Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

He that big of a fan?
There are three constants in LA Laker Lore in the Modern Era (in my opinion)

Jack Nicholsen attends as many games as he can.
Their front office finds those rare talents in the draft that are always backed up by great Bigs (Magic and Kareem, Kobe And Shac, Even AD and Lebron, though this last one is entirely from trades and free agency)
Boston Fans getting salty as fuck whenever they are beaten at the Lakers Home Floor. :V

[X]A New Toy Company: Thanks to your new contacts in Japan, Carrie has founded a new Toy Company, called "Sunset Toys" a sister company of Sunrise Studios, meant to create and manufacture toys for Sunrise's anime merchendising, and potentially more star wars toys once the Contracts with Kenner runs out at the end of the third Star Wars Movie.

Will Reagan's Star Wars plan still be a thing? Also Challenger is coming up. Any way to prevent that going kablooey?

Movie Pitch: Martian Manhunter
Alright then. For this one I thought we could go for a more Crime and Mystery focused story, perhaps with some horror and thriller as well. I think the Martian Manhunter lends itself very well to it; an alien from another world who, unlike Superman, can assume any shape that he can think off, his original form is terrifying, can read your mind, and is stronger than you. If he had not chosen to be a hero then it might have become a great villain, and the most terrifying one at that (Heck, they did that during one of the comics runs before Identity Crisis and the entire world had to be saved by Plastic Man... No fucking kidding!).

I've taken some characters from DC that have nothing do with him as well and added them to create a story that I think holds itself up. Steel, Emil Hamilton, Cadmus...I think they all work well enough, plus I do want to see what Steel can make without the inspiration for Superman in it. The horror element also lends itself to Cadmus and their experiments, which if this movie is released after 1985 (which I think it will) also allows us to reference both the Pre-Crisis and Post-Crisis continuity.

Thus, I give you:

Movie Pitch:
Martian Manhunter

GENRE: Mystery/Crime/Thriller

SUBGENRE: Suspence/Horror/Science Fiction

FORMAT: Movie

Set Up: Based on the DC Comics character created by writer Joseph Samachson and artist Joe Certa. J'onn J'onzz, a Martian law enforcement officer stranded on Earth, tries to live his life and understand human mores by passing himself as a police officer in the city of Denver, Colorado. While researching a string of kidnappings/homicides, he stumbles upon a conspiracy that will lead him into the darkest aspects of human natures, all the while he's being hunted and suspected by CIA Agent, King Faraday.

Director: John Carpenter
Composer: Ennio Morricone

John Jones is a Middleton Police Department Detective, who goes after crime with the help of his partner, Diane Meade. Though both sides are friendly enough, John always keeps her apart in fear that she may discover his secret. During a raid into a drug gang we see John's abilities to pass through matter and read minds, as he sus them to get the drop on most of the criminals, while also making sure no one sees him do it.

When returning home, he turns back into his real Martian form, and sees old movies from the Golden Age of cinema, shapeshifting between the actors and imitating them, all in order to improve his skills and try not to stick out that much. John is thus portrayed as a loner, someone that wants to have a connection, but is afraid that others may know the truth. During his usual walks outside he skims the minds of people, and seeing the darkness in humanity he feels he cannot ever trust them completely.

As the movie goes, John gets involved in a string of kidnappings and homicides, which he thinks are connected in some way, while others feel he's overthinking it. He meets with both John henry Irons, learning more about what's going on, and as he goes deeper he finds clues that may point to James Harper, the bodyguard of Director Westfield of the "Cadmus Group" an International Conglomerate that was founded by 4 childhood friends, and now has their fingers in every aspect of society; from electro domestics, to technology, entertainment, etc.

John feels he's onto something, which is aided by a tipoff from an informant; a scientist by the name of John Henry Irons, who claims he has evidence, but that this is big, and they may be trying to follow them. John tries to read his mind, but is surprised when he can't. The mystery gets deeper as CIA Agent, King Faraday, comes into the city with his own investigation, taking an unusual interest in John.

