Wouldn't she have school?
Ping her to check if she's skipping? Maybe arrange a meet after school?

Actually, what's stopping us from finishing up Kyosuke's healing during the day? It wouldn't be ideal, but it'd get it out of the way. Sure, we'd risk awkwardness with Sayaka/Hitomi, and risk the completely unwanted complication of lolcrush, but...

[x]Morning routine.
[x]Wake up calls for all of your friends. Including Sayaka.
-[x]Mention to Sayaka that we might try and finish off Kyosuke's healing during the day. Does she want us to hold off until everyone can go as a group again?
[x]Call Ono. Ask how she's doing, if she's used the seed, and where she wants to meet up today. Bring up telepathy.
-[x]Like this.
[x]Walk with Mami and friends to school.
[x]Go visit warehouse-kun.
-[x]How are the Sendai groups doing?
-[x]Pick up science where we left off.

He might crush on us if we do it by ourselves.

Which is why we CRUSH HIM FIRS-No wait MECHA GURREN ZILLA LAGANN doesn't solve all problems.

...The fact that it doesn't is a failure on our part.

Well, the fact that it'd take about 4-5 times as long is one thing stopping us. Mami is a better healer than us and Homura is very much a better healer than us, so I'm assuming that means the three of us together would be about 4-5 times quicker than just Sabrina alone.

So here's our big to-do list.

Things We Need To Do Tomorrow
1.) We promised Homura to help her get weapons.
2.) We promised to finish fixing Kyousuke.
3.) We promised to meet with Ono.

I think we can do all of these things.

And after that..
4.) I think we need to check on those girls on the other side of Mitakihara.
5.)We need to meet with those girls from that other city. Also we still have to deal with the girl who went catatonic. My impression is that she was witchbombed, and therefore she could inadvertently witchbomb other magic girls.
6.) Prepare for the Soujus.
7.) Science!

Did I miss anything?
A couple of notes:
1. We don't yet know when Homura is planning to get weapons. Since it's going to be in time-stop, this can happen at any point without interfering with our schedule. However, we should confirm with her that we still want to go even after today's fiasco of a conversation.
2. We agreed that we would finish healing Kyousuke, but we said it would be in the next few days, not necessarily tomorrow.
3. The meeting with Ono isn't until after school tomorrow, we have plenty of time to do other stuff first.
4. Agreed; we do need to check up on Masami and Hiroko. We contacted them telepathically this morning, but we should arrange to see them in person and cleanse them.
5. We need to see the Sendai girls (as well as the University and Ishinomaki groups) as part of the general cleansing effort. I don't know what we can do about Akiko. Possibly find Kato Setsuko (or her body/soul gem/grief seed) by using our bullshit grief powers?
6. If we head off to fight the Soujus in Asunaro, we should make sure to meet up with Niko Kanna while we're there. She has the same goals as us (dewitching girls and infinite cleansing by the power of SCIENCE!), though her methods are lacking because she doesn't have bullshit grief powers. Potentially an extremely useful ally (though the rest of the insanity/lack of pants in that city is admittedly rather off-putting).
7. Agreed. The clear seed experiments are still pending, and we also need to try out the space folding/hammerspace thing.

We can fix Kyousuke during School Hours.
My vote is no. By my reconning, that would take ~3 hours if we try to do it alone (since we're worse at healing than Homura and Mami and it took the three of us ~45 minutes to heal him up halfway). Let's wait until we can do it as a group.

Well, I did leave them out of this set of pings...but I do think we should ping them soonish.

Everyone refers to the main cast. Madoka, Homura, Sayaka...
Why shouldn't we just go ahead and contact everyone (or at least all of the groups) that we know and arrange to make a cleansing run for everyone who needs it?

Despite my enthusiasm for it even I can't handle a whole day of science, so lets keep it down to... before lunch maybe? And focus on the more important questions: de-witching, cleansing constructs, dimensional fuckery and creating bodies. Much as I like the railgun it's not really important enough to bother with now that the moment is past with so much time before Walpurgis.
I would rather do a cleansing run before lunch and the Science after. That way we can look for witches along the way so that we have grief seeds to use. Otherwise we'll have to bum them off Mami or Homura.

The most important Science experiments to do are the ones that seek to understand the nature of clear seeds so that we can determine if they are safe for general use. We already determined that we would not hand out any clear seeds until this question gets resolved (Oriko was a special case because she's helping us perform that experiment and she's less at risk because of precog).

Do Sendai girls go to school? That, and experimenting with pumping healing magic into clear seeds would be good. Ideally that particular test would be done early so we can naturally talk to Rin about it later in the day during a cleansing run.

