Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Shopping For A Home: A Thousand & One Nights:

John Musker and Ron Clements were feeling dejected and frustrated as they left the Disney studios, having been unceremoniously fired from their positions as directors. Friends since the day they'd met on The Fox and the Hound, their letting go by Disney was not at all soul crushing; even their friends in the department, like Don Bluth, had wanted to join suit...but with the lack of options, all John and Ron were left with were contact numbers and old friends. But they weren't ready to give up on their dream of making great animated films, so they decided to shop their latest pitch around to other studios. Most had reacted about the same to their every pitch, that of subtle WASP derision to their more...worldy concepts, while others had been reluctant to pick up Disney's refuse, a black mark on their record that continued to follow them. And when they finally had arrived to a prospective buyer, it was their luck that Warner Bros. began its downward spiral and left the deal up in smoke, leaving them once more without a job...still, they'd gotten their first good paychecks in months that left them able to stay afloat a couple weeks longer.

Eventually, when even that money had almost entirely dried up, the both of them had picked up a job with LucasFilm as editors, squeezing every once of skill in talent in new directions to make the new bosslady happy...which wasn't hard, as Marcia Lucas was one of the most supportive bosses they had ever had. It was in this way they were eventually dragged into one of Robin Williams' performances and they were entranced.

When they finally got back to the office, they dug through their pile of rejected scripts and pitches from Disney until they found what they were looking for. Spending months developing the story, working tirelessly to craft a narrative that would capture the magic of the original while also offering something fresh and unique, they eventually approached Marcia's office and asked if she wouldn't mind setting up a meeting with the execs for a future project. After hearing what they had to offer, she smiled lightly and nodded.

"If that's what you want," she said softly, looking turn at the both of them, "Will be a shame to loose editors like you, but I can see where you're coming from- that same spark."

A week later, when they entered the exec office of George, Bruce and Mike, they felt a sense of nervous excitement. This was their chance to pitch their idea to a new audience, and to prove that they still had what it took to make great animated films.

It started slow, but picked up speed as their excitement grew.

"Discover a whole new world in LucasFilm Unlimited's Aladdin, set in the vibrant and colorful city of Kashgar, in the Xinjiang region of China. Follow the young and street-smart Uyghur protagonist, Aladdin, as he navigates the bustling markets and alleyways of Kashgar, struggling to survive and make a name for himself. Everything changes when Aladdin meets Princess Nazife, a headstrong and independent Uyghur princess who longs for a life beyond the palace walls. The two soon realize they have more in common than they ever imagined, and embark on a magical adventure together.

But their journey is not without danger, as the power-hungry Chinese official Zhang Ming seeks to control the city and crush the Uyghur people's cultural heritage. With the help of a mischievous genie and a loyal group of friends, Aladdin and Nazife must fight to protect their way of life and save their city from Zhang Ming's tyranny.

Featuring stunning Uyghur architecture, music, dance, and cuisine, this version of Aladdin is a celebration of the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the Uyghur people. It's a fun and thrilling adventure that will transport audiences to a whole new world of wonder and imagination, while also shedding light on the real-world challenges faced by the Uyghur people today.

Get ready to experience a whole new world of magic, music, and culture in LucasFilm Unlimited's Aladdin." John finished, breathing slightly heavy as Ron finished with their brief slideshow. Moments pass, as the execs judge them silently, before:

"In your slideshow, I noticed that Genie has an uncanny resemblance to my pal Robin...coincidence?"

"No, that was intentional," Ron said, wringing his palms a bit, "He's our main, and only, choice for the role. There's just so much that-"

"Why set the story in Kashgar?" interrupted George Lucas, almost imperiously, "Isn't the original tale Middle Eastern."

"The original story was set in Ancient China and considering Kashgar's location on the Silk Road, we considered this an appropriate compromise."

"And considering the Uyghur's current circumstances, we felt that it added to the depth of the story." John threw in offhandedly.

"I'm sorry, who?" asked Mike Eisner, having perked up at John's answer, looking like he'd dropped a line of questioning they weren't quite sure how to answer yet, "And what current circumstances?"

"I think we did good," John said as they walked away from the offices, stencil and artwork underhand.

"I think that I need a drink," Ron muttered, ignoring the loud yelling that erupted from the office as they left, "That was stressful."

"Hey, at least we didn't get kicked out this time...and still have jobs."

