Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Hmmm..

Can we be the ones to Create Live Action Dragon Ball Z? I believe we can do better than a High School Setting.
Ahh, but then we won't get to see the adventures of Geeko as he faces his most deadly nemesis...Fuller!
Sounds good to me!

Has Disney bought "The Chronicles of Prydain" yet?

Is "John Carter of Mars" part of the public domain? If not, who bought the rights?
It means it's a surprise man.
Movie Pitch:
The Iron Giant
@Magoose , can you threadmark this please?

How do you get a multimillion dollar franchise?

Give Kathleen Kennedy a multibillion dollar franchise.
Her failure has been one of the few spots that make me wish... "Damn, why hasn't Disney fired her yet."

And it made me think "What kind of dirt does she have on everyone there to stay in charge?" And it leads me to another more, possibly scarier thought. "What if she's the only competent one that Disney Has because she fired everyone else?"

Also, sorry, alright everyone... let's get back to the quest instead of our gathered hatred for K.K, as I feel it has run its course.

Time to call the vote for the films and finally get to the turn.

So, the Classics Have Just Been Added To: How has the discovery of so many Roman artifacts and records impacted fiction? Was there a small Classical Antiquity boom that led to authors tweaking some of their works?
Well it hasn't done anything yet, but wait till the 80's
The Brave Irish Lads: What kind of effect did this have on Ireland? Was it about History, the IRA or Irish Neutrality?
Lets just say that it made certain things far more interesting.
And Now, American Guncultre Can Be Safe For Kids...Kinda: Did Airsoft arenas explode across California (and the rest of the country) because of Bruce's involvement? Especially after Star Wars, since I have no doubt Bruce tried to get a few of the blasters made into actual airsoft rifles.
Yes it has. But not until the 80's its still rather niche.

The Meeting is Over Turn 50 (January 1977)
The Meeting is Over Turn 50 (January 1977)

Steven Spielberg was not feeling the best as he walked out of the meeting, feeling a sense of dread that he hadn't seemed to have before it. It was like he was really trying to find the words in his thoughts. Yet you walked over to him and smiled. "Something on your mind Steve?"

He adjusted his glasses and laughed. "Dammit, I hope George was going to produce it?"

"I can always ask him to do that if you want?" You gave a smile, trying to put some of the relief into him, before you saw him look at you. "You don't seem happy?"

"How can I be happy?" He said. "Last time someone gave me a picture, and it was you? Gave me 20 million dollars and made me afraid for my life that I wouldn't be able to do anything with it." He then began to laugh more, hysterically. "Like my god, I'm here, burning all my bridges just to be with all my friends. And I can't even say that I produced my own film?"

You instead just shrugged. "Afraid that we're about to do something that we might regret? That we've gotten a little too big for our heads and make a flop?"

Steven seemed to stop laughing at that. "Yeah."

You then smiled. "With Steve Spielberg at the helm? Impossible."

There was a laugh, and you knew he had faith in you. Or maybe he now had faith in himself. That was something.

As you Got home, you saw Carrie lazing on the couch, and you saw she was just reading, with the pets and playing outside. "Oh, hey Carrie." You said. "Are you not working today?"

Carrie for her part sighed before she looked down and just stretched out on the couch. "Nope."

"Taking the day off?" you asked. She had been working rather hard on things lately, so it would be best for her to-

"More than the day." She said as you sat down on the chair next to her.

Okay. You began to worry that she was having another episode, and you were gone for several hours… had she hurt and didn't have you to-

"Bruce you're giving me that look again." She stated, realizing that worry had overtaken your face, and quickly moved to defuse it. "I'm fine Bruce." She said with a smile. "Nothing like that has happened."

You relaxed immediately and you just looked at her. "Okay. What's wrong?"

She sighed. "I'm sick of working, I'm feeling tired, and all the thrill of music and writing have just… gone away. I wanna break. No more working, no more acting jobs, no more anything for a while."

You raised an eyebrow. "What brought this on?" You asked.

"Star Wars' Billion Dollar gross for one thing." She said before she sank deeper into the couch. "I actually talked to my mom about some things."

"Oh?" You asked. "What were those things?" you asked. "Anything important?"

Carrie gave a light chuckle. "Oh, a few things?" She then sat up and sighed. "Her collection that's on display right now. Todds College midterms, and summer classes, as he tries to get a computer degree…" She paused and she looked at you. "Our family's future?"

"Carrie I thought you wanted to wait a little longer?" You knew immediately what she was talking about. And that was something that surprised you "Not that I'm not supportive of the idea, but… why the change of heart?"

"I've already done everything in a career that is worth doing. I'm making millions of dollars a year through album sales, movie residuals, and marketing money. I have Oscars and awards more than any other actress my age has…" Carrie looked down and you saw shame fill her face. "I have everything I could ever want… and I want you to be happy."

You moved over next to her and just hugged her. "I would rather you be happy than ask you to do something to make me happy. I would never be so selfish to go against your wishes unless you are the one making the change. To make it your wish rather than just mine."

It was one of those things in life where you were honestly glad you both decided early on to trust each other without question. It made moments like this far less surprising, and far more easy to deal with.

"We can talk about this later." You said as you kissed her. "I promise."

She then hugged you back. "I love you."

"I know."

Well looks like good things are coming out for Lucasfilms and we're hopefully helping Steve out of his funk. Poor Carrie, suffering from success and dealing with Hollywood bullshit. At least she's going out on her own terms and is going to be happy doing other things. Looks like Gosling Arc is getting ready to go.

