Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

I like it. Also, interesting idea to make Bruce Catholic. AFAIK, religion is never really a thing with his character, but we did get confirmation from Magoose that our performance changed Batman canon, including making Martha Irish Catholic. Making Bruce also catholic allows for some fun stuff with the Order of St. Dumas and Azrael in that case and gives him some fun Daredevil-esque potential stories.
Tbh and this is just me… I'd rather Bruce not shape Batman like that. It seems kinda… alienating for me to think of Batman as being anything other then… well.

Batman. He's inspiring by being that kind of symbol of hope and making him catholic might… I really don't know the right word

"But-"
"Diana, I'm Catholic. I take no other than Him, and all that."
Catholic Bruce Wayne. That makes for a very interesting change and his strict "No-Kill" rule along with hope for his villains to reform feel more natural and understandable. I support it all the way. Plus the Religious Bruiser is a rare trope and if written well, makes for a very good character.

That's fair but I think it adds a lot of personality to him. Plus, Batman quoting scripture to random mooks and iconic characters like Superman with his gravel voice appeals to me. And since Joker is basically an anarchist and thus likely doesn't believe in God we can have him try to convince Bruce that God doesn't exist along with the classic trying to break his no-kill rule.

Goddamn, Batman being religious fits very well into his character and beliefs.

Hey guys, I was just checking on Wes Craven to see if there was any movie that could be perhaps used to have him join Lucasfilms, and unfortunately I couldn't find any. The first "Nightmare on Elm Street" movie was written in 1981, and at the monment he's just trying to find work and someone who will hire himm for perhaps something more than just horror.

Interestingly, at this point Wes Craven has pretty much resigned himself to the idea that he will just be known, and hired, for Horror films, yet he wants to do more than that. And you know, much of his filmmaking style does seem to hint at someone that can do good suspense and psychological thrillers as well.

To quote: "Craven's works tend to explore the breakdown of family structures, the nature of dreams and reality, and often feature black humor and satirical elements."

So, I think that perhaps next turn we contact him and offer hi the chance to become one of Lucasfilms new directors, he would be able to choose from the writing room the films he wants to do (like all of our directors can I assume) and we get him for his future movies as well (save for Swamp Thing).

I mean, perhaps it sounds a bit crazy, but what do you guys think of The Shining directed by Wes Craven?

Yeah I wouldn't mind doing that. Also for everyone whose concerned about not getting horror stuff, I think we got some decent material in our originals. Moonlight Diner can be a pretty iconic part of the genre and Slenderman alone is a goldmine for franchising because we can redot the format lots of times and Slenderman can continue to exist without it being a bullshit plot contrivance or money milker like the other slashers.

If we are to make a film, then I really want to make Moonlight Diner. Seems like something quick and cheap, and we can show Bruce's directing skills and hire some great current unknowns or overlooked.

@Magoose Can we film Moonlight Diner entirely on the Lucasfilms lot and how long would it take? Also would you be okay with us making another movie in 1979 or do you not want us to so that way we can jump forward to 1980 because a movie would take 3-5 production turns and I know you're really eager to get to the next decade. If you don't want us to then that's fine because we can just get Bruce more acting jobs.

Plus one advantage to Catholic Batman is that it gives him a stronger and more personal reason to have his no kill rule besides "I'll be just like them and go crazy!". Plus it also fuels his belief in redemption and helping many of those he fights.

Tbh and this is just me… I'd rather Bruce not shape Batman like that. It seems kinda… alienating for me to think of Batman as being anything other then… well.

Batman. He's inspiring by being that kind of symbol of hope and making him catholic might… I really don't know the right word

Fair. Although it could be written in a smart and subtly way where Bruce's religion is just one part of his complex character and fills a fraction of his beliefs along with his experiences and trauma. You don't have to go full Matt Murdock and still have it be part of his character, but Bruce at the end of the day is Batman first, the Dark Knight to evil and the Caped Crusader for the innocent.

