Band of Five and Karta Poem (Oshha)

Band of Five and Karta Poem

A band of five went north, into mountains of noisy stone
Prize and danger were found, quarry of stone, dozen of Onigar
Debate was raised, caution prevailed over word and blade
Blood was smelled and a pursuit was raised
Mountains were left, Karta the Onigar at their backs

Between the two dangers, a confrontation was made
Norsemen offered peace, Karta the Onigar offered death
The band of five fought as one, Rikard flung into the air
Ragnarr invoked overconfidence, Amlodi guarding the prize
Sigmund shielded his brother to be, losing shield and arm

Rikard returned aid, wrestling arm and exposing weakness
Agmundr struck with hand and sword, severing arm from body
Sigmund healed, Ragnarr moved spear and brought terror
Rikard climbed Karta to strike the threat, piercing heart by accident
Karta died, the first of the Onigar to met ending by Norseman
A battle won, teamwork bringing victory to the band of five

Adventure and friendship brought brotherhood
Blood freely shared between the band of five
Five villagers left into the unknown, five brothers turned home

Grid Frostdottir vs Agmundr Idskapadr, Grid's POV (Jaguard2234)
Grid Frostdottir vs Agmundr Idskapadr, Grid's POV

Grid Frostdottir stood in the sparring grounds, her heart racing with excitement. She had spent countless hours theorizing and practicing her new technique, and now it was time to put it to the test. Agmundr Idskapadr, a seasoned warrior known for his calm demeanor and formidable skills, had agreed to spar with her. He approached with a slight smile, his eyes twinkling with curiosity. "Ready when you are, Grid," he said, taking his stance.

Grid nodded, summoning her Ice Kunna. She focused on her back, willing the ice to form into wings. The cold spread across her skin, and she felt the weight of the ice as it shaped itself into two majestic wings. With a deep breath, she activated her telekinesis, lifting herself off the ground. To her delight, the wings held, and she hovered above the sparring grounds, looking every bit like a radiant valkyrie. "Here I come, Agmundr!" she called, her voice carrying the thrill of discovery.

Agmundr watched her with an appraising gaze, unphased by her sudden flight. As Grid unleashed a flurry of ice shards from above, he moved with practiced precision, intercepting each shard with his spectral hands. Grid admired his skill but remained undeterred. She continued her barrage, keeping herself aloft and out of his attack range. "You're full of surprises, Grid," Agmundr said, his voice calm but edged with respect. "But so am I."

Grid knew she had to shift the momentum. She soared higher, staying beyond the reach of Agmundr's sword-beams, and discreetly summoned her lion behind a nearby tree. With a roar, the lion emerged, its powerful voice stunning Agmundr and forcing him to his knees. Grid seized the moment, raining more ice shards down at him. But from this height, her aim faltered, and Agmundr managed to deflect most of her attacks. "Impressive, but not enough," Agmundr grunted, shaking off the stun.

Realizing she needed a decisive move, Grid formed a large Ice Wall. With a powerful thrust, she launched it at Agmundr, then immediately dove to the ground, positioning herself behind him. Her lion remained a looming threat, ready to strike again. Agmundr, now angry and focused on the lion, slashed a sword-beam at it, causing Grid a moment of panic. But he held back at the last second, sparing her summon. That hesitation cost him dearly. The Ice Wall slammed into him, knocking him out cold. Grid landed gracefully, breathing heavily but victorious. "I did it," she whispered, a triumphant smile spreading across her face.

@Shard I think it still works, if you just change the description of 2 and 3 I guess?

Edit: The fight basically, did play out like that. If you want a summery of the account.

We were fishing, we brought in our first cast, we cast out the net a second time, when we pulled up the net again there was a big cut at the bottom, the monster cut a hole in the bottom of the ship, when it came by for a second pass Galti threw his rope wrapped axe in the maw of the monster jumping onto it's back, Galti starts stabbing it with his saxe to distract it away from Erik and to kill it, it drags Galti into the depths while he's stabbing it to death, the fish dies and realizing that Galti can't make it back up in time he sacrifices the fish to Ran and accepts his fate.