@Magoose When it comes to upgrading Lucasfilms does that include buying a studio lot, creating an animation department and house of ideas? Cause I want to do all three but I don't know if I need to do three seperate actions or do them all in the upgrading Lucasfilms action.

Also anyone have any ideas for changes to the Conan script?

That depends on what she wants. Though then again, she thought and we thought she would be doing more work for the rest of the decade... instead of calling it quit after only two years... which is... well not fair, she's done a lot of work for us and for herself.

The Lucasfilm upgrades will be major upgrades only, like starting new entire things.

The investment actions is for more... well, investments into one item only.

Alright then, seems like a good turn. I think we're going to do all the options that include the Production of Conan, though I have to admit that it's been a while since i last saw the film so I can't exaclty remember if there's anything in specific I would change (except for making him speak a bit more) so I'll leave that to you guys.

The option with Carrie and the option with Elvis are also a must. We should start the discussion on what Elvis watns to do sooner rather than later, and of course be there for our wife if only to have some fun.

Giving Hardcore to Mike is a good idea, so let's fo that. Four movies at the same time, who'd have thought...

Hmmm, and if there's one thing I would like for us to do is meet Stan Lee. We can probe him about the Star Wars books and how things are doing for Marvel. Though that is optional, we could very well distrivute another of our films, perhaps finish the Lone Wolf and Cub saga with the final instalment.

What do you think?

Oh I forgot that Marvel action, one sec.

TBH, the problem with this action is that we know basically nothing about this script besides that it is really great, so it is kind of difficult to make changes over that...

So What is this script about (abridged version)? The polished versión of OTL Conan the Barbarian? An adaptation of the chronologically earliest Conan Tales (The Frost Giant's Daughter, The God in the Bowl, The Tower of the Elephant, etc)? Something else entirely?
[]Talking About Family, and Other things not said: You and Carrie need to talk. Or rather… you need to ask Carrie if that is what she wants? DC: 0
Carrie, I love you just as much as everyone else, but I would feel much more comfortable if you were old enough to drink in California before talking about having children...

Currently, its is only OTL Conan the Barbarian script.

--[X] Change the script to be a more faithful adaptation of the Conan books to have the movie be the first of a Saga and chronologically accurate to his character biography. Mix in Conan's earliest adventures in the first two acts to show his rise as a Warrior and the birth of his legend so that the audience sees Conan's growth and how he earns his victory against Doom. Change the framing device of the movie where in the beginning there is a young Prince who lives long after the Hyborean Age and due to being too low on succession, is sent to the remote fringes of his father's empire to supervise the frontier provinces. Bored of his duties, the Prince explores and discovers the tomb of Conan and is told of his exploits by his accompanying Vizier with the storytelling to the Prince serving as narration for the movie, mirroring Conan's call to greatness in finding the Atlantean tomb and thus beginning the cycle again.

--[X] Purchase film rights for Robert Heinlein bibliography. If the bibliography is largely unavailable, focus on Starship Troopers and The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. $10 Million.
-[X]Networking: Well time to start finding out who might actually be interested in meeting you. (Write-in what you want to try and network with)
--[X] Robert Redford. You've heard that Robert has a film he's shopping around about Watergate. Approach and inquire if he would be willing to make it as a Lucasfilms production.

Okay so we dedicate this turn to really developing Lucasfilms into something grand and beautiful and capitalize off of our early success with Star Wars. First we do that by meeting with Stan and friends and making some Marvel comics for Star Wars. They are absolute bangers and were critical in developing the franchise lore OTL and keeping interest in Star Wars alive before the EU so let's do that. Upgrade Lucasfilms, hopefully get Dreamworks up and running and our own flim lot.

We focus on casting for Conan and make sure we get the dream cast. Also see if Hardcore can be made and we help Paul get back in teh Director's chair.

1977 is going to be the year that Ireland releases two more films so let's be a good Irish Boi and get those two for Lucasfilms imports to help the film industry of our mother country.

Carrie comes first and let's talk family but aside from that have fun to help the two have a good time and move on from the previous messiness. Also chill out with Elvis and have fun.

Okay and here's where I go into future ambitions for Lucasfilms. Robert Heinlen is one of the greatest science fiction writers of all time and everyone is on the hunt for space stuff. We gotta purchase as much Heinlen films as we can before Universal gets its grubby paws on them, and since Heinlen is still alive hopefully we can make a movie for him before he dies. Also network with Robert Redford to try and get All the President's Men to become a Lucasfilms production.

The only one I'm unsure about is changing the Story of Conan as I have absolutely no clue what needs to be done to improve it since it's a script quality of 170 and I have not been invested in any Conan media besides watching the first film. If anyone has any ideas that would be great and I'll be sure to add it into the plan and replace getting the Irish films with it.

In OTL, The Conan script was rather... not in keeping with the books, and followed a none book adventure of Conan, rather then try to follow Conans Journey from the beginning.

[X] Plan Rise of the Rebellion

While having James Earl Jones in Conan is a no-brainer, I think we can find a role for Prowse that doesn't keep him masked.

Hey guys, i just had an idea for the movie; I remember when I was re-reading Conan some 20 years back I found some comics they've made with some original stories of the character. The thing is they were so well made that I thought they were Howard's stories at first. They were that good!

Now, the story interested me because it was a Frame Story, where the accomplishments of Conan were not told to us by a Narrator, but instead told to a young bored prince of an empire who was too low in the succession and was sent to a less developed area to supervise it. He finds a statue of Conan and is amazed by the dtail and mien of the man, ordering his men to find more of him. Once they do the Vizier at his side retells the story to the Prince, and from there it all begins. I think this is an amazing way to begin a story, so if we could add it to the movie it would be great.
