Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Turn 100 Results

-[X]The Star Wars Question: You need to find out what to do with the now-completed film?
--[X] May, 25th. 1983

Well, you have your date. And the world is going absolutely nuts because of it.
----------------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Amnesia: The Dark Descent: The Holloween film, you want to make this bastard scarier then Holloween DC: ??? Rolled: D100 => 39+20=59
-[X]Sword of the Stranger: Honestly, like many films that you produce, you forgot this film even existed. DC: ??? Rolled:D100 => 56+20=76

Do you think those films will do great? Yes

(Continued in: Amnesia the Dark Decent, and Sword of the Stranger)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-[X]A Cameo: So you think that a Hong Kong Director named John Woo wants you to Cameo in one of his new… Blood Opera and heroic bloodshed. You decide that it might be fun. If the CCP dosen't try to put a hit out on you again. DC: 45 Rolled:D100 => 63
-[X]Hong Kong Action, and Protests: So Hong Kong, will within a decade you think, be handed over to the Mainland. The People and filmmakers of Hong Kong are not happy about that, and they want you, the most legendary actor in the world, to support them. DC: ??? Rolled:D100 => 100
other roll. D100 => 9
Reaction:D100 - 50 => -49

It was a blood opera of epic proportions…

Oh and then there was the cameo. John Woo was talented.

(Continued in: Oh, That Happened, Hope they make a movie about it.)
-----------------------------------------------------------
-[X]The New Blood: So... Who wants to work for Lucasfilms? DC:???
--[X]Director Rolled:D100 => 27

No new directors.

But.

--[X]Producer Rolled:D100 => 72

There was one sliver of good news.

A producer from Universal who had jumped ship, after they fucked him over.

Oliver Stone.

Questionable character issues aside, he can make a damn fine movie.

Reward: Oliver Stone is now a producer for Lucasfilms, and will be a director next year, if certain actions happen at Universal. Like say… Them trying to not compete with Star Wars. Or losing lots of money.
---------------------------------------------------------------
-[X]Carries Worry: Carrie has a bit of a problem. She dosen't have a name yet for your child. And it's bothering her. Rolled:D100 => 91+30=121

Carrie and you have some ideas!

Hope she likes it.

(Continued in: Names and the things we choose to worry about)

-[X]Homecoming: Todd has come home. And you think he's happy. DC: 40 Rolled:D100 => 40

Todd smiled as everyone was there to greet him, but you saw how tired he was from everything.

"So how was it?" You asked.

"Wonderful, though I am going to say it's good to be home." He replied as he let go of his mom and Carrie before scooping up the twins in both arms.

Todd was indeed looking tired, incredibly so. It was like he hadn't slept in weeks. "So what happened."

"Oh you know, just saying goodbye was hard." He replied. "A lot of those kids were unhappy with me leaving, but I had to go home. I learned a lot of things. Did a lot of work with my hands." He then smiled. "Built five schools. Several dozen houses, all of which survived several floods in the area, became safe places."

He then just leaned on you. "But I'm tired, I want to see what I missed."

"So have you seen the new Star Wars yet?" You asked.

"I was in the area of the country that had no electricity in it." Todd replied.

Everyone looked at each other and you smiled. "Well lets change that."

Reward: Todd is home. And he's exhausted from his experiences, and happy he did it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-[X]The Family Time: You need a night out with the family dammit! No more drama, no more work, just you and Carrie and the Kids! Rolled:D100 => 95

The kids watched Star Wars with Uncle Todd, and he was blown away by it. "Dammit. I can't believe you did that while I was gone." He replied.

"Language, we have my kids present." You replied.

Mary then pinched Todd. "Ow!" He screamed. "What was that!?"

"Pinch to the purse." She rhymed.

You sighed, "Pay up Todd. You owe a dollar to Mary's Swear jar." You held out a hand.

"Really? Come on, I have no cash on me!" He said.

"Then you are babysitting the kids tomorrow." You replied.

Reward: You had a wonderful time, and got to show Todd Star Wars.
------------------------------------------
-[X]Networking: Well time to start finding out who might actually be interested in meeting you. (Write-in what you want to try and network with)
--[X] Dan Aykroyd. You've heard he's been working on this Horror-Comedy movie called "Ghostbusters". It's an interesting concept, and one that could very well benefit from your Wizards when it comes to special effects. Offer him a $30,000,000 budget and let him have the choice of director if he'll let Lucasfilms produce the movie. Rolled:D100 => 100

He accepted without a single word, he said if it wasn't Lucasfilms, he would have not made the project.

Reward: Ghostbusters will be made.
-------------------------------------

--[X] Gary Goldman and David Z. Weinstein. One of their scripts has made the rounds, and while a western setting and style is not your cup of tea, you have to admit that some of the elements hold promise if properly adapted. Offer to buy the script from them, there might be something you can do with it afterwards. Rolled:D100 => 5
--[X] Miloš Forman. You have the rights to Amadeus, and the Screenplay that you paid Shaffer for as well. Now you need a Director, and only one name comes to mind. Contact Miloš Forman and offer him the budget necessary to make Amadeus into a movie Rolled:D100 => 8 (autopass)

But your other luck was not so well.

