Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

So we cut to say late 80s, Flynn is doing great as head of Encom and the company is a success in both video games and home computers. However, Flynn for all of his skill and the talent at Encom is just one fish in a large and increasingly crowded pond. The Digital age has begun with many tech companies rising overnight, and a few achieving mega corp status thanks to their market presence and ties to global governments. At the same time, something new and revolutionary called the "Internet" has spread across the world with everyone and their computers being able to connect with each other across a world wide web.

To Flynn's shocking discovery, the digital world he had an adventure in and has returned many times since was not just a creation of the Encom Mainframe, rather it was a true parallel dimension to our reality that resides in all computers, and with the creation of the Internet, billions of mainframes are connecting together to create a digital multiverse.

Unfortunately for Flynn, Pandora's Digital Box was opened with the Internet and other people and companies are aware of a digiverse so to speak and have recreated the Encom technology to insert themselves in there. Encom's rival megacorp then enters as a main villain where they create a digital empire with the intention of assimilating other programs and mainframes to their control so they can dominate the Internet and thus rule humanity. Thus, Flynn has to team up with Tron again to save both worlds and the end of the movie can be the jumping off point to the rest of the franchise where the mega corp is defeated but now the whole world knows of the digiverse and the existence of programs, thus beginning a Cyberpunk era and launching the potential for so many stories in the setting.

Other ideas are welcome, but I think this could work well to turning Tron into a sort of sandbox franchise where all kinds of stories can be done instead of "Defeat Big Bad Program, Save Mainframe." Would love to do a Tron anime, but I think any Tron property needs to be in 3D.
It sounds like a good idea. Though I would also hope that perhaps we can add another element. Personally, I liked the character of Quorra from Legacy, but this time around we could add her as a leader or member of a third faction? Like, in the sequel we have the group that is trying to take over the Digital World (Which evokes Master Control), and then we have Flynt and Tron, who once more bring the fight to protect the Mainframe and all the innocent programs. Now, I think it would be interesting if Quorra is made part of a group of independent programs whose aim is simple; No more users in their world. Users, in one way or another, have brought harm to their world, so what they aim to do is to destroy the link between both worlds in order to keep them apart.

The main issue is that by doing so, the nascent internet, and all the computer programs that now make the lives of nearly everyone in the Human World easier (and fun) would cease to work there. Which would bring a near end to civilization as it currently exists; what with the expansion of the computer and their use in nearly every government, corporation, home, etc.

Not to mention what could happen as the nations of the world begin thinking that this might be an enemy attack; missiles would fly and nuclear war could be declared between both blocks since the Cold War is still in effect.

So now, instead of a good vs bad narrative, we add a little grey in as well. In the end, the group led by Quorra (let's call them the Aberrants for now) do have good arguments for their desire to not be manipulated nor abused by the Users. And despite the goodwill and kindness of some, even their very existance causes many of the programs to venerate them like gods. It takes a nuanced approach to the existance of the programs and their current co--existance with the Users, and brings an even grreater conflict to be resolved for the movie as well.

Pretty neat idea, but I'm unsure if we could include that all within the second movie without the story being split into two and things being a bit bloated. Unless we're willing to dump a boatload into the budget, we also have to be considerate of the fact that Tron's CGI in a one and a half hour movie was a herculean feat in and of itself. Though if a way can be found to include it, maybe we can do a neat resistance thing.

Maybe it would work if we have the plotline of Quorra and the Aberrants be part of the third movie where the events of the second as well as the bad experiences many programs have with users after the revelation of the Digiverse and the increasing pollution of the verse with users leads to the rise of Quorra and Aberrants with their plan to sever the worlds. Thus first movie is dangers of machine, second is dangers of man, and third is the struggle to create a synthesis of man and machine.

@Magoose how do the Soviets feel about us now because we are like the direct cause of their eventual downfall like many things that had communist backlash was because something that was us (the Olympics with that one punch, the Vietnam refugees migration, the Romanian Soviet war due to one of our movies that inspired the citizens to rebel leading to the Soviets bio bombing them and becoming a pariah state "temporary", and China trying to assassinate us leading them to be a actual pariah state) it going to make them crazy

Star Wars Preproduction Extravaganza
Star Wars Preproduction Extravaganza:

To say nothing about the morning after New Year, you were forced to remain entirely focused on something that was not your family.

After, George said that, in his words, Star Wars stuff paid the bills, so that meant he got some priority. Even with Mike planning his action plan that would destroy Universal.

After all, it was his name on the building even though you were quick to remind him that you didn't like naming things after yourself.

Though honestly, you think you were due something like that. Maybe later.

But then you saw… the bikini, and everything started going red.

You looked at the men who were at the table. And you were surprised that they were not unhappy to see you because they knew of your legendary temper. Lawrence was thankfully for him, gone because your wrath was going to make whatever was going to happen pale at the end of it.

"Bruce, we can explain everything." Dave said before George parroted it.

The metal table was bending in your hands. "We'll see about that George."

"Please for the love of God Bruce, look at some of the storyboards before-"

"What the fuck is wrong with you George! Was the no underwear in space thing not enough? I remember that shit!" There was silence, as both men realized the horror of that situation.

