Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

-[X] Call your parents: You need to call mom and dad, see how they are doing? Rolled:D100 => 1

Mom and Dad didn't answer, though the receiver just went to a recorder.

Well, anywho.

You are sure they are fine.
...Fuck! I really hope they're fine.

Overall, it seems to be going on well! We have two new movies, Kung Fu Kid seems to be a hit, and we spent times with friends and family. Not to mention how it seems Mike was not hit hard from our response. If we're lucky enough we might even get George to make the movie.

Im guessing that there is an 85% chance gooses parents are greviously injured in a terrorist attack and one might die

Something tells me him and Batman are about to have something in common….
I think Bruce lost his chance to become the real Batman when he refused the offer to join the secret fighting tournament.

And if it's something bad, I'm sure our old buddy Reagan will lend us the aid of some federal intelligence agencies.

I hope I can convince you that we should go with more adaptations of Stephen King's novels, at least the good ones we have the ights for, in order to get more of his trust so that we can adapt the ones he writes in this decade.

So far, we only have the rights for the books and novels up to the year 1980, but from 1981 forwrds he is going to be writing Cujo, The Running Man, The Dark Tower, Christine, It, Pet Sematary, The Tommyknockers, and Thinner among others. All classics that we won't be able to do unless we manage to convince him we can do his books justice in the adaptation.

So far, we've only adapted Carrie, and are just making The Shining. Thus, I think we should do more.

Well that was an overall good turn, I do hope Mike was alright with our decision, I think they had a great Idea.

Children of the Corn apparently first appears in a short story collection from 1978 called Night Shift so we can do that. We can probably get a few good movies from the short stories in Night Shift.

Since everyone is worried.

The city of New York is being an idiot again.

No evil plots except maybe dads enemies wanting him to get knocked Down a peg

That's a relief, I was terrified for a while there that I may have made Bruce an orphan. I looked it up and can't find anything notable in New York at this time other than a big 750,000 people peace rally for nuclear disarmament. So my guess is either riot or they had another major black out. Maybe we can convince them to move to California for retirement, be with the grandkids.

Mike almost seemed to let go of something on his chest, and say something to you, in fact, you almost thought that he was…

But instead, he just remained silent, as if he decided that instead of saying anything, he was going to be saying nothing.

Reward: Mike seems to be okay. You think.

Hmmm...seemed like maybe Mike was frustrated at not getting what he wanted and Bruce being sentimental, but he probably sees our viewpoint and he's satisfied enough that we do like the movie and want to push George to get it approved and produced as soon as possible. At least it worked out well.

It was crowded here in Disneyland. That much was certain, and Joseph and Sarah were very much not enjoying the large amount of people, being overwhelmed by it. Meanwhile, Mary was trying to go onto the Matterhorn, only to be dismayed when she was far to small to ride it on her own.

Poor kids. I guess Joe and Sarah aren't as extroverted or adventurous as Mary and since they probably spend most days at home or with family friends, being in such a big place is intimidating. Meanwhile, Mary is facing the disappointing truth that while she's a Big Girl, she's not big enough to do some fun stuff yet. Well, hopefully they had some fun overall.

By the way, do Bruce and Carrie take the kids out to public much and what do they normally do outside the home?

-[X]A Post Movie Day: Debbie is happy you and Carrie are back, and now she is going to give a brief summary of the Kid's shenanigans. DC: 30 Rolled: D100 => 68

As you prepared to listen, you could only think about several things, and the fear that you were going to once again, miss several key moments in your children's lives.

Except as Debbie reports, it was not the case. "Besides some drawings that Mary drew and sent to ILM, and Wally Calling daily to talk to Mary, there was really nothing to report. Sarah and Joseph were simply… well being rowdy and rambunctious, but not really doing anything crazy."

You sighed and you nodded. "Thank you Debbie."

"Oh don't go thinking about thanking me, those kids are darlings to me." She smiled.

Wait what? They raised hell when they were around you.

Reward: thankfully, nothing insane happened while you were gone. Though they were, little angels to him.