That makes for a very interesting change and his strict "No-Kill" rule along with hope for his villains to reform feel more natural and understandable.
Not as much as you might think. The word that we have as "Kill" in the Bible is an incorrect translation. That particular commandment from The Ten Commandments properly translated from Hebrew is, "Thou shall not Murder.". Which changes the dynamics of how that would impact Bruce considerably. Especially considering that Bruce CAN read Hebrew, both Ancient and Modern. Thus he would know that it is popularly mistranslated.

To quote someone else more versed than I am in ancient Hebrew, "The Hebrew word for killing is harag, and the Hebrew word for murder is ratzach. The commandment is lo tirtach, and its meaning is clear: "Thou shalt not murder." All murder is killing, but not all killing is murder. Killing a chicken for food is not murder, and killing a person in self-defense is not murder."

That's true but has Batman ever actually been in a situation where he had to kill someone in self-defence?

Yes actually and not too long ago by comic standards. Brave and the Bold #84 published on April 22, 1969 - Bruce Wayne kills a fighter pilot with a hand grenade.
He kills a LOT more than people realize.

The History of Batman Killing in the Comics

This thread is to showcase the times where Batman has been shown to have killed: both directly or indirectly. It seems to be a point of contention as of late, so I thought it would be nice to have a compilation of different examples throughout the history of his comic book run. And if you guys...

Ooh, ooh, I can explain this one!! :D If I'm right that is.

Ahem.

Right now, Spain is undergoing heavy democratic reform after it had suffered for the past few decades under the iron fist of Fascist dictator Francisco Franco, who died four years ago. Ironically enough, Juan Carlos I, the prime minister who succeeded Franco and member of the bloodline of the monarchy before became a republic, was the main reformer and voice behind the democratic changes, which most likely would never have taken off as well as it did without his support.

Some people right now still want Spain to remain Fascist, however, which'll be a bit of pain for Juan. However, if my assumptoons about Bruce's meeting with the Pope are true, Juan might be able to smooth over the transition to democracy(i.e. constitutional monarchy) almost flawlessly with the support of Bruce and the Pope... maybe.

Well, by 1979, we are already past the legalization of the PCE and the ratification of the 1978 Constitution and into the troubled third term of president Adolfo Suarez. There is still the trial-by-fire that was 23-F, but that is still relatively far into the future, and other than that most of the major milestones of the Spanish transition to democracy have already been left behind.

What about the coup attempt of 81?

So I was reminded of an ol' idea from SB's Cyberpunk Fic Ideas Thread, of Johnny Bravo being an old Solo by the time of 2077, and I gotta say...it tickled me pink. It even makes a certain amount of sense, on account that when the Valentinos formed they were a straight up poser gang of wannabe Casanovas, of which Johnny is quintessentially that.

Of half a mind now to pitch that as an alt timeline to the main setting, mainly because one of the things that paired best with the concept was his decades old friendship with Samurai Jack.

This isn't the pitch, just a rough draft of the concept...what y'all think?
Night City: Brothers In Arms

INT. JOHNNY'S APARTMENT - DAY

Johnny Bravo, a muscular and stylish man with a pompadour, is getting ready in his apartment located in Night City. The room is filled with neon lights and posters of cyberpunk bands. Johnny is a member of the posergang Valentinos, known for their extravagant style and love for cybernetic enhancements. He receives a message on his augmented reality display.

MESSAGE (A.R. Display)
Night City is under siege by cybernetically enhanced criminals. The Valentinos are mobilizing to protect our turf.

Johnny smirks, his eyes filled with determination.

JOHNNY
(adjusting his cybernetic arm)
Looks like it's time for Johnny Bravo to show 'em what the Valentinos are made of!

INT. NIGHT CITY STREETS - NIGHT

Johnny struts down the neon-lit streets of Night City, his Valentinos jacket catching the attention of everyone around him. Suddenly, he witnesses a gang of cybernetically enhanced thugs harassing innocent citizens.

JOHNNY
(posing dramatically)
Hold it right there, chummers! The Valentinos are here to put an end to your cyber-shenanigans!