"But-" George stammered on.

"No, it's bad enough that our kids think it's silly that we act on movies and TV, but this is- are you trying to get my kids to ask questions they are not old enough to ask?!"

"This is about your kids and not about the fact we want to put Carrie into a bikini?" George asked.

"YES! I frankly don't give a damn, let Carrie decide about that, but seriously, Star Wars has mostly become something I see taking my family to. I want to take my family too every time it's in theaters. But come on!"

Dave then whispered. "Oh thank god, I thought he would be worried about the other stuff we planned, this we can work with."

George almost facepalmed. "What else can there possibly be!?"
-------------------------------------------------------------------

You facepalmed. "I'm not going to dignify a response. Again? What happened to originality?"

George smiled. "At least it isn't bigger, and we can reuse some sets."
-----------------------------------------------------------

Do you put your foot down on the Leia… Slave Bikini?
[]Yes
[]No
[]Get Carrie in Here and have her decide.
-----------------------------------------------------------

George is planning a very large space battle for the battle of the Death Star… You think it's too much.
[]Go with George's Idea: Really put the War into Star Wars
[]Go Bigger: Why the hell should we settle for second best, we have ILM here, George, really go all out here.
[]Make it far more intimate: Make the space battle far more condensed and character-focused, like sticking to one ship, like the Falcon.

AN: enjoy and vote in plan format please.

I like the idea of the Ewoks using stolen/repurposed Imperial tech to make it less embarrassing that the Empire can't beat them. In the OTL movie they were beaten by teddy bears with Flintstones tech.

I also second the idea of there being Wookiees there. The two species see themselves as kindred spirits. Maybe the Wookiees were brought as labourers when the Imperials came.

Though we'd want to keep the focus on the ewoks. Those adorafying creatures that while cute, are the last species you want to meet without some form of ace in the whole like C3PO being close enough in appearance to a god that the mistaken for a god trope happens.

If were going to do that we should keep it combined with the indigenous weapons. One ewok with a spear one with a arrow one with a stolen blaster. Something like that.

Personally I think putting Wookies and ewoks there would make things a bit crowded.

I think that we should expand on why they are so capable of defeating Imperial soldiers, like showing all the hostile creatures that lore says exist on the moon so people in the future don't ask why they are so capable
Maybe have a Gorax skull prominently in the village or the Ewoks releasing tamed Boar Wolves on the empire.

I'm just saying that it'd be more reasonable than an interstellar empire being defeated by an enemy still in the Stone Age.
It is more than possible, ESPECIALLY given that being a sci-fy setting, they might have access to some super-material that is the scify equivalent to our IRL obsidian. It just means we need to be a bit more inventive in showing what is done.
John began his War film with ten million and a promise not fuck everything up and ruin everything in San Francisco.

But then he did something incredibly stupid. He took a camera, a crew, and anyone dumb enough to follow him to get real footage.

John… John.

Reward: While also creating Red Dawn, John has gone Rouge with a guilty conscience, and has begun filming documentary films of the Romanian Revolution, learning from the people on the ground of what they are doing…

Um, John is safe, and will be back soon in a month or two to get production going, but… Goodness gracious, he's going for accuracy.
And we got some people with personal experience with the most recent asymmetric warfare conflict to possibly help.

There's also a surprising amount of muscles under all that adorableness. Maybe have a short scene where a ewok chops wood or splits a stolen imperial helmet with a stone tomahawk or something.

agree, the ewoks need something whit a bit more oomph. like, prepare the terrain or use creatures to burry the machines in holes, or use the trees (high ground) to pelt the troopers whit blaster fire, basically make this their vietnam.
they are fighting an empire, let them fight like an actually guerrilla instead of pulling home alone tricks.

It's been a while since I've seen ROTJ but didn't they do most of that? I vaguely remember a pit trap, pre-prepared catapults and log trap. If that's not using the terrain i don't know what is.

Alright, for the Gold Bikini I say we let Carrie decide. In the end, it's her role and I don't think the scene works without it, so better we learn of her preference now rather than later.

For the final battle, I think it would be good, and we did promise when we began that we would ramp them up. I would like to sugges however that perhaps we can make it so that the Space Battle does not happen only in the confrontation with the Emperor and the Death Star, but instead it's part of a coordinated attack on different fronts and planets. It would also justify why in the Special Editions there are so many different shots of planets celebrating the downfall of the Empire; it would instead be the celebration of defeating and liberating the planets they had just fought for.

As for what we should work for; I think we should work on where the final battle and confrontation would take place; personally, I think having the Death Star be on a no-name planet with moons might work for the past Star Wars, but this is the new Star Warsm, where we want to go bigger and greater.

So, hear me out here...Coruscant.

We have the final battle in the Empire's Capital, which instead of being an Ecumenopolis, it's a lava planet, with volcanos, where the Emperor has set his court. We can then have Luke and Vader fight with the lava and volcanos as background, perhaps even facing each other amongst lava pits that dot the palace.

And instead of one Death Star, let's have two!!

...Yes, i like the Henson Thread's version of RotJ.

Don't judge me!