A/N: Certain names were changed to fit the altered setting; Jafar is now Zhang Ming [Ming meaning "bright" and "clear" hints at his cunning], Jasmine is now Nazife [Nazife meaning "virtuous" and "honorable" hinting at the strength of her character.]
In the 1970s, the Uyghur people were living in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China, which was established in 1955. During this time, the Chinese government was implementing policies aimed at modernizing and assimilating minority groups into mainstream Chinese culture.

One of the main policies implemented was the "Great Leap Forward," which aimed to rapidly industrialize China and increase agricultural productivity. This policy had a significant impact on the Uyghur people, as it led to the forced collectivization of agriculture and the suppression of Uyghur cultural practices.

In addition, the Chinese government implemented strict controls on religious practices, which impacted the Uyghur people, who are predominantly Muslim. Mosques were closed, and religious leaders were persecuted.

If a version of Aladdin set in Kashgar had been made in the 1970s, it would have likely had to navigate the political and cultural challenges of the time. It may have been difficult to address the issues faced by the Uyghur people directly, as the Chinese government had strict controls on media and censorship.

However, the film could have still incorporated themes of cultural identity and resistance, as well as showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Uyghur people. It could have also highlighted the challenges faced by minorities in China, and promoted a message of tolerance and understanding.

Overall, if a version of Aladdin set in Kashgar had been made in the 1970s, it would have had to navigate a complex political and cultural landscape. But it could still have been a powerful and impactful film, highlighting important issues and promoting greater awareness of the struggles faced by the Uyghur people.

During the Great Leap Forward, the Chinese government implemented policies aimed at modernizing and assimilating minority groups into mainstream Chinese culture. These policies had a significant impact on the cultural practices of the Uyghur people, many of which were suppressed or discouraged.

Some examples of Uyghur cultural practices that were suppressed during the Great Leap Forward include:

1. Music and dance: Uyghur music and dance are an important part of their cultural heritage, but during the Great Leap Forward, the Chinese government discouraged the practice of traditional music and dance in favor of more modern forms.

2. Religious practices: The Uyghur people are predominantly Muslim, but during the Great Leap Forward, the Chinese government implemented strict controls on religious practices. Mosques were closed, and religious leaders were persecuted.

3. Traditional dress: Uyghur traditional dress is colorful and distinctive, but during the Great Leap Forward, the Chinese government encouraged people to wear more modern clothing and discouraged the wearing of traditional dress.

4. Language: Uyghur is a Turkic language that is distinct from Mandarin Chinese, but during the Great Leap Forward, the Chinese government encouraged the use of Mandarin Chinese and discouraged the use of Uyghur.

5. Food and cuisine: Uyghur cuisine is known for its unique flavors and spices, but during the Great Leap Forward, the Chinese government discouraged the use of traditional ingredients and promoted more standardized, modern cuisine.

Orion, I love it! It makes every complaint I had null and void, and I'm looking forward to seeing just what else may come up from this pair of madlad geniouses!

Just a small nitpick, but both Musker and Clements met each other when they worked together at The Fox and the Hound, but there are enough butterflies to justify having them met earlier, probably because of the harsher conditions for animators means they have to stick together all the more if they want to show a united front...not that it helped them that much, but at least it means we get their talent for us.

Just a suggestion; perhaps add that there are rumors of Lucasfilm creating an animation department, or how Bruce O'Brian has been talking about animation films and the future, that way it makes a bit more sense that they go to Lucasfilm with their pitch since they don't have an animation department yet.
the constant glitching formatting for the Undertale pitch is making me lose my goddamn fucking mind

pls send help
Well, are you trying to mix all routes into a single pitch? Because that's going to be a headache and a half I tell you.

Well, are you trying to mix all routes into a single pitch? Because that's going to be a headache and a half I tell you.
Nah, I decided a while ago that because of my schedule picking up and bouts of lost motivation, that I would just do True Pacifist Route as the film and do a TV show to cover all 3 routes. I was bitching about the formatting on SV, specifically regarding the Spoilers and centering text. I'm fucking losing it and trying to not get everything to glitch the fuck out and stay neat.

Yeah, that's fair. Will add that in there.

While I left the bulk of the Office Argument open to interpretation, because that's honestly a more interesting story end, I will say that Bruce wanting that animation here and now is very much one of the arguments being brought up in there, since I see that as an old argument between George, Bruce and Mike.

"The fuck we know about animation?"
"Where's the money coming from?"
"BUT MAH IDEAZ- Fine, I'll be the responsible adult...for now."

Well that's good...except production for the film began in 1977. But I think that's good, perhaps they decided to try a year earlier this time around.

