Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Hmm, well, he did a good job as Han Solo
I do think this isn't the best example, iirc Bruce was at the time a 19 year old playing some in their mid 20's to early 30's. Vs someone who is 20 playing someone on their 40's. We even had a discussion about possibly changing Han's character a bit because Bruce would be too young.

Meanwhile the average age of actors playing high schoolers from the 90's to 2010's is the mid 20's range.

As for someone else playing Bobby…I think Bruce can still pull it off, lose a bit of muscle (which he would have to do to stat in Marathon Madness anyway) and actually try to look more his age and you should be able to manage it, hell, Macchio was 23 when he played Daniel LaRusso!

I just don't think it's a good idea, that's all. I think we can find a better actor for the role whille avoiding Bruce having to lose all the ahrd earned muscle for a role that, in my opinion, is not that important if we're producing and directing the film already.

As for Marathon Madness...I didn't know we were going to be in it as well. Why would we even go for it when we can start in either Solomon Kane, Moonlight Diner, or even (ad much as I don't agree with it) Conan? As I've said before, we don't have to be in every single Lucasfilm production.
What calling up Joseph?

He's a Korean Vet and he can do something awesome like that.
Good suggestion, problem is if Joseph can learn martial arts in that amount of time and get ripped
I think this is a good idea. We can certainly give another role to Papa Goose.

Since doing Aladdin was brought up earlier in the thread, I decided I'd just leave these here as I was listening to them just now.
Good choices, though I am partial to these:
Is now a bad time to mention that I've never actually watched Aladdin? Like, not even clips....
There are three movies and a TV show, both with iconic voices for the Genie, Robin Williams and Homer Simpson (no, I'm not joking).

Hold Me Now
Hold Me Now

It was a sunny Monday morning in Beverly Hills. While most residents were off to work, the O'Brians were still in bed, with Bruce reading from The Bible while Carrie slept peacefully at his side. It was not a lazy day by choice from the O'Brians, but it was not a lazy day by choice as the two stayed up well late into the night with Carrie crying her heart out into Bruce's arms while agonizing in a downward spiral of self-loathing and questioning over how everything turned out, if she had committed some grave sin to lose her father or if she was worthy of anyone in her life, with Bruce always sticking by her side through the pain.

It was undeniable that what Carrie had been going through in recent days since the revelation of Eddie Fisher's scuminess was the absolute worst episode of Carrie's manic-depression. It was as if Carrie was injected with a combination of her lowest point when she quit high school and the personal attack of the Some Nights editing. Only this time it wasn't caused by careless neglect, but by intentional manipulation of a bastard who Carrie had hoped could finally become a part of her life as her father.

Carrie carried intense guilt that either she was somehow responsible for Eddie abandoning his family or she should have seen the obvious of his manipulations as Bruce had suspected and not been so "gullible or stupid" in missing the red flags, even though she wanted dearly something that never should have been absent.

Carrie had also developed an intense paranoia that rivaled Bruce's anxiety when it came to conducting business. The betrayal from Eddie in the pursuit of self-gain made Carrie suspicious of seemingly everyone and anyone in her life who she was close to. What if they didn't care for Carrie as a person, but saw her as a means of status or monetary gain. There were countless people who cared deeply for Carrie and once word spread around many of her friends and family tried to show support. But Carrie became withdrawn with the gestures, only trusting Bruce, Todd, and Debbie, staying home for concern of what new pain the outside world would bring.

Bruce tried to do his best to aid his beloved wife in any and every way he could. Unfortunately, there was no blueprint to depression and any books he tried to read presented confusing and contradictory answers and he didn't want to involve doctors until there was absolutely no sign of change. Thus all he could do in the end was comply with Carrie's one request, to stay with her. Since the Dinner, Bruce took time off from Lucasfilms and kept Carrie constant company with occasional visits from Debbie or one of their friends. He would do his best to keep Carrie comfortable, comply with her needs and requests, and make sure to express his love every second and let Carrie know he adored and supported her more than anything. Most importantly, he made sure Carrie knew that she was not alone and they would get through this together.

