Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

I wonder how many people are aware that there's an actual book adaptation of the Original Star Wars Trilogy... written a la Shakespeare.

Is someone working in a Power Rangers pitch? Because I would like to do it

Also damn Disney Chanel sure is doing it great hopefully the Chanel won't end dominated by live actions in the next century

Build or acquire an airship airship hangar and set it up as a sound stage. Because i can think of more than a few scenes that an epic sized indoor set would be good for.

Looking closer to the Sega Saturn's capabilities, I'm starting to hope that what we got was something imilar but not exactly the same as damn, that system had a lot of flaws in it when it came to memory. Not to mention that at its time it still lagged behind the Nintendo64, so I'm beginning to think that it might be closer to a suped up Snes with 3D graphics more than anything.

Perhaps it is closer to the Playstation after all.

I've heard it be called in-between eras of consoles.
I say we make final fantasy for it.

So, should we start buying a studio in each country? Like one in Mexico, Latin America, France, Britain, Greece, etc, or would that be too much?

Lol, so uh super awkward but.... I was just going back over my omake since I'm almost done, only to realize that I accidently, without even noticing, technically already wrote enough to finish the omake and could have wrapped it up for at least a week or two by this point.

I'll just finish that now...

So, should we start buying a studio in each country? Like one in Mexico, Latin America, France, Britain, Greece, etc, or would that be too much?
Personally, I feel that it's too much already. We already have Sunset Studios that helps with acquissitions and distribution for the East, and Ardmore Studios that does the same for Britain, Ireland and Europe. I don't see the need to expand with even more studios than what we have at the moment.

I would be amenable to buy other third party developers for videogames, that way they would be under LucasArts and can work for the games for our console. Right now, I'm thinking Interplay and perhaps some from Japan so that we can get some good franchisesz as well.

Above all however, I want the Mother series to be in our console and be distributed to the west as well.

LATIN AMERICA ISN'T A COUNTRY!!!:mad::mad::mad:

No, but it is a fun way of saying South America with some of North America tacked on. ;)

That makes sense, I would like an African division and an India division, however. As for the video game studio, that would be a great idea as long as we do not pull the BS that EA and Bethesda are pulling in OTL.

Yes.

As for the console, its like the Sega Saturn, though it will require a cooler name
Man, we should keep the Sega Saturn name, it is the origin of the best series of video game commercials ever made and a legendary meme...
SEGATA SANSHIRO!!!

@Magoose I know that we can get a decent PR department in Lucasfilm for $5-10 million dollars, but if we want to go all out and get one of the best ones in Hollywood (like we did when we upgraded the Legal Team), what should be our budget?
So, should we start buying a studio in each country? Like one in Mexico, Latin America, France, Britain, Greece, etc, or would that be too much?
We can try, but it is unlikely that we can buy the big ones... I am sure Japan and France would fight us tooth and nail if we went after Toho or Pathe...

Not sure if the vote for spending from the war chest is still open but.... Maybe we could open a film and animation school?

That way we not only can potentially get early access to hidden gems and help their talent develop but we could also potentially help direct the growth of the next generation of talent to be even better than they were originally.

I second @lockingbane 's idea and have an addition. That we could have a thing where promising amateur filmmakers who graduate are given an "apprenticeship". Some kind of subordinate role on a smaller movie. Like maybe they'd be second-unit director. And after they've gotten some experience working on an actual film production they're given a modest budget to make their own movie. In other words a more formalized version of what's called the "Corman Film School". I think that giving the filmmakers of the future hands-on experience as well as formal education is a winning combination.

Animated TV Pitch: The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo
Well, this was one of my favorite iterations of Scooby Doo, and with the changes we are doing to Hannah-Barbera I fear that perhaps we won't be able to see it done. As such, I'm making this pitch with the hope that we may be able to get the series done, especially with the advances in animation that we have at the moment. I mostly envision it with the style that was used in the movie that came decades after, which is why I've also added the final 13th ghost that appeared in said film.

