Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

[X] Plan When in Rome
This is a pretty good plan so it is getting an approval vote from me
For networking, I view networking with the Airplane guys as more important because they are literally about to start production next turn while we got a whole year for Flash Gordon. Network with Cunningham and try to see about getting the Friday the 13th franchise. Finally, since so many people are begging this by popular demand, network with Steve Jobs. Y'all know I'm not a fan, but since it's gonna keep on coming let's just get this over with and hopefully we get an in and not fire Gavin.
OK, this Is a good point... I will change the networking with Friday 13 for Airplane... We can do the other one the next turn...

By The way, I know that you favor purchasing Kenner @Kaiser Chris but since, unlike with Hasbro, we don´t have confirmation that they are willing to sell and the possible price racket...

Would you be willing to go for Hasbro next turn?
[X] Plan Network, help Friends, and the power of Merchandising!!!
[X] Plan When in Rome

Hasbro is a bad choice for us since it's going to be so expensive. The better options we have available to us are Bandai and Kenner, considering that they'll be cheaper and we already have connections with them.
The thing is that Hasbro is in a deep crisis, which is why we can buy it at all (after Superman proved the power of Merchandising the Toy companies have increased their market value tenfold)...

@Magoose confirmed that we don´t have enough money to buy Bandai, and he has said nothing about Kenner´s being available for purchase, or its price range when I asked him... That is why I am going for Hasbro because we have QM confirmation that can get it for around $400 million

Hasbro is not my first choice either, but better to get the 3rd choice rather than nothing...

On the other hand, we can now give people a GI Joe movie franchise without the Rock and prevent the Transformers franchise from disappearing from this timeline...and a timeline without Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime is a much poorer timeline indeed.

About that...Transformers was created as a derivative product from the Diaclone toy line, which was created by Shoji Kawamori. The same one who created Macross and is currently working with us. So, unless we get him near a Toyline, or convince him to make the idea for the "Car-Robots" (as they were known back then), then I'm not seeing a future with the Transformers in this quest.

Why is everyone making plans involving the Republicans?
Can't speak for the rest, but as for myself; I figure that since Reagan is going to win, then we might as well try to get in good with them. Not to mention that many of Bruce's values at the moment are values that the Republicans hold, and we can help mitigate some of the worst excesses if we're on the inside.

Those are my thoughts.

Too much lines up with Bruce's character for him to support and like Reagan and oppose Carter. The general consensus seems to be that the only real options that make sense is to either support Reagan(which isn't even necessarily a given, since we'd just be a keynote speaker for now) or to support neither. Most people seem to rather support Reagan, but if you don't, that's fine and you're able to make a plan that reflects that.

Can't believe the Pope wants to urgently meet Bruce, this is pretty cool.
We're one of the more famous Catholics of the world currently… as well as… as His Holiness is currently… rather anti communist.

Let's just say we will have much to discuss both spiritually and in other matters.

Because the alternative is Carter...

I'd rather not get the ball rolling on trickle down economics but we can always pull a reverse Reagan and flip to the Democrats at some point.

I never thought of it that way. Being able to campaign for more moderate Rockefeller Republicans is one of the few reasons I'd be fine with sticking with them.

I guess I've had my view of them shaped by how the party has devolved in the three decades I've been alive.

I'm just annoyed about how the legacy of Reagan's economic policy has lingered long after he left office.

I normally try not to get political online for whatever reason, but yeah, it annoys the shit out of me. I'm just glad that more and more Republicans are drifting away from Reaganesque economics. It's slow, but it's happening and that's all we can ask for as of right now. I just hope it continues.

Before this inevitably derails too much, I think the topic we should speak on at the convention is drug addiction and its effects on people. That's something we can get a lot of support on, regardless of political leanings, and it's early enough that we can do some real damage to drug intake in America. Make D.A.R.E. actually effective, basically.

That's highly unlikely in 1980…. Regan is extremely popular with the Republican Party at this point and has been the shoe in for president candidate since at least 78, at this point in time.

However in saying that… we can probobly prevent a Bush VP if you play your cards right.

And in all likelihood with Bruce being so vhemnently anti drug and having the sheer force of personality to back it up…

We could have kids just straight up not do it and make Dare more effective because Han Solo said so.

Yeah, and that would work pretty well until the late 90s... In which the fuckers from Purdue Pharma will do their thing and hook millions of people into opioids thanks to their flawless marketing...

Seriously I am flabbergasted on how the fuckers running the company didn't get the same treatment as the members of a drug cartel

Then we'll help make it illegal to hawk pharmaceutical products through advertisements and strengthen FDA standards to have a review board that revisits other products at a minimum of every five years with the actual power to enforce standards.

Well Bruce is anti drug… he'd probobly see big pharma as the same as the cartels if you think about it