Johnny engages in an epic fight, displaying impressive martial arts skills and overpowering the thugs. However, he is soon outnumbered.

INT. ABANDONED WAREHOUSE - NIGHT

Johnny finds himself cornered in an abandoned warehouse, surrounded by the same cybernetically enhanced thugs. Just as it seems all hope is lost, a shadowy figure appears.

It's Samurai Jack, a stoic warrior with a katana at his side.

JACK
(unsheathing his sword)
Stand back, Johnny Bravo. I will handle this.

Jack swiftly defeats the thugs with his masterful swordsmanship and martial arts skills, saving Johnny from certain defeat.

JOHNNY
(stammering, impressed)
Whoa, that was some seriously slick moves! Thanks, man.

JACK
You fought valiantly, Johnny Bravo. But these enhanced criminals are a threat to the people of Night City. We must put an end to their reign of chaos.

Johnny nods, realizing that he needs Jack's help to fight against these cybernetically enhanced enemies.

JOHNNY
You're right, Jack. We should team up. Johnny Bravo, the Valentino, and Samurai Jack, the ultimate duo!

INT. VALENTINOS' HIDEOUT - NIGHT

Johnny and Jack set up their base in a hidden room within the Valentinos' headquarters. They analyze data on cybernetically enhanced criminals and plan their next move.

JOHNNY
(flipping through files)
According to my intel, these criminals are working for a powerful figure in Night City. We need to take them down and restore order.

JACK
Agreed. Let us combine our skills and put an end to their tyranny.

They equip themselves with advanced weaponry and cybernetic enhancements, blending the style of the Valentinos with Jack's disciplined warrior ethos.

EXT. NIGHT CITY SKYLINE - NIGHT

Johnny and Jack traverse the towering skyscrapers and neon-filled streets of Night City, pursuing a group of cybernetically enhanced criminals who are wreaking havoc.

JOHNNY
(embracing the chaos)
Johnny Bravo's about to set Night City on fire! Let's go, Jack!

JACK
(steadfast)
Stay focused, Johnny. These criminals won't go down without a fight.

They engage in intense battles, utilizing their unique combat styles. Johnny's strength and flamboyance complement Jack's precision and swordsmanship.

INT. HIDDEN LAB - FINAL SHOWDOWN - NIGHT

Johnny and Jack infiltrate a hidden lab owned by the powerful figure behind the criminal organization. They confront the figure, surrounded by menacing cybernetically enhanced guards.

FIGURE
(laughing menacingly)
You fools think you can stand against me? Night City is mine to control!

JOHNNY
(flashing a confident smile)
Johnny Bravo's got a message for you, pal. No one messes with our city!

JACK
(resolute)
Evil will never prevail in Night City. Prepare to face justice.

A fierce battle ensues, with Johnny and Jack combining their skills and teamwork to face the figure's dark forces. They push themselves to the limit, determined to save Night City.

INT. HIDDEN LAB - FINAL MOMENTS - NIGHT

Johnny and Jack manage to defeat the figure, bringing an end to their reign of terror. They stand victorious, but exhausted, amidst the wreckage of the lab.

JOHNNY
(panting)
We did it, Jack. Night City is safe again.

JACK
(nodding)
Our collaboration made a difference, Johnny. We make quite the team.

They exchange a nod of respect, their friendship forged through their shared battles.

FADE OUT.
Remember, this is an Alt-Timeline and, more than likely, a homebrew game where Mike and Dave are testing outright supernatural enemies for the setting.

Prompt From the Ashes
From the Ashes
This story is set in a land that has seen better days. Having fallen from the heights they once were generations ago the land faces an ancient threat their ancestors were familiar with. A story of facing uncertainty, of pushing on in spite of the odds, and hope even in the darkest of times.

The first act focuses on the Chosen Champions, each the best of their faction, alongside the two rival researchers and the Prince/Princess. Focuses a bit more on slice of life with the many different personalities interacting with each other, and sometimes clashing, while they all try and do their best to prepare for the upcoming threat that led to their group's formation.