Also I left the fated death up to the dice.

Battle Royale (Jaguar 2234)
Battle Royale

The sparring grounds buzzed with anticipation as Grid, Agmundr, and Kare Sky-Dancer prepared for their battle royale. The three warriors eyed each other, each strategizing their moves. Grid, feeling the weight of her previous victory, was determined to prove herself again. Agmundr, cool and collected, seemed ready for any challenge, while Kare, renowned for his agility and lightning abilities, appeared eager to test his skills against the other two. "Let's make this a fight to remember," Grid said, her voice steady.

As the match began, Kare wasted no time, summoning his lightning Kunna to create a blinding flashbang. Grid quickly erected an Ice Wall, while Agmundr shielded his eyes with his spectral hands, both avoiding the dazzling light. Kare used the moment to shoot into the air, his movements a blur of speed. Grid followed suit, her ice wings propelling her skyward. On the ground, Agmundr found himself at a disadvantage, his eyes tracking the two airborne opponents.

Grid launched a series of ice shards at Agmundr, while Kare sent a volley of lightning arrows. Agmundr skillfully intercepted both attacks with his spectral hands, maintaining his ground. Grid's lion then sprang from behind its Ice Wall, unleashing a powerful roar. Agmundr, anticipating the move, covered his ears with his spectral hands, avoiding the full brunt of the roar. Though rattled, he remained standing, and the lion retreated back behind the wall. The fight reached a stalemate, with all three combatants waiting for the next move.

Grid hatched a new plan. She realized that if her lion could stun Kare while he was in the sky, he would fall and be knocked out. She signaled her lion, which leaped out and aimed a roar at Kare. Simultaneously, Kare fired a paralyzing arrow at the lion, hitting its mark. Grid felt a jolt of paralysis as her lion, her Flygja, was struck. Despite being paralyzed, the lion's roar reached Kare, forcing him to kneel. Unable to maintain his flight, Kare plummeted to the ground with a heavy thud.

Seizing the opportunity, Agmundr gathered the ice shards and arrows hovering around him with his spectral hands, wielding them like swords. With a mighty effort, he unleashed a flurry of sword-beams at his immobilized opponents. Grid and Kare, both paralyzed and stunned, were unable to defend themselves. The beams struck true, and the sparring grounds echoed with the impact. When the dust settled, Agmundr stood alone, victorious. "Well fought," he said, extending a hand to Grid and Kare as they recovered. "But remember, a true warrior adapts to every challenge." Grid nodded, respect evident in her eyes. "Next time, we won't make it so easy," she promised, already planning her next strategy.

Tar and Oil (Shard)
Clearing your plot of land takes some time, but it does result in you finding a rather interesting patch of natural bubbling tar.

While you, of course, give a few buckets to the town's supply, it's not like you can just bucket all of it now can you?

(+1 Ordstirr, you now have Tar as a personal resource, one of the materials needed to maintains Ships. It can also be used in construction, improving the prestige gained)
Tar and Oil

Hands upon the bear's lands,
Here nearly cleared and sheared.

But now trouble bubbles,
Before eyes - liquid ore! [1]

Tar, the star of sail-ships!
Trade and raid's dearest kin!

Oil, ward away sea-soil, [2]
On waves where the brave tread! [3]

AN: I was challenged to write this by @KittyEmpress

Name: Akali Nightsinger (16)

Chargen Loadout:

1 PT for Berserk
1 PT for Martial Art (Sun Striker)
1 PT for Singing

Appearance: Obsidian Skinned and Tall, well muscled with shoulder length thick dark hair and amber eyes.

Personality: Naturally silent and always active, seemingly vibrating with unused energy when forced to stay still when not resting. Kind and gentle to younger children if awkward amongst those his age and older. When caught in a good mood can talk for hours and sing even longer, humming to himself regularly during work or hunting.