Lol! Of course the kids are little bundles of hyper energy and crazyness with Bruce but absolute angelic sweethearts for Grandma Debbie. Don't worry Bruce, you'll have your revenge in 20-30 years.

How are Joseph and Sarah's personalities shaping up more?

Also to clarify, the Lakers still won the 1982 Finals against the 76ers right?

-[X]Carrie Has a great Idea: Wearing that outfit was going to drive you insane, but than she whispered in your ear and all you can think about is what you want to do tonight. Welp, she wants another gosling, and she'll get it. DC:??? Rolled:D100 + 40 => 140

You honestly didn't know just what had gotten into Carrie.

But you were not complaining.

(Continued in: Carrie has a Great idea)

Looks like the Dice is giving Mary a break and going back to simping for Carrie. Of course she gets a nat 100 when it's a fun night with the bikini. Looking forward to the next Super Gosling.

While the O'Brian family luck has been shitty for awhile, its not that bad.

I had a little family tree update coming for some of the less... fortunate members of the O'Brian family.

Most notably, their ancestors who were in the Royal Irish Dragoons during the Napoleonic war.

Dropping like flies.

Part of me wonders if those with the O'Brian name who had shit luck were mainly due to them saving their lifetime luck so it could be concentrated into Bruce's generation with Carrie gifted some Irish luck, and of course Mary the genius who practically absorbed all the fortune that Ireland missed out on in the 19th century, lol.

Well I wouldn't say that.

Most died to save their friends, family, or suck it to the British and or the French. Or just having terrible luck because they made the wrong choices and chose to be greedy cunts, rather then honest people.

so each generation of bad luck got washed away until it finally reached Joseph and Bruce and his generation, where the Irish Luck decided that its done shitting on this family and let them have their win.

I'm still holding out hope for Discworld animated movies.

Seriously I would love to see it.

Also fun fact that is sad.... Terry Pratchet had his final drafts more or less powdered after he died to prevent people from making something he would not approve out of it.

I'd love for Bruce to be able to recruit Cat's help in order to do those remaining notes justice and possibly give an honest successor author to the guy when the time comes

Movie Pitch: The Autopsy of Jane Doe
I've just recently watched this movie, and frankly...I think it was alright. I mean, the premise seems to work, but this is the kind of movie that could have used a revision or two when it came to the suspense or the scares. Though I will admit, that perhaps most of it is due to the budget or time that they had to make it, so it's not completely on the director's head. It did not bore me to tears, and there were some moments when I did feel something, so it's not all bad.

I will lay all the blame on the guy who played Austin. Seriously, put some effort in it man! You look like a plank of wood! In a movie where you have to sell the heightened emotions he just doesn't seem to show any. The worst part is I know he can do better, since the scene where he had to show sadness at the death of his girlfriend had emotion, but it was just too brief. One of the only moments where I could buy his act.

I've put some changes that I think can help the movie, I feel that they are necessary since the film, while good, still feels somewhat lacking.

Thus, I give you:

Movie Pitch:
The Autopsy of Jane Doe

GENRE: Horror/Mystery/Suspense

SUBGENRE: Thriller/Drama/Crime

FORMAT: Movie

Set Up: While investigating the murder of a family, Sheriff Sheldon and his team are puzzled with the discovery of the body of a stranger buried in the basement that does not fit to the crime scene. He brings the corpse of the beautiful Jane Doe late night to the coroner Tommy Tilden and requests to have the cause of death until the next morning to have an answer to the press. Tommy's son and assistant Austin Tilden is ready to go to the movie theater with his girlfriend Emma, but he decides to stay to help his father in the autopsy. Along the stormy and tragic night, they disclose weird and creepy secrets about Jane Doe.

Director: Tobe Hooper
Composer: Jerry Goldsmith

- Spend more time at the beginning showing the relationship between Austin and Emma. Show they care and how much they mean to each other rather than just saying it.

- Austin's mother, "Ray", is alluded as being death. Though not explaining how, it is a sore point in the relationship between Austin and Tommy.

