Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

After Action Report: Operation Guardian
After Action Report: Operation Guardian

Event Name: Operation Guardian

Location: Various locations in Hong Kong, including Bruce O'Brian's filming set, restaurants, and hotel.

In the metropolis of Hong Kong, a covert battle ensued, involving three major forces: the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6), and the Red Dragon Triad. At the center of this conflict was Bruce O'Brian, a filmmaker whose enigmatic persona and controversial past had turned him into a high-value target. The CIA was tasked with protecting Bruce, an asset of significant importance, while MI6 aimed to prevent any incidents that could escalate into international conflict. The Red Dragon Triad, acting under the directive of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), sought to eliminate Bruce, seeing him as a threat to their operations and political standing.

Bruce's visit to Hong Kong set the stage for a complex and dangerous operation that would test the capabilities and cooperation of international intelligence agencies. Operation Guardian was born from the necessity to protect Bruce from the ever-present threat posed by the Triad while ensuring that the operation did not escalate into a larger conflict. This report details the objectives, timeline, outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations arising from this high-stakes mission.

Objectives

CIA:
1. Protect Bruce O'Brian: Ensure the safety of Bruce O'Brian from any assassination attempts by the Red Dragon Triad or any other hostile entities.
2. Gather Intelligence: Collect valuable information on the Red Dragon Triad's operations, associates, and plans to dismantle their network.
3. Coordinate with Local Authorities: Work with the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) and MI6 to provide seamless protection for Bruce without exposing his potential status as an asset.

MI6:
1. Ensure Bruce's Safety: Prevent any harm coming to Bruce O'Brian to avoid an international incident that could jeopardize diplomatic relations.
2. Monitor CIA Activities: Maintain a watchful eye on the CIA's operations to ensure transparency and cooperation, avoiding any unintentional conflicts or misunderstandings.
3. Interdict Assassination Attempts: Actively intercept and neutralize any attempts by the Red Dragon Triad to assassinate Bruce O'Brian.

Timeline

Day 1:
- 08:00 AM: Bruce O'Brian arrives in Hong Kong, greeted by fans and media. His arrival triggers the activation of Operation Guardian by the CIA and MI6.
- 10:00 AM: CIA and MI6 operatives set up surveillance at key locations, including Bruce's hotel, known filming sites, and popular dining spots.
- 12:00 PM: Red Dragon Triad operatives receive confirmation of Bruce's presence and begin mobilizing resources for the assassination attempt.
- 01:00 PM: A Triad member attempts to poison Bruce's breakfast at a local restaurant. CIA Agent Goose intervenes, neutralizing the threat and detaining the operative.

Day 2:
- 09:00 AM: Filming begins at a local set with enhanced security measures implemented by the CIA and MI6. Both agencies maintain a covert presence to avoid alarming the film crew.
- 10:30 AM: A Triad sniper takes position overlooking the set, preparing for an assassination attempt. MI6 operative Collins identifies and neutralizes the sniper, preventing the attack.
- 11:00 AM: Filming resumes with additional security adjustments. Bruce remains unaware of the thwarted assassination attempt, allowing the operation to continue without disrupting his schedule.

Day 3:
- 07:00 AM: Intelligence reports indicate another planned assassination attempt during Bruce's public appearance. The CIA and MI6 escalate their security protocols.
- 09:00 AM: A coordinated raid is planned with the HKPF targeting multiple Triad hideouts simultaneously to disrupt their operations and prevent further attempts on Bruce's life.
- 12:00 PM: The raid is executed successfully, resulting in the arrest of over 500 Triad members and the seizure of significant quantities of contraband, including weapons and narcotics.
- 03:00 PM: Bruce completes his public appearance without incident, thanks to the heightened security measures. The mission is deemed a success, and debriefings begin.

Outcomes

CIA:
- Protection of Bruce O'Brian: The CIA successfully safeguarded Bruce from multiple assassination attempts, ensuring his safety throughout his visit to Hong Kong.
- Intelligence Acquisition: Significant intelligence was gathered on the Red Dragon Triad's operations, associates, and planned activities. This information will prove invaluable for future operations aimed at dismantling the Triad's network.
- Operational Success: The operation showcased the CIA's ability to coordinate effectively with international partners and local authorities to achieve mission objectives.