"Meow."

Well, the four O'Brians, Bruce thought as he watched Ginger give Carrie kisses to her cheek. Since Carrie had fallen into depression, Ginger and Natalie in another surprising show of great intelligence seemed to have a keen sense that Carrie was in a state of constant sadness and each did their best to cheer their beloved mother. For Ginger, it was being glued to Carrie's hip with the Cat either at her feet, in her lap, or cuddling with Carrie as the Scottish Fold was of great aid in helping Carrie to get a good night's sleep with Carrie holding onto her like a stuffed animal. Natalie attempted much of the same as she could with her size, always performing silly antics that managed to bring the most quiet smiles to Carrie and each night sleeping at the foot of their bed instead of her usual spot on a giant pillow on the floor.

Ginger's activities as a furry alarm clock did its job with Carrie slowly being coaxed out of slumber with light giggles at the sandpaper touch. Bruce set the Bible on the nightstand and scooted closer to Carrie, wrapping her in a tight and loving hug and adding to Ginger's greetings with loving kisses of his own on her neck.

"Good morning Princess." Bruce spoke softly.

Carrie stirred awake, and whereas on other days she would greet Bruce with equal affection or high spirits and energy, this morning like others recently, saw her come to a state of doldrum as she regained consciousness. Bruce knew that Carrie wanted to return to her old self, Carrie herself having said so many times, but it was hard to resist depression with a brain biased to it and the stinging pain of betrayal.

"Morning." Carrie said, tired in body and spirit. Bruce gave her a couple more kisses, with Carrie holding onto the blanket of love fiercely as she pet Ginger absently.

"Have any good dreams?" Bruce asked cautiously.

"Didn't dream of anything at all." Carrie replied, although was thankful as it was better than the previous mess of nightmares.

The couple stayed silent for several minutes with only the sounds of Ginger's purrs and the family's breathing filling the room. "Carrie, would you mind if we went out for a picnic today?" Bruce asked cautiously.

"Where?"

"Just Coldwater Canyon. We have a nice late lunch, take the girls out for a walk. Just enjoy the beautiful day." Bruce explained.

Since her sorrows began, Bruce did his best to gently coax Carrie into a return to activity. It didn't have to be anything grandiose, romantic, or related to their careers; just simple things that could keep Carrie's focus and help her to enjoy herself and smile once more.

Had she said no, Bruce would have accepted and kept her company at home, but thankfully it seemed that Carrie was amenable with a slow and unsure nod of the head, "Okay, just give me a little bit. I just want to lay here with you for a while." Carrie softly requested.

"As you wish my Princess." Bruce complied, with Carrie then turning over to look at him lovingly and the two exchanging a single kiss.

A couple of hours later the two headed over to the nearby park which was just a few minutes away from there house. While Bruce could have held an outside picnic in their backyard which was a beautiful mini-jungle in its own right, he wanted Carrie to benefit from moving around and experiencing the beauty of nature while stepping out of her comfort zone, while at the same time it killed two birds by giving the pets some much needed exercise.

Since it was a work day and Summer had come to a close, the couple thankfully were able to receieve some much needed privacy and peace with the park being mostly empty. In fact, the only people who approached them were mothers chaperoning their toddlers and small children and politely asking permission for their kids to pet Ginger and Natalie, both of whom happily soaked up the attention with the innocent display of wonder and joy bringing an earnest smile to Carrie's face.

Bruce set their picnic on a small hill overlooking a nearby pond and playground, serving him and his wife Italian Deli sandwhiches worthy of the Jumping Whale while Ginger and Natalie received bowls of fish, eggs, and chicken. And for Carrie, he made sure to bring a package of double stuf oreos for which she was very grateful.