Nothing really to disagree about with this vote. All seems to be in order. Might as well start figuring out how the science is going to go.

If we want to do science now, then we should ask Mami if we can borrow a couple of grief seeds. And maybe ask Mami (or Homura or Ono) for some tips on how to create/access hammerspace.

What I remember on the science list, in rough order of priority.

Directly contribute to short and mid-term goals:
-Continue grief seed experiments where they got cut off (someone mind digging through and finding what items on the grief seed experiment vote that got cut off?)
-Clear grief seed experiments
-Practicing whatever magic we think we need to do next to "reverse witchify" grief seeds (enchantment magic is the leading theory, right?) (might or might not want to wait until we can practice with Mami)

Potentially very useful if they work, even if they don't directly contribute to goals:
-Barrier creation
-"Artificial body" creation
-Testing limits of our power; finding ways to expand and or bypass limits (more general item, will need to fill in specific experiments)

Somewhat gimmicky but seems to have decent interest and support:
-Familiar creation
-Projectile weapon creation (like railgun)
-Testing for other "reality screwy" properties we can imbue grief with

Almost pure gimmick:
-Maintaining consciousness and awareness as only a soul gem
-Magical girl "mitosis" (what happens when we heal a part of our body forcefully kept seperate from the rest of it?

I think we have time to focus on more than just one or two high priority items, especially if we are willing to bump down the time spent on the lower priority ones hour or less.

Here is what I personally would like to see this science session:
-finish grief seed experiments that got cut off from last vote
-try witch Barrier creation (not too much time spent on this unless something very promising seems to turn up)
-clear grief seed experiments (if not covered by first item)
-rest of time spent on practicing whatever magic we think we need to do next to "reverse witchify" grief seeds (enchantment magic is the leading theory, right?) IF we think that doing it by ourselves rather than waiting to do it with Mami can be productive.
--Otherwise experiments to what sort of "Witchy effects" can persist outside of our control range and those that can't (why are things healed by our healing magic while our magic is grief boosted not persisted, but physical manipulatipulation by "Witchy stuff" is, Etc)

I'm happy with how the update went. Things are looking up.

Magical girl "mitosis" (what happens when we heal a part of our body forcefully kept seperate from the rest of it?
I'd argue that this one is a bit more than a gimmick (if it works). Sojou has at least a dozen gems in her box without bodies, we need to find something for them to live in. Likewise seeds turned back into gems may not come with a convenient attached body.

I would argue that would fall under artificial body creation, rather than creating more bodies for ourselves.

Unless giving those girls a clone of our body for them to "equip" is considered an acceptable way to accomplish this.

Pending grief seed experiments:
1. Put two normal grief seeds together, one with a bit of grief, one with a medium amount of grief.
2. Measure the amount of grief which can be removed from a normal seed to completely clear it.
3. Completely refill, then completely clear a seed over and over again. Does the difficulty of adding/removing grief (or anything else) change?
4. Completely refill a clear seed and then put it next to a normal grief seed. (In the past, we've only done partially filled clear seeds next to normal grief seeds).
5. Completely empty a clear seed and put it next to a normal grief seed.
6. Put two clear seeds together, one with a bit of grief, one with a medium amount of grief.
7. Ask Oriko if her precognition sees any problems with using the clear seed for regular cleansing.
8. Ask Oriko if her precognition sees any problems if the clear seed was left in contact with a soul gem or body for an extended period.
9. Create a grief construct designed to scan a mind and project the ideal body for that mind as a 3d hologram. Use the device on a clear seed/normal seed/soul gem.
10. Pump healing magic into a clear seed.
11. Enchant a clear seed (requires more enchantment skill to do safely).

These tests require us to have 2 additional grief seeds, one of which will need to be cleared as a part of the tests.

Tests 1-6 are primarily designed to check if the nature of a grief seed changes when you clear it, or if the grief transfer is simply due to some sort of siphoning effect. These might also allow us to understand the nature of a clear seeds better or possibly detect some potential dangers from using them.

Tests 7 and 8 are the ones that are the most useful for determining whether clear seeds are safe for general consumption.

Tests 9-11 are about actually taking steps to dewitch the seeds.

Ever wondered how Mami turned Ribbons into Muskets? Here's one possible explanation.

Well, first of all, Mami has wish magic that reduces her expenditure of magical soul power. (This is canon actually, based on the comment Kyubey makes to Sayaka). This allowed her to spend a lot more magic on research then most girls can afford.

It's never said, but my head canon is that Mami's family must have had an heirloom musket (probably from an Italian grandfather or something) that Mami had access to and so could take apart and inspect.

