Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Alright, I think I have the plan, but it's still open to change. So, here goes:

Wes Craven - The Slenderman

Bruce O'Brian - Conan the Destroyer

Brian de Palma - Scarface

The Coen Brothers - Blood Simple

Sam Raimi - Cult of the Preacher

Quentin Tarantino - Across America in 90 days

Ron Howard - Splash

George Lucas - Flight of the Navigator

Now, I've put Wes as a maybe, but if we choose to use him, i say we go for Slenderman. Bruce has to go vor Conan if we want to keep our commitment for the film, and Brian doing Scarface...well, I guess it can work. But, if we go with that, then the Coen Brothers can do Blood Simple and Ron Howard can do Splash.

For Tarantino, it was a challenge, but then I thought, aside from violence, waht is another staple of his movies. And it came to me; comedy! Not to mention that his work in Inglorious Basterds! showed he could do period pieces as well. Can you imagine the entire madness of Across America in 90 days directed by Tarantino! The cursing, the old time references, the kinetic fights (which you know he's going to add) and violence. not to mention the friendship that will be built through it! It will be amazing!

Sam Raimi for Cult of the Preacher, since we do have to make it this year do to the reward. And I put george with Snow White and the Huntsmen because it will be one of the movies that will need to push our Special Effects and CGI to the limits., something George loves working with.

Plus, the comparisons to Walt Disney will be glorious

What do you think?

Edit: Changing Snow White and the Huntsman to Flight of the Navigator at the suggestion of @Schehera Zade , since it does fit better.

...He's working on the entire trilogy at once?!
I mean that when I brought up Hush, Magoose said that would be him doing 4 films, including Faith and whatever else we chose. So he must be doing some other film as well on top of that.
I know about Hush, but if you could let me know the others?
I haven't thoroughly checked, but I know you're missing Cam Jansen under animated TV and The SCP Files under live action TV off the top of my head.

All these options are good, I think, and Across America in 90 Days for Tarantino was a good choice, but I think maybe Flight of the Navigators for George might be better and also play into the special effects stuff considering it actually points that out in the description of the film. I'm still iffy on Wes, but he's just a maybe for now.
Not to mention that his work in Inglorious Basterds!
Potential hot take, but Inglorious Bastards was probably one of his weaker films.

Done! Cam Jensen was animated, right?

Wes is a "maybe" indeed, and as for George...well, yeah it might work better with Flight of the Navigator. We might want to make sure not to have him stuck in Science Ficiton forever like we're doing with Raimi though.

Inglorious Basterds! is one of Tarantino's best movies ever. The entire premise, the interactions, and the ending was just perfect. And that's not even mentioning Hans Landa, one of the best villains ever made.

Yep!

Fair enough, I wasn't aware it was a Science Fiction pitch.

Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad movie at all, but it's definitely one of his weaker films. The whole film seems to be very confused as to what exactly it wants to be about, primarily carried by a few very good scenes, and so when all subplots and whatnot come together at the end, it doesn't feel like it happens very organically and everything between those scenes feels pretty meh. And yes, Hans Landa is incredible and Christopher Waltz is perfect in the role.

Pulp fiction got a 300 on its script roll if anyone wants to do it. Just putting it out there because it's not been put in out list of scripts yet even though we have it.
Yeah, but Pulp Fiction, I think, fits better in the 90s. Not to mention that I want Tarantino to better explore different films thatn the ten he's worked at so far.

As for the new scripts, yeah I've yet to add them. I'll do it now.
Fair enough, I wasn't aware it was a Science Fiction pitch.
It does have its moments, though I think its more of a coming of age/adventure story with science fiction elements.

Fair enough. I still think the film it's amazing, but to each their own I guess. Personally, I thought it made perfect sense, since it was all coming down to Hitler dying in the cinema, though Landa finding out and making a deal with the Allies did shock me.

LucasArts Pitch: Undertale
Before the update, I was still feeling pretty shitty, so I wanted to put up a very special pitch that I've had sitting finished for a while now to try and make myself feel better, but I'm still trying to decide who I should have as it's writer, as well as the fact that I had a very special date that I wanted to release it on in order to commemorate it, so I'll keep it in my back pocket for now. Instead, I'm deciding to put up the very first video game pitches that I completed. They aren't very good, but I'm still learning and trying to find a rhythm that I'm comfortable with. The first one is Undertale, since I thought that it would still work as a video game, especially since it's in a style that is compatible with the time. With the film coming out soon, I'm trying to do some stuff to boost the success of the film, including an Omake, seeing as how I'm aiming to get Undertale to be the first billion dollar animated film, although I'm not quite done with it yet. For the Game Director, I chose Koichi Nakamura, who would go on to found Chunsoft, which would later merge with Spike, becoming Spike Chunsoft, known primarily for games like Danganronpa and AI: The Somnium Files, but I chose Koichi primarily due to his creation of Dragon Quest. He actually moved to Tokyo in 1983 OTL, so I thought that instead of moving to Tokyo, it would be viable for him to move to the US instead in order to work for LucasArts and his stuff could be put out by LucasArts instead, especially considering Akira Toriyama's connection to Dragon Quest OTL. After this, I'll also be putting up a pitch for Sugar Rush(the racing game from Wreck-it Ralph that can serve as a racing franchise/Mario Kart competitor for us) and Nidhogg. After those, I'm looking to put out much better video game pitches and I've got a few lined up that I think will be great additions to LucasArts. Without further ado, I hope you enjoy.