Things get even worse as the mystery gets even deeper as signs of the original founders of Cadmus controlling things behind Director Westfield are found, J'onn starts noticing his Mind Reading ability is being disrupted, and while all signs point to James Harper, there also seems to be something behind him as before he lost the ability to read minds, he was able to get the impression that he knew nothing about it. King Faraday talks to those who know John, forming a profile of a workaholic loner, but not a bad man. Diane seems to support him the most, as she respects his skill, But the other co-workers chime in with weird aspects they've noticed about him.

Meanwhile, Director Westfield is seen giving a report to the original founders of Cadmus, mentioning an investigation by John Jones. He's quickly disposed off because of his failure (killed), as the members (all hidden by shadows) call upon one of their scientists; Emil Hamilton, and ask him about the project. Hamilton seems exited and tells them of their new "Breeding" conditions, the "Guinea Pigs" and the many ways they can optimize production. He also mentions that there's been an uptick in "Failures" who managed to escape, and others that ended as "Hounds" before being told to keep up production. Once they're alone, they begin discussing the new threat, how they're too close to their objective, and how they can just send their "Guardian and his Hounds" to take care of it. Once it's all agreed, they summon the "Guardian"; James Harper.

John's investigation leads him to a meteor shower which happened decades ago, and they happened to land near the homes of the original founders of Cadmus; Tom Tompkins, Sam Wesley, Gabriel Castle and John Wells. Looking at old pictures and old reports, John starts noticing a pattern that has existed for longer than he expected now. Arriving at home, he finds King Faraday there, waiting for him. After a few moments of banter where Faraday mentions all that he's found about John, there's a moment of silence, and both sides fight in the apartment. John seems to get the upper hand, until Faraday turns on the kitchen and uses fire, damaging John severely and weakening him.

The fight resumes on more even grounds when there's a sudden high sound, and monstruous creatures break into the home, their claws and teeth's trying to kill both Faraday and John. both try to fight, but soon are overwhelmed, and try to flee. Faraday is nearly caught, but John moves to help him and both manage to escape by creating a distraction in the form of an explosion using the kitchen. On the outside, a cloaked figure, the Guardian, looks at the destroyed home, giving a report to his superiors through the radio.

John and King Faraday are alone, and wounded. Faraday asks why he saved him, John replies that though he can no longer read minds, he still learned about human emotions, and how to read them. All the while Faraday accused him in his home, he was doing so because he truly felt he had been killing people, not because of some agenda or a desire to look for a scapegoat; Faraday truly wanted to help, and John could never fault him for that.

Both sides agree to work together for now, but soon they have to go on the run as they are put as scapegoats for all the murders. Cadmus influence extending far beyond what they thought. The commissioner seems to be on their payroll, but Diana does not believe it's true. She is attacked by the same monsters that went after John and Faraday, but is saved by the actions of John henry Irons, who asks for her help. John was his contact, but with him gone, he needs someone that can help him expose Cadmus. She agrees and he leads her to take evidence, to the Cadmus underground lab.

John and Faraday combine their research, and narrow their search to an underground facility where Cadmus is making all kinds of experiments on clones, advanced technology, mutation, etc. They find many of the kidnapped victims as well, but they are confronted by Emil Hamilton, the lead researched or Cadmus, who monologues about his creations, the new age and advances this will all bring, etc. Faraday's had enough and tries to shoot him, but the Guardian once more makes his appearance. John aces the Guardian, recognizing him as James Harper. Faraday claims it's impossible; James Harper is dead; he found the research that he died in the Meteor Shower all those decades ago.

John Henry Irons and Diane move through the Cadmus lab, avoiding the patrols, then chaos erupts as the alarms warns of intruders, both thinking it's them, but soon finding there are others, both learning that it's John and Faraday. They reach Irons' lab and download the files, in the meantime, Irons begins powering up something he's been preparing to use, and since Diana has the info, he can now finally make sure the entire place burns to the ground.

He reveals a Steel Suit.

The fight against Guardian turns for the worse as Emil calls on the "Hounds", John is using his superstrength, but James has the same. He cannot shapeshift as much as he wants because he's keeping Faraday from the enemies, and his mind reading powers are still on the fritz. Irons then bursts into the scene, using his new Steel suit, helping to take all the hounds down as he grabs Hamilton. John and Faraday manage to wound James, only to find him regeneration, and the inside of his body being composed of tentacles and biomatter unseen on Earth. Faraday shoots him again and again, eventually killing him with the aid of John.