I've also chosen not to change that many of the VA's, with the exception of some of the ghosts, since I feel the series was perfect just the way it was. Furthermore, I thought that we could also explain that Vema and Fred could not accompany the gang in this adventure since they had to stay behind and make up for some classes they missed. it would be a good way to explain just why aren't they there.

Thus, I give you:

Animated TV Pitch:
The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo

GENRE: Adventure/Mystery/Comedy

SUBGENRE: Horror/Fantasy

FORMAT: Animated TV Series

Set Up: With Fred and Velma having to remain behind to make up for some classes they missed, Daphne, Shaggy, Scooby and Scrappy go on a research expedition to Tibet. Once there, Scooby and Shaggy are tricked by ghosts Bogle and Weerd into opening a chest of demons. With the aid of Daphne, Scrappy, an orphan named Flim Flam and warlock Vincent Van Ghoul, they have to return the 13 ghost demons to the chest.

Animation: Hannah-Barbera Studios
Series Director: Tom Ruegger
Head Writer: Gordon Bressack

Scooby Doo: He is the Great Dane mascot of Mystery Inc., and pet and best friend of Shaggy Rogers. Among his traits are mostly being constantly hungry, being scared easily and most of the time refuse to help others, though occasionally appealing to his inherent loyalty and courage to take a more heroic stance helps him overcome his fear.

Played By: Don Messick

Shaggy Rogers: He is a member of Mystery Inc., and the owner and best friend of their team's mascot. He and Scooby-Doo have nearly insatiable appetites, as well as tendencies towards goofing off and cowardice. Due to these similarities, Shaggy typically treats Scooby as a normal person rather than his pet. Shaggy uses his catch phrase "Zoinks!" whenever he's surprised or scared, which is frequently.

Played By: Casey Kasem

Daphne Blake: She is the fashion-loving member of Mystery Inc. While not as smart as Velma, Daphne would always solve her problems in a different way. As an investigator followed by both Shaggy and Scooby Doo, she is there when they accidentally open the chest that releases the 13 ghosts, and follows them as they are punished by capturing them all once more.

Played By: Heather North

Scrappy Doo: He is a Great Dane puppy and the nephew of Scooby-Doo. Scrappy is the most noteworthy of Scooby's relatives. He is noted for being quite headstrong and always wanting to face off in a fight against the various villains. With a highly energetic and brave personality, despite his small size, Scrappy is the opposite of his uncle.

Played By: Don Messick
Vincent Van Ghoul: He is a renowned magician and warlock, with extensive knowledge of the supernatural. He is first visited by Shaggy, Scooby, Daphne and Scrappy with Flim-Flam, after they need some help with their plane, which has crash-landed in a nearby temple in Tibet. After Shaggy and Scooby unwittingly unleash thirteen terrible ghosts from the chest in which they were locked, Van Ghoul tells them that they must trap them again.

Played By: Vincent Price

Flim-Flam: A preteen Tibetan child, Film Flam is a con artist with the personality of an archetypical American used-car salesman. Although tremendously ambitious, he doesn't seem to be above bilking and bamboozling people for his own profit. After Shaggy and Scooby open the chest and release the thirteen ghosts within it, Flim Flam decides to join them in their hunt to return them to the chest.

Played By: Susan Blu

Weerd and Bogel: Bogel is a fat, dimwitted ghost while Weerd is a tall, skinny ghost. Weerd is the mastermind of the two. Weerd always comes up with schemes to lure Shaggy and Scooby to open the Chest of Demons so he and Bogel can gain some glory with the 13 ghosts. Weerd and Bogel always try to get into S.A.P.S. (short for Spook and Poltergeist Society), a legion of high honor for the most terrifying ghosts and ghouls.

Played By (Weerd): Arte Johnson
Played By (Bogel): Howard Morris
Maldor the Malevolent: He is a ghostly warlock from the Dark Ages who is a master of the black arts. Maldor is very ungenerous and impatient as he showed when he searched for the wand and as he looked for Scooby-Doo. His most powerful spells include creating a near irreversible sleep and causing himself to grow to gigantic sizes.

