A nat 1 should be an epic fail though, right?
Clearly that means the Rakghoul's manage to escape on some ships bringing in refugees. Then they end up on important planet's.

And then it is our fault that Coruscant has a Rakghoul infestation.

Which, all things considered, it probably already has in the really far down levels.

actually on the disaster role the higher the roll the worse the disaster is, so a nat 1 would be really good for us at least.

A Nat 1 on the disaster roll is going to lead to the Jebble Box being opened and Rakghoul's spreading again on Taris.

Because Taris is cursed. Any success is clearly going to be followed by a massive failure.
Fortunately, the Jebble Box is currently located on a desert planet in the opposite side of the Galaxy.
Several years before Palpatine's declaration of the Galactic Empire, the Chubbits of Aridus fought a war for possession of the Jebble Box.
In 19 BBY, the crew of the Uhumele located the Jebble Box on a battlefield on Aridus.
Also, a cure for rakghouls was found and mass produced back during Revan's day, so the rakghouls are long gone from Taris. Basically the only way they could reappear is with the Jebble Box, and that's pretty darn unlikely at this point. We have more plausible things to keep us occupied.

It doesn't really undo my point though.

Looking at the map, either Republic and Separatist forces are allowed to pass through our borders, or the battle's are going to get brutal in the gap, with forces bordering us redirected into that hell.

It won't take long before Separatist
and Republic forces start to consider forcing their way through our borders.

Fortunately, the Jebble Box is currently located on a desert planet in the opposite side of the Galaxy.

The cure was destroyed during Malak's bombardment.

They attempted to make another cure during the Swtor era but who knows how that turned out.

Darth Vader had an encounter with the Jebble box and the Sith connected to it in the same year he became Darth Vader.

Edit:
n 19 BBY, the crew of the Uhumele located the Jebble Box on a battlefield on Aridus.

These guys started the problem

19 BBY is the same year the the Empire was formed.

Also, your post ruined the formatting on mine for some reason.

That thing's been floating around the galaxy for more than a thousand years, it's hardly their fault. Hell, it was only on that battlefield because it's what the armies were fighting over. It's an ancient unopenable treasure chest that makes force sensitives feel weird. There's an amazing amount of legends floating around about it and a huge number of people that want to get their hands on it.

My point is that it's entirely possible that any random group of idiots could find it.

Obviously there will be a lot more options after the Rumor Mill, but for now, here's a number of write-in proposals:

Martial:

[ ] Hero Recruitment for HK-47: generally, the little psycho-droid is impressed by violence. And we have a lot of violent people on staff. Let's have The Silencer demonstrate the Thrysian ideal of 'communication through combat'. <HK-47 falls in love...> (OR this could be a Hero Action for Silencer)

[ ] Defend Kashyyyk: the Wookie homeworld is constantly under threat from Trandoshan slavers that live in the same system. Sometimes the Trandoshans even launch slave raids on well-defended Wookie regions on Kashyyyk or Alaris Prime. Ensure that they fail. (OR turn this into a base upgrade for our Kashyyyk facility -- something like 'comm center' or 'rapid response team'?)

[ ] Defend Kashyyyk, pt. 2: the Trandoshans are known to dump their Wookie captives on a nearby forest moon to hunt for sport. Make sure the Wookies win, and bring them home. Reward: meet Chewbacca...

[] Black Ops: Murkhana. the headquarters and homeworld of the Corporate Alliance, and source/distributor for most Separatist propaganda ('Shadowfeed Dispatches'). Also, within the same sector is the planet of Bal'demnic, which is the CIS's primary source for cortosis ore, used for anti-lightsaber weapons. Sabotage the mines and steal as much as you can on your way out...

Also:
[ ] Write-In: Becoming a Pirate Queen, One Piece at a Time: There are a limitless number of pirates, smugglers, and just general vagabonds prowling the backspace of the galaxy. We've destroyed the pirates whenever they've tried to prey upon the CNS, and we've smashed the Black Sun into oblivion. Now lets take control of the remnants. Using the pirate fleet we already own, lets recruit and consolidate as many pirating groups as we can under our Aegis. They're likely to have plenty of bases and knowledge that we can use, and if they don't want to cooperate, well, pirates usually carry bounties, don't they?

