reason I'm not advocating for her to be here is that I think Sayaka should be allowed to tell Madoka herself.

Guys, I'm fine with Sayaka being able to talk to both Hitomi and Madoka about this situation. Afterwards. But right now, I'd like to minimize the number of unknown variables while we're talking to Sayaka to reduce the risk of something unforeseen happening to make this all end in tragedy. Sayaka's still got this weird life debt thing going towards Hitomi, and we don't know how having her there might affect the outcome. Not to mention that if things get physical, she has the highest risk of getting hurt in the crossfire.

I want to give Sayaka our full attention for this conversation, not divide it between the two of them. And honestly, telling Hitomi about how her arm got broken deserves to be its own conversation, not a sidenote in this one.

Y' all silly people thinking about whether Hitomi this, Yakuza Princess that, is Sayaka gonna Sayaka the Oriko...

Can we take a moment to to lament how we're giving up another chance to hug the Doka?

We need to get Homu to hug the Doka; that's more important for Plan Shipping. Besides, we already have all the Mamihugs we want.

You know, that "weird life debt thing" is more likely to make Sayaka think twice before getting violent or shutting down, and somewhat ironically all the bonding time we've had between Sayaka and Homura has done a great deal to teach Sayaka not to jump to conclusions about people. I think having the two of them there, rather than provoking her, will be a great deal of help in getting Sayaka to think about things calmly and soberly, rather than flying off into a righteous fit as she is prone to.

Let's not forget that Sayaka's canon spiral results from two things: isolation from her friends and support system, and refusal to cleanse because she wasn't aware of how Grief accumulation affects her judgement. Neither of those are going to be true if we keep her friends in the loop and keep her Gem clear.

We don't really spend a lot of time not SOCIAL-ing, so we'll have to leave that for our (future) Asunaro friends.
They have had some past success in the field of Kyubey-vivisecting. :p

A thought on Kyubey: We've often expressed concern that Kyubey will try to turn our friends against us. But to date he's only ever tried talking shit about us to Ono, who barely knew us and didn't like us much anyway. (Although it's possible that he's also badmouthing us to the Tokyo Council and that's a factor in the friction we're having there.) But he hasn't really tried making us look bad to any of our friends since he made that snide remark in front of Mami after the lichbomb, despite the fact that he's had several days in which he could have Orikobombed Sayaka. So why not? Well, he could be waiting for a more opportune moment. But maybe he's decided not to bother because he doesn't think it will work. All of our friends know about the lichbomb, so they better than to trust Kyubey. If he starts talking crap about us, they probably wouldn't pay it any mind. :D
