Something just occurred to me. We are planning on creating an organisation filled with magical individuals and making Sayaka, a non-magical individual, part of our staff and give her work to make her feel useful and she's very "Justice!' and "If only I had magic! Then I could be cool like you!"

We're slowly turning her into Filch!

I fully support childlike squeak and hiding behind Mami from mom. Maximum Blush engaged.

Normally, such sillyness I could get behind.

But here, it feels like doing this now will just make light of Sayaka's very real distress about this whole, actually pretty significant, thing. Generally not a good way to show friendship. Time and place and all that.

Maybe once the topic shifts, then we can do it for a different topic. But not as a reaction to this topic.

Sayaka's problem isn't something that we can just magic away. The most we can really do is talk to her about it, lend a sympathetic ear, and give her what advice we can. You know, deal with this like a normal person would.:V

SV foot in mouth syndrome is worse then Kyouplomacy.

Actually that line was my fault. Sorry guys.

Hey, it's OK. I think very few of us anticipated just how much this is "looming over" Sayaka to the point of where a "how have you been doing?" tone question would be enough to bring out the depression.

Now we know we should probably avoid "current home life status" questions with Sayaka if we want to keep the mood light.

You know what? Let's just tell Hitomi, it's getting annoying not being able to talk about stuff with her and there's no real downside I can think of.

[x] Hide behind the Mami
-[x] Madoka's being scary

Possible addition:
[ ] Telepathy everyone but Hitomi It's getting frustrating having to hide this stuff from our friend. I vote we tell her, all in favour?
-[ ] Assuming no objections, tell Hitomi about the magical world of trauma in brief terms. Ask Saya & Mado to give her all the details later.

Actually that line was my fault. Sorry guys.
I didn't see it coming either, so no biggie. I can hardly blame you when I voted for it too.

[x] Give a quick, apologetic look to Sayaka and Madoka
[x] ABORT ABORT. Change the subject.
-[x] Plans after school? Nagisa can probably come today.
-[x] Mami suggested a picnic earlier. We got to find a day to do this.
-[x] Talk about different kinds of tea.
-[x] Telepathy Homura and Mami I've been thinking that there might be a few girls coming here looking for me, after word about what happened in Sendai gets around. Just keep an eye out for new magical girls in the city, okay?

If we are going to act childish, I totally want Sabrina to work in some variant of saying "What are you, my mom?" to Madoka, just to see Homura's reaction.
In the middle of a Homura taking a bite for maximum hilarity.

If not now, then maybe in a future, light topic or conversation.

Okay. As I said, we know that Sayaka can dance. Do you think we can convince her to be satisfied with dancing for Hitomi? If necessary, we can provide background music.

I'm not sure we even need to do anything, if things progress as per canon:

When Hitomi tells her that she likes Kyouske, Sayaka sees that as an opportunity to let Hitomi confess without contest. Which isn't great for her mindset, but honestly...
- she isn't a magical girl so feeling down about things won't literally kill her
- Kyouske doesn't need healed so she's not going to contract
- she isn't about to contract just to feel better about her life because we've made it clear that contracting has humongous downsides
- So she can deal with being disappointed over a crush the normal teenage way and in weeks to months get on with her life?

I'm pretty sure that this scenario requires literally zero intervention on our part, healing Kyouske's hand excepted.

Can we be OOC?

Is that even a thing that can happen, considering we are Sabrina's thought process?

IMO, Sabrina is the "sum" of this whole thread, not just the recent posts (though granted, it is moderately weighted to recent posts), so yes. We have over a thousand pages of "character momentum" at this point; trying to flagrantly do something counter to everything we have collectively characterised so far would be OOC.

Yes, OOC moments happen, both in real life and with well written characters, especially under intense stress or duress. But neither of those seem to be the case here. And even then, there tend to be "patterns" to that OOC behavior relative to the circumstances and normal beviour/personality.

I hope we can manage a somewhat natural appearing changeof subject, but it will probably be more along the lines of:
"Anyway...Have you noticed that noonw seems to microwave their tea these days? I mean, really, what's up with that?"