Diplomacy

[ ] CNS Recruitment: IGBC. Persuade our Muun allies to oust San Hill and his Damask-circle cronies from leadership of the IGBC, and to live up to their promises of 'neutrality' Reward: IGBC member worlds (including Scipio) formally join CNS

[ ] CNS Recruitment: Genian. I'm not sure if this would be a Diplomacy mission to Genian (persuade them to join CNS), or an Intrigue mission to Talesan Fry (uncover actual spy, persuade him to sell code-breaker to CNS), or a Stewardship mission to Fry Industries (persuade them to work with us, move facilities to Taris....?) I'd really like to see those omakes become a reality

[ ] CNS Recruitment: Separatist Parliament. Despite the de facto rule of the Separatist Council (the corporate leaders we see in the movies), the de jure government of the CIS is the Parliament that meets on Raxus Secundus. As I mentioned in 'Briefing the Boss':
Raxus Secundus is the official capital system of the whole CIS, though many delegates are finding themselves powerless in the fact of the corporate leaders on the Separatist Council, and a direct appeal to the Separatist Parliament would go a long way to recruiting many to join Neutral Space.

Intrigue

[ ] Talesan Fry, pt. 1: make contact, uncover CIS spy, purchase code-breaker
[ ] Talesan Fry, pt. 2: persuade him to hack CIS Shadowfeed, take over Outer Rim holonet network
[ ] Talesan Fry, pt. 3: contract with Fry Industries to build Shadowfeed control center/hub on Taris (Stewardship? Base upgrade?)

[ ] Clan Skirata, pt. 1: fund Kal Skirata's "underground railroad" for clone deserters. Reward: Abyss Watchers gain +1 clone commando squad per turn (representing the ones who wish to sign up with us). Also, increased rate of desertion if/when Null ARCs gain access to full GAR records...
[ ] Clan Skirata, pt. 2: fund Mij Gilamar's smuggling operation to bring medical equipment & supplies out from the GAR's noses.
[ ] Clan Skirata, pt. 3: track down Kamino geneticist who might be able to figure out clone aging issue (and/or inhibitor chip...)
[ ] Clan Skirata, pt. 4: jailbreak 'mad scientist' who designed anti-clone bioweapon (delivery mechanism for retrovirus fix...)

[ ] Damask Holdings: now that you're settled on Muunilist, you can try to trace what happened to Hego Damask's assets after he died. Perhaps there's a way to pick up a few for cheap, since Muunilist is still recovering from the war and you're so popular with the population? Reward: access to 'Aborah' vault-spire and Hego Damask's private research-lab... (OR make this a Stewardship action? OR base upgrade?)

Stewardship

[] Cord of Many Strands: the Kaleesh are a warrior people. The Muun are incredibly not. Still, after a devastating battle, it's easy to see why the Muun would have a newfound appreciation for Kalee traditions. Encourage the two systems to use their peoples' talents for mutual benefit: the Kalee to use their frontier mindset to help rebuild (and restore the planet's defenses), while the Muun to use their financial connections and fiscal ingenuity to develop and modernize the Kalee economy. Reward: unlocks 'Kalee Warrior' cap, + income from one or both systems, unlocks economic opportunities on both planets, continues Muunilist recovery
-[] OR rename 'Cord of Three Strands': action requires Ciaran's direct involvement/investment (to provide credits and pay for reconstruction).

[ ] Galactic Bank of the Outer Rim: found a CNS bank/corporation (possibly as 'branch'/member of IGBC) on either Muunilist or on Taris. Hire Muun or Paigun to staff it?

[ ] Return of Galactic Sushi: contact the Ithorians or one of the other renown agriculturalists in the galaxy, and ask them for help restoring the legendary kelp farms of Taris. Reward: income from food exports, increased migration to Taris & CNS, contact with Ithorians and arrange to have them restore agriworlds around CNS Space?

[ ] Exploiting the Eclipse: consolidate former Black Sun assets around Outer & Mid Rim. Reward: gain assets (business investments, mining rights, bases and/or planetary control) of specific systems. Specifically target Ord Mantell (major trade/bank hub near Qiilura) and Af'El (monopoly on durasteel component) -- or would this be an Intrigue action?

Lore

[] Approach a Jedi: the Jedi Council may be skeptical of you and your ambitions, but you know a few Jedi who are skeptical of the Council (Free Action? I'm imagining this either as Ciaran extending an invitation to certain Jedi to participate in other actions/missions, or as the Jedi Council sending 'friends' to keep a closer eye on us.)
-[] Obi-Wan Kenobi: it's just so much fun messing with him and Siri and Satine. The best part is, he still thinks we're just trolling him, even when we're making him rethink and question the Jedi prohibition of attachments....
-[] Anakin Skywalker: you've baited the hook with your mentions of Meetra Surik and Darth Vectivus. Now, can you reel him in?
-[] Ahsoka Tano: Skywalker has a Padawan. Chaos will ensue.

