Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

Hello there, brand new account here, I was wondering what the Capstone perks actually are and what it means. I dived into Jumpchains and the reference doc for this fic but i haven't been able to figure out what it actually entails.
So Capstone Perks are perks that are at the top of a perk group like in origins. They usually cost 600 CP but they vary per Jump doc depending on the author. A Capstone Booster is a perk that usually isn't as expensive as a Capstone Perk but it has no discounts, usually. It comes with its own effects and it boosts the Capstone Perks. A good example is with the God of War Jump.

In the God of War Jump, the Capstone Booster is Titan's Blood.
What a curious thing you are, to have become such a thing. One of your ancestors was a Titan, a primordial being of great power and ability that was responsible with shaping the world as it is. You are not full-blooded, but the effects have been prevalent on you nonetheless; your size may be increased up to fifteen meters in height, with your strength as such that you could throw pieces of buildings one-handed at your enemies. You may also choose one Titan you are a descendent from, gaining aesthetic appearance changes similar to them. But more importantly, you may relax yourself and 'commune' with the world and nature around you; by opening your mind to the world you can learn about it and its secrets quite quickly, along with finding what is the largest threat to the balance of nature. You are of the planet, child. It is your birthright to know these things.
One of the Capstones for God of War is Daedalus' Student.
It is one thing to work on forging mere sword and shield, but it is another to create truly marvelous wonders... for a mortal. You could make marvelous wings out of bird feathers and beeswax, capable of granting flight to anyone. Or maybe you wish to create an everchanging Labyrinth, that shifts and alters itself depending on how it moves. Regardless, your architect and forging skills have taken a dramatic increase, to the point where the things you create just may have properties and quality they normally shouldn't have, albeit directed towards the purpose of your creations. Through your works, your will be known... but take care that the gods do not take offense with your work.
Titan's Blood boosts it through this.
Your crafting has undergone a dramatic improvement, to the point where you can make incredible works with the strength of an army within them. You have also gleamed into a new type of crafting, and you can forge energy constructs such as Zeus' Lightning to be used in your wishes.
Hopefully this helps.

Joe is cursed to never finish a therapy session.

In regards to the motoroid I wonder if the portal to Shardspace reopened for a single moment.

Furtheremore, Aperion is now a hero at a conceptual level and no one can ever take that from him.

Speaking of concepts, Joe acknowledging he is close to conceptual magic makes me happy. Hopefully he closes that gap with a few more perks.

Finally, the perk I was hoping for this chapter was Miniaturization/Efficiency which obviously didn't happen. However, while thinking about it I realized that there might be a good side benefit to this. Joe has been trying to replicate certain parahuman abilities through magic for a while now but can't get consistent reading. If Joe gets a parahuman ability, even one disconnected from a shard due to being the post jump version, he would suddenly have a lot of data to work with.

He really needs to get some brainwashing power. Then he can erase all his mental problems and character flaws. Create some magical ring or even magical potion that grants him permanent Gamer Mind but better. No negative emotions, no mental problems. 100% ideal godlike mind, to stop wasting time on small problems and use his abilities to their maximum potential.

Then next he can start murdering everybody who doesn't fit his ideal world, and brainwash everyone else! With perfect rationality, he'd probably only need to blow up a couple of universes, so it'd work out, I'm sure.

That sounds exactly like the type of thing Joe would never do. He would end up completely inhuman, and his humanity is something that he values considerably.

He has brainwashing powers by the dozens at this point, and every time he got one he needed a short break to recover from the reminder of his potential trigger. So no, Joe wouldn't do that to himself because the entire concept itself is anathema to him.

If I had a Perk every time someone suggested this kind of thing in this thread, I'd have more Perks than Joe.
the virgin Jessica Yamada vs. the chad Doctor Campbell
They need to get together, stat. The world needs them sane, and they can keep each other sane.

Well if you can use magic to improve your body why not heal your mind? It is a normal human desire to be well and healthy. Fixing some flaws like need for sleep, small attention span is just a bonus. I refuse to believe that supergenius cant find a way to push his agenda without killing people. Social manipulation is a thing.

the potential of a Protectorate ambush waiting for me at his office.

"Why are we ambushing this guy at this therapist?"

"We think he might be a Mad Scientist type. No matter how stable he is or isn't now, he might be worse in the future."

"Yeah, so why are we encouraging him to avoid his therapist!?"

but with the blessing of beauty I had a better understanding of the concept, which apparently included an inherent awareness of when someone was appreciating beauty. Even if it was my beauty.

Especially if it's your beauty.
She probably made sure of it.
After all, that beauty was created by Aphrodite herself, and is therefore the best beauty!

I could dig into the phone records easily enough, but I didn't really care. It wasn't worth even the fleeting effort it would take to get the data.

Instantaneous reaction:
I'm sure Survey knows, and is probably plotting revenge.

I'm pretty sure Survey had been cyberstalking Alena's every move since the end of the first call as some kind of spite based defensive measure.

I've rarely had my reactions so precisely confirmed.

the only alternative was that the people who basically controlled everything for me had no idea what they were doing and didn't understand the consequences of their actions."

Children trust their parents, because the alternative is too horrifying to contemplate.

"Joe, that battle, what you did on Thursday, it was the kind of thing that would have pressed entire teams of heroes to the limit. Really, it did press entire teams of heroes to the limit.

Entire hero teams, miles away, dealing with the most minor side effects, were pressed to their limit.