Characters

The two scientists: They are both full characters in their own right. Both sharp academic minds whom play a key role in the prep work, one digging into relics of the past to find the lost knowledge of Golden Age magitech lost in a feud, and the other pushing the boundary of explosive projectiles, making what can be recognized as early guns.

The Rancher: An unlikely member. A very skilled Goat Rider whom has taken very well to the experimental equipment, but highly self-conscious about his perceived lack of combat skills. Has a way with animals and deep understanding of plants as well.

The Champion: A once in a lifetime prodigy, and elite in basically any weapon. He/She is a gourmet, a cook and a prankster, but the weight of the new role weighs heavily on him/her. Is also the chosen of an anchient weapon, one whom is believed to possibly be older than the kingdom itself.

The Noble: A member of an old bloodline, blessed with special magic. And yet, hasn't been able to tap into it, a great frustration for the family and him/herself, as well as a point of contention even as he/she spearheads the archaeological efforts.

The Healer: From a Bloodline of healers. She is a skilled combatant, alongside her inherited affinity for healing as healing magic literally runs in the family. But has some issues over being known for the inherent ability of her bloodline, and not for her skills or achievements.

The Ranger: A master of the bow, and the foremost expert of his species in manipulating the wind. A master of his/her craft that was selected to represent them. Always pushing him/herself to do better, to push beyond the limits of yesterday. And yet, is also insecure and perhaps comes off a little arrogant sometimes due to his awareness of just how much of his/her life was invested to get this far.

The Leader: A highly skilled warrior and leader of her faction. While she/he is highly capable, she however needs to balance her time between his/her duty as a Chosen Champion, but also to the people she leads. Especially helping her young chosen successor prepare for if/when she needs to take over.

The Retainer: A member of a mysterious ninja tribe, one whom has been long tied to the royal family. One that has long fallen from their heights of the Golden age after the tribe split for reasons that have been lost to time as far as most of the world knows. Assigned to the princess due to being among the more skilled in the combat arts relative to most of the village, and the threat of the cousins whom hold onto old grudges.

The Thief: A mysterious person with a shrouded past. Knows more than he/she should, in both knowledge and magic. Most notably in secrets possibly older than the founding of the nation.

In the Climax of the arc, all of the elements and events would come together, in a desperate doomed war that ends with a pyrrhic victory. The champions barely escaping alive thanks to the assistance of others, and even then being forced to recuperate in hidden relic recovery facilities till arc 3. The threat still around, but contained with it's reach drastically curtailed

The second at is set a long time after the first, where the broken old kingdom is only remembered by the elders of the old species. Still in living memory for specific long-lived communities, but at least one generation of most species have passed. This is centered around basically dreamers, people whom while lacking the talent, training, or bloodline of the first group of protags, nonetheless has the will to try and change the new status quo for the better. Kindling hope, gathering new members, acquiring better equipment clashing with those whom see them as a threat, including threats from before the disaster.

The Dreamer: Someone has to be the one with the vision and the optimism to start gathering the group together. The person is the heart of the organization, the one whom gathered the others to try and turn a dream into reality. Not unfamiliar with combat given the age he/she lives in, but is more of a diplomat.

The Town Captain: While unproven as a commander of an army, this person has shown great talent in the art of command. And yet, the weight of command can be heavy, for one's decisions can decide who lives and who dies.

The Apprentices: Students of the two scientists from the previous era. earnest and seeking to use their skills to aid others in doing their part.

The Agent: Hailing from an ancient tribe. He/she doesn't talk much about the past. While a bit of an enigma, he/she had met the dreamer before.

The climax would be a major clash with a cult built around the cause of the disaster, whom were founded shortly after the fall of the golden age. Between the friends, allies, and their improvements of the organization and their people, they whether an all-out attack by the cult, attempting to weaken the rising new power in the area.