- The scene where Tommy and Austin are examining a body is replaced with one of Tommy doing so, and then Austin arriving where they talk/ argue about it. Showing Austin knows the trade, but how unwilling he is at staying in it.

- Though Austin is a skilled mortician, there is tension and strain in his relationship with his father; in part due to the death of his mother, but also because Austin does not want to continue the family business, which his father knows and puts them at odds.

- Austin staying to aid Tommy is due to Emma, who wants to help mend the rift between them and get them to talk. Austin agrees, the beginning of the autopsy of the body of "Jane Doe" is thus filled with the tension of horror, but also the tension between both of them, which at times is reduced when working together, but at other rises when the strange happenings begin.

- There is more emotion when the scares happen; they appear to be more like men trying to contain the fear, rather than being stoic and fearless.

- Have more chases and dangerous clashes with the bodies. Show how truly horrific, and dangerous, they are before being put down.

- Emma's accidental death creates a huge impact beyond sorrow. Anger is also mixed in as Austin recriminates his father for everything. Tommy reveals the pain and guilt the he's been carrying over Ray's death (revealing to the audience it was a suicide). How he'd been recriminating himself for not being able to talk to him or let him go when he should. Austin rages and hits the wall as he grieves.

- Tommy is the one suggesting going back and finding what is going on, but he initially suggests the he goes alone. Austin disagrees and goes with him, wanting to be there to finish it all. Signs of their relationship mending are subtly shown.

- The storm is more noticeable, growing in intensity and making more impact during the entire movie.

- Show more emotion in sad moments. They don't have to be melodramatic, but they have to look more real.

- Add some scenes of Sheriff Burke going to the Morgue, but also show how they are hampered by the storm, and other odd happening that can be implied to be the work of the Witch.
Austin Tilden: He is the son of Tommy Tilden, a member of three generations of coroners. Austin, despite his training, is not keen on taking over the family business, which along with a strained relationship due to the death of his mother by suicide, has caused both conflict and strife with his father.

Played By: Michael Biehn
Alternate: Tom Hanks

Tommy Tilden: The coroner in charge of the night they bring "Jane Doe" to his home/Coroner's lab. Tommy carries within him both sadness and guilt over the death of his wife, blaming himself for being so absorbed at work he never noticed the signs of her depression and mental anguish. He loves his son, and wishes to have a better relationship with him.

Played By: Patrick McGoohan
Alternate: Max Von Sydow

Jane Doe: A mysterious body that was found in a crime scene and brought to Tommy to find out what the cause of death is. In reality, it's the body of a young woman who was killed in the Salem's Witch Trials, and whose entire body was subjected to a ritual that instead of "suppressing" a witch, instead created one. She is still alive, full of rage and anger.

Played By: Shelley Duvall
Alternate: Madeleine Stowe
Emma Roberts: She is Austin's girlfriend, and the one who aids in trying to mend the relationship between father and son. She is shown to be both kind but adventurous, willing to give up their date night so that Austin may reconnects with his dad.

Played By: Carole Bouquet
Alternate: Olivia Hussey

Sheriff Sheldon Burke: The Sheriff of Hardin Country in Virginia. He found the body of "Jane Doe" in a crime scene and brought it to Tommy to find why she died. After getting a call from Tommy, he leads a squad to the house, but arrives too late due to the storm, and rare "happenings".

Played By: Paul Gleason
Alternate: Ron Dean
Lieutenant Wade: An officer working under the Sheriff, he is somewhat cynical about what may have happened in crime scenes.

Played By: Bob Saget

Trooper Cole: An officer who drives the vehicle carrying "Jane Doe" both to the coroner's office, and away from it at the end.

Played By: Michael Winslow

A.N.: There's not many characters in the film, and I feel it works well like that. This is another movie which I hope we can make in the 80s, though it can also work just as well in the 90s. Also, I don't see it as being that big of a production as Horror does tend to work well enough with small budgets, however, some good special effects can only enhance the experience.