After lunch the husband and wife spent some time relaxing in the cool California weather. Carrie laid back with Ginger cuddling and resting sweetly on her mother's stomach while Bruce helped to exercise some of Natalie's zoomies by playing catch with a tennis ball, the Dalmatian still having great energy in her age and happily racing down the hill to retrieve the ball, which with Bruce's strength went great distances.

"Bruce, do you ever just wish you were someone else?" Carrie asked in melancholic curiosity.

"Well....when I was little I spent several days getting lost and dreaming I was Conan."

Carrie huffed lightly at the comment, "Typical male fantasies, slaying beasts and rescuing scantily clad women." She said in deadpan, with Bruce laughing at the joke, glad that some of Carrie's wit was seeming to return. "What I mean is, do you ever just wish you were someone else entirely?"

Bruce frowned at the question, ruminating over it slightly as Natalie dutifully retrieved the tennis ball, with Bruce then continuing the game by throwing it at a curve near some bushes. "Well, I do wish a few things in my life happened differently, but I've never really wanted to be someone else entirely. I'm pretty happy with who I am." Bruce answered, the greatest reason being his marriage.

Carrie looked at the sky aimlessly, with Bruce lying back and locking hands with her, "A lot of my life I wished I was someone different, that I could swap places with some other girl. I stopped doing that after I met you, but I wish everything leading up to that was different. A Dad who was present and cares, Mom not being too invested in work, not being judged at school for my name and blood, never being in the spotlight and shoved to the side when it's convenient. But every time I try, I can't think of anything else. Mom and Eddie always aimed high in show business, and that's all I've known, and now all I ever will."

"Maybe in another life Mom would have never moved to California, and you would have been born as a Texan cowgirl ropping cattle and singing at rodeos." Bruce suggested, trying to inject levity into the morbid conversation, which worked somewhat as Carrie's lips curved upward and she gave a brief laugh.

"Honestly the closest idea I come to is growing up in New York. I wish I knew you longer and it's a nice city. Maybe Mom could have been a Broadway Socialite." Carrie wondered.

"Broadway Socialites don't usually have reasons to bring their daughters to Hell's Kitchen." Bruce pointed out. "Even if we did know each other, we would have probably lost contact as I went to Hollywood to become a star." A situation which Bruce shared with many of his childhood friends, his old bonds only having been rekindled thanks to running into Sean.

"I could have followed you to Hollywood." Carrie suggested, presenting a rather silly image of a 13 year old running away with her 15 year old friend to the other side of the country.

Bruce leaned in and gave Carrie a gentle kiss, "I'm happy with how we met, of when we met." He said firmly.

Carrie sighed and leaned towards him, her hand gripping his tighter. "I'm sorry that I'm being such a burden to you. You shouldn't have to-"

"You are not a burden." Bruce interrupted fiercely. "You never have been. You have a right to be sad, and even without your mind I think anyone would be just as sad if they went through what happened. I am so happy that you are my wife and I wouldn't change a single thing about Carrie O'Brian. You're perfect just the way you are."

"Even now?" Carrie asked in disbelief.

"Even now."

Any continued talks were interrupted by the returning presence of Natalie, delivering the tennis ball to Bruce with some dirt on her paws and walking over and greeting Carrie with a barrage of kisses, washing away at least for the moment her misery.

The two then spent a couple of hours wandering through the park, walking at a leisurely pace while Ginger and Natalie stayed by their side, every so often venturing out to explore some strange smell. It was a quiet adventure for the two spouses whereas on previous trips they could talk about everything and anything, but in some respects it was a necessary peace, just taking comfort in each other's company and enjoying the relaxing day, their love shared silently and strongly.

