    - Landowners on the edge of the settlement should be allowed first picks on gains earned from incursions originating beyond their land.
    - Landowners only gain first pick on gains if they actively contributed to the defense themselves, not if they allowed others to defend their land.

    - A challenger cannot pick a proxy to go into battle for them, they must represent themselves in battle.
    - A challenger can choose a spouse, parent, or child to act as their proxy, or any neighbor should they lack any of these.

    - Sigmund Sigurdsson offers himself as living detector of deceit, betrayal, or falsehood for the Thing, owing his abilities to his Divine bloodline.

    - When hunting Great Beasts, the heart of the beast belongs to whichever hunter did the most harm to it, and will be saved for them in case of bodily death. To break this law is automatic exile.
    - This is already custom, to try and enshrine it in strict law will only cause more strife in deciding who is most deserving.

    - Contested materials, such as hearts but including others, should be distributed after hunts by games of chance, allowing Fate to decide where they belong to, and for the winner to negotiate afterwards.
    - Games of chance have no place in deciding the results of a hunt, for it incentivizes lesser contributions potentially being rewarded.

    - Specialty roles that contribute in unique ways, including but not only Seers and Shapecrafters, have the right to keep any information or secret they wish, and cannot be forced to hand out tools, information, blessings, etc to the village or any inhabitants thereof.

    - Golden grass seeds are to be distributed to every farm that wishes to cultivate the grass. In addition, all plots with good farmland are required to grow at least one plot of golden grass, unneeded excess they produce going to central storage for distribution to other families.

    • I see no reason not to approve being able to Postpone a Challenge in an active crisis, when we need to be working together.

    It seems fine to me.
     
    Agreed on allowing challenges to be postponed in the midst of a crisis. This land is treacherous, and our hold over it not yet entirely secure. It'd be foolish to let the response to an immediate danger be thrown off-course just for the instant gratification of the challenger.

    Yes, and you can prepare for those by simple common sense because you want to protect those areas regardless, because getting hit there means you're either dead or about to be real soon. There's no sense at all in opening up the floodgates for Shaming Strikes among folk adhering to the Law.

    Sigmund understands that nid is nid and Norsemen are Norsemen. Our foes do not hold back, but they are no Norsemen. We are better then them and hold ourselves to standards of honour. If we are to debase ourselves to the standards of non-Norse, can we still call ourselves Norse.

    OOC: SIgmund is the great-grandson of Tyr, the Norse God of Justice and Order. He can't really back down on this.

    [X] Proposal: Have an updated official list per season of reported threats, the crabs have gone unchecked, the onigar have lost one of theirs and could be scouting as they spoke. Glory is good but if we split in a dozen directions we leave ourselves vulnerable.

    [X] [Law Proposal] Sigmund challenges this, declaring it a mockery of honour and what separates true and honourable Norsemen from outlaws and non-Norse. We should not lower ourselves to the standards of dishonourable non-Norse.
     
    Well, OSHA raises an important metaphysical point I'd like to clear up. If we agree and enshrine changes to etiquette into law, is it still mid? I thought that since it was consensus based, it would no longer be nid. I'm obviously not suggesting the ability to dole out nid without consequence.

    The Law dictates what is and isn't okay to do.

    Keep in mind, however, that you are playing Norsemen who were raised in Norse society. You are going to think certain things are right and proper that you yourself might disagree with.

    Law is not the same as Culture. It'd take at least a couple generations of shaming strikes being legal before they stopped be shaming, and maybe even longer.

    Yeah, this sounds right to me. The other version isn't terrible or anything, but this sounds better.

    [X] Akali supports this Amendment, first pick of spoils should go to the landholder(s) that defend it and decided between them.