Backstory: When his mind found itself wandering amidst the hunt or while bathing in the sun, Akali considered the possibility that he had not been born as his fellow norsemen were but built in one of his fathers earlier fits of shaping madness.

His mother would tell him a story of strange fates; of her time as an adventurer on the high seas, the dangers she encountered and the treasures she plundered. By her word she found herself astray off the coasts of Gotland with her crew having starved, her luck turning even worse when she was shipwrecked by a leviathan of the seas.

According to her his father happened upon her and saw a free-if overly violent- thrall for the keeping and she wasted no time slowly seducing him until finally he was wrapped around her finger; she was taken care of and you were born.

From his fathers mouth spouted a tale of romance ; of lonesome days spent in the cavernous mountains of Gotland with only his craft and ever distant kin, only for his sorrow to be sated by an Amazoness of Dusky skin. She tried to choke him out with cloth at first sight, he'd never been more in love. From then he cared for and helped her recuperate until finally taking her to wife.

Akali inherited the blessings of his fathers labors and took to his mothers songs with fervor, but it was his desire for glory and battle under the sun that saw him find purpose in life. The new lands are rife with glory and adventure alongside danger and he eagerly awaits the challenge.

It occurs to me I went on a bit too much, but here's my character and I'm hoping to drop an Omake later today on why he got his Kenning.

Whenever someone has got time just let me know if anything needs to be changed.

NPC Shops
You can spend PT in the NPC Shops. 1 PT = 1 Item, though it depends on the item in question. There are also limited numbers of each item available. More items are created through bringing the shopkeeps more resources to make items with.

You may also use personal resources to purchase items, though it depends on if the shopkeeper wants it or not.

Seeress Shop
(3) Draught of Onigar Strength - Made of concentrated onigar blood, this potion massively enhances the drinker's strength for a short period of time.
(8) Scent of the Spine-Rat - Rubbing oneself with this concoction makes oneself smell like the prickly spine-rats that inhabit these lands, causing most creatures to avoid you. Lasts for roughly a day.
(16) Time Gator Scale - By consuming this scale--though an entirely unpleasant experience--one receives a limited immunity to time-manipulation.

Shapecrafter Shop
(Many) Mushling Spawnbag - One can grow their own thrall using this kit. Dumb, but able to follow simple commands, mushlings can handle most of the day-to-day projects about a farm, freeing up valuable free time for the owner.

Hrolfr Jurgensson's Mushling Spawnbag Commercial

Are you in need of cheap menial labor?
Is Hrolfr talking to us? I think he's talking to everyone.
Do you miss the convenience of having thrall doing inane and boring tasks?
Honestly yeah. Cheap labor is always great. Maybe we should go take some of those Crab-things as Thralls.
Well, Good News! I have just the product for you!
Shapecrafer tomfoolery? Shapecrafter tomfoolery.
Say hello to the Mushlings Spawnbag!
So that's why he wanted those bodies. I just thought it was for new shapecraft ideas.
With it, you can grow your own thrall. It's a bit stupid and lacks any ability to learn, but in this gods' forsaken land bereft of the comforts of home it is a great way to save time and ordstirr! It can till a field, carry bundles of fodder, and nets of fish, clean a house, and hold onto any valuables you take on your going a-viking!
Huh, he's being very helpful. I know they're necessary for our continued bodily life but sometimes it's really hard to be convinced of their need.
Mushling Spawnbag! It's cheaper than the other ones!
The other ones? Don't think about it too hard.
Product includes killswitches, poison organs, override commands, explosive diarrhea, erie glam eyes, soulless gazes, homicidal tendencies, and many many more!
Hrolfr Jurgensson denies any responsibility for the premature triggering of any of these safety measures.
We should probably properly warn people. Probably.

The Nightsinger (Abensur)
The Nightsinger

Akali hated the seas. He loved songs, he loved poems, he loved battle, he loved stories, he loved everything his people loved.