LucasArts Pitch:
Undertale

Game Developer: LucasArts Entertainment
Director: Koichi Nakamura
Genre: RPG/Bullet-Hell
Undertale is a role-playing video game where the player controls Frisk and completes objectives in order to progress through the story. Players explore an underground world filled with towns and caves, and are required to solve numerous puzzles on their journey. The underground world is the home of monsters, many of whom challenge the player in combat and players decide whether to kill, flee from, or befriend them. Choices made by the player radically affect the plot and general progression of the game, with the player's morality acting as the cornerstone for the game's development. When players encounter enemies in either scripted events or random encounters, they enter a battle mode. During battles, players control a small heart which represents their soul, and must avoid attacks unleashed by the opposing monster. As the game progresses, new elements are introduced, such as colored obstacles, and boss battles which change the way players control the heart. Players may choose to attack the enemy, which involves timed button presses. Killing enemies will cause the player to earn EXP (in turn increasing their LOVE) and gold. They can use the ACT option to check an enemy's attacking and defending attributes as well as perform various other actions, which vary depending on the enemy. If the player uses the right actions to respond to the enemy, or attacks them until they have low HP (but are still alive), they can then choose to spare them and end the fight without killing them. The game features multiple story branches and endings depending on whether players choose to kill or spare their enemies. Monsters will talk to the player during the battle, and the game will tell the players what the monster's feelings and actions are. Enemy attacks change based on how players interact with them: should players choose non-violent options, enemy attacks are comparatively easy, whereas they become less easy if players choose violent options. The game relies on a number of metafictional elements in both its gameplay and story. When players participate in a boss battle on a second playthrough, the dialogue will be altered depending on actions in previous playthroughs.

Oh man undertale being made in the 80s would mean they had to make sure they can't do some edits that like moving body's or objects because that's only possible in modern times

The Tale of Louis and the Captain of the Stars:The start of a new community

The Tale of Louis and the Captain of the Stars:The start of a new community

Once upon a time, in the year 1983, there lived a young dreamer named Louis in a small neighboorhood of Boston in the United States. At just 16 years old, Louis's heart was filled with a boundless love for the stars and the adventures that awaited within them. He often wandered the streets of his quiet Midwestern town, his mind lost in distant galaxies and faraway lands.

One day, as fate would have it, Louis during an late walk stumbled upon the small cinema of his neighboorhood. The posters outside promised a tale unlike any he had ever seen—a story of ships that sailed the cosmos and treasures hidden among the stars. The film was called "Treasure Planet" Drawn by the allure of adventure and intrigued by the publicity he saw on tv, Louis bought a ticket and took a seat in the near-full theater even by that last midnight session.

As the film began, Louis was instantly captivated. The screen came alive with wonders—a universe with an unique esthetic where ships soared through the vastness of space. But what truly enchanted him was the character of Captain Amelia, a noble and fearless feline woman who commanded her ship with grace and unwavering courage. Her sharp mind, her elegance, her beauty and her daring spirit left Louis in awe. She was unlike any character he had ever encountered, a true heroine who stirred his imagination like nothing before.

From that day on, Louis's heart belonged to Captain Amelia Smollett. He returned to the cinema time and time again, watching the film over and over until every line, every scene was engraved into his memory. At home, he filled notebooks with sketches and stories of the Captain, envisioning new adventures and uncharted worlds for her to explore.

But Louis's love for Captain Amelia could not be contained within the pages of his notebooks. In those early days of the Internet, when the world was just beginning to connect through wires and screens, Louis discovered others who shared his passion for characters that were both human and animal, creatures who lived between worlds. He found a small community of dreamers like himself, scattered across the country, each with their own tales to tell.

Under the name "AmeliaLover83," Louis became a storyteller, sharing his art and stories with those who understood the magic of these characters. Inspired by Captain Amelia, he encouraged others to create, to imagine, and to anthropomorphic beings who captured their hearts.

As their numbers grew, Louis and his newfound friends decided to create a space of their own, a place where they could gather and share their love for anthropomorphic characters without boundaries. And so, they built the first online community dedicated to these characters"alt.fan.furry", the very first furry website. It became a sanctuary for fans, a digital gathering place where stories were told, art was shared, and friendships were forged.

"alt.fan.furry "quickly became the heart of the newborn furry fandom, a thriving community where people from all walks of life came together to celebrate their love for characters that walked the line between animal and human. Captain Amelia, the character who had sparked it all, remained an icon within the community, her image a reminder of the power of imagination and the bonds it could create.

Years passed, and Louis grew from a young dreamer into an adult. He could never have known that his love for a fictional captain would spark a movement that would span the nation and eventually the world. But wherever the community gathered, Captain Amelia remained at its heart, a symbol of what could be created when imagination knew no bounds, when worlds collided, and when dreams took flight among the stars.