Irons, John and Faraday catch up on what's going on, taking Hamilton with them as he raves at them. They find the victims and release them into Diane's custody. She leads them to safety as the trio (including Hamilton) move deeper into the lab, trying to find more answers. They find the cloning tanks, but they're making things that are less human, or at least partially, with the more ferals being sent to join the Hounds. There, they are met by the founders of Cadmus, or at least what they seem. John can now see that they are the main reason why he can't use his Mind Reading powers.

They reveal themselves to be Aliens; the Meteor Shower all those decades ago brought them to Earth, and at first they tried trusting humanity, but the kids they put their trust in abuse said trust, using their knowledge and powers for their own greed. They possess telekinetic and mind reading powers, and they could see in their minds how they would exploit them even more. So, they killed them and took their identities. Creating Cadmus to create what they needed to get home, cloning the "Guardian" in the shape of the kids caretaker to do the same. But after so many years, they realized that they could never achieve their goals if humanity still existed. They would find a way to go after them sooner or later, their greed and pettiness never letting them go. So, their new plan, to either kill off, or enslave humanity with their new breed of "DNAliens".

The fight begins with the DNAliens killing Hamilton, John and Irons facing the horde. While John and Irons try and distract them, Faraday moves to either sabotage the Cloning tanks or taking down the leaders. The fight is close, John being hurt when fire is involved and nearly dying save for the quick intervention of Faraday who manages to move him far enough as Iron's overloads his suit and sends it on a Kamikaze route before ditching it, causing an overload and destruction of the entire facility, the three survivors escaping just in time, seeing the entire place burn from the outside as the sirens of the firemen are heard.

John asks Faraday if he'll bring him in, Faraday says no. He was sent to catch a monster, and he doesn't see one here. Both sides shake hands as they split. Irons opens a Car Shop, where we see him working on a new version of the Steel Suit. The Commissioner was ousted from his position thanks to Diane's evidence. She is promoted and welcomes John back into the force. All goes back to normal, as a new case is put in his desk.

Post Credit Scene: Irons is awoken as he sees a bright light in the middle of his shop, and a man being thrown out of some portal. He begins rambling at him about needing to run...It's coming!
J'onn J'onzz/John Jones: He is the Martian Manhunter, a law enforcement officer from Mars who became a police detective and superhero after becoming marooned on Earth. J'onn has a somewhat cold and stoic demeanor, and very restricted emotional expressions. Despite his cold exterior, J'onn is a kind being. He has a subtle sense of humor, an affinity for the chocolate cookie sandwiches Chocos, and a love for movies from the Golden Age of Cinema. He has spent years living among humans and investigating the whole scope of human life. He considers the human race untrustworthy, but can recognize that it has kindness and nobility as well, growing fond of many of them.

Played by: Laurence Fishburne
Alternate: Danny Glover

King Faraday: He is a top spy working for a number of government organizations, including the Central Bureau of Investigation. A man who's seen the darkness and the depths that human nature can descend to, and his behavior reflect it. Brusque, accusing, and with little to no apologies in his behavior. Faraday always goes in assuming the worst of every situation, and never finding himself disappointed. J'onn reveals later on that despite what his behavior may suggest, what motivates Faraday is hope, the desire and hope for someday things to get better, to actually help people and bringing the criminals to justice.

Played By: Jeff Goldblum
Alternate: Mark Harmon

Dr. John Henry Irons II: He is a genius engineer working for Cadmus who, when he found out the truth about the Company, tried to have it exposed, only to find himself hounded by the measure taken against those who try to oppose it. John Henry is a man who believes in Justice and Peace. Believing his inventions where furthering the safety of the world, he's crushed when he discovers much of it being used to kill or capture more victims for experimentation. He creates the "Steel Suit" in order to finally put an end to the entirety of Cadmus, and find absolution for how he unwittingly contributed.

