The readers. This is very much about me figuring out where your narrative tolerances are. Tournament arcs are a big tradition in Dragon Ball, but not everybody loves them for the tournament fighting itself.

Almost certainly hints. Now, whether they're red herrings or not is another matter.
Could be that a supremacist sorcerer got them. Could be someone's figured out Ki Hypnosis/Mind Control. Could be that this is the real them, and they've figured out a way to create fake persona's to hide behind(aka mental Masques).

It hangs together very well, and I suspect many of us thought of it as the update happened, but I'm not sure how we could prove it. We could ask about any mental magic effects the sorcerers can detect? They're almost certainly hidden, but it's usually harder to hide things than to detect them when tou're actively searching. Maybe pass it off as worrying about a possible alien ability - they've been here long enough, after all.
...Actually, that's plausible enough they should be checking for it anyway. We only have their word for it that they were trying to kill them, after all.
@PoptartProdigy can we write in a suggestion to check for mental affects?

Write it in in such a way that we're not accusing Dandeer, but are (instead) asking if the aliens could do that.

Most of the sorcerors are Gokun, apparently, so they will probably be more loyal to Berra and Kakara than to Dandeer.
In any event, Damien's at the top of his game- and the top of the world of Exile martial arts. Definitely the guy to beat, which Mitsuba is, yes, working on.

I like 'em just fine; if Mitsuba weren't out of the fight I'd be volunteering to help write 'em.
It's a safe assumption that Mitsuba knows just about every major competitor on the cap circuit. Most of them have known each other for years if not decades. She's fought Damien a number of times. She has, yes, generally been losing. The margins among the top competitors are narrow enough that I wouldn't be surprised if she COULD beat him... but she never has when it counts. She keeps making it to the quarter-finals, semi-finals, things like that.
In any event, Damien's at the top of his game- and the top of the world of Exile martial arts. Definitely the guy to beat, which Mitsuba is, yes, working on.

By a massive margin. When it cropped up that Jaffur had sorcerous potential, we learned that Dandeer and Dandelor are the only current Vegetan Sorcerers.

We have a Sorcerer displaying talents that exceed her previous abilities. We have people from both clans (an entire guard shift, not one outlier) suddenly deciding that disobeying their clan leaders and killing prisoners is okay. And then we have a guard going on about Saiyan supremacy despite working with a Sorcerer and managing to get a job as a guard in the first place where such beliefs would basically automatically disqualify him for the job.
So some theories.
A. Some really persuasive Saiyan out there really has a grudge against aliens or the ruling leadership. And somehow had the means to convince an entire guard shift and a sorcerer to come to their side without anyone else finding out.
B. Some Saiyan mind controlled everyone for some sort of agenda.
C. An unknown alien or one of the alien prisoners mind controlled the guards to silence the prisoners.
D. This was all just a distraction to draw attention away from something else.
E. Some other unknown factor.
We foiled the attack through the pure luck of simply being there in the first place.
No matter the conspiracy, the deaths of the prisoners were the objective. The deaths of the prisoners would have accomplished three things.
1. The prisoners are dead, thus either demonstrating some supremacy viewpoint or keeping any information they have quiet.
2. Clan leadership looks ineffective and foolish due to not being able to protect prisoners they wore they would keep alive. Perhaps
3. Attention and resources are taken up by this massive security breach, thus allowing for another strike at a completely different target while everyone is occupied.
In any case, someone is pulling the strings behind the scenes. We need more clues to narrow down suspects.

Are we sure it was this sorceress that enhanced the grenades? If we are assuming they were mind controlled by another sorcerer, said sorcerer would have had to learn about the sorceress training enhancing in secret to mind control her into making them since she is not known for that skill. It seems more likely that there is a second sorcerer with skill in that branch of magic than Caulifla growingsuper skilled at it in secret and somebody figuring it out.
It could even be the method by which these guys were controlled, supressing loyalty and enhancing saiyan pride or rage. That said, afawk Dandeer is not particularly famous for that branch of magic and if she isn't then that points to either the second sorcerer not being her or there being more than 1 extra magic user.