When they arrived back at their home, Bruce noticed in excitement that the post office dropped off a Sears package containing a badminton set that he had ordered. The other day while talking with Gavin on the phone, his elder brother shared with Bruce that he had recently gotten into the sport and played with it frequently with his girlfriend Susan on many a beach date. Bruce had originally just intended it for a fun hobby for him and Carrie, but it's arrival was a very welcome distraction from her sadness by the curiosity of a new sport, and thankfully Carrie was intrigued enough to agree to play. Thus Bruce set up the net and looked to cap the day with some fun athletics as him and Carrie were usually to do.

Bruce 1!+30+30=61
Carrie 98+20+30-20=128!

In a complete reversal of Bruce's stunning debut as a surfer, his journey in badminton began with an absolutely abysmal and humiliating defeat to Carrie. While Bruce was great at boxing and marksmanship, it seemed he had abysmal hand eye coordination with wacking small round objects, something that he should have remembered from long buried childhood trauma of attempting to try for little league and crashing harder than the Hindenburg. Bruce took a couple of minutes just to be able to serve the shuttlecock, and when Carrie served or hit back, he kept on fumbling the interception and overshot with his large body making defense a clumsy mess.

Carrie on the other hand took to badminton as a seasoned veteran despite it also being her first time. She had excellent power swings and could intercept almost everything that Bruce sent her way. As time passed, Carrie had excellent control of the shuttlecock and could launch it to the other side with pinpoint precision while also making some incredible saves when Bruce nearly had a perfect shot. Neither O'Brian kept score, but Bruce was sure that if they did then Carrie would be well into the hundreds while he would struggle in thee double digits, only just barely managing to achieve some semblance of gameplay at the end of their match while his points only happened because Carrie didn't play at her hardest.

They played for an hour and by the end Bruce was sweating and just as exhausted as he if he went the distance in the ring. Bruce collapsed on the backyard grass, sweating like a pig and panting like a dog, his rest disturbed by Natalie who trotted over and started licking the sweat from his body like she was at a buffet, lifting Bruce's spirits from the defeat.

Carrie walked over and knelt besides Bruce, petting Natalie's head. She wore a soft smile that didn't seem to match her eyes which were still distant and lost, but far less than before with Carrie's body language being greatly relaxed.

Bruce smiled at the sight. While he hadn't gone in with the intention, it seemed his old tactic of cheering Carrie through humiliation partially worked. "Was that revenge for the surfing?" Bruce asked cheekily.

"Maybe." Carrie joked. "For an Olympian you have the grace of lethargic jock. I thought one of the Emerald Splash's features was his speed?"

"It is, I guess I've just been out of practice for martial arts. That and I won gold by punching a 190 pound statue, not diving after birdies."

"Well I guess this cancels any chance of us participating in a celebrity tennis tournament." Carrie said, with Bruce nodding in relief.

"I'll go take a shower and then get started on dinner. Any requests?" Bruce asked as he slowly stood back up.

"I don't know, something Irish." Bruce then walked to the house and then stopped as Carrie called his name.

"Thank you for this Bruce, and for all the work and effort you've been doing." Carrie said sincerely.

Bruce gave her an earnest smile, "Sure, it's my pleasure."

After dinner, Bruce and Carrie spent the rest of the night on the couch watching CBS shows, including the latest episode of season six of MASH. While Bruce felt the show had lost some of its magic from his days, thankfully the Korean War comedy-drama was still going relatively strong and was leagues above most of television. For a while after his firing there was great fears that the show would become cancelled with millions of fans swearing they wouldn't watch without Bruce, but fortunately the grand boycott never happened as Bruce would do a solid for Lucy and his old castmates and gave an interview where he explained that there was no hard feelings on his end from the separation and gave his full support for the show's continuation. While Season 5 did see a dip in ratings from its peak, it was still the highest-watched show on TV.

That night didn't see a repeat of previous fun tv nights with engaged discussion and animated reactions to the latest episodes, but it was a quiet and peaceful affair with Bruce and Carrie snuggling close on the couch while Natalie slept on a nearby chair she shared with Ginger who burrowed herself into the Dalmatian like a puppy.