Played by: Carl Weathers
Alternate: Bill Duke

James "Jim" Harper/Guardian: He's a former police officer and guardian of the kids who would go on to become the founders of Cadmus. Dying when the Meteor Shower hit their homeplace, he was then cloned and given the moniker of "Guardian" by the DNAliens who had taken the form and place of his former wards, obeying their every command, unaware of how he had been modified, or the horrendous orders he was now committing. The Guardian has superstrength, high regeneration, and an inability to feel pain. His insides are biologically impossible to exist in a human, which clearly denote his inhuman experimentation.

Played By: Kevin Costner
Alternate: Michael Biehn
Diane Meade: She is the daughter of a former police officer who entered the force after being inspired by him. She's John Jones partner and friend, someone who goes out to bat for him when King Faraday starts his investigation on him. She's eventually contacted by Dr. Irons and gets the evidence on Cadmus (as well as the surviving victims) to finally bring it under.

Played By: Sharon Stone
Alternate: Madeleine Stowe

Commissioner Stone: He is the Commissioner of the Middleton Police Department. A man who seems to be tough but fair, but in reality he's been bought by Cadmus to keep his officers on a leash or send them on wild goose chases while Cadmus do as they want. When John gets to close to the truth, he does not think twice before throwing him under the bus, and putting warrants for his arrest.

Played By: Albert Finney
Alternate: Ronald Lacey

Professor Emil Hamilton: He is a genius scientist who has few if any moral scruples or morals, willing to do anything or everything in order to continue his research and show his brilliance to the world. Hamilton has no friends, considering them "Simpletons" and decries anyone who even tries to get close to his own projects, believing them to be trying to "steal" from him.

Played By: Robert Downey Sr.
Alternate: Martin Landau

Director Paul Westfield: He is an executive director of Cadmus. He is ruthlessly unethical and constantly abuses his position of power with little regard for human life. Even going so far as to threaten John's life if he continues with his investigation. He is killed by the Founders of Cadmus when he brings them news of the newest threat to the company.

Played By: Kirk Douglas
Alternate: Edward Woodward
Tom "Tommy" Tompkins/Adam: The once leader of the Group, and the face of Cadmus when it comes to marketing. Revealed later on to be "Adam", the leader of the DNAliens, who's mental abilities allow the rest to be hidden from the Martian Manhunter's own. His telekinetic abilities are stronger than others.

Played By: Jeremy Irons
Alternate: Nick Nolte

Sam "Big Words" Wesley/Alex: A nerdy looking man who is more comfortable when dealing with technology and speaking science than being in the limelight. In reality, the DNAlien designated as "Alex", his disdain for humanity and belittling of their technology brings about his doom when he underestimated Steel's capabilities.

Played By: David Warner
Alternate: Steve Martin

Gabriel "Gabby" Castle/Angry Charlie: A loquacious man, Head of marketing and the one person that could sell ice to eskimos. In reality, the DNAlien with the designation "Angry Charlie" who's utter hatred of humanity can barely be sated, save for killing them when no one is looking. The first one to be killed at King Faraday's hands.

Played By: Denzel Washington
Alternate: Billy Dee Williams

John "Scrapper" Wells/Gene-Gnome: A tough and burly looking guy, who begins and ends every conversation with a confrontation. In reality, the DNAlien designated as "Gene-Gnome". Though the smallest, he's also the strongest, and the one who can match the Martian Manhunter, along with "Adam", when it comes to a fight.

Played By: James Remar
Alternate: James Caan

A.N.: Well, we have our Justice League, now comes the main enemy, which I think will be amazing on its own. It's getting harder and harder to put in the actors and make sure they haven't appeared in any other of the DCU films, so I'm not looking forward to the next movies. Well, I'm feeling like working on an Anime TV show version of Castlevania (only 8 episodes though) but I'm not sure if I should go for it now, or wait until the videogame is released. What do you think?

