Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

I'm confused, I thought Marvel Eclipse was in reference to a line of "American Manga" for people who want to draw manga instead of traditional western comics. Thus it's name is Eclipse as a pun on Japan being the land of the rising sun and to mix with Sunrise and Sunset. What's the point of Eclipse?

I think it would have been better to follow Orion's method he talked about a while back where each Marvel comic has a color coded spine signifying what age it's targeted to, though obviously not his weird idea of "25 and older". It's a soft version of the video game system but that way it doesn't hardline brands into certain groups like how Eclipse has to only be mature stories and they can't incldue stuff like slice of life or romance.
Also, I think the Eclipse line, while it was created to show the new style of "Amerimanga", can also be used to host other type of independent creator content that is not strictly Amerimanga nor influenced by Japan, as mentioned in my Omake where the line was created. This allows us to have more titles in Marvel, and to expand the Line as well.

As for color coded, I personally am not fond of the idea.

Eh, I feel like having non-traditional comics and non manga in the Eclipse line kind of defeats the whole purpose of the line and dilutes its identity. It's like if Toonami hosted Family Guy or live action shows, then the brand is no longer linear.

In my personal opinion, I would name the experimental line that follows serious or non-superhero comics to be named either Marvel Timely or Marvel Atlas. Either name in reference to Marvel's previous iterations as Timely Comics and Atlas Comics respectively. Would personally prefer Marvel Atlas not only for the better name, but because the company in the 50's was legit experimental and was how comics should be, covering all types of genres, not just superheroes.

Hmm, creating a different line in order to keep the other unique sounds fun. Some of the comics I'm hoping to add will have some superheroes though. I mean, The Rocketeer should be available by now, and I don't think it will fit in the Marvel Continuity, Noir, or Sunset Lines.

I think I'll call it "Marvel Atlas" as you say so that it explores not only heroes that don't fit with Marvel, but also the more experimental genres as you say. May have to do an Omake about it as well.

Thanks for the feedback.

LMAO, so right now I'm writing an Omake on Mike Curb's term as Governor, and I have absolutely no idea if Magoose was aware of this or not, but it turns out there was a legit massive bi-partisan corruption scandal within the California state legislature that was investigated by the FBI and lead to five legislators being arrested. Don't think Jerry Brown was ever involved but yeah, Hillsgate solely based off Magoose Dice, but has legit historical precedence.

So… funny moment happened:

Good things are about to happen to Mike.

As if he needed more love

@Magoose would it be accurate to describe DreamWorks' in-house animation style as being primarily Bluth-inspired?
I personally think that it has different styles, since we have Tomino's own Anime Style, along with Bluth more realistic style, then we have Musker and Clements Disney Style, and of course whatever Lasseter and Bird end up making with the inspirations they receive from them all.

I think it's great, we get to explore so many different ways to animate.

I'm just trying to figure out what style Undertale would primarily be in for the news article Omake(I'm like... 2/3rds done. Yay!), especially since I managed to find some fanart of Undertale in the Don Bluth style.

We are still lacking the Stop Motion team though...

I know you're trying to push for Burton here, something we've already been over(or was that a convo I had with Nova? Can't remember), but I think we should go for Aardman instead. It would also serve to bolster our European holdings, on top of getting us a stop-motion/claymation division and stuff like Wallace and Gromit.

Hey, I would love to get Aardman as a subsidiary but until they release their first Wallace and Gromit film in 1989 there is no IC reason for Bruce or anyone in Hollywood to go after these guys, because at this point they are basically unknown outside of Bristol...

And whereas I indeed want to recruit Tim Burton and get A Nightmare Before Christmas produced by Dreamworks (and make him join Lucasfilm as a director as well), I would rather put Will Vinton (the co-founder of Laika) to direct our Stop Motion division.

And AFAIK there is nothing "over" Tim Burton, IIRC Magoose said that he would likely leave Disney soonish and that would be recruitable

That's a good shout actually. I'm not for taking away Burton, as you already know, but I'd 100% back Vinton.
We could also try and go for Joe Ranft or Henry Selick as well. Both of them worked with Stop Motion animation, and they should be available at the moment.

Personally, I never cared for the Aardman animation/Claymation. There was just... something about it that just seemed too weird to enjoy.

Well, you know that my opinion on that is "Por Que No Los Dos?"

Well, I personally love the Claymation style and the originality and sense of Humor of Aardman, BUT as I said before we won't have to worry over that for several years...

Let's go for it, no reason not to, especially with Star Wars money coming in soon.

Yeah, I know. I just can't agree with it personally.

Well, these are both good recruits BUT they started working in Stop Motion much later than Vinton, who has been doing in since the 70s... So if we are looking for someone as the boss for our future Stop Motion Division I will definitively go for Will Vinton...

I will perhaps open myself to more charges of Heresy of a different kind, but I care not, for the truth most come out!

Vinton's Claymation is... not so good!! :p

Dennis Muren? At least as an interim step. He and his team where responsible for "GO Motion", taking a still shot during the tauntaun or At At movements to add motion blur?

Would Ray Harryhausen be convincable, If not for the sequal to "Clash of the Titans" Force of the Trojans then for mentoring ILM Staff? Bruce, George and Steven Spielberg are already fans.