MY muse hates me, because I'm currently working on a Spider-Man Noir pitch that seeks to exploit the amount of crime/gangster films around this era while also paying homage to a future version of Spider-Man with a lot of potential. And I'm working on a quest as well. :V

Featuring Communist Chameleon, More Murder Than Zeb Wells Committed, Paste-Pot Pete, & An Author Being Held Hostage By His Muse.

Help. :V

[]Beginning of the Strangeness of Lucasfilm Animation (Unknown Effect)
[]I hate Disney (Someone at Disney begins spreading rumors)
[]Mike Eisner believes that Animation is a future (Animation department is now discounted)
...and now I'm left to guess. I'm gonna assume that the first one provides a creative bonus to the Studio, the second makes it easier to steal talent from Disney, the third is supposedly obvious in function, and considering everything else going on, that means there's only one option:

[X] Beginning of the Strangeness of Lucasfilm Animation (Unknown Effect)

Let the ghosts start haunting.

The Moment Is Coming Turn 48 (September 1976)
The Moment Is Coming Turn 48 (September 1976)

You and Carrie were both sitting next to each other, and you were sure she was not going to be happy. She was clearly thinking about a lot of things, and the last few nights had been painful for both of you. She had cried herself to sleep, wondering if she was at fault for anything.

And it was angering you in more ways than anything else, because dammit, you just didn't know what to do. Eddie Fisher was an asshole, a man who clearly wanted money, power and had an ego to match. It was amazing that the man was still in this town, considering how much he had fallen off a cliff since Carrie was born and Debbie was divorced.

But to try and manipulate his daughter into trying to work with him, and get paid for it? It was sickening. Almost enough to make you want to try and do something stupid, but you were only stopped by thinking of the consequences.

And those consequences would only hurt Carrie rather than help her.

So you just sat with her, allowing her to weep into your arms before you whispered. "What can I do to help you?"

She just hugged you tightly and managed to whisper out. "Stay with me."

And it was the hardest thing you felt you had ever done.

(Note we will be going through three months like in June turn, wanna finally get to some goddamn Star Wars)

Alright, we're obviously doing Carrie and the options with Steven. Being there for our wife and brother is a must, and we should release the sequel to Lone Wolf and Cub if only because fans will be flocking the theaters to make sure Itto and Daigoro are fine. Besides that, I think we can try and meet Frank Herbert again this turn, what do you think?

--[X] Housing Development [$15 Million]: After having read Ildefons Cerdà's original plans for Barcelona [during one of your visits to the Library with Carrie], you've come to realize that with your considerable capital you could actually implement his plans on a widescale level and improve the lives of ordinary folk by a considerable margin. In that vein, you've decided to take a look a look at various locations throughout the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area that would suit your project and taking steps to reach out to a reputable Civil Engineer to bring your vision to life, one where a developed urban center and affordable apartment housing can coexist with nature in harmony, with everything the common man needs; you also plan to leave space for higher educational and religious centers, but the priority is that people can live here relatively peacefully and without fear of unreasonable oversight, where parents don't have to be afraid for their children's safety.

Basically, this is a plan to help Bruce help the most amount of people as possible. That's it, that's the story.

I agree on the Frank Herbert part, especially because it is our last opportunity to do so before we release star wars

[X] Plan Carrie Support
-[X]Carrie: Brian is done, and is happy with his film, now he just needs to release the thing. DC: 0
-[X]The Strange Sight, of Steve Spielberg: Steve is now back from filming, and he's brining a friend into the fold, a young man by the name of… Robert… whatever the hell his last name is, you cannot even say that. DC: 20

-[X]Investments: You want to invest your hard-earned cash into something that you feel will be a good return on investment. And as well as diversify your assets DC: 0 (Linetail what you wish to invest in below this action, and the amount of money you want to invest in)
--[X] Coney Island Restoration. $10 Million
-[X]The Friendship and Brotherhood of George Lucas: George wants to hang out and have fun. DC: 30
--[X] Invite George and Marcia over to the house for a nice Dinner. Cook some favorites for the two Lucas' and arrange a nice and casual double date night to have some fun before Star Wars and help Carrie relax.
-[X]Pray: It had been a long time since you went to Mass. You wish for the Lord to give you strength. DC: ???
-[X]Calling You're Parents: You are going to call your parents and see what they want. DC: 10
-[X]Networking: Well time to start finding out who might actually be interested in meeting you. (Write-in what you want to try and network with)
--[X] Frank Herbert

So for this turn I once again have to concede to some of our more ambitious business stuff because we should dedicate our time to being there for Carrie and helping her on the road to recovery. That should come before all things and we should mainly do the minimum for Lucasfilms stuff and just focus on family.