This act ties the first two together. The containment is weakening, the recovery of the gravely wounded champions are finished, if not fully complete, and the Arc 2 Cast are at the forefront of the wider fight. One of the major aspects are the interactions between the casts, coming to terms with how much things have changed, and possibly spotty memories of the time before. The climax would be the final battle, the Champions and the act 2 organization fighting the enemy faced in act one, without the element of suprise being on their enemy's side.

The Big 3 Background Factions(Mostly operating in the background of the current series, influencing events in their favor. A mystery that could be delved in for a sequel or prequel.)
-The Light Faction: The 'founders' of the nation at the center of the story were important members of this group. Mortal enemies of the Dark Faction, they have long since faded into the background, with few relics being found in moderen-day, even as they try and influence events to their own advantage. Seeking dominion and order, their actions are colored by arrogance and the belief they are right.

-The Dark Faction: Diametrically opposed to the Light, preferring personal power above much else. Similarly showing little, besides their connection to the Threat that had been occasionally resurfacing since the Light Faction lead and 'Founder' of the kingdom managed to seal it away.

- Kingdom Faction: Much smaller than the other two, this faction is much more deeply tied to the kingdom than the Light faction, stretching longer than known records. The Leader is the Patron Goddess of the kingdom, whom through a curse layed during interesting circumstances, is also a part of a reincarnatng trio of mortals, using this fact to help play the two sides off each other to protect the kingdom. The mortals being the mortal reincarnation of the goddess, a Brave Warrior, and a Mage Commander whom inherit the skills, but not the memories of their past selves.

The Kingdom: Feeling the pressure of the impending event, they are very much in crisis mode, engaging in grand excevation projects to uncover the tools used in the past against it while investigating other possible weapons, supporting archaology expeditions seeking relics alongside reaching out to the local factions to aquire more aid. But it wasn't enough, and yet, the idea lives on much like the last great disaster that enabled the 'founding' by the hidden Light Faction.

The Pasterz Family: A history as old as Hyrule, their name is said to come from the family that fought alongside Hylia in the age of myth. Living mostly in the hilly plains nowadays, they still have many following their wanderer roots even now, meaning they and their famous Goat mounts are pretty well known throughout Hyrule. While their Goat riders may not be a direct match to the Royal Knights on a relatively clear field, between skills with bow and sword( and now gun), and the Goat's natural agility even in hostile enviroments, makes them much more capable in non-ideal enviroments.

Yilda: Claiming liniage of a now Legendary empire. They even now, are known as among the best engineers of the land. Drawing roman influences, especially for their infantry they are known for, they hail from their grand cities which are still mantained today, even if, much like Hyrulian anchient cities, much is lost to history. They are close to where the Pasterz eventually settled. Only the Royal forces could match Yilda's famed Legions in their element, and at their height was said to be a rival of Hyrule, even if that time was long before known history.

The Sparrow Clan: The local bird people, with a natural affinity for flight and the manipulation of wind. Skilled hunters that have mastered the usage of a bow in flight. While not as skilled fighting on the ground, they are fearsome combatants if given room to spread their wings. They mostly survive through hunting and fishing, preferring to live in the mountains away from the local volcano. While they are well known to use the bow, perhapse their most dangrous skills are their fierce spearmanship and swordsmanship, using their natural agility and wind affinity to flow around enemy defenses to strike at enemy weak points, and taking flight to avoid getting bogged down in an unfavorable situation.

The Tyna: The people of the water. They are as at home in the water as the Sparrows to the sky and the Pasterz in the mountains. They are part fish much like the people of the sparrow clan are part bird, giving them great advantage in the water, in exchange for being very vulnerable to electrical attacks. Their knowledge and skills related to the water are unmatched. While not known shipbuilders, they are known chemists, and has knowledge of how to light the water surface on fire, and most else.

