Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Season 1 Synopsis:

17-year-old Morgan Winters lives with her loving, and ten-years-older sister Felicia in Baltimore. With their parents passing a few years back, Felica now works as a woman computer ammeniable to change to support them both. The long hours tore time away from the two sisters, and with Morgan being alone at home most of the night she's grown into somewhat of a responsible, if not independent young adult. Where her sister will be at work, Morgan would get out of school, purchase groceries from the store, clean and cook a warm meal at home- not just for herself but her sister too when she stumbled up the apartment stairway, exhausted after another long day at work.

All seemed fine until water bursts out from a wall closet in their living room, spewing like a geyser until a man flies out, sprawling against the floor and quickly backing away on his ass, eyes locked dead straight into the closet he came from as he scrambles backwards, pulling himself with his arms and pushing weakly against the floor. His back presses against the opposite wall, the gun that came through with him, on the floor next to him. Realising this he lunges to grab it, to then return to staring at the dark of the closet space, gun pointed straight at it. With the wait being so long, and the only sounds being the panted breath of the intruder the sisters recover from their shock and their flight instinct. Felicia grabs Morgan, (A/N: and her gun maybe? it's two women living alone) and they sprint to the door to escape.

That's when they attack. From the floor, behind the walls- everywhere but that closet that man had his gun trained on- screaming, banging, scraping, monstrous figures coated in fur and rock alike burst out from all places in the apartment. A monster leaps out from the now-open front door, tackling Morgan as it passes and bearing its gemstone teeth into her skin. Felicia fights it off (maybe uses that gun if she has one?) and kills it. There are more monsters outside the apartment. The two women back further into their apartment. After expending his initial bullet, the man brandishes a hand axe and a knife and kills some of the created in the confined space of their apartment (A/N: as neat as a big axe or a sword might be, it's a pretty stupid weapon for doorways and corridors (I'm looking at you Lockwood & Co)) before reaching the sisters, and quite literally pulling them into another reality.

A dark forest, with no lights, save for starlight. They don't stay for long, they're still being chased. The man drags them till they run with him, to a lake that he runs straight into. The man urges the sisters to follow, and after some coaxing they do.

The three reappear on the outskirts of a town states away from where they just were, and once passing the border are the sisters told they escaped the chase and that they were safe- and they'd finally get answers.

The man was Warren Daly, Felicia's first crush- puppy love, a kid from a summer camp hell they weren't even ten when they met! Those things, they were Goblins, shapeshifting agents of the Fae. They had ambushed Warren, who described himself as a huntsman of sorts, and to escape he used whatever means he could- in this case an anchor back to the mundane world, a strong memory someone had of him. And who can forget their first love so easily? Not many. She had a photograph of him in her closet and that's what he used to travel there. Then came the issue, that scar Morgan carried? She was marked for the hunt, a meal for the great feast. Not just Goblins but other creatures of the Fae too would be drawn to her, and her to them. And that same Goblin that Felicia killed? A sleight against their kind, how dare food fight back. If a bear killed a hunter, wouldn't his kin stand up to hunt? for revenge?

They would be safe here, for the while. many places with strange properties could hide them but. It wouldn't last forever. Warren could protect them for now, and teach them to protect themselves in the long run, but they'd have to keep moving. There are others out there, that know about this world, and have more sway with the Goblins than Warren does- and he intends to chase them down if only to right a wrong, and get these two sisters out of this mess, at least that's what he says. Returning to the forest would be suicide, but travelling between these strange places could hide them even if it would take them longer to travel.

We follow the three on their travels, they're pulled into an encounter after encounter, sometimes from the pull of Morgan's mark, other times to curry favour with Warren's contacts. On the journey we see Warren train Morgan ann Felicia, the latter concerned with how much Morgan seems to enjoy the fights- and unsettled by how Warren would rather maintain the supernatural status quo than what's morally right- but of course, buds of romance still show up between the adults through the season.

This is a dark world, and many creatures of the Fae aren't held by the morals driven into those of the mundane realm. They will stumble on a town run by a disguised Huldrekall- a lesser fae, that truly believes that fae and humans can coexist together... only to secretly murder any mundane that doesn't perfectly fit in his world. They'll find starving homeless, that are unwillingly possessed by Ghouls, immaterial spectres that require an anchor to the mortal realm to survive- but nowhere does it say that their anchor has to be sentient. No, their disdain for mortals leads them to possess, and kidnap them, apparating across the earth as their victims are helplessly dragged along with them. They'll fight Chime Children, witches, and solemn Golems that can only scream.

