Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

So with how well things are going for Jimmy Carter, think he will get a other term?
Perhaps if hell freezes over. He's still really unpopular and blamed for many crisis' in the USA from Iran to recession and a humitarian crisis on the mainland due to Cuba and his mishandeling of the situation. One feel good speech about NASA will not undo a lot of resentment. What is even worse is that he's going against the battering ram know as Reagan. So he's pretty much toast.

Bruce put cameras on planes right? How did people/the industry react to that?
George was the one who put cameras on planes and everyone lost their fucking minds

Don't forget that the Goose is delivering a key note speech for the Republican Party…

So… all of America is going to be tuned in to see what Bruce will force the republicans to do.

I'm assuming they shit themselves the first time when they realized that it wasn't done with models, the second time when it was revealed that George had it done with a digital camera, and then Universal and Kodak shit themselves a third time when they realized that he's about to release a commercially viable digital camera.

...Must...Contain...Urge..To MEME!

But seriously, no, he does not get another term ebcause he decided all of a sudden to revive the NASA program. If anything, I can see Reagan co opting it as part of his own campaign as well. If anything, I would say many would either see it as blind optimism, or trying to play to the crowd now that it seems he going to lose in all 50 states.

Which reminds me, they're also likely to expand military and law enforcement operations to account for the Lunar Colonies and while I'm all for expanding US Space Command into another branch of the US Military, but for the love of God and Country we need to ensure that Lucasfilms designs their uniforms; no offence to the current Space Force, but that is not the way to unveil a prototype uniform.

For Reagan's sake, it wasn't even tailored properly! :V

That's from a press conference roughly two years ago-
Article:
Some people call them futuristic; others say they're a new take on the classic double-breasted tunic. But it seems everyone has a reaction to the new Space Force uniforms that the chief of space operations, Gen. John Raymond, unveiled at a conference this week. To many, the uniforms resemble those worn by officers in the sci-fi TV series Battlestar Galactica from the 2000s. Similar design elements include the jacket's high collar and its asymmetrical, angled row of buttons.

-and, supposedly, they're meant to modeled after old French Admirality Uniforms worn during the Napoleonic era.

As for who let that travesty occur, it's likely that those prototypes arrived the day of the event and some junior officer got blamed for not "informing the general in time" that they weren't ready [best guess based off the reaction the female officer is giving].

Also, for the love of Corp and Country do not question their insigna either-
-or that their servicemen are called "Guardians".

[EDIT: Just looked it up, they've since been approved and look much better when actually tailored:]

You know one great thing about us buying out Marvel Comics is that we handwaved away the dogshit Dark Empire comics since they were a Dark Horse creation while here all Star Wars comics are gonna be Marvel comics. Don't know how radical Stan would have a take on the EU or what he wants for post-ROTJ comics, but hopefully it won't be a Palpatine clone crisis and we can get the comics to start after the Thrawn trilogy.

Also in regards to Talsorian games, are they gonna be the ones to make the Star Wars RPGs instead of West End Games and will it be soon? If Cyberpunk 2013 is immensely successful, I can't see why George wouldn't want a Star Wars RPG and development of the RPGs is actually super important because they were the foundation of most of the initial lore for the first half of Bantam's Star Wars EU.

Also would be pretty cool if we got a Gundam RPG.

Also one amazing fact about the Artemis program is that it's gonna make the Soviets even more broke because now they're gonna have to resurrect their lunar program, and they're doing this while recovering from Romania and being hated by the rest of the world, so super shit Great Depression Soviet economy is on the rise.

...I'm assuming they're an option in the next vote, Magoose? *Fingers Crossed*

I'd say they don't look ready. They actually look more like costumes that one would wear to cosplay as Enterprise Officers than anything else. As for the symbols...how the heck did they got away with it without paying anything to the Roddenberry state, or at least being sued by it! This entire things just seems a sham and a smokescreen!

Then again, it's the Biden administration, so what was I hoping for? Better learn to temper my expectations.

Damn, that's a huge improvement. They actually look presentable!

If we get Timothy Zahn we can get Heir to the Empire as well!

That is unless they decide to just denigrate it as just "Capitalist Waste" and begin a campaign to make it seem like it's not even worth their notice. it will not work in the rest of the world, but as someone mentioned before, they have a very good Propaganda machine for within their borders.

The Strategic Defense Initiative...the Star Wars Program... it can become a reality this time around!!!
Oh the Star Wars program perhaps the biggest boondoggle in the history of the United States. There was so much wrong with that program that one could write an entire book about it. First things first that program would never ever work, its only supporters were politician who had a loose grip on the exact science behind it and had never scientific support. In fact one group who was tasked to reasearch how they're going to build it and how it would function faced fundamental problem after fundamental problem (like where is the heat going to go?) that it concluded that it can't be done but was forced to continue to fruitlessly solve it untill the program was stopped. It was more a political move rather than a true scientific project. Even if the program was a smashing succes against all odds and all problems solved then it would still not provide total safety and would at max stop 90% of all nukes which is 10% too little if you consider the below.