Also Challenger is coming up. Any way to prevent that going kablooey?
... I really don't know?
The only answer history has given us is that they need better quality control and that someone needs to remind them that the engineering department needs to follow the budget, 'cause if I remember right this was the era of NASA just straight up hemorrhaging money as they went about figuring out anything and everything with no thought to quality control...though, this was also the era that led to the discovery of the following (and probably way more):
  • Digital imaging breast biopsy system, developed from Hubble Space Telescope technology.
  • Tiny transmitters to monitor the fetus inside the womb.
  • Laser angioplasty, using fiber-optic catheters.
  • Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (AICD), which has substantial life-saving benefits.
  • Temper Foam, developed to serve as shock-absorbing padding.
  • GIPSY-OASIS.
  • Enriched Baby Formula.
  • Firefighter's Portable Breathing Systems.
At most I can imagine the only reason we get inside of NASA if we manage to swing a tour of Cape Canaveral, Houston, and the JPL Labs, if we talk to Reagan about a documentary series and possible film/television series, and mention something during the tour, like an innocent interviewer question that gets them to panic.

One question though, is it illegal for us to donate money to NASA in any way?
Without Congressional Approval, yes, but if you can get it you're golden, as of the Year of Our Lord 1979, there were 41 agencies accepted over $20 million in gifts (GAO).

Best way I can think for us to ingratiate us with Congress is to donate them a number of Sand Batteries explicitly for NASA's use, hint that we're excited for their interplanetary colonization efforts that they're assuredly working on.

[X]Write in: Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Kings: LA's premiere basketball and hockey teams, both teams are powerhouses within their respective sports but unfortunately in their history have always managed to fall slightly short of a championship title. Both teams have recently made some major trades and are looking to have some strong years ahead, so they would be a wise choice for Carrie even if she's mainly a Baseball fan. If nothing else, most of Hollywood is gonna want to be your friends for Lakers tickets.

[]Star Wars is not a Franchise, its a universe, big difference (George finally realizes that he can do lots of things with his universe.)
Magoose, I believe that obejctively this is the best option. No matter how much I desire Clint Eastwood to be in the Mandalorian as possibly the lead.

Oh God, I'm going to miss that!

Will Reagan's Star Wars plan still be a thing? Also Challenger is coming up. Any way to prevent that going kablooey?

While we can plausibly set into motion a series of butterflies that prevent Challenger itself from blowing up on that specific day, the possibility of a Challenger event still remains because NASA at the point was adopting a toxic work culture of damn everything but results and was fighting to have any shred of relevance and funding. Although, the Shuttle is a very horrible program to support since it's an ugly chimera that went far beyond its original intent and was warped into a resource sink that sabotaged space exploration in terrible ways. The only way the Shuttle could work is its original intent, a cheap transport system for commercial satellite launches as part of the greater Space Transportation System. Unfortunately Nixon cut everything except for the Shuttle, and forced the Shuttle to do everything with space exploration instead of its niche role, making costs balloon and stretching the tech and design under heavy strain.

At this point, the best change for the shuttle's future and practically the only one is that somehow butterflies cause NASA to get a bigger boost in funding which means they don't have to rely on Air Force support, getting rid of the Shuttle's garbage heat shield system and making it cheaper and allow greater flights along with billions of dollars saved from no Vandenberg. Really, the shuttle should have been aborted years ago, but unfortunately there's no justifiable way for Bruce to have influenced it or butterflies to cause such a massive change. The Shuttle entered construction in 1976, and at that point it's before Star Wars so you can't justify a religious experience like Elvis and American Graffiti to cause Ford or Carter to radically change the program and Bruce as a B-star of a small studio could not have had the power and influence to cause Washington to change course. Our ability to do so came well after the POD potential.

If you want the shuttle to be viable, you have to give NASA a shit ton of funding so that the Shuttle returns to its original intent of satellite support and make some proper successors to Apollo through the restoration of STS. With Star Wars being the GOAT, that could have happened, but Jimmy Carter also isn't a fan of us and public support is a fickle thing, which may have dropped massively with our terrible global economy and more pressing issue of the Soviet-Romanian War. So you need to convince Carter and then Reagan to maintain a massive boost to NASA funding for permanent orbital and lunar presence. Trust me in that I would love to do some Omakes to help support this, but even after taking two semesters of space exploration history in college, it's a really difficult topic that I'm not sure I can cover accurately and in high quality.

One question though, is it illegal for us to donate money to NASA in any way?

