The Meeting is Over Turn 50 (January 1977)
Steven Spielberg was not feeling the best as he walked out of the meeting, feeling a sense of dread that he hadn't seemed to have before it. It was like he was really trying to find the words in his thoughts. Yet you walked over to him and smiled. "Something on your mind Steve?"
He adjusted his glasses and laughed. "Dammit, I hope George was going to produce it?"
"I can always ask him to do that if you want?" You gave a smile, trying to put some of the relief into him, before you saw him look at you. "You don't seem happy?"
"How can I be happy?" He said. "Last time someone gave me a picture, and it was you? Gave me 20 million dollars and made me afraid for my life that I wouldn't be able to do anything with it." He then began to laugh more, hysterically. "Like my god, I'm here, burning all my bridges just to be with all my friends. And I can't even say that I produced my own film?"
You instead just shrugged. "Afraid that we're about to do something that we might regret? That we've gotten a little too big for our heads and make a flop?"
Steven seemed to stop laughing at that. "Yeah."
You then smiled. "With Steve Spielberg at the helm? Impossible."
There was a laugh, and you knew he had faith in you. Or maybe he now had faith in himself. That was something.

As you Got home, you saw Carrie lazing on the couch, and you saw she was just reading, with the pets and playing outside. "Oh, hey Carrie." You said. "Are you not working today?"
Carrie for her part sighed before she looked down and just stretched out on the couch. "Nope."
"Taking the day off?" you asked. She had been working rather hard on things lately, so it would be best for her to-
"More than the day." She said as you sat down on the chair next to her.
Okay. You began to worry that she was having another episode, and you were gone for several hours… had she hurt and didn't have you to-
"Bruce you're giving me that look again." She stated, realizing that worry had overtaken your face, and quickly moved to defuse it. "I'm fine Bruce." She said with a smile. "Nothing like that has happened."
You relaxed immediately and you just looked at her. "Okay. What's wrong?"
She sighed. "I'm sick of working, I'm feeling tired, and all the thrill of music and writing have just… gone away. I wanna break. No more working, no more acting jobs, no more anything for a while."
You raised an eyebrow. "What brought this on?" You asked.
"Star Wars' Billion Dollar gross for one thing." She said before she sank deeper into the couch. "I actually talked to my mom about some things."
"Oh?" You asked. "What were those things?" you asked. "Anything important?"
Carrie gave a light chuckle. "Oh, a few things?" She then sat up and sighed. "Her collection that's on display right now. Todds College midterms, and summer classes, as he tries to get a computer degree…" She paused and she looked at you. "Our family's future?"
"Carrie I thought you wanted to wait a little longer?" You knew immediately what she was talking about. And that was something that surprised you "Not that I'm not supportive of the idea, but… why the change of heart?"
"I've already done everything in a career that is worth doing. I'm making millions of dollars a year through album sales, movie residuals, and marketing money. I have Oscars and awards more than any other actress my age has…" Carrie looked down and you saw shame fill her face. "I have everything I could ever want… and I want you to be happy."
You moved over next to her and just hugged her. "I would rather you be happy than ask you to do something to make me happy. I would never be so selfish to go against your wishes unless you are the one making the change. To make it your wish rather than just mine."
It was one of those things in life where you were honestly glad you both decided early on to trust each other without question. It made moments like this far less surprising, and far more easy to deal with.
"We can talk about this later." You said as you kissed her. "I promise."
She then hugged you back. "I love you."
"I know."