The season ends with a siege battle with between Goblin underlings and the three along with a militia from a prominent mortal faction, the Monstrum. The mortals win the siege, and reach the chamber of a Goblin Royal, a fae powerful enough to finally save the sisters from the hunt. Several trinkets, deals and promises accumulated throughout the season are used for the bargaing but in the end Warren summons and finally closes a deal with a greater Fae than the Royal that he had met in an earlier episode, giving years of his life in service to the Fae to have the two ladies name's stricken from the hunt.

The Royal mocks Warren, stating how close this ordeal was to the [Fable] of Red Riding Hood; Him as a hunter, saving a girl from being "eaten" by monsters that can disguise themselves as humans. The Royal amusingly points out that he thought Warren in particular was against a [New Age of Fables]. Warren only scoffs, admitting vaguely that he had no choice but to take the risk.

Warren leaves with the Greater Fae. Felicia wonders how the two of them are getting home, Morgan states she plans on joining the Monstrum and has taken a liking to this new world, and definitely not because of the pretty Chime girl that works there, no definitely not.

The season ends with Felicia begging Morgan not to, before the sister runs off to the Monstrum crowd. It fades to black with Felicia undecided if she should go home, or join her sister to make sure she's safe- even though she knows she'll be dragged further into hell.

Important Season 1 Characters:
  • Morgan Winters: An energetic, emotional girl who has been thrown into a hidden and dangerous world against her will. Weak-of-body from a lifetime affliction from Anemia, she must rely on her intelligence and new training to survive the Hunt.

  • Felicia Winters: Morgan's overprotective and sarcastic older sister and a recently-initiated victim of the Hunt like her sister. The first love of the Huntsman "Warren Daly".

  • Warren Daly: The mysterious and often unsympathetic "Huntsman", besides being Felicia's first love, he tries to keep everything about himself close to his chest. But even with his walls up, will first love prevail? Or are there other reasons he's helping the sisters?

  • Therese Auclair: Ward of the Incantati Reactionary Division of the Monstrum Agency, a squid built to quickly react to fae threats in the mortal realm. She is a Charm Child- one born at the perfect location and perfect time, that gives her the gift of true magic- not that weak spellcasting you'd find from any hedgewitch off the street. Despite only showing up for a few episodes, her words stick in Morgan's mind, until finally, she decided to join her and her team.

  • Dr. Richard Light: A brilliant tactician and professional supernatural researcher, head of the Incantati Reactionary Division. He is also the looniest researcher working for Monstrum, with his constant antics and shenanigans driving co-workers mad and causing Monstrum to create an entire list titled: "List of things Dr. Light can't do." However, behind the insane antics and frenetic personality lies an empathetic man who is doing his best to help save the world.

  • Agness Grosse: A vile and cunning Huldrekall acting as the mayor of a small mining town hides under a charming and affable persona. She believes wholeheartedly that a world with Fae and Mortals existing together is possible. Even if she has to kill every mortal to see it through, but that's okay! "Give it ten or so years and their numbers pop right back up."

  • "The Mortal Anchors": Victims of the Ghouls. Will be quite literally displaced in space at any time of the day as their Ghoul possessors travel across the mortal realm. Being unable to sense their supernatural kidnappers, there is no escape. You don't see many of them living long, it's not like a Ghoul would care if they eat or not, or give them enough time to sleep before poofing them off to another continent.

  • The Rotting Golem: A supernatural entity that only appears once this season. While looking like Frankenstein's monster this creature, however, does not share his intelligence. Only being able to scream. It attacked the three on sight on their journey to be cured of Morgan's Mark of the Hunt.

  • The Dubhlachan - Gan Ceann: The ghost of a Hessian soldier killed attempting to protect a family from looters, he is an extremist vigilante who kills any criminal who he crosses, no matter the crime.

  • Tanbalia: A Fae looking like an anthropomorphic cat, above Goblin Royalty in terms of the Fae pecking order. He has plans that we don't know as of yet, but takes great interest in the goings on of mortals.
A/N:
My plan with these changes are as follows.