A mentoring program would be nice, and it would open doors for many future movies that we could do in Stop-Motion Animation.

Would he agree to it though? From waht I read, he retired because he found that there he had done all he could with the effects at the time, and most of what we will work with will be advanced Special Effects.

I think there is a decent chance he would say yes.

According to his Wikipedia article, he is actively looking for funding for the sequel, as other companies are pursuing Lucasfilm style special effects and profits and rejecting his work.

George might invest simply to say he worked with the man. Likewise, Ray might be willing to listen as he seemed interested in finishing the stories he started, going into other mediums such as comics and recolors of old works to do so and had an interest in mentoring.

Regarding relevance to Lucasfilm, if it's not for seriously improving stop-motion practical effects for Walkers, Wampas, and Rancors for any future Star Wars or similar sci-fi movies, digital puppetry and digital animation are about to become significant.

One of the reasons I am happy to have Jim Henson's involvement is Waldo C. Graphic, a fully digital puppet that led into the full 3D animation revolution. At the beginning, nobody knew how to use or think about those early digital puppets, going from instant results to having to plan out every detail. a stop motion mindset and even rigging skills could be very useful in bridging the gap.

Marvel Comics Pitch I Hate Fairyland
Marvel Comics Pitch
I Hate Fairyland

Genre: Dark Comedy, fantasy.

Plot: Welcome to Fairyland. A world of Whimsy magic and wonders, but also the darkest of black hearted evils. Of the many laws and phenomena of Fairyland is the Guest's Quest. Every once in a while a child shall be summoned from the real world to roam and go through various traps, puzzles and side quests to find their key and return home. This usually takes about two shakes of a Boggelzig . Or about a day for those of you who left their fairyland conversion calendar at home. At most no more of then a week for those who really enjoy the scenic route.

Meet Gert.

She's been on her Quest for Twenty Seven years.

After years of being an adult in the body of a child. Years of never seeing her family or loved ones. years of getting into life and death battles and trudging through the most dangerous environments Fairyland has to offer. she's grown rather tired of Fairyland. In fact you could say she hates it. And she's wiling to do anything to get home.

Follow her adventures as she tries, fails and (maybe) eventually succeeds in her quest to leave Fairyland once and for all.

Gertrude AKA "Gert the Gruesome": Once a normal girl who was transported to fairyland. Though she hasn't physically aged a day since she got there, decades of dangerous adventures with no home or family has turned her into a violent, boorish alcoholic who prefers to solve problems with her axe and has little to no empathy about others plights. Behind her murderous and crass exterior she has deep fears of never getting home and what her life, body and family will be like when/if she returns. Her language is heavily peppered with Fairyland swearwords like " What the fluff, fluff you, Muffin Hugger, Son of a Biscuit and What the Spell.

Larrigon Wentsworth III AKA "Larry": A talking fly fairy and Gert's guide through Fairyland. Larry graduated at the top of his class and ha a bright future with the Guild of Guides. But his first Guest was Gertrude. Decades of following Gerturde around has transformed him into a depressed shadow of his former self. Always has a cigar and often seen binge drinking (though not as much as Gert). Uses a Fly sized revolved whenever he has to fight. And has a magic bowler hat of storage that Gert uses to carry her many weapons, tools and loot.

Cloudia: Queen of Fairyland, Cloudia has a cloud for hair and weather based powers. While she can be a condescending and snooty she genuinely cares about Fairyland. Gert's destructive actions across fairyland over the decades have drawn her ire and as the story begins she starts scheming to get rid of Gert once and for all. By the natural laws of Fairyland she can't harm Gert herself so she resorts to various mercenaries and magical means. Ultimately she ends up getting killed by Gert but is resurrected by Horribella as the evil "Dark Cloudia" who hates fairyland and seeks to bring about THE END.

Horribella: A witch hired by Cloudia to kill Gert. Which she tries to do with a Zombie Plauge. Afterwards she becomes a recurring side charecter. In the Climax she resurrects Cloudia as "Dark Cloudia" to bring about THE END and is her first victim.

Bill the Fairyland Devil; The Devil of Fairyland, Makes deals and tortures Gert in her brief stint in Fairyland Hell.

Duncan Dragon: A young boy in a dragon costume who's lifegoal until recently was to drink every slushie flavor at the local convenient store. He was accidently transported to Fairyland while using a outhouse after drinking to many slushies on Halloween night. Something about Fairyland and his costume is slowly giving him dragon based powers.

Happy: A cheerful and aptly named girl summoned to Fairyland by Cloudia to go on her Fairyland adventure. Once she leaves By Fairyland law Gert will no longer be considered a guest but a citizen and Cloudia can kill her personally. Wields Rainbow magic at a surprising level for someone whose been to fairyland for such a short time.

The Fairyland High council: A group of the most powerful beings in fairyland. they are charged with maintaining it's order, ensuring balance and maintaining the numerous rules society and Fairyland itself require to function. Have control freak tendencies. And tend to be sticklers for the rules.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
I like the comic. I'd prefer for the original creator Skottie Young to do it. But mostly I'm pitching it because I think it'd be funny for Gert to eventually Interact with some Marvel characters like Deadpool.