So for Lucasfilms stuff, do Carrie and make sure Brian has a great film out to help the company break out into horror. Chill with Steve and perhaps get a boost on Close Encounters. Have no idea who this Robert is, but maybe Robert Downey Jr.?

Distribute Lone Wolf and Cub. It's a high demand movie, gives us a huge boost of money for the Warner War, and we should only stick to one to not compete with Carrie.

Help Carrie on the road to recovery above all else. Be there for her and help move past her bastard father. Also help Todd in his time of need as a good brother. Although Magoose, when I asked for more Todd stuff, I did not mean hiding his DUI from Debbie, lol.

Invest in Coney Island to help it go to completion and do something great for New York. Help bring jobs to the local economy and keep a nice slice of NY history preserved.

For George, the last time we did a double date worked wonders and here I think it'll do good. Help the Lucas' relax after two years on Star Wars and just have a good night. Also help Carrie by giving her a fun time of company with good friends.

Pray as always when things are dire and it'll hopefully help with Carrie most of all.

Call parents to perhaps ask for advice with Carrie and what to do in times of stress during marriage.

Network with Frank because after this he'll hate us thanks to wrong perceptions of Star Wars if we do nothing.

Everywhere, All At Once In A Café:

George Lucas sat in the corner of a small café, sipping his coffee and lost in thought. Only a few more months and then finally, Star Wars would be released on (hopefully) Christmas...and the pressure was mounting. Suddenly, he noticed a man walk in and take a seat at a nearby table. He nodded at the man, before going back to his musings. Time passed, with minimal disturbance until the man approached him, and it was only then that he vaguely realized that the man was Frank Herbert, an author whom Bruce had wanted him to meet with, regarding perceived similarities between their stories. They exchanged pleasantries, Herbert himself having noted a similar situation on his end, that of a man whom his own son had wanted to meet with...and soon found themselves deep in conversation. One thing led to another [ie. he had no idea why the discussion drifted that way], and soon they were discussing their respective works, they began to explore the themes and philosophical underpinnings of their stories.

As George Lucas and Frank Herbert sat in the café, sipping their coffee, they delved deep into a philosophical discussion about the virtues they saw in the world and in their respective series. Lucas began by arguing that the Star Wars universe was founded on the virtues of hope, courage, and selflessness. He believed that these virtues were essential to the human experience, and that they were the key to creating a better world. Herbert, however, saw things differently. He believed that the pursuit of power was a fundamental human drive, and that the universe was inherently chaotic. He saw his own work, Dune, as a cautionary tale about the dangers of power and the need for balance.

Lucas objected, saying that the Star Wars universe was also about balance, but in a different way. He argued that the Jedi, who represented the light side of the Force, were in a constant struggle to maintain balance against the dark side of the Force. He believed that this struggle was essential to the survival of the universe. Herbert countered that the notion of balance was a fallacy, and that the universe was constantly in flux. He argued that the pursuit of control and order could lead to tyranny and oppression, and that it was the unpredictability of the universe that made life meaningful.

Lucas acknowledged Herbert's point, but argued that the pursuit of hope and selflessness was not about control or order, but about creating a better world. He believed that by inspiring people to act with courage and selflessness, he could help make the world a more just and equitable place. Herbert agreed that this was a noble goal, but cautioned against the dangers of idealism. He argued that the pursuit of power and control was a fundamental drive in human nature, and that it was important to acknowledge this drive in order to create a more balanced and sustainable world.

As the conversation drew to a close, Lucas and Herbert started floundering for answers and a calm quiet fell over them for a time.

"Do you ever wonder why we're here?" asked George suddenly, having enough of the silence.

"It's one of life's great mysteries, isn't it? Why are we here? I mean, are we the product of some... cosmic coincidence? Or is there really a God, watching everything, you know, with a plan for us and stuff. I don't know man, but it keeps me up at night." Frank said, al;ready on his seventh cup of coffee that day and really enjoying his eclair.

"No?" George said, confused "I mean...well yes, but I meant why are we out here, in this café?"

"Oh, my son wanted out into the city."

"I was supposed to meet with my wife- and I'm forty-five minutes late. She's gonna kill me." George said, scrambling.

"Ah, my apologies." Frank said, passing him his phone number on a napkin, "Call me when that get's settled...or don't, and I'll file the police report."

A/N: Been saved on my phone since last week, completely forgot about this one.