  • Changing the title of the show away from the name of the monster hunting organisation takes agency away from them- I'm wording it pretty badly but the show is about Morgan, Felicia and the people around them- not necessarily their monster hunting group as a whole.
  • Adding to that, if you want to move away from the hunter group in later seasons it makes more sense than if the show was named after them.
  • Could possibly do what was planned for the Heroes series, it was conceived that seasons could focus on different groups and intermittently bring back past characters. This is why I'm more inclined to the W.O.D. name, besides referring to a bunch of tabletop games I like.
  • When it's not done every other episode, reinterpreting classic fairytales is great. It just needs to be in moderation- unless every episode is as well reinterpreted as Shrek and not just [the minotaur tale but in current year]. Which is why I'd love to make it a whole multi-season arc in future seasons. The more Fables are unintentionally reenacted, the weaker the walls between realms become. Until finally, a [New Age of Fables] begins. Gone are the many realms, just one remains, up is down and black is blue. While the Fae won't care if this Age comes to dawn or not, but it would tear the mortal world asunder.
  • The New Age of Fables: Maybe the final end to the show, someone really wants this to happen.
  • Love is in the Air: You bet your asses Morgan has a slow romance with that Therese girl, at least that's the plan I have :V
  • The Truth About Warren Daly
    • Turns out, it's not actually him! Nah it's a Fae possessing his body. The real Warren was booted out of his body when he was barely 10 and has been trapped as a lost spirit this entire time. Explains the lack of morals. Could be a Changeling? Their whole thing is about stealing kids and being swapped.
    • This Fae is something akin to a ferryman of the dead, when it was created it immediately went to possess a mortal. Ever since he took over Warren's body and booted his soul out, this Fae has been residing in limbo, waiting for lost souls to arrive at his campfire so he can guide them to the Everafter... Until someone showed up, and did something so significant that Fae-Warren ditched his post to chase after him in the mortal realm. Either have him take the body and work in limbo before leaving for some mission in the mundane world, or have him take over Warren's body when he goes to the mortal realm.
    • The Real Warren has lost almost 20 years of his life. He doesn't just want his body back he wants a damn life back too. Hell maybe he's that screaming golem, just wanting his body back.
    • These Fae don't live very long, they're kind of like flies in that way. Their life is tied to the memories the living have of the host body when once possess them, before the Fae took over. Each person that dies makes this Fae weaker too.
    • Felicia just so happens to be the last person with a significant enough connection to keep Fae-Warren alive.
    • Because he ditched his post, and because he's caused so many issues since. The Goblins sent their underlings to kill Felicia so the next "Ferryman" of his domain could be born. So the story Fae-Warren told at the first episode, about being ambushed and escaping to the sister's house through a picture, is a total lie. Well, you can't trust a Fae can you. No morals.
    • Talking of no morals, the only reason this Fae-Warren helped the sisters was to save his own life- if that wasn't clear enough from the above. He just lied and lied and lied.
    • It's up to the viewer to decide if his attraction to Felicia was genuine, a lie, or just a reaction from his possessed body.
    • He's not evil, not really, for all the messed up stuff he's done he's on the good guys team I guess you could say- But I do want there to be a lot of morally grey areas in the show. I want to show the fae have reasons to act like they do, they might lack morals but that doesn't mean they're evil, if that makes any sense?

And Now: Here are the Rolls for Our possible Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Pat Morita:
D100 => 78
Toshiro Mifune:
D100 => 98
Christopher Lee:
D100 => 99

Honestly, I was hoping for Pat or Toshiro.

We have the Legend of Sir Christopher Lee.

This was a battle of Two Shakespearean Titans.

And Pat Morita just didn't do enough to beat them.

And Mifune really wants to work on the Sequel.

Or as I like to say... If there is a sequel, they will have significant bonuses to getting hired.

Hot damn that's a really close battle that I didn't expect, seems Toshiro was really motivated this time and Lee was really vibing with Obi-wan. I'm super torn, both actors can do amazing work with Obi-wan and both are legends in their own right with plenty of positives to choose from. Since there was a one point difference and Toshiro got a 98 and was George's first pick, would George step in and pick Toshiro since unlike Luke and Leia it's too close to call?

If Toshiro appears in the sequel then I'm guessing he would replace Yoda, which while pretty cool in and of itself, does take away the massive role and theme that Yoda played in showing that sizes matters not and power and greatness are nothing in front of wisdom and grace, not to mention how influential Yoda is in the use of puppetry in film.