(I proposed this last turn; you said "not this turn" but that you'd think about it some more. Any possibility of making this a thing?)

[ ] Archaeological Exploration: Tatooine. Specifically, "Shiin's Library" in Mos Eisley, that contains the B'omarr Registry (really famous philosophical musings) and the Quilan Pyradex (upgrades users' mind to be able to deal with very complex computations...)

@Dr. Snark, I notice that the 'Briefing the Boss, Pt. 2' omake is categorized as "Not Yet Canon" -- can you let me know what it'd take to become canon? Specifically I'm wondering if it'd be better to wait on exploring Dathomir until we've heard of the Chu'unthor and know what we're looking for...

Learning

[ ] Search for Geneticists: find capable scientists (among the Arkanians, the Lurrians, Kaminoans, etc.) to assist Kal Skirata with fixing the clone commandos' accelerated-aging issue...

[] Ysalamiri Studies: While Myrkr isn't a very interesting planet on its own it is home to a unique species called the Ysalamiri which can negate the Force within a set radius. While you could potentially contain these creatures on La'Sombra, they tend to die if extracted from the Obilo trees they draw nutrients from. Find a way to get them off the planet though...and the applications are obvious. Chance of Success: 60% Cost: 100 Reward: Method of Ysalamiri extraction discovered

@Dr. Snark: you indicated this would become an option this turn... :D However, I also wanted to propose two similar 'studies':

[ ] Senflax Studies - anti-Force neurotoxin: study, learn effects, create effective delivery system... (a critical success might let Ciaran start 'immunizing' herself to effects (like iocane powder in Princess Bride...)
[ ] Taozin Studies - anti-Force predator (negate Force sight/battle precognition): study, learn effects, find carcass or living creature to harvest?

I'd also like to point out the number of different metals & ores we have available to us. Starting with the lightsaber resistant ones:
[ ] Beskar studies: longer history, heavier metal, but 'cheaper' (due to supply & proximity)
[ ] Phrik studies: more recent, much lighter, but more expensive to refine. Described as 'malleable' -- can be mixed/allyed with other things to add other properties to metal...)
[ ] Cortosis studies: energy-conductive (resists blaster fire, causes lightsabers to 'short out' for several seconds to a few minutes), but 'brittle' (ineffective against physical damage). OTOH, also described as 'malleable', which makes me wonder if there's a possible alloy with phrik we could develop?

As for the other metals:

[ ] Hiridiu (comm booster) - Generis -- this isn't (yet) a CNS system, but hiridiu boosts comm signals significantly, and might increase our Information income as we gain access to more info. And/or expand our comms reach if we control the Shadowfeed. (Lots of potential)

[ ] Agrocite (turbolaser booster) - Khorm -- this is basically the idea behind Chewie's bowcaster. It makes small guns have big effects. The metal is mostly used to boost turbolasers, but theoretically it could be applied to boost small-arms blaster fire as well...

[ ] Ionite (energy field neutralizer) - Bandomeer - if we ever need to sneak past an energy field, or blow up something that's shielded, this is our friend. It works well enough in its raw, unprocessed form, but if we could refine and weaponize it...

Bases

Coruscant: safehouse for Kal Skirata's clone commandos...?

Taris: palace complex (Ciaran elected governor of Taris, receives tax money...?)
Taris: economic planning office/small business loan office/invest in refugee businesses
Taris: kelp farms!
Taris: lower-level salvage teams (explore Taris undercity, search for 'Promised Land', gain extra salvage roll, chance of recovering Old Republic tech...)

Kashyyyk: recruitment office for Wookie 'warriors'
Kashyyyk: investment in Wookie businesses (on Kashyyyk, Alaris Prime, Messert and Rakhuuun)
Kashyyyk: defense grid / comm center (coordinate response to Trandoshan slavers...)

<><><><><><><><>

That's all for the moment.

Been reading up on some stuff, and I'm wondering if the Infinite Engine is still around.

It was a fragment of the Star Forge that Revan took and gave to some Ongree followers of his, and it could make a lot of things. It also used to be the size of a fingernail, but grew over time to become significantly larger. According to SWTOR(though how canonical SWTOR is for this quest is up in the air), the Empire got either a sliver of it, or the entire thing, dependent on what the player character chooses during the mission.. so yeah..

Also, the remnants of the Star Forge are largely untouched around Lehon- if we ever find it/can be bothered going there.

This'll be fairly easy to set up, decent sized barracks, massive mess hall (Seriously, these guys love good food and lots of it, best way to their hearts), and a spaceport for slipping them out.