But by Odin's beard he hated the fucking seas.

My Mother Told Me
Someday I Would Buy
Galleys With Good Oars
Sails To Distant Shores

The seas reminded him of the darkness of the caves that no longer existed, the waves reminded him of the rumblings of mountains that no longer existed, the shouts and roars and shrieks around reminded him of the home that no longer existed.

My mother told me
Someday I would buy (buy!)
Galleys with good oars
Sails to distant shores

It was his greatest joy from his earliest days to wake before dawn, living in caves where the barest light reached on the best days made him crave the sun with all his heart. He would run over rocks, around beasts and atop the mountains themselves every day just to see the sun rise in its glory.

Stand up on the prow
Noble barque I steer
(Steady) steady course to the haven
Hew many foe-men
Hew many foe-men…

Many a nightmare was had in bed when he first heard the story of Ragnarok and the beast who would devour his beloved sun, mayhaps it was that realization that urged him to seek it out, that one day he may never see the sun rise over his home again. Never did he imagine in a 1000 years that it would be his home that was taken from him and with it the parents who raised him.

My mother told me
Someday I would buy
Galleys with good oars
Sails to distant shores

He wished in his heart of hearts that he'd been a worse son, that when his mother in all her kindness pleaded with him to flee and live well he'd raged more and rejected her. When his father, remarkably clear minded, ordered him not to waste his life and to carry on that he doubled back and died with them in the field. Yet he would sooner willingly walk away from eternity in Valhalla before he disobeyed his parents' dying wishes. And so he found himself left with naught but memories of lands untraveled and songs unsung.

My mother told me
Someday I would buy (buy!)
Galleys with good oars
Sails to distant shores
Stand up on the prow
Noble barque I steer
(Steady) Steady course to the haven

He felt no joy in knowing the Steelfathers were killed to the last in exchange, nor did he feel anger towards Hallr for not protecting them better. He simply reflected the seas he hated so, falling deeper and deeper into the depths of his despair, not knowing where the rain started and the tears running down his face ended.

And before he knew it he found himself in the bow of the ship, over the water and crashing fearsome waves belting his lungs out for all of Midgard to hear. He didn't care if he fell, he didn't care if the gods struck him down then and there.

If all he was left with was the memories of sights long gone and Kin long lost, at the very least he could sing.

Then maybe, just maybe he could imagine he was the sun for someone else.

Hew many foe-men

Hew...

Bjorn Drakeslayers Hunt 2: Not getting murdered by a fucking mosquito edition, ooc report:
-Went to forest
-Found a fucked up platypus mosquito hybrid that hunted by sucking up water then spitting it at creatures in a geysir that could cut men in half. Hereby named the water spitter.
Water spitters are quite antsy, using their water weapon at anything that disturbs them. they seem to group up though dont exhibit true herd behaviour.
-Followed water spitter until it came upon a two legged creature with a hole for a face. The holeface tried to do some sort of sucking thing but the water spitter merced it with a water beam. It then began to drink the holeface's blood.
-At this point bjorn made the executive decision that the water spitter wouldnt make for good livestock and shot it. The water spitter took offense to this and exploded, splattering blood everywhere.
-Bjorn harvested what was left of both creatures. The water spitters proboscis could maybe be used as tubing while the holeface's stomach is a very gross bag of holding.
-Bjorn decided to test his theory that a water spitter not full of blood and water wouldn't explode. He was proven right and realised that their stomach+proboscis combo could be used as an airbag for diving.

Overall results: Water spitters are dangerous if they are full of water, either try to get them from afar or get them to exhaust their water reserves. Both holeface and Water spitter make bad sources of meat and pelt but the holefaces stomach may be usefull for magic crafting.

IC version of this to come once my head doesnt wanna split in half.

Welcome to to Haskistadr, where we've got:

Spine-rats that explode!

Water-spitters that explode!

Crestheads that can make you explode!

Onigar whose hearts explode!

And probably many more!