The Kageha:They used to be the retainers of Hyrule's royal family, the artifact engineers that mantained the golden age. But they and the Hikarikage split during the shadow civil war, in response to the king of Hyrule ordering the banishment of their retainers in fear of the power concentrated in their hands, and possibly other dark secrets either hidden or lost in the war. Founded by people furious at the king for this betreyal, the organization had devoted themselves to taking down the royal family in revenge. And yet, the Kageha of today is not the same as those during the civil war however. While they are still feared by much of the population, they lost much of the zeal and discipline, alongside skills such as artiface since the early days. Their members are split between die-hard members, less dedicated misfits, and agents from the big 3, but their ninjitsu makes them not a force to be underestimated, as their sheer mobility allows them to overwhelm most non-elites by simply attacking from multiple sides at a speed few would be capable of.

The Tita Hikarikage: They used to be the retainers of Hyrule's royal family, the artifact engineers that maintained the golden age. But they and the Kageha split during the shadow civil war, in response to the king of Hyrule ordering the banishment of their retainers in fear of the power concentrated in their hands, and possibly other dark secrets either hidden or lost in the war. The Hikarikage after the war has mostly settled down. While keeping their skills alive and still remembering their duty, they had not kept their artifice knowledge that enabled the creation of the great machines their answers built. They have largely settled down and tend to be less martial, in part due to an unfortunate fact that the Kageha had found ways to appeal to dissatisfied youth, for good or ill on both sides, especially as tensions very much still exist, even if far from when the two were pretty much at war with each other. Though even with them still being close to Hyrule, they do still hold certain secrets, even if certain important secrets may have been lost since the fall of the golden age.

The Peridot Clan: A hardy people more at home in the mountains than everyone else. Their species are far more capable of handling heat than any other, making their home inside a volcano, surrounded by rocks that also serve as food for them. Very tough and strong, while not fast their skin is unusually tough, making them harder to injure than most. Preferring throwing weapons, martial arts and hammers, they tend to prefer to use their superior strength in combat. Expert delvers and miners, their understanding of rocks is unrivaled in the lands, extending to uses such as feasibility as construction materials and tolernces. They have also been known to at times to simply curl up and let themselves roll down hills, which is both faster and a possible hazard to others around them.

The SandStrider clan: The deserts aren't a particularly friendly place. Between the freezing nights and the swelteringly hot days, it takes certain skills and stubbornness to make a living in the desert, something the SandStrider clan, alongside the masters of the great City-States of the desert have learned well. The Sandstrider clan and their city are the oldest, with secrets lost to the rulers hidden away to be later rediscovered. Although they are currently among the weakest in spite of their storied history, in part due to how much has been lost, and the fact that long ago, changing geology diverted the river supplying the city away. These desert people are also highly matriarchal, with the degree and treatment depending on the specific city-state. They also happen to be the closest city-state, still holding some sway thanks to their history, and their leaders have so far been able to consistently beat in duels the ancient mage queen that leads the strongest of all city-states, and regarded as the strongest mage outside the Hyrule's legendary bloodlines, of which no-one had awaken for a long time.

A/N: This prompt again. Added factions which play a role in the story, alongside 3 which for the large part would work in the background, more there for lore and creating opportunities to invoke curiosity by teasing the audience subtlety about things behind the scenes than being major factions directly interacting with the cast, which could be delved into through a prequel/sequel.

Can we also make it so that the script came from Bruce like the Batman one did?

Also, since the DCU will only have one phase, how many movies are they planning for it? I mean, I assume that they already have the canonical two, adn we're under contract to make a trilogy for Batman. Wonder Woman gets one I guess, but if they plan to also have Aquaman and Flash they would also need a movie to introduce them as well.

Personally, I would make the Aquaman film and introduce Flash in the Justice League one.

...Then again, I would also prefer to not have Superman involved in the Justice League movie since that would make the heroes too overpowered, but we work with what we have.

Well Here is the thing on that subject.

Alan wants 12 movies in total for some of the biggest names in DC.

Superman and Batman will be the only ones that get sequels at this point in time.

What about the coup attempt of 81?
Well, technically it was the King's response to the attempted coup in which he vehemently declared himself for the democratic government and ordered every military personel to stand down the thing that earned the biggest amount of respect from the people...

And the 23 F was a total shitshow of a coup, in which the 3 main heads of the conspiracy didn't agree in the afterwards...