Damn this is a hell of an outcome. At the very least no matter what we'll get an Obi-wan who knows how to use a lightsaber.

Fuck yeah! We got Christopher Lee just like I wanted, which means we have a skilled fencer as Obi-Wan, Lee gets to see his (apparently) friend Cushing, we still can have Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan, and we can have Mifune as Rahm Kota! Did I mention we got Christopher motherfucking Lee? Woot Woot!

That will depend entirely on what happens when production begins.

And Background rolls between George and Lee. And all the other actors.

Remember, you have only casted them, not negotiated their contracts, that belong to George's Wheelhouse. as he's running the show with Gary.

Now you can be part of the negotiating stuff... but that will depend entirely on if you want to spend actions to do it.

We could always say that Yoda was not alone in his exile.
Damn this is a hell of an outcome. At the very least no matter what we'll get an Obi-wan who knows how to use a lightsaber.
And a master actor to boot.

Ironically Supernatural's biggest problem is ironically that its popularity made it go in long after it should've ended. The earlier seasons were rather good before the bullshit crept in.

Same with Buffy the Vampire Slayer - apparently there were plans to end it with Season 5, with Buffy sacrificing herself to save Dawn, rather than dragging on with the Troika / Dark Willow / First Evil storylines.

It would be good if we could get a bit with Leia's adopted father Bail Organa in the original trilogy. Maybe a bit on Alderan where he realizes just what the Death Star represents and heroically spends his last minutes alive organizing an evacuation of the planet on every lightspeed-capable ship available before accepting his fate.

Or maybe a quick cameo of Bail when Tarkin announces that the Emperor has dissolved the Senate, as well as the scene mentioned above?

That could definitely be interesting to work! It would be a bit difficult to do in terms of pacing, but if done properly it can be a great emotional gut punch to help the audience empathize with Leia, set up the stakes and show how evil the Empire is, a little necessary on the last part since you kind of don't give a shit about Alderaan from a first time watch and just think it looks cool.

Would be pretty cool foresight if we cast a Hispanic actor for Bail to set up Jimmy Smitts, could also make for a nice silent progressive statement in showing that in Star Wars skin color doesn't mean shit to make a family, and subtly suggesting Leia is adopted to set up her being Luke's sister and Vader's daughter, could maybe do a bait and switch if you don't show Breha in the OT so people think Leia takes after her white mother, but Bail and Breha sharing their final moments in each other's arms would also be a strong gut punch.

Maybe we could use this as an opportunity to set up the rules for Disturbances in the Force, how the death of an entire planet caused Obi-wan to act like he had a heart attack but Luke and Leia, to one of the strongest force users in the galaxy weren't affected, along with how countless millions or billions across the galaxy should have reacted the same. Also might make for some nice foreshadowing for Leia's force sensitivity in that she could feel the deaths of her parents and people and maybe telepathically was able to pick up Bail's last words stating he loved her and believes she can save the galaxy. We can pass that off as movie flair and dramatics but leave enough hints for people to catch on that Leia can use the Force like Luke. Would be tricky to explain why Vader didn't pick this up, but maybe the Disturbance clouded his perception of Leia?

Regarding Vader, maybe his fall to the Dark Side and his constant exposure to fear, greed, anger and other Dark Side emotions given off by everyone around him as part of his duties as Palpative's chief troubleshooter made him inured to the shockwave of fear, grief etc that echoed through the Force with the destruction of Alderaan. If Vader's lack of reaction is coupled with shocked reactions from Obi-wan and Leia this could emphasise his dark nature.

Holy shit those were some awesome rolls! Considering the sword skills of both Lee and Mifune, and the extra funds we spent on props, if we can get Bob Anderson into the Vader suit for the lightsabre fight in the first movie, that fight is going to be amazing....

See, that's the problem with most big shows. They just don't know when to stop. If we can establish that, sometimes, it's better to let things end naturally, we wouldn't have half the problems with modern shows nowadays.

Hurrah, it posted! Had to wait for a moderator to accept it. Hope you chums don't mind I just don't want it lost to the pages because it's not the newest message.

See, that's the problem with most big shows. They just don't know when to stop. If we can establish that, sometimes, it's better to let things end naturally, we wouldn't have half the problems with modern shows nowadays.
That's if they get more than a season in the first case. New shows aren't planned to end. They go on forever.. or they get canned.