Secondly it would alter MAD in a really bad way. In fact OTL saw the best possible outcome where the USSR rolled it's eyes at the program and believed that it was a waste of money (which it was) or a trick from the US and even talked with Reagan to lower nuke production of the US in return for the USSR tolerating the program and the soviets even used it as an oppertunity to sow division in Europe because it would not be protected by the program and could be draged into a nuclear war against its consent. But if the opposing force believed that the USA could pull it off then tension will rise spectacularly as the enemy now has a ticking timer where the USA could nuke the enemy but not the otherway around so it incentivize to attack NOW rather then later because then it would be less effective.

I'm a bit iffy on the exact details because it was a while a go when I read about it but the broad strokes are true also sorry for any spelling mistakes.

With our share, do we have enough money to do the acts of charity that were mentioned some time ago?
Rebuild Romania, resolve the Cuban refugee crisis, save the Irish economy, help the native American population?

On the top of that do you think Star Wars is good enough for us to receive this from the government?:National Medal of Arts

It really was, and given there's been a lack of response from them, I'm assuming they either gave their blessing [on account of Roddenberry's service in the Air Force], or settled out of court.
Damn, that's a huge improvement. They actually look presentable!
Absolutely agree that it looks so much better, even with the new stripe they added to the pants.

But if you're curious, here's the most recent and up to date information regarding their Uniform Standards.

Well...I'm gunning for the Emerald Campus, which would help aid the Irish economy, and I think investing capital into their soft drink company, Cappy, could be worthwhile

Not only that, but I'm wondering if Japan won't gift us something, I'm really hoping for an Akita Inu.

Want to call her Sakura, for our movie (that Mifune and Kurosawa will be working on) and the cherry blossoms.

Then again, it's the Biden administration, so what was I hoping for? Better learn to temper my expectations.
Space Force was done under the Trump Administration actually, although I'm not certain how much can be attributed to the Trump Administration vs the Biden Administration.
Damn, that's a huge improvement. They actually look presentable!
Honestly, I think they still look kind of dumb. They look like hotel bellhops more than part of a contemporary or "futuristic" military.

Speaking of all this though, we should probably start outlining a very basic idea of what we want to go over for the RNC and potentially how we want to shape our currently unofficial ideological faction within the Republican Party. The issue of drugs is an obvious one as something that we've talked about for a long time in the thread and something that Bruce and Carrie both despise and have very poor experiences with. Going hand in hand with drugs is the issue of crime and law enforcement, which is another obvious one and one that speaks to Bruce's experiences in New York City during the 70s, as well as his other experiences with various criminal acts in his life and being a general conservative stance. I think we can all agree that we want to temper this attitude, however, and not create an OTL War on Drugs scenario. There's obviously also going to be the matter of government intervention and interference, both due to recent events with Bruce, as well as his alignment with Reagan. Veterans and the military is something we should probably address in some manner as well, given our massive support base amongst them. Communism is an easy slam dunk, and the last one that immediately jumps to mind is the matter of economics/government assistance. Personally, I think that while we stick to general liberal economic principals, as would be fitting for someone in Bruce's position as well as his ideological position, I think we should adopt a more "communitarian" approach in general when it comes to our brand of conservatism. I'm envisioning something akin to the Solidarity Party in the US, Christian Democratic parties in Europe, or something akin to Blue Labour(Labor with a u🤮) in the UK, though ultimately more conservative. Those are just a couple things that I think we should try to talk about, but I'm certain there's much more to be said. Hopefully, this will be enough to spark some CIVIL conversation in the thread about how we're going to approach the RNC as well as the Faithful Coalition/California Club.

Which is why I amended that part of the comment, since I wasn't sure how much of the current Space Force (God, I hate that fucking name. Makes me think of Buzz Lightyear) can be attributed to the Trump Administration vs the Biden Administration.
Space Force sounds more like a bad '80s hairmental band than anything to do with Buzz Lightyear, you're thinking of Space Command...which itself was a riff on the already and actual US SPACECOM [1985], though it honestly doesn't matter. The entire point of it is a PR move that's taken way too long to actually figure out, but that's enough about that.

In the meantime, I just want to know if we can't convince Congress if we can't have a crack at making military uniforms better overall (use it as some form of tax deduction), and ensuring that travesty with the prototypes doesn't happen in this timeline.