And so, the tale of Louis and the Captain of the Stars was passed down from fan to fan, a legend of how one boy's passion in a small American neighbooorhood gave birth to "alt.fan.furry" and a new world of stories, a world where reality and fantasy danced together in the light of distant nebulas.

I just find verry funny the idea of lucasfilm starting that community a decade sooner and realy realy want to give a boost to this movie.

I forget to add it but this omake was second-opinioned by

LucasArts Pitch: Sugar Rush
I honestly don't know what to say for this one. I liked the Wreck-it Ralph movie a lot and I decided to make this... that's about it? I thought that we should have some racing games and although Kaiser made one before, it was only for Hannah-Barbera characters IIRC, so I decided to make something else and that could maybe help draw in more girls as consumers. As I said in the Undertale game post, there isn't much to this, primarily because I was just really struggling to figure out what to say for this game, considering that it's not a real game and we only see bits and pieces of it from the movie, but it's basically just Mario Kart, so I thought it'd be fine enough. For the Director, I chose Bill Adams. I chose him specifically for his experience OTL in making the 1982 Tron game, which I felt was close enough to make the leap over. As I said before, after this is Nidhogg. I hope you enjoy.

LucasArts Pitch:
Sugar Rush

Game Developer: LucasArts Entertainment
Director: Bill Adams
Genre: Arcade/Racing
SET UP: Sugar Rush is a kart racing game in which the player takes control of one of sixteen characters, each with differing capabilities. In single player mode players can race against computer-controlled characters in 4 multi-race cups consisting of 20 tracks over three difficulty levels. During the races, offensive and speed boosting power-ups can be used to gain an advantage. In multiplayer mode two players can simultaneously take part in the cups or can race against each other one-on-one.

Lucasfilms movies are self explanatory I think; Brian, the Coen Brothers and Ron are doing the movies they would have directed at the time. Bruce is doing Conan, and Wes is not added since he's a bit busy at the moment. Though I am loath to give Sam Cult of the Preacher for fear of typecasting him, he is the most experienced with the genre at the moment. My thoughts on Tarantino with Across America in 90 days have already been given (great comedy, old time swears and contemporary irreverent behavior, kinetic violence in the style of Django Unchained and Inglorious Basterds!) and George Lucas with Flight of the Navigator since I think it would work great with his talents.

DreamWorks...this has been though. Without putting any pitches and only scripts I've chosen El Cantar de Mio Cid since we will get a lot of support from Spain (that is part of the reward) and then I chose The Legend of Sinbad, because War of the Crystal would have the same director as the former movie.

In Sunrise, I've put Miraculous - Season 2 since it's been a long time since the last season (and I'm sure fans are waiting for the continuation) and Detention since I think it's a good mature animated movie that will keep on pushing what the medium of animation can do. As for Gundam, since it's an OVA I've put 5 million less than the Series.

For Ardmore, I've gone with both Still Wakes the Deep and The Imitation Game, to take advantage of both the little time in between the story of the former and the release of the biography of the latter. I think Stephen Frears can be a good director for what we want to get from the film, his body of work mostly focusing on real life and social class. The budget should be more than enough as in OTL the movie cost 14 million. For the other film, I've gone with a budget close to what The Abyss cost.

I've also decided to add a movie for Malpaso since it's been a while since we've done anything for them (and frankly, I'm starting to think we're getting a bit too distant from Clint, which I'd like to correct). The movie is a pitch at the moment, but I think Clint's got enough talent and bonuses to overcome the Malus. If not, we can change it for Honkytonk Man or Sudden Impact.

[X] Plan The Return of Conan
-[X]Yes: Alright you win Mike.
You should probably include the stipulation that we'll only do it if we can film close by. Someone earlier in the thread suggested Joshua Park as a good location. This otherwise looks good and the thing with Clint can also serve as a way for us to feel out what kind of maluses there are and how those maluses work.

[X] Plan The Return of Conan

First off, that's actually really interesting. Secondly, damn! It feels like it's been a while since we've seen you in the thread. Welcome back, man.
I come in and out, I've desperately been trying to finish all these horror pitches I have, and also I'm working on Batman 4 and 5, and the Justice League pitch (featuring Carrie as Zatanna maybe?) so I kinda don't want to post too much when I'm not delivering on these pitches that have just been beating my ass.

Edit:
Apparently Pacino and De Palma argued against Pfiffer's casting and Carrie was indeed one of the first names considered for the role. Also, Travolta was considered heavily for the role of Manny.

So Travolta and Carrie could both have parts in Scarface

Sucks to hear that they haven't been easy on you, but I hope you're doing well otherwise?

If I might make a suggestion, perhaps Demi Moore or Phoebe Cates as Zatanna?

I don't think we'll be doing Batman 4 or 5 considering that it's only going to be a trilogy during the DCEU.

And when are we introducing Zatanna? The Justice League should have all the characters already introduced in previous films to give time to the antagonists to be introduced.
You should probably include the stipulation that we'll only do it if we can film close by.
Sure, how should I word it?