They said no, because they were afraid they were going to have to deal with Mike Eisner.

That was strange, because what did Mike do?

Well for the first two, he had been… a little too hard.

But Milos had actually come around to Mike's hard-nosed ideas and enjoyed the fact he could verbally spar with the man as an equal.

Reward: Milos is now on Amadeus, but the other two did not accept.

-[X]Sword of the Stranger: Honestly, like many films that you produce, you forgot this film even existed. DC: ??? Rolled:D100 => 56+20=76
What an IMP of a film! :p

Hooooo boy, that's a big name we got here. We should definitely have him do the more politically charged films.

-[X]Carries Worry: Carrie has a bit of a problem. She dosen't have a name yet for your child. And it's bothering her. Rolled:D100 => 91+30=121
Simp dice, simp dice, simp dice

-[X]Homecoming: Todd has come home. And you think he's happy. DC: 40 Rolled:D100 => 40
*sweats profusely*

Goodness, that was right on the line.

Well that was easy.

So guys who expects we cause China to fully go on a panic attack as we have destroyed them once again and the world knows it now because they got a big malus that was a nat 1

Well damn, Oliver Stone! Man, we hae a real Vietnam vet working for us in movies! I think the Nixon movie is going to be quite different this time around though.

Shame for Big Trouble in Little China. Guess Murdoch gets his win this time around. But we get Ghostbusters and Amadeus! Oh this is going to be so awesome!

And right now, I can't wait to see what happened in Hong Kong, something tells me it's going to be Epic!

Edit: Also, I just saw the roll again, and Damn! Thank God I put that Omake just in time!

Oh my... we're on the way for a total shit storm, aren't we? Thatcher was already pissed by the news of us going, this is going to make her head burst into flames.

I'm finally back stateside, woohoo! 🎈 🎉
Of course, the way there would be a miserable slog, but the flights back I get all the nice planes and mostly smooth experience. AGHHH!!! 😫 Still sucked to have back-to-back 8 hour flights though.

This is a little disappointing to see, but thankfully it seems like it'll at least be middle of the road? I can live with that. Now that I'm thinking about it though, what do these rolls actually do if the film's success is determined by a separate set of rolls? I assume it provides either bonuses or maluses depending on the roll?

Infact this would be career ending for her because what if they find evidence that China tried to assassinate us and it almost killed an IMPORTANT British offical causing outrage in Britain causing them to cut ties with China

Looking through the Ghostbusters wiki page. I had no idea it had those production problems.

Like Bill Murray not committing to the film until the last minute and delaying filming due to recording another movie first because he didn't have an explicit contract. Aykroyd writing the movie for him and John Belushi but it almost being shelved due to John's death. Wanting Eddie Murphy for the role of Winston. Not getting permission from the NYC government to film in certain landmarks so they had to sneak footage.

And most of all, Universal owning the name The Ghost Busters because it was a children's show they produced back in 1975.

Hopefully Mike and our production team can make things go smoother. And the O'Briens can pull some strings with the city to get permission to film.

It's going to be fun. We'll have to deal with them at some point, but I think most of them can be left to either Mike or to us.

Besides, we've worked with Eddie Murphy before with Luke Cage, so using our connections we migth be able to get him.
And most of all, Universal owning the name The Ghost Busters because it was a children's show they produced back in 1975.
It was owned by Paramount at the time I think, since the series The Ghost Busters was done by CBS.

After some research, you are correct. Paramount owns the production company of Filmation but I think we can negotiate with Filmation directly. Paramount owns them at the moment anyway. It just gets a bit confusing because when Filmation went defunct their library was bought out by Universal and The Ghost Busters name rights were sold to Columbia separately at an earlier date.

Also something confusing about the Columbia executive Frank Price, who was producing the film, later jumped ship to Universal. And I guess he personally owned the naming rights because he apparently took them with him and he sold them back to Columbia as probably some sort of accounting scheme.

Looking forward to the exploration of this and just who or what the other roll is. With a nat 100 and China getting negatives, hope we can get an independent Hong Kong. Also man, Master Asia in G Gundam is gonna be so epic.

Actually Todd left in June of 1980 so he would have seen Empire Strikes Back before he joined the Peace Corps, unless Bruce was showing him a reel of Return of the Jedi. Still overall, it's a nice heartwarming family reunion and it's good that Todd came out alright. Really threaded the needle there with that 40.

Lol, very ironic that Mary is enforcing a swear jar considering her first word was Fuck. Why is she doing that? My theory is that Mary found out about the existence of swear jars and realized it's a cheeky way to earn some money at her age while looking cute.

How are Sarah and Joseph taking to their Uncle Todd considering they probably don't remember him with Todd leaving when they were four months old?

THey love him, though they think he's strange.

Joseph is going to be begging him to take him to a baseball game soon.

It's Jedi.
