Kinematics: Nah. Compared to witches, magical girls don't really generate much grief, even if they use magic for hours - and the battle was certainly shorter than that. Remember how many marbles a single cleanse nets and typical seed gives about 2 full cleanses.

Though, come to think of it, Sakura's teleports used up several seeds, so add about 2-300 from that.

@Guilop: Solid, not marble I think. Anyway, I kinda want to try that seed trick. We could also see if anything happens if it leaves our range at once. ...Or feed to Kyubey. Which is least interesting option, even if it has it's benefits even when feeding one at a time.

This is also something I want to deal with with our grief science section.

Some things I feel should be on our to do list.

1. Inspect and compare all three grief seeds (Hildegarde, Aurora, Mami's Seed.)
2. Carefully refill Aurora back to an 'unused' state and pay EXTREME attention to how the grief seed is compressing grief. This is an effect we definitely want to duplicate.
3. Empty Aurora again to about half (Or even a quarter) capacity and have it make contact with Mami's seed and make sure Mami's seed won't absorb Aurora's contents. This is important, to determine the cause of Hildegarde's broken state. If Aurora's grief isn't absorbed, HUZZAH! We now have a very strong idea of what caused Hildegarde to break. Not only that, we've now determined that an empty seed is safe for use (Provided the core isn't directly exposed to magic).

Other things:

4. Exposing Hildegarde to more magic. This may be a bit more complex then just trying to infuse the seed. We may need something like a reapplied version of Mami's enchantment magic. Something to consider later.
5. Converting Grief into energy has been mentioned several times.
6. Grief leaving our range of manipulation is doing something strange. We really should explore this effect more, if slowly and carefully.

speaking of "later" Just how many grief marbles DO we have by the way?
Because I'm bored...

A marble (assuming basic marbles, not large ones) has a diameter of about half an inch. That gives it a volume of 0.06545 cubic inches.

A regulation size basketball has a volume of 455.9 cubic inches. So 6966 marbles are needed to make up the volume of one basketball. We have hundreds of them by now. 144 basketballs would put us over the 1 million marble mark.

If we can fill a room with grief... let's say an 8' ceiling, and an area of 12x15 feet. That's 2,488,320 cubic inches, enough volume for 38,018,729 marbles.

So a basic estimate in the range of 35 to 40 million would not be too far off the mark. At the very least, we're at the millions order of magnitude, and probably 10's of millions.

....
who's up for feeding QB?

@Kinematics: Iirc last time this was brought up Firn mentioned 1,5 inch marbles, not 0,5.

So 86 marbles per regulation basketball, assuming Sabrina makes regulation basketballs.

Also, small thing that solid and marble grief are different levels of compression.

Otherwise fun calculation. Now I kinda want to do grief beach with billions of grains.

Whatever the grief tries to do, it failed seemingly because there was too little of it. We do have the grief to spare now... Let's hope our brain damage doesn't act up lest we forget to start slowly instead of sending all the grief out of range at once. That would be interesting.

Okay, grief basketballs is our cue to call Kyubey for disposal once we're home alone.
I'd rather wait after science time to give our grief to KB. We don't know how much we'll need for the 'move grief out of range' experiment, and we'll lose some grief that way since we don't recover the grief that dissipates.

Before we start with the grief !!SCIENCE!!, we may need to call QB over and dump most of it.

Then we can keep a sizable number of marbles, but we've got more grief on hand than we'd ever need for SCIENCE.

?
shouldn't we test the effective of a drained GS so that we can have Homura test it?
Why Homura? Shouldn't we do the testing?
To be fair, that's a shitload of grief. We should maybe keep 1 seeds worth on us, the amount we have now is kind of excessive.
And maybe we need excessive amounts of grief to make is stick when it leaves our range. There's no point in giving to Kyubey until we're done experimenting.

...Not that we'd let that much grief out of our range at once, I think. Dangerous.

Hmm. Search... Aha.
My mental image is about 1.5cm
That's 1.5 cm diameter. I was using a half-inch diameter, which is 1.27 cm. Only slightly off.

To keep things in inches, 1.5 cm == 0.59055 inches, which gives a volume of 0.1078 cubic inches. That means 4228 marbles per basketball, and 237 basketballs to reach 1 million marbles. Still easily within the current likelihood, never mind filling a room.

Also, small thing that solid and marble grief are different levels of compression.
Are you sure about that? Marbles are the solid form of grief we've been using.

I just imagine the grief mass feeling a bit neglected, like "it's cold out here", "Don't leave me alone no more", "I'll jump! Don't think I won't!" "Am I useful, senpai?", "Feed me more tears".
