I'm of the opinion we're doing this more for ourselves (and Homura), than for Ono.

... I don't really get that, tbh. How does going out of our way to help someone like this benefit us or Homura? She's been a real headache and a half.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm motivated to help her because she probably really needs it. And despite any feeling of irritation, I definitely don't want her to die or Witch.

[X] To Homura: Thoughts? Prod her to talk if she seems she wants to say something, but not too much.
[X] When you find her, remotely check Ono's Gem and Seed's grief levels.
-[X] If she's fine, go home.
-[X] If she needs cleansing, ask her to meet you outside.
--[X] If she doesn't, insist and explain the dangers of Soul Gem corruption, starting with Grief Spirals, then Death.
---[X] If she still won't cooperate, warn (Apologize?) her and cleanse her Seed remotely.

It might be going out of our way, but in a sense, I feel we're doing this not entirely for Ono's benefit, but for our own wish of wanting to help all the megucas. I'm not sure how to express it, but it's kind of getting 100% in a video game? You do it because it's your own imposed goal, not because you feel anything for the NPCs.

As for Homura, if SWB is right that she's seeing this situation as one she's lived and failed many times, like all the times she tries to help Sayaka and this one witches out no matter what Homu tries, then, but dealing with this, managing to help Ono, we would be proving to her that her efforts weren't all in vain, that the possibility of helping other is there, and she just needs a little more insight, or help.

In the meantime, Mura, it would be preferable if we didn't have to break into her house. That'd poison relations for a long time. Let's ask Oriko if we can just sit this out for tonight without consequences.

What's the point of asking Oriko? We can check Ono's grief levels ourselves in a minute. That should tell us enough to know whether she'll be fine tomorrow or not.

Eh. It might not tell us if she's going to do something stupid, and if we did it at all, I'd want to do it from timestop and not tell her. Just barging in on her if we don't have to would not be preferable.

Well, there's been more comments on understanding her side of things than usual - I'm (generously) interpreting that as a conscience.
Well, I'm feeling more irritation than understanding.

IMO, it's kind of both. It looks like she might have gone through some pretty bad stuff. Plus, she's a magical girl. And we're pretty much going "I don't really care about choice or what you want or think" even if it is to help her. Then again, I find Megane irritating even though I emphasize with her. I'm mostly withholding judgment until we find out what her deal is.

...so Emiya syndrome then, as cliché as FSN comparisons are. The videogame comparison doesn't really work, imo. Too mechanical.

Am I the only one that thinks time-stop-cleansing her Seed would be far, far worse than any forceful option?

Ono seems to have a complex about being 'inferior', wanting to be respected, or at least seen as somebody worthy of respect.

If we were to bluntly warn her we're gonna break in to her house, she could at least tell us she'll come out and make us wait 5, 10, 15 minutes just to piss us off. We'd wait if she promises she'd come out and we don't feel her trying to escape or something. We're not going in this blunt, but even this scenario allows Ono some agency.

If we were to time-stop-cleanse... Ono's feelings would be completely and utterly ignored. She would't matter in this scenario.

Almost the exact same thing happens if we actually break into her house, though. We don't have to just timestop in without warning or giving her an opportunity to willingly meet us.

We're already sort of ignoring her agency and feelings by the way. Of course she might not even be in her house right now. This line of discussion could be completely pointless.

Perhaps "idiot" is overstating it a bit, but point is that incubators have demonstrated a remarkable lack of caution when dealing with things they don't understand.
Lack of caution? Unlikely. Insufficient caution? Clearly; the results speak for themselves.

But we know that incubators don't understand people so much as have finely tuned black box* models for human behavior. There's some evidence that they have similar black box models for magic and wishes. These models gave them answers that said the risks were manageable, and then they got caught on a weird case where the model breaks down and suddenly the simulated black box spits out a result very different from the real-world event.

Kyubey had good reason to believe in these models, and they apparently gave him answers that amounted to 'differences in degree, not in kind.' And the models were right. And then it was too late.

*: A 'black box' model (at least for my purpose) is one that makes no attempt to describe what actually happens inside the box; it just describes what output you get when you provide it with specific inputs.

Hey Firnzagen, I have a few songs that could serve as music for the battle against walpurgisnatch and Feathers, tell me what you think of them.

Kyouplomacy save us.

Until Mura explains his plan, I'll change to something simple:

[X] To Homura: Thoughts? Prod her to talk if she seems she wants to say something, but not too much.
[X] Let Homura and Mami know that you're gonna check Ono's grief levels. If she's actually doing fine, you'll just turn back and go home, if that's fine with them.
-[X] Grumble about stupid cosmetic magic.
[X] If there's time at all during trips, ask about the 100m magic range thing.

If you're going to suggest Mario themes, at least suggest one that plays on her being the stage constructing witch, who changes the whole of the age into a drama.

And, of course...

There's already a theme.