Making the barrel, handle, and springs was easy. Mami just shaped her ribbons and hardened them till they became like steel. (I think I remember some comment somewhere in extra materials that she looked at the folding of steel to make it stronger and tried to replicate it with her ribbons).

The hard part was the explosion. Mami managed to figure out how to generate a blast of raw mana. This may be an ability that any magical girl can do, as we saw Homura do this in her first attack on Kuybey (that we saw) in the final timeline. We also saw Kyouko do something like this in her suicidal attack.

Next Mami had to figure out how to make this into a containable and releasable form. In her case the flintlock musket form gave her the answer. Mami concentrated the raw mana into an unstable crystallized form. This is then incorporated on her muskets in the location where the flint would be in a mundane flintlock. The lock mechanism then slammed this unstable crystal down at the rear of the musket barrel creating an explosion to launch Mami's projectile, similar to the explosion caused by gunpowder. (Yellow crystal flint can be clearly seen in the series).

This caused a bit of a set back as Mami next had to figure out how to strengthen her ribbon musket further to withstand magic powered explosions, but this became an advantage when Mami reached the point of developing her projectile. Which thanks to Homura's time stop power in Rebellion we can see is clearly just a ribbon ball containing raw magical power. Thus Mami's muskets are launching a hardened ribbon ball that penetrates the enemy's skin before releasing the internal magical power in a small explosion inside the enemy.

Which is why Mami's muskets are so powerful.

:eyebrow: What. I thought that was all pretty obvious. ;)

Found my old list of SCIENCE we can try. (Most of which consists of pushing our luck)

Maybe I should discuss some of of my SCIENCE ideas considering the fact that one of them is relevant to this discussion.

We keep getting hints that magic is "bullshit" and that we are deliberately overpowered and need to take advantage of that to achieve our goals (understandable considering how extreme they are).

Let's see just how much we can press this "bulshit"-ness.

- I agree that we need to try creating properties that don't exist like "attracts wood and only wood".

- I also agree that we need to try creating a clip/aerial with the property "expands our grief control radius"

- We should also try creating fictional materials like mithril and orichulcham as well as ones we've made up ourselves such as a bright red metal with a lower density than water

- We can also try making less consistent properties like "folds as easily as paper when touched by human hands but is as hard as vanadium to anything else" or even "feels like a fluffy pillow to everyone we regard as friends and red-hot iron to anyone we regards as enemies".

- Then we can try things like relativity-ignoring warp-drives.

- We can also try the property "attracts grief" and see if we can make that property strong enough to pull grief into our range.

- Then we can try "produces energy in violation of the laws of thermodynamics more efficiently than a grief seed"

- We can also try the property "converts other grief into hope (or any other emotion we specify)"

- We should also see if we can make duplicates of ourselves. If we armour ourselves up, we should feel like grief too. It should be useful even without the ability to go far from each other.

- Then the property of "acts as a router for telepathy that can be used as an alternative to Kyuubey". No more danger from telepathic conversations if this is successful.

- Also, an "incubator detector". That'll be useful.

- For a bigger project, something that will take a while t develop and will be dangerous, but could have high payoff if successful: Develop a kind of "brain-leech thing" designed to attach to an incubator body whereupon it immediately severs the incubator body from the hive mind and gives us absolute control of said incubator body while retaining all knowledge owned by said incubator. We will then have access to a lot more useful information among other things.

- Finally, and most significant to our current discussion. See if we can create books containing information we don't know. Test it with something easy to find out afterwards. (Has the property of "contains information on the colour of the car parked in the next driveway" or something) Then we can attempt to discover Homura's loop where Kyousuke get a crush on her (we want to know and it's been indicated that it might be discoverable, but not through her), our origins, incubator and magical girl demographics, incubator technology, how to get grief to do the things we want it to do, what the feathers are etc.

Most of these probably won't work or would at least take time to develop, but if they do, it would be a massive help.

Well, fictional materials seems to work.

For the science tomorrow, we really need to find a witch, for three reasons: 1) Making a barrier is incredibly useful for a wide variety of things, and having one to study will help with that tremendously. 2) We need to test out our most destructive projectile attacks, and not blowing up the city is something I can get behind. 3) More grief seeds allow for more science.

As for the railgun, we should test if we can make something frictionless, a superconductor, and our maximum voltage (if there is a maximum). Assuming that we can claim some of the cash while out with Homura, buying an industrial voltmeter/ammeter might be worthwhile. Also, since we're probably going to go with a railgun as our main attack vs. Waluigisyacht, what are we planning to use for ammo? Is there a huge pile of steel girders somewhere we can appropriate, and can we reshape existing metal into something more aerodynamic quickly?