Better path would be to pump in money for NASA lobbyists to push Congress to give budget boosts.

Who want to do charity to renovate Ireland so it can economically boom itself to be greater then the British isles

If we do this then can we please make very goddamn sure about exactly where our investment money goes? The last thing we want for Bruce is to be caught funnelling money to the IRA like NORAID just when the Troubles really kick off.

People want to use charity to fund pointless things, when we should do investment that will earn us more money long term

Who want to do charity to renovate Ireland so it can economically boom itself to be greater then the British isles
maybe we could do a little charity with the natives too ?, at present only 30% of the inhabitants of the Navajo territory have electricity and more than 40% do not have access to running water , I can only imagine what it was like in the 80s, I doubt that the other native territories are doing much better.

People want to use charity to fund pointless things, when we should do investment that will earn us more money long term

we are already super uber rich what would be the point ?,gaining so much money that we become scrooge mcduck ?

The Halloween Tree
Well since Cat is working and being HEARD at Disney, figures now is as good a time as any to pitch this.

The Halloween Tree

Based on the book by: Ray Bradbury
Written by: Cat O'Brian
Directed by: Chuck Jones
Produced by: Roy E. Disney
Distribution: Walt Disney Productions

A group of four friends plan to have the best Halloween ever take a turn for the worse when their best friend Pip is taken away in an ambulance. The friends somehow still see a ghostly version of their friend run behind their house and into the woods, so the friends give chase where they find they has entered the old, creaking and dilapidated house of Carapace Clavicle Moundshroud and his giant gnarly tree filled with pumpkins. If they wanna' save their friend, they're gonna' have to be brave, and willing, enough to learn the history of Halloween.

Tom Skeleton: The de facto leader of the group, Tom is a act first and ask questions later type of kid who's more than willing to rush headfirst into danger if it means helping out his friends. Initially when Moundshroud asks the group why each of them chose their costume, Tom replies that he chose his because Skeletons are creepy. Tom later learns when Moundshroud takes the group to Mexico during Dia De Los Muertos that there's nothing inherently scary about skeletons, as the celebration shows people partying and having a good time around skeletons and is told that it's a way for people to accept that we ALL become skeletons in the end.
Voiced By: Adam Sandler

Jenny Witch: Jenny is a strong willed girl who's biggest obstacle seems to be overcoming her fear of heights throughout the film. She dresses up as a Witch for Halloween, and rides around on a bicycle which she's fixed two brooms for either side to make it look like she's flying down the streets. When asked by Moundshroud why she chose to dress up as a Witch, Jenny replies that witches don't get scared, they scare people. When Moundshroud takes the group to Europe during the dark ages Jenny is able to get over her fear of heights when she's given the chance to fly around on an actual magical broom, but also learns the tragic history behind witches in that they were mostly individuals who were smart but were feared by those ignorant or fearful of them gaining more power around them. During the Europe section Jenny watches as a coven of witches(implied to just be Pagans) have their homes and forest set ablaze by a group of nearby villagers.
Voiced by: Molly Ringwald

Ralph Mummy: Ralph is the son of a doctor and a skinny kid who wears glasses, that doesn't mean he's a scaredy cat or a wimp, but he's definitely the most easily frightened of the group. He dresses up as a mummy using most of his fathers gauze. When asked by Moundshroud why he chose to dress up as a mummy, Ralph has no answer at first. When Moundshroud takes the group to Egypt they find that once a year the people take out their dead to dine with them as if they were still alive. Ralph also learns that one of the reasons that mummies were wrapped up like they were was because of the believe they were in a cocoon of sorts, and the afterlife would be where they would become reborn, or as butterflies in a way. Moundshroud asks Ralph again, why he dressed as a mummy, and Ralph answers that it's to cover himself up as he's embarrassed by his size and glasses. He gets over this though, and manages to save Pip in the Egyptian section of the movie before he's entombed by the Egyptians.
Voiced by: Liev Schreiber