Played By: Peter Cullen

Queen Morbida: She is a vampire-like queen who is the commander of an army of monsters. Queen Morbida is obviously the leader of the assembled monsters. She is bold, arrogant and cruel, but is also a touch oblivious... for instance, she didn't even think to check her bedchamber for the stolen Chest of Demons, even though it was in Befuddle Hall and thus a possible location.

Played By: Linda Gary

Reflector Spectre: He is a mirror demon who can trap people in his mirror. While contained in his mirror, he can appear not at all, or his face can appear, or he can make the entire mirror shine with ghostly energy. While in the Mirror Dimension, he controls every aspect of the environment -- the floors, gravity, even the sizes of things or people he sees.

Played By: Michael Rye

Zomba: She is a zombie demon who can transport people into movies and TV shows. She's addicted to releasing the Demon Chest ghosts (her motive for this end is never clear), she loves eating like Scooby and Shaggy comparing that she ate popcorn, and often uses her frightful appearance to intimidate—but she has a tendency to believe whatever she's told, making her relatively easy to trick.

Played By: Susan Blu

Captain Ferguson: He is a ghostly sea captain and his crew who haunted the Bermuda Triangle on his ghost ship. He is easily irritated, but is able to hide it well when in human form. He is also usually polite when he is in human form, as well as when he was disguised as a travel agent. However, he was demanding and quite rude when in ghost form.

Played By: Robert Ridgely

Nekara: She is an enchantress who can drain other magic users of their magic with her Trance of Love. Nekara prefers to use minions to carry out her plans, employing force only when her victim is under her control or the time is dire. She's arguably the only truly paranormal villain willingly pursued by the gang without rallying their bravery or being bribed to do so.

Played By: Adrienne Barbeau

Marcella: She is a witch who manipulated three bumbling witches called the Brewski Sisters into freeing her. She appears to them as mist. However, she can also take on a more tangible form. In the latter form, she wears a red and purple outfit, has gray and black hair, and a medallion around her neck. She's cold-blooded and wicked enough to capture Vincent Van Ghoul singlehandedly.

Played By: B.J. Ward

Time Slime: He is a demon who can control the flow of time. Time Slime is as ambitious as he is tyrannical. His objective of world conquest seems only for the sake of defiling the world and having everyone in it under his rule. He is abrasive to his subordinates. He is very rude and has a penchant for designing elaborate demises for his enemies, which is his undoing -- when Scooby, infused with an uncharacteristic bout of courage, attacked and eliminated his trap, causing it to backfire.

Played By: Rodger Bumpass

Demondo: He is a demon who can imprison people in books and comic strips. He makes a slurping sound when he speaks. He is also known as being discourteous, emotionless, menacing, obnoxious, negative, diligent, obstinate, devilish, evil, mischievous, obsessive, nasty, determined and outlandish.

Played By: Peter Renaday

Rankor: is a vampire demon who sought to join S.A.P.S. by having Vincent Van Ghoul look into the Eye of Eternity which slowly turned him to stone. He's mercilessly determined to both eliminate the demon chest and one day joining S.A.P.S. He'll go to great lengths to succeed at both of them at the same time. He deeply hates sunlight since he's a vampire.

Played By: Hamilton Camp

Professor Phantazmo: He is the ringmaster of the Circus of Horrors which is staffed by demons and monsters. In contrast to the other 13 Ghosts, he is not menacing or enigmatic on first appearance. In fact, he's good-humored and full of showmanship, like a typical ringmaster. He shows a dark and vicious underlying menace on occasion, suggesting that his affable demeanor is just a front to put mortals off guard.

Played By: Alan Oppenheimer

Simbooloo: He is a horned lion demon with goat-like hooves who posed as a medium named Tallulah. He is very ferocious, arrogant, ingenious and determined to release his fellow demons from the Chest of Demons and to gain all the power in the universe. He'll stop at nothing to achieve that goal. Simbooloo was so menacing and intimidating that both Bogel and Weerd groveled on their knees and kissed his hooves.