"Bruce, why did you stay with MASH?" Carrie asked softly.

"Huh?" Bruce was slightly confused on why Carrie was asking when she was a direct witness to the MASH drama and acted as his confidant during the negotiations as it took place at the very beginning of their relationship.

"They treated you so horribly, your first major role and you were spat on and abused like dirt while people almost died. Why would you come back again after that? Why did you remain an actor? Why stay in this rotten town?" Carrie questioned in a somber tone.

Picking up the alarming subtext of her line of questions, Bruce ruminated over his contemporary reaction and feelings and stay silent for a while as he sought to answer as best he could and not lead Carrie down any disastrous paths. When the show went to commercial, he answered.

"Well I guess there's three reasons why. Firstly, everyone else was so eager to give it another shot with guaranteed benefits and new working conditions. They were all looking to me to join them and were hoping I'd say yes, said they wouldn't do the show without me, and part of me didn't want to let them down and deny what could have been a great show." Bruce answered.

"That's a dirty tactic." Carrie said with a hint of disapproval.

Bruce lightly chuckled at the statement, "A bit, but they never meant anything malicious. They could have just as easily folded with CBS and kick me to the curb, some scrawny no-name kid, but they stood up for me, fought for my chance, I didn't want to spurn the favor. Secondly, when I was thinking about what to do, I kept on thinking to Dad. If we didn't give him that role in Five Dates, he'd probably always hold onto that regret of never getting a chance til the day he died."

"Was he always bitter?" Carrie asked in concern.

Bruce shook his head, "Oh it's nothing like that. He does genuinely love the life he built afterwards and he's always been happy running the bar with mom. It's just that being denied his chance and never coming close to a good role always nagged at him like a tiny bit of phantom pain. I can accept that there might be some point in my future where I'm not an actor, but I want to end things on my terms, retire when I'm ready, not because I was forced to by others." It was a way of life that he didn't get with MASH, but the loss of his days as Radar O'Reily had been bittersweet with emphasis on sweet, as while one door closed greater ones had opened with Lucasfilms.

"But the third and probably greatest reason was you." Bruce said sweetly, giving Carrie a gentle kiss on the forehead.

Carrie turned around in his arms, looking at him in bewilderment. "Me? But I never pushed you to stay, I just supported you through those negotiations and approved of whatever you did. We just started dating."

Bruce released a sigh, "I know, but right before I met you was probably among the worst days in my life. I went through hell on set, was making enemies left and right, didn't have any friends, and Cat just got blacklisted and was leaving the country. I felt that Hollywood was a hostile land that had it out for O'Brians and was doing everything they could to push me to leave. There were so many nights I genuinely wanted to quit and head back to New York, go to college, run the bar, do something else with my life."

Bruce then strengthened his embrace of Carrie to show his loving gratitude, "But then I met you, the love of my life, someone who showed that I belonged in this town, someone who makes me so happy and brings color and joy everyday with all the little things about her. Ever since we met, even though life's thrown some nasty curveballs, things have just been so much wonderful. I met your family, met John and Robin, started working on movies with George, went high in my boxing career, we made movies together. These past four years have really been the best of my life."

"But most of those things didn't have anything to do with me directly." Carrie protested.

"I would have never experienced any of that if I quit my career and left town. I stayed because I met this wonderful girl named Carrie, and you made my decision to come to Hollywood the greatest one I ever made."

At Bruce's words, Carrie began to cry strongly, but for the first time since that awful dinner, they had been tears of joy.

"I love you."

"I know."

Hope I don't make a great mistake and I shall place my faith in Magoose Dice's simpery and add the +10. With that the Carrie action should be +40, which barring a crit fail will be a success.

Thought it might be useful when we produce the film

Alright then, when we make the movie we should get better actors, and we make the suggestions for a different ending. As the video mentions, there's no need for Van Dorn and Niki to fall in love, but some appreciation and/or help would be better for the film. Perhaps the ending where she dies might even work, as it shows Van Dorn's tranformation in some way as he now displays how much he's grown through the movie.