George blinked, and realized that not only was the sun only starting to rise but that he was completely, utterly starving.
Well, Here is the thing:

[]+10 to Georges Directing Roll
[]We Have Backups (If someone has to quit production, they will immediately be replaced by the next highest diceroll)
[]Um George, We can have people do that? (Unknown Effect)
+20 to SP.

As well as another special reward that will soon come.

Hey @Magoose, shouldn't Toshiro Mifune get a bonus for being George's choice?
He would have if George were in charge of casting him.

And I've already said that Lee might not accept some of George's terms in contract negotiations, and will immediately be replaced by Mifune if they fail.

Which you won't see unless you get involved, and push for it.

So, maybe wait, and see, if Lee either remains on board or not.

Or don't that's, not my business?

Bad Things Happen to Good People Turn 32 (June 1974)
You were happy that things were going to go well. Sure it was kinda interesting going to Hawaii to film an episode.

SP:D100 => 67+5=72

You were not doing badly during the whole thing your ability to be a badass was something that filled you with a lot of confidence, and made the action scenes far more intense, your ability to screw with the main characters was fine, and fun.

It was a nice change of pace to just show up, do you're scenes for a paycheck, and bring said paycheck to the bank.

You were only there for two weeks of filming and everyone liked you well enough, despite your reputation.

Being a professional has its perks.

Reward: +20,000 Dollars. +1 to Acting skill.
------------------------------------------------------

So, getting home to LA was going to be quick and easy. That itself wasn't the worst thing, but darn it, it was the wait for a taxi, because you didn't trust airport security to keep your car safe. Having enough cash on hand was going to be a good thing, so you could pay and get out.

But it was never the best thing.

And something told you that luck was always going to show you reality.

Or something else entirely.

D100 => 3

The pistol at your back was something that you didn't feel coming, nor did you expect it as you began looking for a taxi. "Turn around." The voice said and you did slowly, trying to do everything you could to make things less dangerous for you.

The young man was wearing a scarf over much of his face, and it was showering with sweat, but the heavy trenchcoat was a nice touch. Like some old Noir character.

His hands were gloved… his face was almost all covered except for his bright blue eyes, and he said. "Money now."

You had been held up before, but right now, you were in danger, and trying to take the gun away would just lead to someone else getting hurt.

"I'm going to reach into my pocket for my wallet." You said in a hushed tone. "No need for-" Your hand twitched, and you saw the hammer go back.

His hands were shaking, but you just said. "Listen, maybe we can-"

"Now!" He demanded.

"Okay." You pulled out your wallet, then you saw him look around, and a woman screamed in terror, the gun being noticed. "Someone get the police!"

He turned. "Shut up!" He aimed, and you could see his finger pull on the trigger.

A Moment in Time:D100 => 33+30=63

You just moved on your own. Your body was in the way. No one was going to get hurt.

And everything in your chest burned as the gun fired. You grimaced in the most horrifying excruciating pain in your life, but you gathered all your strength.

Knock out:D100 + 30 => 88

If there was one thing that boxing taught you, was that sometimes, even when going down, to pain, to fear, even to just exhaustion…

You could pull off one more trick.

And you did, your fist smashing into the young man who had just shot you. He had not prepared to be punched. You hit him right where you wanted to, somewhere you had practiced for years.

Crumpling to the floor of unconsciousness.

And you faded away, falling to the ground, unable to focus on anything but the pain.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wound Roll: D100 - 30 => 58

You awoke in a hospital… And everyone was waiting.

"Bruce!" Carrie jumped from your side into a hug. You could see everyone was there. George, Mom, Dad, along with Carrie and her mother. Though you imagined that everyone else could have been there if there was any room.

"What happened?" You asked.

"You got shot." You turned to see your father sitting away as if he couldn't come to embrace you or come closer, his hand over his chest. "Bullet went through you and missed everything. Missed everything important."

You took a moment to sigh. "Everyone okay?"

"Besides scaring the hell our us?" Debbie replied. "Yeah."

"So what's going to happen?" You asked.

"They are keeping you under observation for another two days, then you'll be good to go." Your father stated as he walked over to you. He placed a hand on your shoulder. "Take it easy Bruce. You got lucky."