Probably don't need a special spaceport for that. We just use whatever we use to sneak out other Abyss Watcher assets.

This is going to be a Learning action since he was, y'know, deactivated by ion fire.

Hmm...I can make this into an action, sure.

Pretty sure this is already a thing.

[ ] CNS Recruitment: IGBC. Persuade our Muun allies to oust San Hill and his Damask-circle cronies from leadership of the IGBC, and to live up to their promises of 'neutrality' Reward: IGBC member worlds (including Scipio) formally join CNS

Viable, but Scipio isn't going to join just from a recruitment drive. Wonder why that is...

Honestly from here on in CNS recruitment is going to be by region since it's getting harder to find specific planets to join up. But uh, the region Genian is in is certainly viable.

Oooooh...hmmm...you could but odds are they would get leaned on to shut the fuck up and stay in line. Might not really pan out

[ ] Talesan Fry, pt. 1: make contact, uncover CIS spy, purchase code-breaker
[ ] Talesan Fry, pt. 2: persuade him to hack CIS Shadowfeed, take over Outer Rim holonet network
[ ] Talesan Fry, pt. 3: contract with Fry Industries to build Shadowfeed control center/hub on Taris (Stewardship? Base upgrade?)

Already planning on that being a thing.

4: jailbreak 'mad scientist' who designed anti-clone bioweapon (delivery mechanism for retrovirus fix...)

Same with that.

[ ] Damask Holdings: now that you're settled on Muunilist, you can try to trace what happened to Hego Damask's assets after he died. Perhaps there's a way to pick up a few for cheap, since Muunilist is still recovering from the war and you're so popular with the population? -[] OR rename 'Cord of Three Strands': action requires Ciaran's direct involvement/investment (to provide credits and pay for reconstruction).

It'll have to be 'Cord of Three Strands,' the will is there but not the money.

[ ] Galactic Bank of the Outer Rim: found a CNS bank/corporation (possibly as 'branch'/member of IGBC) on either Muunilist or on Taris. Hire Muun or Paigun to staff it?

Legit.

Legit.

-[] Ahsoka Tano: Skywalker has a Padawan. Chaos will ensue.

Hmm...this is going to end up as a Personal action to be sure...we'll see about what the 'cost' in terms of actions is though. It's kind of weird since now those are becoming increasingly important...

Legit.

[ ] Search for Geneticists: find capable scientists (among the Arkanians, the Lurrians, Kaminoans, etc.) to assist Kal Skirata with fixing the clone commandos' accelerated-aging issue...

Ko Sai will be a thing next turn anyway.

[] Ysalamiri Studies: While Myrkr isn't a very interesting planet on its own it is home to a unique species called the Ysalamiri which can negate the Force within a set radius. Find a way to get them off the planet though...and the applications are obvious. Chance of Success: 60% Cost: 100 Reward: Method of Ysalamiri extraction discovered

Can probably set this up now, sure. But for the moment you're going to start with 'figuring out what the damned things even are.'

[ ] Senflax Studies - anti-Force neurotoxin: study, learn effects, create effective delivery system... (a critical success might let Ciaran start 'immunizing' herself to effects (like iocane powder in Princess Bride...)
[ ] Taozin Studies - anti-Force predator (negate Force sight/battle precognition): study, learn effects, find carcass or living creature to harvest?

Hmm...seems legit, but I'll probably massively limit these/make them difficult and expensive to research for obvious reasons.

OTOH, also described as 'malleable', which makes me wonder if there's a possible alloy with phrik we could develop?

Makes sense.

Same, these seem legit.

Coruscant: safehouse for Kal Skirata's clone commandos...?

Taris: palace complex (Ciaran elected governor of Taris, receives tax money...?)
Taris: economic planning office/small business loan office/invest in refugee businesses
Taris: kelp farms!

Kashyyyk: recruitment office for Wookie 'warriors'
Kashyyyk: investment in Wookie businesses (on Kashyyyk, Alaris Prime, Messert and Rakhuuun)
Kashyyyk: defense grid / comm center (coordinate response to Trandoshan slavers...)

Coruscant: Sure. Similar things could be done for Mandalore as well.
Taris: Already planned on those things save for the palace complex. Getting elected will be its own thing.
Kashyyyk: Sure.

How about
[]You need better security why not take a leaf out of Padma's book and get a double? You definitely have the medical tech to make someone look like you. It should make you safer and maybe you can pawn off some of the busy work so you have more time for personal projects.
Reward: gain one extra personal action your double can do in your place.