Point is, it can be better.

James…I have nothing. We need an actor around Bruce's age who can do decent martial arts and a British accent, preferably an actual Brit, but I couldn't find anyone who fits that description. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

We could always train an actor to be proficient in Kung Fu but that's a gamble and will take a couple months at minimum. My candidate for this role would be Jean-Claude Van Damme. Of my research, he's the only guy available for the role whose the right age and is experienced in martial arts, having practiced Karate and kickboxing. Main issues are that Jean-Claude didn't start acting until 1982 and I'm not sure if he has a thick accent or not. So we either have to make an Omake of him moving to America, or provide some justification for why Lucasfilms was auditioning in Belgium.

How about Hans "Dolph" Lundgren? He is a polyglot and has trained in martial arts since he was 7. Only problem is I'm not exactly sure when did he start acting.

And All Things Begin with Great Triumph

-[X]Carrie: Brian is done, and is happy with his film, now he just needs to release the thing. DC: 0 Rolled:D100 => 69

You were honestly surprised that the religious right didn't throw a fit about this film succeding. Their attempts to boycott the film were laughable and even got the whole thing… well more popular.

Now if only you would stop getting mail calling you a god-hating man.

(Continued in: Carrie)

-[X]The Strange Sight, of Steve Spielberg: Steve is now back from filming, and he's bringing a friend into the fold, a young man by the name of… Robert… whatever the hell his last name is, you cannot even say that. DC: 20 Rolled:D100 => 35

Robert Zemeckis. That was his name and honestly, you didn't really know what else to say to the man, but he was a screenwriter that had worked with Steve since Universal, who came over on his request.

Well, now he was here and joined the writer's room, and made fast friends with everyone.

Reward: Robert Zemeckis has joined the writer's room.

Something tells you he wants to start producing and making movies with Steve, and he wants to start doing it too.

Next year, he will produce scripts in the writer's room.

Next Year, the Directors are going to want to be assigned films... or get budgets approved for their own personal projects as Star Wars is going to be bringing in the moeny.

You think you may have tried a little too hard for Carrie. And when this film came out… it was not nearly as good of a response.

-[X]How Can I Help You?: You looked Carrie in the eye and placed your forehead on hers. You just wanted to make her smile again, and that was all you wanted. DC: ??? Rolled:D100 + 40 => 128

You and Carrie were just laying in bed, and you were holding her in your arms, comforting her after another long night. But she was not crying anymore, so you expected quite a bit of… well… improvement.

But instead, she just looked at you and you could feel her pent-up emotions waiting to boil over. "What is it Carrie?" you asked.

Carrie was quiet. As if her voice was robbed from her and she did not have the ability to speak. But then a whisper shattered the silence. "I…" Her hug got tighter and she finally said more than one word. "Bruce… Do you think I should quit acting?"

That made you raise an eyebrow. "Why would you want to do that?" You said quietly, not raising your voice, but instead keeping it soft and measured. Despite the question catching you off guard.

"Everyone wants to abuse me, to use me in their films as just another thing and discard me once I am just… done. There is really nothing more that I offer them except a pretty face and a happy smile." She said. "No starlet ever really lasts in this town, so why should I be any different."

You narrowed your eyes. "Well, that's because you are no starlet and not just any starlet. You are the greatest actress alive." Your compliment seemed to do justice, as she seemed to crack a smile and her eyes looked up into your own. "A brilliant writer, and my lovely wife."

"You succeed in whatever you put your mind to, and I know that like all bad things, they will pass."

There was a moment that passed before she pressed her lips against yours. "I love you." She whispered. It was not going to be the end of her struggles, but it would help her come, farther, than before.

"I know." You whispered as you returned the kiss.

Reward: You and Carrie talk, and you give her a little talk to make her feel better.