Played By: Frank Welker

Asmodeus: He is Asamad Van Ghoul, the final ghost, and Vincent's ancestor who went mad with power and had to be sealed within the Chest of Demons. It was in the chest where he supposedly became a demon. He is a tall, dark red-purple humanoid with with a pair of wings on its back. He seeks to release all the ghosts once more and become their ruler.

Played By: Kevin Conroy

A.N.: I hope we can male this for either next year or by the year after. I really liked this series growing up, and it was the first time where I saw the franchise trying something different, which might be why I liked it so much. Not to mention Vincent Van Ghoul, I just loved the character, so having him be part of Scooby canon would be perfect for the franchise.

It is still open, but no one has made a plan yet... Probably because we are still thinking about stuff in which to invest all that money, and asking Magoose about his approval for our ideas (alongside the appropriate budget)

A few more questions about Lucasfilm's investments/new departments if you don't mind @Magoose
  • There has been a write-in for a specialized prop/costume division in Lucasfilms to avoid things like this in the future for $50 million, but since that was the budget for when Star Wars 1 was released, what would be the price now (accounting inflation)?
  • Can we buy MGM from Kirk, if so for how much?
  • Do we still need to wait until 1985 to create something like Blockbuster (mostly asking for the impressive cultural roll that may smooth things up with the politicians)?
  • Since Sega created some of the best Arcade Machines of all time, how much would it cost to build Japanese-style Arcade Saloons throughout America (and later throughout the world)?
  • Can we acquire Capcom and Konami? And if we can how much would they cost?
  • To increase our number of animators (and to save many poor souls from wage slavery) can we acquire Madhouse and Kyoto Animation?
  • Since Games Workshop has already launched Warhammer Fantasy this year... Can we acquire them already or are they still too obscure?

150 million.

Kirk will never sell now, seeing the bullshit we accomplished.
Do we still need to wait until 1985 to create something like Blockbuster (mostly asking for the impressive cultural roll that may smooth things up with the politicians)?
that would actually be imposssible for two reasons.

It would make our competitors consider us a potential monopoly...

Those same competitors really fucking hate you and will try to do everything they can to slap you down.

Also, our potential political enemies really want to give us a black eye.
Since Sega created some of the best Arcade Machines of all time, how much would it cost to build Japanese-style Arcade Saloons throughout America (and later throughout the world)?
500 million dollars.
To increase our number of animators (and to save many poor souls from wage slavery) can we acquire Madhouse and Kyoto Animation?
currently, no.

If only because the Japanese Government might get involved and they would say no.

With say... the New Japan Party that I talked about earlier in the thread a few hundred pages ago... potenttially involved... it can happen.

But you are reliant on the LDP getting fucked in the next election. and the NJP party really stepping up its game.
Since Games Workshop has already launched Warhammer Fantasy this year... Can we acquire them already or are they still too obscure?
we cannot buy Games workshop. Mostly because they won't be sold by its people.

But the people who made Battletech... they can be convinced.

Thank you for the answers @Magoose but I think you have missed this question in myt previous post...

It is a shame, seeing how stupid GW has become and how overpriced their miniatures are now I would have preferred to buy them and keep both Warhammer Universes safe in our hands...

Shit. I've been hoping to buy them out for a while. Gonna have to come up with some other wargames then.

Hey @Magoose would a general expansion of Marvel Manga (preferably so they can recruit more writers and artists and get more real life manga) be a viable write in and if so how much would it cost? Also is Marvel Manga profitable enough for such a expansion to make sense?

Yes and yes.

As for cost... 200 million.

@Magoose can we acquire Aardman Animations as a subsidiary, or they are still too obscure? And if we can, how much would it cost?

Alternatively, how much would it cost to create a Stop Motion Division for Dreamworks?