MI6:
- International Relations Preserved: By ensuring Bruce's safety, MI6 helped prevent a potential international incident that could have further strained diplomatic relations between the UK, US, and China.
- Effective Collaboration: MI6's collaboration with the CIA and HKPF demonstrated the value of inter-agency cooperation in handling complex international threats.
- Neutralization of Threats: MI6 operatives successfully neutralized several key threats, including the Triad sniper, showcasing their operational capabilities.

Lessons Learned

1. Inter-Agency Cooperation:
The success of Operation Guardian underscored the importance of seamless cooperation between international intelligence agencies and local law enforcement. Effective communication, joint planning, and coordinated execution were key factors in the operation's success. Future operations should prioritize fostering strong relationships and clear channels of communication between all involved parties.

2. Real-Time Intelligence:
The ability to gather, analyze, and act on real-time intelligence was crucial in anticipating and thwarting the Triad's assassination attempts. Advanced surveillance techniques, informant networks, and rapid response teams played pivotal roles in ensuring mission success. Enhancing these capabilities should be a priority for future operations.

3. Public Safety Measures:
Ensuring the safety of civilians during high-risk operations requires meticulous planning and execution. The presence of a high-profile target like Bruce O'Brian necessitated heightened security measures that balanced operational secrecy with public safety. Future operations should incorporate comprehensive risk assessments and contingency plans to protect both the target and the public.

4. Adaptability and Flexibility:
The dynamic nature of the threat environment demanded a high degree of adaptability and flexibility from all operatives involved. The ability to quickly adjust plans and tactics in response to changing circumstances was vital in maintaining control of the situation. Training programs should emphasize scenario-based exercises that develop these skills in operatives.

Conclusion
Operation Guardian successfully protected Bruce O'Brian from multiple assassination attempts while gathering valuable intelligence on the Red Dragon Triad's operations. The coordinated efforts of the CIA, MI6, and HKPF demonstrated the importance of inter-agency cooperation, real-time intelligence, and adaptability in handling complex international threats. The lessons learned in this report will serve as a guide for future operations, ensuring that intelligence agencies remain prepared to address evolving challenges and protect high value targets

"I still can't believe you call this crap food." You said as the English breakfast was offered.
Ayo! I like shitting on Brits and Euro's as much as any good, red-blooded American, but the English Breakfast is like the one thing the British got right culinarily. That shit is bomb. Except for the beans, because seriously, fuck off with those god damn shitty fucking Heinz beans and go back to putting the damn things on toast ya' weirdo's!

Damn, well that's another chapter in the bizarre memoirs of Bruce O'Brian. Do like that speech in the end, really helped to justify his decision to head to Hong Kong where he did it in artistic solidarity instead of just doing it for the lulz, but yeah one can only imagine how the CIA and MI6 looked when they learned of the true intentions.
When the CIA learned about that, they fucking screamed.

While MI6 just shook their heads and want to thank him, because they just might be able to hold onto the Empire.
Really good that we managed to uncover the conspiracy that was hinted at in the third reward and now all of Hong Kong has been galvanized for independence. OTL, China could always invade the colony and have a victory because most of the population was on board with it. Here, they would be annexing five million hostile citizens that have access to lots of copies of those revolution inspiring films.
Yep... and the problem is, The CCP has been now dealing with very bad faith with its nominal territory, and the UK might just decide that it is going to do things unlike what China wants.

And if they decide to fuck around and find out and invade Star Wars will be in China, and it can do some crazy shit to a nation that is utterly unprepared for Lucasfilm magic.
All that being said, I wonder how Macau is doing. Unlike Hong Kong, the unequeal treaties allowed Portugal to keep Macau indefinitely, but Macau has a hell of a lot less economic value and Portugal's political system is strongly anti-colonial across the board. Plus, after the Carnation Revolution, Portugal basically acknowledged that Macau was lost and called it "Chinese sovereignty under Portuguese administration". Events in Hong Kong may have many people panicking, but I don't think Portugal barring a strong conservative revolution will change its course and Macau as a whole has always been content as being part of China.
... Portugals situation might change... not through revolution, but through some very... interesting politicing between britian and the united states.