-[X]Todd Reynolds Freshman Fuckups: He got drunk and needs some help. Thankfully he only crashed his car into a light pole, but he needs your help. DC: 30 Rolled:D100 => 64

You were at the police station and you were not happy as you signed the paperwork and paid the fine with your pocket money. That was enough to make things interesting… yet you were very unhappy when you saw Todd look at you.

"Don't say anything, get into the fucking car." You ordered and Todd did as you told him, and he walked to your car. And you looked to the officer. "I hope this won't happen again."

"Surprised his mother didn't come to pick him up." Then his eyebrows raised as you took off your sunglasses. "Holy god."

"I think it would be best that you not talk to the media about this. I've got enough to worry about." You stated. "From his mother and sister."

"Well, Bruce I just wanna say this, before you leave, helped a lot of me and my guys out who were in Nam. If you need anything, just call." He replied.

"Hopefully I won't." You replied as you walked across the room, and walked to your car.

Todd was waiting. You entered the driver's seat and looked at him. "What the fuck were you thinking?"

"It was the end of the night, and i-"

"The fuck were you thinking, you are underage, and you got into a car accident on a light post!" You shouted. "What if it was a car, what if someone got killed!?"

Todd was silent. "Fuck sake Todd, I know you were better than this, but now I-"

"My friend was behind the wheel, and if he was the one, he would have been arrested and probably sent to prison," Todd replied. "He already had a charge on him, and lost his license."

You frowned and you thought for a few minutes. "So you weren't behind the wheel?"

"No." He replied. "Only after the accident."

You sighed. Great more things. "While noble of you Todd, I don't want your life to get ruined by your kindness to others." You took a breath. "Be very lucky that I understand enough to go and tell your mother."

"Just stay out of trouble. Cause I would rather pick you up from prison than identify your body at the morgue."

It was silent the rest of the way home.

Dad was not happy when he heard about the plans. "You mean to tell me that you wanted to restore the island by drawing all your money in and just, attempting it?"

"You already said you got through much of the renovations through the city council and planning commission." You stated. "I'm just trying to get it open next year hopefully."

"I appreciate your help Bruce, but I can handle it." He stated. "It's bad enough that I have to deal with your fans and the city council wondering if you are the one behind all this when it's me and the rest of the city trying to save the Island."

"I know Dad, but I just want to help."

"Son, I know you want to help, but it's also making it more difficult for us to actually get things done, and it's also getting the governor's office involved, and they are asking quite a lot of questions that I don't have the answers for."

"They should all know I'm a proud new yorker." You stated.

"And I just want you to not give so much money for supplies, I've already got a few donators trying to help the park and it doesn't require you." Your father's voice had a hint of bitterness in it.

You asked. "Dad, is it about-"

"No, it's not Bruce." He replied, unspoken feelings were beginning to surface. "I…" He sighed. "I heard about what happened with Carrie, and you should focus on her well-being, not some fancy project that will survive without you."

"Dad don't change the subject." You stated.

"I'm changing it because I don't want you to bury yourself in work or distractions and regret not being with the woman you love when she needs you the most." Your father replied. "I don't want you to have regrets like i do."

Reward: Your father imparts some wisdom for you, and you have basically brought Coney Island back from the dead.

It will open next year in the summer.

Eh, can't win them all. And while I'd have loved to have Bruce interact with Frank Herbert, at least he's speaking with us so we can try and get the rights for the movies at some later point.

I'm going to enjoy the future actions, and what may come after this. It's such a shame what happened with the Lone Wolf and Cub movie though, it was the most anticipated entry and now it just..flops.

...Wait a moment. This is a 3 month turn. Are you telling me we released Lone Wolf and Cub on the same month as Carrie when we could've done it earlier or later?! Because I'm assuming we released Carrie in October, right?
It was released in September.

Carrie just uh... Ate up, theater goers.

I think we may have made best friends with Stephan King. :V