Wally Monster: Wally is a fun loving boy who takes everything at face value. When he firsts sees the ghostly image of Pip running off into the woods even though he just saw his friend get taken away in an ambulance, his first thoughts are that Pip is playing a prank on them and rushes after his friend. When the group fist meets Moundshroud and the creepy old man says that Pip stole his pumpkin and he wants it back, Wally believes that if they just get the pumpkin then he'll leave Pip alone. When asked by Moundshroud why he chose to dress up as a monster, he says it's because they're scary and evil! When Moundshroud takes the group to an unfinished Cathedral(which turns out to be Notre Dame), Wally and the group finish it by running around and the cobblestones running up to where their feet would meet open air. Wally notices that the Cathedral doesn't have any stone monsters, or Gargoyles as Moundshroud explains. He has Wally call for the Gargoyles, and explains that most cultures view the stone beasts as protectors, not monsters, which was why so many cultures have them outside of temples or castles. Wally eventually saves Pip from turning into a stone angel while inadvertently revealing he always wished he was as brave as Pip.

Carapace Clavicle Moundshroud: A mysterious and creepy figure who lives in a twisting and winding old creaky house out by the woods. He owns a giant gnarly tree that, instead of leaves, if filled with pumpkins. The group encounters Moundshroud while chasing after Pip, and Moundshroud himself is after Pip for stealing his Pumpkin(that looks strangely like Pip's head). Moundshroud allows the children to come with him to capture Pip and also teach them the various ways Halloween has been seen or used throughout cultures, teaching each of the kids a little something about the history of the holiday and themselves. While a bit forceful and scary at times, Moundshroud also displays caring and a yearning need to teach the kids and help them while also being firm in his stance on capturing Pip. It is implied that Moundshroud is actually death, as at the end of the film he takes the four kids up on their offer to give up some of their "Time" in order to Pip get some of theirs back.
Voiced by: Vincent Price

Pipkin "Pip" Pumpkin: Pip, the driving force behind the whole plot. Everyone of the kids talks about Pip as if they were the greatest kid and friend in the world. On the day Pip was born, every soda bottle in the world fizzed up and shot its tops off, all the dogs howled in jubilation, and all the stars shined a bit brighter. Pip is sick and taken away in an ambulance at the beginning of the film, Ralph commenting that he remembers his dad mentioning that Pip was having troubles with their appendix, when Pip's ghostly form is seen running off into the woods. From there Pip steals one of the pumpkins on Moundshrouds tree, the one that looks like their face, and is chased by Moundshroud and the group across the world and time itself. Pipkin is friendly, always offering words of encouragement to their friends, and also gives off a genuine since of growing fear about their death as the movie goes on. The pumpkin Pip is holding onto, is implied to be their soul. Pip is never referred to as a boy or a girl, their gender left ambiguous and up to the audience.

The whole idea of the Halloween Tree was originally envisioned by Bradbury as a collaboration screenplay for Chuck Jones back in '67, but things didn't really work out and OTL the film wasn't actually made until the 90's by Hanna Barbera. In this timeline things obviously went much different, and with Jones in charge of Disney Animation it seemed obvious that this would be one of the projects that would get a greenlight and not wait in development hell for decades.

Also as another note, I'd like to think this is one of the first big projects that Tim Burton would've gotten to work on too, as it seems right up his alley and matches up for when he would've started working for Disney.

People want to use charity to fund pointless things, when we should do investment that will earn us more money long term
I wouldn't call helping veterans and refugees pointless, though if you're talking about the birds it's more understandable. Still, as @Kaiser Chris said, the tax write-offs from our charity will help ensure that we don't have to spend nearly as much on taxes as we really need to.

Also, and this is just personally my opinion, I don't really see the need to make uber-amounts of money when we're already well-off enough, not counting the money that Carrie is making.

So

Magoose

yesterday I finished reading this quest and I must say that I really like it but I have two questions:

1: why are the movie results in sidestory rather than threadmark ?it seeem that some movie are missing?,maybe just me but its weird

2: if I understood correctly our actions made the American veterans love us enough that if we had to get rid of a corpse half of them would have a shovel in hand before the dead body hit the ground right? but what What about the army?, if the logic of our interaction with Hollywood is applied here they must hate us for making them look bad by bringing attention to the poor treatment of veterans?, is this the case?