They will not want Macau to go back to the CCP.
The CIA is gonna be studying all the assassination attempts on Bruce to see how they can learn from it to deal with Castro's plot armor.
Well its simple, the CIA needs to get their hands on the Magoose dice.

Problem is, they can't.
I'll do you one better.

A cabal forms of some of the slightly younger, more pragmatic, idealistic, and just power-hungry members of the CCP who see the writing on the wall and decide that the only way they can save communism is to rise up against the current party leadership.
... Don't go giving me ideas for a good time.
How many assassion attempts have their been on us so far now? Like 30ish?
this will be number 5.

As I have said, I won't give a big reward, but I will let it modify an event roll for the UK involving Hong Kong, and if the US will get involved.

you are forgetting that Bruce is a proud Irishman right?

..... Huh.

Is it bad I kind of am now picturing senile old man Bruce still acting?

Like he has no clue what's going on anymore but somehow rocks each roll even if in a way nobody intended in Mr Magoo type style.

I think It'd be fine as long as he's just having fun acting and not just being dragged out to preform by an agent or caretaker or something.
I'm just picturing old man Bruce demanding he be letting out because "he has a set to be on!"

And, thanks to his kids, every studio has an agreement to let him have his fun and return home afterwards.... The incidental fact that the resulting cameos tend to be utterly hilarious and great to keep in just helps keep Bruce in the public consciousness

Edit: Kind of like marvel movies and stan Lee. Bruce just sorta.... Pops up in the background of the occasional scene and does whatever it is he has in his fogged head for said scene before wandering out and being taken back home

I am just loving the idea of old man Bruce being known as "The Modern Mr Magoo" due to the absentminded adventures he gets up to

If old man Bruce does go old man senile but can still fold you in half way, anytime he goes out, the CIA have to send lots of agent's to make sure he doesn't cause too much trouble. Young and sane Bruce is a trouble magnet as it is, but old man and will wander off if nobody is keeping a eye on him, that gives everyone fear and terror on what he could accomplish. Heck old man Bruce could have went to the get something from a vending machine to somehow taking down a drug deal between the Mexican cartel and some American gang hiding in a warehouse he somehow stumble into and somehow gets out unharmed but it somehow leads to the Mexican cartel losing half of it's power somehow.... because it's Bruce!

All the while old senile Bruce is oblivious thinking he is back on his set and is fully in character while pausing from time to say how much fun he is having and how excited he is for Mary and his kids to see this newest picture.

Turns out said picture is him in the headlines as busting a major cartel deal and his quote is "Thank you for the award, I'd like to thank-" and him going about an Emmy award speech thinking the microphone is the awards trophy

While in the background is Bruce wife and kids just so used to this, Old man Lucas is just having his face in palms and just muttering really Bruce, and Old man Mike is in his wheelchair just laughing like a madman cause it's both funny and he knows how much this as a film is going to make.

Earth Abides, post apoc story about a man who founds a community of those who begin to reject technology of the old world, great book.

Psychosis, guy lives in a basement apartment and gets paranoid that something has happened to the outside world. It's wishy-washy until the end on whether or not he's right.
Ok, in that case I think the Michael Collins is the one to go for. Mostly to synchronize with our purchase of Ardmore. Though Earth Abides sounds like it could be a good movie. I've read Psychosis before and if you want it to be filmed your gonna have to have a lot of internal dialog and an actor that's good at physically expressing themselves . Since they're not going to be able to say things to much.

Man, between the Yakuza and the Triad getting defanged, would that mean the strongest organization the east asian underworld is just the Russian Mob now?

Or we could perhaps rework the story so that it's a mixture of internal and external dialogue, maybe instead of a written diary he has a tape recorder? But yeah I could do the Collins biopic.