It's because flaws and biases are a lot stronger and more ingrained than what you might think. Supergenius does not automatically equal to a monster of logic, if anything, geniuses are often the ones most affected by mental illnesses. It's why "touched by fire" is a metaphor often used to describe RL geniuses.

Holy shit the perfect power to protect the Dr Campbell after the character development of Joe, I feel like a proud parent at his growth like I want to shed some tears at how much he has healed from the beginning of the fic. It was just amazing, the dice gods really are sentient and incredibly amusing to watch.

Also awesome, the sheer weight of Joe becoming the Crafter Servant was just amazing, I don't think that it losses to Spiral Power in terms of sheer meaning. And Aisha is going to love it completely.

I was actually thinking of this perk when I was going through the doc, it kind of seemed redundant, but I can see why it would hit him hard. Overall cool chapter, I like that he started to get into the cape side of things and got to show off at the end.

I want you to swap the word gender with race or social class or so on, and read your post again.

I'm going to read the chapter now.

Just as a counter point I tend to gloss over age, race, religion, gender, class etc when reading stories or even in real life. Like it really doesn't actually matter even if people get worked up about this stuff.

Granted that may be because I spend a lot of time online where I have no idea who's behind the keyboard.

Ok, I have to say something. I usually lurk, but holy frick, when I saw the words about how he gets a rank-up when countering something, that brings his Mana up by a rank, so, D if I'm differentiating Mana from Magecraft.

But connected to his Item Construction?

That turns into Rank EX+++ (if the +'s are kept on rank-up)

Still, as Joe said, Rank EX is something that becomes more after Rank A+++. To even get to the point of EX, let alone the plus modifiers, his Items are superbly powerful. Like, I'm not sure it's close to Excalibur, but he could make a darned good try to replicate it (considering his supplemental powers that make him a Divine craftsman of some form? It may even be possible to make a True Excalibur, but I'm not super knowledgeable about the conceptual weight ascribed to the Sword of Promised Victory).

EA probably is still out of his reach, because EA cheats.

Momentary Edit: So I realized that a Noble Phantasm probably has a bit more to it than just making the Item that the Phantasm is manifested through. Could anyone clarify if Joe could make the true Noble Phantasm Excalibur, or would it just be a "sword?" I'm not super sure if I should ping Lord to ask the question, I want to be polite in terms of net etiquette.

Probably want to take that down, that falls under chan. behavior.

It's worth noting that A++ is actually the highest the skill could get, the added rank "only" makes it A+++ (the added plus for the scenario of Counter). EX is a designation that, quite simply put, doesn't exist on the rating scale. It doesn't necessarily mean that EX is so good that it's unquantifiable, it just means that it is unquantifiable.

Wait, I thought the 3 '+' modifiers were intrinsic to the skill in question, since Joe mentioned it before he got to the Countercraft section?

EDIT: Found the source of the A++ being the highest a Parameter can get: under the Mooncell system, it can be at maximum A++, and pluses can only be added to an A rank, it has a different progression compared to the "base" system.

+'s are also kinda misused by the fate fandom in general. They're not direct powerups, they're conditional ones. Most of the time it doesn't really come up, even in canon, but however many +s only give their boosts in the right situation. 'Course, for this MC it's practically meaningless. EX is on point, though. It doesn't actually mean 'stronger than is measurable', it means '??????'. That can mean absurd power, but it can also mean 'my speed functions via clenching my buttcheeks so hard space swaps my position with where I want to be'.

rank ex doesn't necessarily mean better than A+++ it usually refers to not being on the same scale. For example if madness enhancements A refer to a mindless berserker ex could mean obsessed with seeing the master as their child or whatever. In any case beyond A+++ isn't ex it's [STAR]. also you can't have EX plus, those pluses means sometimes stronger than the next rank above, and as ex is unranked you be sometimes stronger. The number of pluses refer to how many ranks higher it (sometimes) is.

fate is kinda weird with its power rankings…

I'm also hyped over the implication that the therapist just provoked Joe into bringing his entire faction into the Somer's Rock meeting. I feel like he'll at least bring in Tetra, Lethe, and Survey if no-one else.

I'm honestly expecting Aisha too, because shes basically the only one of his group that already "debuted"(excluding garmet since she's not associated publicly).

Now what I really wanna see is Lisa figuring out Aisha is grue's brother, now that's gonna be awkward.

The idea EX means unquantifiable is a common fanon. Ea is directly given a maximum damage of 4000 in canon FSN. EX is canonically something so far beyond the scale that comparisons are meaningless. You can still quantify EX rank stuff. It just makes anything not EX look absurdly low in comparison.

* is specifically the one that actually refers to not on the scale.

Mad Enhancement EX is a level of insanity where while they may seem like they looped back to being sane they are impossible to convince and will do whatever they want. FGO made it so Mad Enhancement isn't actually just being super angry. Summer Raikou for example has a Mad Enhancement rank of C, and scaled back on the maternal instincts to focus on morality. Beings with less than Mad Enhancement EX can still appear normal in certain circumstances

I'm proud of Joe. That was a huge step. And No matter what he has validation. The Universe itself considers him a Hero. Capital H. I wonder If Joe saw any of the Modern heroes during his viewing of The Record?

More than anything I am proud that he is thinking and working things through for himself. Doctor Cambell has done wonders for him. He should be enshrined in the same space as a certain Homeless man in Britain for his contributions to humanity.

I had made a joke before when he got Always a Bigger Robot that he could probably build his own Unicron from Transformers. Now it would probably take a day or two to build a planet sized robot.
